Hello. You are tuned into Newsround this Friday afternoon with Ore and

:00:07.:00:11.

Joe. He's not wrong. Stay where you are for some of this.

:00:11.:00:14.

The call for kids to stop playing with fireworks.

:00:14.:00:18.

And the world's highest skydiver tells us what inspired him to make

:00:18.:00:28.
:00:28.:00:40.

First, it's bonfire season and many of us will be heading to fireworks

:00:40.:00:43.

displays this weekend or even planning our own at home. But there

:00:43.:00:47.

are calls for kids to be careful, after two boys were badly hurt when

:00:47.:00:51.

playing with a firework. And now one of the mums of the injured boys

:00:51.:00:55.

has released a picture of him in hospital to warn kids about what

:00:55.:00:59.

can happen when you play with these dangerous explosives.

:00:59.:01:03.

With bonfire night fast approaching, fireworks season is in full swing.

:01:03.:01:07.

Big events like this are put on all over the country ever year by

:01:07.:01:11.

professional firework display teams. They know how to put on an amazing

:01:11.:01:18.

show of light and sound. And they also know how to avoid getting hurt.

:01:18.:01:21.

But when fireworks get into the wrong hands, accidents can happen,

:01:21.:01:24.

and now three boys are seriously injured after playing with one, and

:01:24.:01:28.

one of the boys' mums has released a photo of her son in hospital to

:01:28.:01:33.

stop kids playing with fireworks. The picture shows the 10-year-old

:01:33.:01:43.
:01:43.:01:44.

recovering from a burned face in hospital. You have to be 18 to buy

:01:44.:01:46.

fireworks and the one they were playing with is so powerful you

:01:46.:01:55.

cannot buy it in shops like this. Big rockets can fly at 100mph. They

:01:55.:01:59.

can travel 200 metres into the sky, And burn at temperatures of around

:01:59.:02:02.

800 degrees Celsius. And sparklers are even hotter, at 2000 degrees

:02:02.:02:05.

Celsius. Last year, 158 people were treated in hospital for firework

:02:05.:02:08.

injuries, and firefighters are always really busy over bonfire

:02:08.:02:15.

weekend. Around Hallowe'en and Bonfire Night, it is almost

:02:15.:02:19.

inevitable some children will get hold of fireworks. We ask you to

:02:19.:02:23.

remember everything firefighters have told you in the past and to

:02:23.:02:27.

give those fireworks to your parent or another adult, who will make

:02:27.:02:30.

them safe. So the best advice is to enjoy all

:02:30.:02:34.

the bangs and sparkle of fireworks night, but let the grown ups do the

:02:34.:02:36.

hard work. All week we've been talking about

:02:36.:02:39.

the destruction caused by Superstorm Sandy. When the storm

:02:39.:02:43.

hit New York, we heard from Ella and her brother Arman, who live in

:02:43.:02:45.

Brooklyn. Here they are celebrating Halloween despite all the

:02:45.:02:49.

disruption. We caught up up with them to find out if life is

:02:49.:02:58.

starting to get back to normal. will probably take time to get all

:02:58.:03:02.

of the tree is a way that have fallen down. There are a lot of

:03:02.:03:07.

trees that fell down and were half broken. It is pretty dangerous if

:03:07.:03:12.

you walk off the street. All of the trees are kind of cracking. It is

:03:12.:03:20.

pretty dangerous. We have a sports facility. And now it is closed

:03:20.:03:23.

because it is used for shelter for all the people who got evacuated

:03:23.:03:31.

from their homes. And my mum, she goes there and she helps there. I

:03:31.:03:34.

realise we are really lucky that did not happen to us.

:03:34.:03:37.

Staying in America, there are just four days until the big election.

:03:37.:03:40.

President Barack Obama and his opponent, Mitt Romney, have been

:03:40.:03:43.

criss-crossing the country for months, trying to persuade people

:03:43.:03:47.

to vote for them. One of the things lots of people have been talking

:03:47.:03:50.

about is Mitt Romney's religion. We sent Leah to find out about the

:03:50.:03:59.

Mormon faith. In the battle to be President, what

:03:59.:04:03.

you believe in is huge. Having a strong faith is seen as really

:04:03.:04:07.

important by lots of voters, so, from Mitt Romney, one of the big

:04:07.:04:11.

challenges has been getting past what people think of the church he

:04:11.:04:15.

belongs to. The Mormon Church was set up in the 18 hundreds in

:04:15.:04:19.

America. The Mormon church is officially called the Church of

:04:19.:04:24.

Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. There are around 14 million Mormons

:04:24.:04:27.

living around the world, half of them in America, but the biggest

:04:27.:04:32.

temple outside of America, Canada and Mexico is right here in the UK,

:04:32.:04:37.

in Lancashire. For lots of people, what Mormons believe in is a

:04:37.:04:40.

mystery. There are many similarities between this church

:04:40.:04:45.

and other Christian churches. One of the differences is that we have

:04:45.:04:49.

the Bible, but we also have another book of scripture. And that book is

:04:49.:04:54.

called the Book of Mormon. Church's views are sometimes seen

:04:54.:04:58.

as controversial. Drinking tea and coffee is banned because of the

:04:58.:05:02.

strict health code, and at one time, Mormons were allowed to marry more

:05:02.:05:07.

than one person. It is not the way that we practised today. There is

:05:07.:05:12.

one man and one woman. We have one wife and one has done. Lots of kids

:05:12.:05:16.

and young people are part of the Church. Let's talk about the

:05:16.:05:20.

reactions you have got at school. have said on a few occasions that I

:05:20.:05:25.

am a Mormon, like to Dave. People usually think it is cool and do not

:05:25.:05:32.

sabre things. Sometimes they think you are trapped, but I choose to do

:05:32.:05:36.

this and I am glad. There are reasons for it and it gives me a

:05:36.:05:40.

chance to explain to other people. If Mitt Romney wins the US election,

:05:40.:05:46.

he will be the first Mormon to be President of the United States, and

:05:46.:05:49.

for a religion whose views are not very well-known, that is a pretty

:05:49.:05:53.

big deal. And you can find more out about the

:05:53.:05:55.

Mormon religion on the Newsround website. While you're there, check

:05:55.:05:59.

out Ricky's election blog. He arrived in the US earlier this week

:05:59.:06:02.

to cover the race to be President. And he's already been scribbling

:06:02.:06:04.

about it. Next, Manchester United manager

:06:04.:06:06.

Alex Ferguson says he doesn't believe referee Mark Clattenburg

:06:06.:06:10.

used racial language in a footy match last weekend. The incident is

:06:10.:06:14.

being investigated by the police and the FA. But it's also led to

:06:14.:06:17.

new calls for everything that's said on the pitch to be recorded.

:06:17.:06:22.

Referees are there to make sure footballers play by the rules.

:06:22.:06:25.

They've got the power to send players off for bad behaviour and

:06:25.:06:28.

things can get pretty heated when someone disagrees with their

:06:28.:06:34.

decision. Refs do wear mics so they can talk to their assistants, but

:06:34.:06:39.

what they say isn't recorded and it's not heard by anyone else. Now

:06:39.:06:44.

there are calls to change that. It's after referee Mark Clattenburg

:06:44.:06:47.

was accused of using inappropriate language to two Chelsea players

:06:47.:06:52.

last Sunday. It's been claimed he used racial words during the Blues'

:06:52.:06:54.

defeat to Manchester United, something he denies. But the

:06:54.:06:58.

argument has highlighted the fact that there is no way of proving

:06:58.:07:08.
:07:08.:07:09.

what was said. If that conversation was recorded, if we could hear what

:07:09.:07:12.

was said between referee and player, we would know.

:07:12.:07:16.

In rugby, the refs wear mics and people who go to matches can buy

:07:16.:07:20.

earpieces to hear what they say. The sound is also played on TV.

:07:20.:07:23.

Players who are abusive to the ref can be punished, and because their

:07:23.:07:27.

voices are recorded there is proof. With people able to listen in,

:07:27.:07:30.

people are much more careful about what they say on the pitch. So

:07:30.:07:38.

would it work in football? We asked this ref for his take on the issue?

:07:38.:07:43.

I think players would not swear as much. I think they should not be

:07:43.:07:47.

recorded, because it is turning the game into football and the players

:07:47.:07:54.

could slip up and say something wrong. We asked the FA and FIFA if

:07:54.:07:58.

they were thinking about recording referees but they would not comment.

:07:58.:08:00.

Mark Clattenburg denies doing anything wrong but this could lead

:08:00.:08:08.

to a shake-up in the game. Finally, Felix Baumgarter, the man

:08:08.:08:12.

who jumped from the edge of space, says he didn't know he'd broken the

:08:12.:08:16.

speed of sound until after he landed back on earth. The Austrian

:08:16.:08:19.

daredevil said he'd wanted to go into space ever since he was five,

:08:19.:08:23.

and hopes he's inspired a new generation of kids to go on

:08:23.:08:30.

adventures. We accomplished something that mattered to the

:08:30.:08:34.

whole world, because I have been getting so many e-mails, pictures,

:08:34.:08:39.

drawings from little kids inspired by what we did. I talked a lot of

:08:39.:08:42.

young people who are thankful that we did this, because they missed

:08:42.:08:49.
