It's Tuesday, I'm Jenny and this is Newsround.

:00:10.:00:13.

A special camera gets rocketted into space.

:00:14.:00:18.

We get a pigeon's eye view of pollution....

:00:19.:00:23.

First up, some space news and a new camera satellite has been

:00:24.:00:36.

launched by the European Space Agency.

:00:37.:00:38.

Satellite Sentinel 2B will join another satellite already in space

:00:39.:00:44.

to take pictures of the Earth's surface every five days and send

:00:45.:00:47.

back information about pollution levels in lakes and coastal waters,

:00:48.:00:49.

as well as checking on the world's forests.

:00:50.:00:56.

Also helping to measure pollution are some unexpected

:00:57.:00:58.

Yes, pigeons are being used in an experiment to learn

:00:59.:01:02.

Martin has been 'coo-vering' over the story.

:01:03.:01:07.

I see them all the time in the city, trying to find bits of food

:01:08.:01:13.

But how are they linked to pollution

:01:14.:01:16.

- apart from both starting with the letter P?

:01:17.:01:22.

Well, scientists are using pigeons to gather information by strapping

:01:23.:01:24.

It is known that pollution that comes of our cars with diesel

:01:25.:01:32.

engines rises to rooftop level, but what isn't known

:01:33.:01:34.

is what happens next to the pollution, where does it go?

:01:35.:01:37.

I thought, well, birds, they fly everywhere.

:01:38.:01:54.

If they can carry the sensors, and they are tiny enough, we

:01:55.:01:57.

can start to understand the dispersion

:01:58.:01:59.

Birmingham University are carrying out a test flight.

:02:00.:02:02.

It is the first time we have done this.

:02:03.:02:05.

One of the pigeons is fitted with a small, lightweight sensor

:02:06.:02:08.

Just six minutes later, the pigeons are back and the sensor

:02:09.:02:20.

Rick and his team have been able to find out the route the pigeons

:02:21.:02:33.

The information will help them to figure out how pollution

:02:34.:02:38.

So thanks pigeon number 80, you've done everyone proud.

:02:39.:02:56.

From pollution high in the air, to pollution down on the ground.

:02:57.:02:59.

One student is helping experts find out how clean or dirty

:03:00.:03:02.

the air we breathe is, when we walk around.

:03:03.:03:10.

Logan is doing a very important job. You might wonder what is in his

:03:11.:03:16.

backpack. He has been testing pollution levels in Leicester, with

:03:17.:03:19.

something called a portable air monitor. This kit measures chemicals

:03:20.:03:26.

in the atmosphere. Researchers send him out and about two places where

:03:27.:03:29.

there is a lot of traffic to test things out. We spent a while talking

:03:30.:03:35.

to Logan in a sheltered location and there were some cars there which

:03:36.:03:40.

became parked up. The fascinating thing is during that period when

:03:41.:03:44.

standing still we experienced high levels of pollution than with

:03:45.:03:49.

traffic on the junction. What do his friends think of this information?

:03:50.:03:54.

People have stopped waiting near the buses after school for their

:03:55.:03:57.

friends. They have been waiting closer to the leisure centre and

:03:58.:04:02.

further from the buses. It is obviously had an impact. It is hoped

:04:03.:04:06.

if people know how much pollution is around them at the way they look at

:04:07.:04:08.

the issue will change. Chelsea are now 10 points ahead at

:04:09.:04:10.

the top of the Premier League table. Last night they beat

:04:11.:04:14.

West Ham 2-1 thanks to goals Manuel Lanzini managed to get a goal

:04:15.:04:17.

for the home side in injury time. President Donald Trump has

:04:18.:04:21.

signed a new version The first version led

:04:22.:04:23.

to lots of protests. This new version bans visitors

:04:24.:04:27.

from six mainly-muslim countries, from coming to the US for three

:04:28.:04:32.

months, and puts a stop to all This has been

:04:33.:04:36.

bamboozling me for years. It is a bit of a grey

:04:37.:04:51.

area until now. Pandas have unique black

:04:52.:05:07.

and white patches. Unlike some other types of bears,

:05:08.:05:09.

pandas are active all year round. As they go in search

:05:10.:05:16.

of bamboo to eat they move from warm rain

:05:17.:05:18.

forests to snowy mountains, The white helps them to blend

:05:19.:05:21.

into snowy surroundings and the black helps them to

:05:22.:05:28.

hide in shady forests. The black ears might look cute

:05:29.:05:30.

but they are actually a warning They vary in shape and size

:05:31.:05:33.

from panda to panda. It is thought they help

:05:34.:05:58.

them to recognise each

:05:59.:06:01.
