Hi guys. Welcome to Newsround with Ore and Hayley. We've got eight

minutes of Newsround that will blow you away. Not literally. We've had

enough of that all day! Coming up: Why Wayne Rooney and his England

team have picked up an early Christmas present.

And we've got the bewitching mystery of the mummified cat.

But before any of that, we've got to talk about the weather! Hundreds

of schools across Scotland were shut today and thousands of homes

are without electricity because of hurricane-force winds of up to 165

mph. Forecasters are warning that other parts of the UK could be hit

by huge gusts too. The bad weather has even seen a royal visit in the

North East of England cancelled. I braved the elements to bring you

more. One school playground in Scotland but no pupils today. The

Scottish Government told schools across west, central and southern

parts of the country they needed to close early or not open, because of

the harsh weather battering the country. The Met Office, the people

who tell us what the weather is going to be like, issued its

highest warning - a red alert. In north Ayrshire this bus overturned.

Only the driver was on board. He escaped with minor injuries.

There's been flooding in a number of areas. That's meant not just

closing schools but the roads leading to them. Even Scotland's

top football players weren't protected from the weather. Players

from Hibs were forced to abandon their training. What's causing it

all? Most of our weather comes from the Atlantic and movers up the

United Kingdom. This has been a storm developing over the last 24

hours. It is Noye over Scotland. The white lines tightly packed

together. That means strong winds to the far north of the UK today.

Could we be back at school tomorrow? Probably. The winds will

ease tonight. Tomorrow, much quieter conditions, but much colder

tomorrow. It is not just Scotland that's been affected. The rest of

the UK has taken a bit of a battering too, as you can see. And

a faulty ferry and strong winds on the Irish Sea has led to disruption

to supplies goes to the isle of man. They've got a few shops with empty

shelves. Wow!

Well, all day on-line we've been asking what the weather's like

where you are. Tamzin, who's 11 from Ayr says, "It's so windy here

that our gate blew off and was lying in the middle of the road."

Heather from Livingstone says, "We were having a school play today but

it's been cancelled because of the Had the main part!

Next - Wayne Rooney's had a bit of a topsy-turvy 24 hours. Last night

his team, Man United, failed to get to the knock-out stages of the

Champions League! But then today he found out his Euro 2012 ban has

been reduced to two matches. He was set to miss all three of England's

group games next summer after being sent off in their last qualifier.

But they appealed and he'll now be available for England's final group

game, against Ukraine. The sports news doesn't end there,

because the first runners for the 2012 Olympics have been named, and

without a single athlete in sight. That's right. Almost 7,000 people

who applied to be Olympic torchbearers found out they were

successful today. They'll carry it across the country by land, sea and

air ahead of the Games. Rachel, who's blind and a leader of a local

railway conservation project, was one of the lucky ones. I can't

believe it. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be involved

in such a historical event. Now, Hallowe'en might be a distant

memory, but that hasn't stopped something spooky happening in one

town in Lancashire. The remains of a mummified cat have been found in

what scientists think is an old witch's house. It was discovered in

a sealed doorway and had been there for at least 200 years. Some people

say it was put there to protect the house from an evil curse! Scary.

The little moggy's nine lives had run out, which can't be said for

Drago. Who, I hear you cry? Joe has the details.

Drago is a cat that's been places. This moggy drove his owner's wild

with despair after he mysteriously went missing for two weeks. Andrew

had almost given up looking for him but then he noticed a strange noise

coming from his engine. I heard him miaowing and there was Drago. After

two weeks stuck in there, through a little hole. His head was there and

Drago had been inside the envy for 12 trips across town from his home

to Hull. All in all that's 60 miles stuck in the engine, within a

whisker of his worried owner. He went 14 days without food or water

and lost half his body weight in the process. But after using at

least a few of his nine lives, Drago is back home safe and sound.

It is nice to hear Andrew's car is back purring again too.

If there are two boys that love Newsround it is Jedward. They love

a bit of round news so much that they asked our Leah if she wanted

to hang out. They invited her on their tour bus and even brought her

a costume to wear. Here I come, dumdy dum. We were talking about

what's inside there. I said is there a jacuzzi? Tour buses are

always different. Some tour buss have recording studios, jacuzzis,

and pools, bedrooms. And then they were off. Wait for us! Their fans

travelled from all over the place. According to the boys, they are

Jedicated. These lot were here from 2 in the afternoon. The concert

didn't start for another five hours. Now we are firm friends it was time

to hang out in the dressing room. But not before some dance. When

they are not on tour they use video games. We use a cool video, you can

see it on Jedward T the last time we were here at Hammersmith Apollo

was boot camp for X Factor. It was so nerve-racking. It was cool to

come back and have our own concert. You are amazing but you've got to

clubs Lauren Taylor, who this year became the youngest ever Ladies'

Open amateur champion. How about this for a putt? And swimming

sensation Ellie Simmonds, who won two European gold medals. The
