Good afternoon, everybody - Ore here. You're watching Newsround, | :00:10. | :00:13.
and we've got everything you need to know including - one family's | :00:13. | :00:19.
incredible bush fire escape in Australia. And the couple that | :00:19. | :00:27.
crashed their own wedding in a hot air balloon! First to Australia, | :00:27. | :00:29.
where incredible survival stories are starting to emerge from the | :00:29. | :00:33.
wildfires that have been raging there. Fire crews have welcomed a | :00:33. | :00:36.
big drop in weather temperature, as they continue to battle bushfires | :00:36. | :00:38.
across the south east of the country. Weather experts have now | :00:38. | :00:41.
confirmed that yesterday was Australia's hottest day on record, | :00:41. | :00:44.
with Monday the second hottest. No- one's been killed by the fires, | :00:44. | :00:49.
although many people have had to flee their homes. Here one family | :00:49. | :00:52.
in the state of Tazmania tell the frightening story of their amazing | :00:52. | :00:56.
escape. As flames swept across the state of Tasmania, five children | :00:56. | :00:58.
and their grandparents found themselves trapped by the | :00:58. | :01:04.
uncontrollable blaze. We saw tornadoes of fire coming across | :01:04. | :01:12.
towards us. It came from both directions. It came at us and then | :01:12. | :01:16.
from the side. With no escape, the family were left with little choice | :01:16. | :01:19.
but to jump into a river for safety, even though three of the children | :01:19. | :01:25.
aren't able to swim. Even though there was hot ash all over us, it | :01:25. | :01:32.
was still cold. We were all just water up to our chins just trying | :01:32. | :01:42.
:01:42. | :01:45. | ||
to breath because the atmosphere was so toxic. When the blaze was | :01:45. | :01:47.
finally under control the children were pulled to safety and reunited | :01:47. | :01:53.
with their mum and dad. Just to set your minds at ease, the whole | :01:54. | :01:56.
family escaped safely. Now, the huge heatwave that has gripped | :01:56. | :01:59.
south east Australia has cooled a bit in the last day, making | :01:59. | :02:02.
firefighters' jobs slightly easier. But over 130 fires are still | :02:02. | :02:05.
burning across New South Wales and the temperatures are set to rise | :02:05. | :02:10.
well above 40 degrees at the weekend. We'll have more on the | :02:10. | :02:14.
science behind how these fires started, in our late bulletin at | :02:14. | :02:19.
It's the biggest event in the British film year, and now the | :02:19. | :02:22.
nominations for the BAFTAs have been announced. There are lots of | :02:22. | :02:24.
different categories with awards including best film, best animation | :02:24. | :02:29.
and best British film up for grabs. There's a bit of a horror theme in | :02:29. | :02:31.
the animated film category, with Frankenweenie and Paranorman both | :02:31. | :02:36.
up for the prize, as well as Pixar's Brave. Ricky asked BBC | :02:36. | :02:38.
entertainment reporter Colin Paterson which of the three films | :02:38. | :02:48.
:02:48. | :02:52. | ||
he thinks will win. It depends. If kids were voting, I | :02:52. | :02:56.
think brave would win. It may be frank and Winnie. Maybe not the | :02:56. | :03:06.

Happy Birthday, the Tube! It's 150 years today since the world's first | :03:07. | :03:12.
underground train journey took place in London back in 1863. | :03:12. | :03:17.
Here's how it looked years ago. Quick couple of Tube facts - it's | :03:17. | :03:20.
thought half a million mice live in the tunnels, and there's a | :03:20. | :03:23.
completely unique species of mosquito down there too. To | :03:23. | :03:26.
celebrate the Tube's birthday, a series of stamps and special coins | :03:26. | :03:29.
have been released. And you can see those in a gallery over on our | :03:30. | :03:36.
website right now. Now, is there a more romantic way to get married | :03:36. | :03:41.
that on board a hot air balloon? Well, when the ceremony of your | :03:41. | :03:43.
dreams ends like this, there probably is.This is the moment that | :03:44. | :03:49.
a balloon in America crash landed after a couple got married on board. | :03:49. | :03:59.
:03:59. | :03:59. | ||
Fear not, no-one was badly hurt. So let's hear from the happy couple. | :03:59. | :04:04.
just wanted us to get married in a hot air balloon. I said I was | :04:04. | :04:11.
scared of heights and she said she was. At other was pretty fast. We | :04:11. | :04:21.
:04:21. | :04:22. | ||
were holding on. It bounced a few times. We were tried. -- dried. | :04:22. | :04:25.
me set the scene. Every lunch break your sandwiches are under threat | :04:25. | :04:28.
from a flock of hungry seagulls. Who do you call? Your parents? | :04:28. | :04:31.
Batman? The police!? Nope - a hawk. That's just what a school in | :04:31. | :04:34.
Grimsby have done. The seagulls were a right pain as they stole | :04:34. | :04:38.
kids lunches. So now a hawk patrols the skies above the playground. But | :04:39. | :04:47.
are seagulls really that scary? Eating crisps they come stared down | :04:47. | :04:56. |
