up: Back on dry land - the mystery of the Mexican castaway lost at sea

for over a year! The newborn line cubs, this is Newsround. First

though, the terrible weather conditions continue to batter parts

of Britain, with storms causing chaos in the south west of England

and parts of Wales overnight. Gusts of up to 70 miles an hour were

recorded and thousands of homes are still without power after the fierce

winds brought down trees and electricity cables. Power companies

are now fighting to get supplies back on. You have been telling us

how you have been affected. Next to a story of survival that's

amazed and surprised people around the world. In 2012, a fisherman from

Mexico says he went on a fishing trip with a friend. 13 months later,

he was found on a tiny island 8,000 miles from home. Nel has been

looking into it. This man says he has spent more than

a year floating adrift in the middle of the ocean. He claims to have been

lost at sea but 13 months when a day's fishing trip went wrong. The

37-year-old, who only speaks Spanish says he left southern Mexico with a

friend on a day trip to catch black tip sharks in 2012. Last week he

washed up alone with a bushy beard 8,000 miles from home on a tiny

Pacific island. TRANSLATION: The boat was bobbing up

and down in the waves. I pushed myself away from the boat so it

would not hit me in the head. When I got to the sure I was unable to

walk. Some people have questioned whether it is possible to survive

that amount of time. He said his friend he was travelling with died

many months ago, but there are no details how he died and how the boat

got into trouble in the first place. He is now heading back to Mexico to

be reunited with his family. It is not the first time people have been

rescued off the Marshall Islands. In 2006, three fishermen had to be

rescued after what they said nine months drifting across the Pacific

Ocean. They survived on rainwater, birds and fish.

Cricket now and one of England's best ever star batsman Kevin

Pietersen has played his last match for his country. Bosses announced

yesterday that he'd been dropped for both the One Day tour of the West

Indies which starts next month, and the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.

Kevin Pietersen reckons he still has more to give the team. Those in

charge say they need to rebuild the team after the disastrous Ashes tour

of Australia. But not everyone thinks it's the right time to finish

Pietersen's career. I don't think this is the moment.

There is a World Cup coming up and an Ashes series in 16 months. You

need your best players. It is the wrong call at the wrong time for

English cricket. You never know what you'll get with

Fulham's miserable season just keeps getting worse. They've been knocked

arrival at a zoo in Poland - three white lion cubs! It's really special

because white lions are usually only found in wildlife reserves in South

Africa and only a few zoos around the world. Their zoo keeper says he

thinks there's around only 90 of them in existence. Meanwhile, Mum is

taking her job of looking after her new cubs very seriously.
