Hello, Newsrounders! I'm Hayley, and here's what's coming up: The

new plan to put a stop to stray dogs on our streets, and the

holiday surprise you'd never forget. First, if you've got a dog and it

goes missing, you know how upsetting it is. But did you know

that more than 100,000 dogs go missing or are abandoned across the

country each year? To try to tackle the problem of strays, the

government is making it compulsory for owners in England to fit their

dogs with a microchip. Those who don't comply by 2016 will face a

fine of up to 500 pounds. Nel's been finding out more at the Dog's

Trust in Liverpool. What is a microchip? A unique way

of registering a dog to their owner. It looks like a small grain of rice,

it is implanted into the dog's scruff and it is the best way of

reuniting dogs with their owners. Does it hurt? I give the example of

getting your ear pierced, it hurts a little bit but Bennett is there

for life, it takes about five minutes on the dog doesn't realise

he has had it done. And Nel will have more on that story for us

around 6:50pm. Now, we've heard quite a bit

recently about racism in football, and today there's another example

from Italy. The victim is Mario Balotelli, who only moved back

there last week when Manchester City sold him to AC Milan. Well,

now the vice-president of his new club has been caught on camera

making a racist remark about the star striker. To make matters worse,

the man whose made the comment is the brother of the former Italian

Prime Minister. Scientists have finally been able

to explain the mysterious goo which caused hundreds of seabirds to be

washed up on the South coast of England last week. They say it was

a chemical often used by ships to make their engines work more

efficiently. The information could help to find the source of the

contamination. The European Parliament has voted

for big changes to its fishing rules to try to stop the fish we

eat being wiped out. At the moment, around a quarter of fish caught are

thrown back dead because they were caught accidentally. The changes

could become law by next year, after more talks with the 27 EU

governments. Now, how loud do you listen to

music? Well, from this month, all across Europe, MP3 players and

gadgets that play music will have a limit on the volume you can choose.

And if you like your tunes louder, a warning will pop up on screen.

It's because loads of us are at risk of damaging our hearing. Joe's

been looking into how it works. Some music just has to be played

loud. But how loud is too loud? Oh, sorry. How loud is too loud? Or

music players from today will come with a warning system which says

that if you listen above a certain level, you could be damaging your

ears. Mark damaged his ears through years of playing music in clubs and

at home on his MP3 player. He has a condition called Scimitars. I used

to think the louder the better, then I got ringing in my ears.

condition called tinnitus. It used to sometimes happen but then it

would clear up, but now I am stuck with a ringing in my ear all the

time. Mark is not alone, it is estimated that 6 million people in

the UK have been affected by it. From today, all music players will

have a system to control how loud we listen to our music. The safe

level will be 80 decibels, you can be steered to 100 decibels, which

is about as loud as a building site role. It if you try to go up to 120

decibels, which is like a plane taking off, you will be warned.

Loud music can permanently damage our ears and once they become

damaged they don't come back. It is irreversible. Mark says he regrets

damaging his earring and hopes the new rules will make a difference so

that people can continue enjoying the music they love.

He's only the seventh man to reach this milestone for his country, so

tonight's a big night for Ashley Cole. The Chelsea defender will win

his 100th cap when England take on Brazil in a friendly at Wembley.

The match is to mark the 150th anniversary of the Football
