Hello, I'm Jenny, live on CBBC with your Friday morning Newsround.

:00:00.:00:08.

We meet Alex from The Dumping Ground to talk about homelessness.

:00:09.:00:13.

And we've got some of your amazing World Book Day outfits.

:00:14.:00:26.

First, there are about to be some big changes to how the UK deals

:00:27.:00:29.

It's all because of something you might have heard mentioned

:00:30.:00:33.

I went to Scotland to find out what kids there think.

:00:34.:00:42.

Despite what people say, it's not always raining.

:00:43.:00:45.

There is loads to see and do and I love the museums.

:00:46.:00:53.

Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, where a lot of people have strong

:00:54.:00:55.

opinions on the vote that happened last year on whether the UK should

:00:56.:00:59.

leave a club of countries called the European Union.

:01:00.:01:05.

Across the whole UK, most people voted to

:01:06.:01:07.

Scotland, most people wanted to stay in it.

:01:08.:01:13.

So what do the children here think now the UK is leaving?

:01:14.:01:17.

Well, I think it is kind of bad because it leaves the UK more

:01:18.:01:21.

don't have the support that we used to since we've left the EU.

:01:22.:01:30.

The EU has different rules from what other

:01:31.:01:33.

countries have, if we leave we will not be following them any

:01:34.:01:36.

more, so it might be a bit confusing.

:01:37.:01:38.

I don't like the fact that we are leaving but I guess it

:01:39.:01:41.

I think children should have had a say because it will affect their

:01:42.:01:46.

I hope they don't keep going on about it, if they are going

:01:47.:01:50.

And there's loads more about Brexit and what it all means

:01:51.:01:56.

Next up and we're talking about the problem of homelessness.

:01:57.:02:01.

An estimated 1.2 million young people in England have at some point

:02:02.:02:04.

stayed in an unsecured or unsafe place because they felt they had

:02:05.:02:07.

It's an issue that Alex in the CBBC's The Dumping Ground has

:02:08.:02:14.

been experiencing in a new storyline on the show.

:02:15.:02:18.

Well, Connor Lawson, who plays Alex on The Dumping Ground,

:02:19.:02:22.

and Gaia Marcus, who works for the charity

:02:23.:02:24.

Thank you for coming on Newsround. Connor, tell us about Alex? God he

:02:25.:02:35.

is a pretty troubled kid, he has never had a good background, he has

:02:36.:02:41.

constantly been in and out of care, does not have a good father figure,

:02:42.:02:45.

you has put a wallop against the world and are showing off his bad

:02:46.:02:49.

behaviour and persona, but he just wants to be wanted on to have love

:02:50.:02:55.

from somebody. What is it like playing bad character? Pretty hard,

:02:56.:02:59.

the total opposite end of the scale to me. -- playing that character? I

:03:00.:03:05.

have been nurtured and loved coming he has not, it is a real eye-opener

:03:06.:03:16.

and it has been good for me to see it from a different perspective. How

:03:17.:03:18.

did you prepare? I did Method acting, I met up with a homeless guy

:03:19.:03:21.

from Newcastle, he talked to me, it was good to see him still smiling.

:03:22.:03:28.

How big a problem as this, Gaia? About 1.2 million young people have

:03:29.:03:31.

at some point live somewhere where they feel unsafe or insecure. We

:03:32.:03:37.

started a centrepoint helpline. When young people end up rough sleeping

:03:38.:03:41.

it is because they often do not know there is help available, or they see

:03:42.:03:46.

Calpol do not get the right help. What help is available? -- or they

:03:47.:03:52.

seek help or do not get the right help. You should go to your local

:03:53.:03:57.

council, the centrepoint helpline is there to ensure you know your

:03:58.:04:02.

options and rights, but always note that people under 18 are children in

:04:03.:04:05.

the eyes of the law, even if they don't feel like it, and something

:04:06.:04:11.

can be done. There is loads of help. Thank you both for coming on to

:04:12.:04:12.

Newsround and talking to us. And The Dumping Ground is on at 4.30

:04:13.:04:14.

this afternoon on CBBC. You can also find more information

:04:15.:04:17.

:04:18.:04:19.
