Hi, I'm Ayshah with your afternoon Newsround - today, we'll bring you | :00:08. | :00:12.
British heartbreak on the slopes of Sochi. I am here, where families are | :00:13. | :00:21.
having to leave their homes because the floodwaters keep rising. First, | :00:22. | :00:25.
to what could be the wettest winter for 250 years. Severe flooding has | :00:26. | :00:29.
led to more than 1,000 homes being evacuated in the south-east of | :00:30. | :00:32.
England and thousands more are at serious risk. The army has been | :00:33. | :00:36.
brought in to help out as record water levels continue to rise in the | :00:37. | :00:41.
Thames Valley. With more rain on the way this week, the Prime Minister | :00:42. | :00:44.
said the floods were a huge challenge and that "we are in it for | :00:45. | :00:48.
a long haul" but many of those affected by the floods believe more | :00:49. | :00:52.
should be done to help. Most of the severe flood warnings, meaning | :00:53. | :00:55.
there's a danger to life, are in the Thames Valley in the south east of | :00:56. | :01:00.
England. One of the worst-hit places is the village of Wraysbury, from | :01:01. | :01:07.
where Nel sent us this report. I am here in a small village in the | :01:08. | :01:11.
south-east of England that has been devastated with the local flooding. | :01:12. | :01:17.
Behind me, this is actually a playground, behind that some fields | :01:18. | :01:22.
which are merged and water. Today the emergency services have been out | :01:23. | :01:27.
and about, fire trucks and the army, I have even seen RSPCA officers | :01:28. | :01:33.
doing what they can to help. Bags of sand have been put in people's | :01:34. | :01:38.
doorways to keep the water out as much as possible. The local | :01:39. | :01:43.
community have come together, lots of volunteers trying to help guide | :01:44. | :01:49.
people to places of safety. I will be sticking about to find out how | :01:50. | :01:53.
the locals cope with such a devastating situation. | :01:54. | :01:57.
Next, to the Winter Olympics in Sochi where there was heartbreak for | :01:58. | :02:01.
Team GB's Katie Summerhayes who made it to the slopestyle skiing final | :02:02. | :02:04.
this morning. The 18-year-old did brilliantly to qualify in third | :02:05. | :02:06.
position but couldn't repeat the performance in the final, taking a | :02:07. | :02:10.
tumble in the first of her two runs meaning she could only finish in | :02:11. | :02:20.
seventh place overall. I was gutted. I skied well in | :02:21. | :02:24.
qualification which made me feel well, but I am gutted with my | :02:25. | :02:36.
result. Everyone has falls, and I made two massive mistakes. | :02:37. | :02:39.
It's Safer Internet Day today and the idea is to make the web a nicer | :02:40. | :02:44.
place to be for you guys. But smartphones and social networks are | :02:45. | :02:47.
changing how young people are being bullied. The children's charity | :02:48. | :02:50.
NSPCC says over a third of kids have been bullied online, and it can be a | :02:51. | :02:54.
really upsetting thing to deal with. This afternoon Newsround has a | :02:55. | :02:56.
special programme looking at the problem. I got a notification on my | :02:57. | :03:05.
phone, I wasn't sure if it was a sick joke. Everybody has a | :03:06. | :03:09.
smartphone and it is always there, you cannot get away with it. Don't | :03:10. | :03:14.
retaliate because they want to see how they got to you. With me here on | :03:15. | :03:24.
the sofa is anti-bullying campaigner Alex Holmes. So online bullying can | :03:25. | :03:27.
be really tough - how do you go about dealing with it? Don't suffer | :03:28. | :03:31.
in silence. Reported, things will get better. A BBC poll has shown | :03:32. | :03:35.
that one in five kids have been upset by something they've seen | :03:36. | :03:38.
online, twice the number that parents thought. How can you speak | :03:39. | :03:42.
to your parents about this if they don't know as much about the | :03:43. | :03:45.
internet as you? I had to teach my mum and my grandma. You have got to | :03:46. | :03:50.
become an expert yourself, then teach your parents so they can | :03:51. | :03:55.
become an expert and it will be fun. Why do bullies do it? Good | :03:56. | :04:03.
question, I was bullied myself and I don't know why. There is no excuse | :04:04. | :04:08.
for bullying and it shouldn't happen. If you're having this | :04:09. | :04:13.
problem, who should you speak to? Remember, you are not alone. There | :04:14. | :04:18.
are lots of people you can speak to, it could be your month, the dinner | :04:19. | :04:24.
lady, ora website full of resources and advice. Just look around and | :04:25. | :04:29.
speak out, there will be people who can listen and help. Head to our | :04:30. | :04:38.
website for loads more information on how to stay safe online, with | :04:39. | :04:42.
advice and a quiz too. And you can catch Cyberbullying, a Newsround | :04:43. | :04:44.
special, this afternoon at 5.25pm right here on CBBC. It will also be | :04:45. | :04:48.
on iPlayer too. That's all we've got time for, but Newsround's back this | :04:49. | :04:51.
evening at 6.50pm where we're hoping to hear from the Britain's Got | :04:52. | :04:54.
Talent judges! See you. | :04:55. | :05:00. |
