Hello there. Welcome to Newsround. It is the girls fronting the show | :00:29. | :00:33.
tonight. Sonali and Hayley here with the top stories from around | :00:33. | :00:39.
the world. Ricky is in Kenya in the world's largest refugee camp. | :00:40. | :00:44.
last ever spacewalk involving a shuttle. | :00:44. | :00:47.
First, people in Belfast are bracing themselves for more | :00:47. | :00:52.
violence after yesterday's riots. 22 police officers were injured | :00:52. | :00:56.
when petrol bombs, bricks and stones were thrown at them. | :00:56. | :00:59.
trouble broke out because today is the biggest day of Northern | :00:59. | :01:03.
Ireland's marching season when thousands take part in parades to | :01:03. | :01:09.
celebrate a Protestant victory more than 300 years ago. The camera | :01:09. | :01:13.
operators filming these pictures are hidden behind police vans to | :01:13. | :01:17.
keep out of danger. Last night, a group of Nationalists in Belfast | :01:17. | :01:23.
including kids showed how they felt about Unionists plans to march | :01:23. | :01:28.
through the streets today. People nearby were so frightened they hid | :01:28. | :01:31.
in their homes. The Protestant Orange Order Parade through the | :01:31. | :01:36.
streets to remember winning a battle against the Catholic King | :01:36. | :01:43.
James II. Most Nationalists are Catholic and they want Northern | :01:43. | :01:47.
Ireland to be part of the Republic of Ireland, but most Unionists are | :01:47. | :01:53.
Protestant and they want it to stay part of the UK with England, Wales | :01:53. | :01:58.
and Scotland. From the 1970s to the 1990s armed groups on both sides | :01:58. | :02:02.
used violence to try to get their way. Thousands of people died in | :02:02. | :02:08.
what became known as the Troubles. But in 1998 leaders on both sides | :02:08. | :02:13.
agreed to work towards peace and now they govern Northern Ireland | :02:13. | :02:18.
together. Things have turned ugly in some areas of Belfast... | :02:18. | :02:20.
Newsround went to Belfast this time last year to report on children | :02:20. | :02:24.
taking part in the riots. directly went in and took stones | :02:24. | :02:29.
from their hands and one lad wasn't from the area and I discovered he | :02:29. | :02:34.
was nine years of age and he had travelled from another parish to be | :02:34. | :02:37.
there. Some are worried the violence here is increasing again, | :02:37. | :02:42.
despite most people wanting peace. Riots last month were the worst for | :02:42. | :02:46.
ten years. But things are still far better than they were during the | :02:46. | :02:49.
Troubles. There are lots of people who are determined to make fighting | :02:49. | :02:54.
in Northern Ireland a thing of the past. | :02:54. | :02:58.
The newspaper hacking crisis has got worse after the former Prime | :02:58. | :03:01.
Minister, Gordon Brown, said he was also targeted. Mr Brown's been | :03:01. | :03:05.
talking about how he ended up in tears after being told that a paper | :03:05. | :03:09.
had got hold of private information about his son's serious illness. | :03:10. | :03:16.
Fraser, who you can see holding his dad's hand, was born with cystic | :03:16. | :03:20.
fibrosis. The Sun found out about it and decided to make it a front- | :03:20. | :03:24.
page story. Aid workers say they are struggling to cope with the | :03:24. | :03:29.
amount of people that need help because of the East African drought. | :03:29. | :03:34.
Kids are most at risk in the crisis with tens of thousands fighting for | :03:34. | :03:37.
their lives. Altogether, ten million people are thought to be | :03:37. | :03:41.
affected by the Horn of Africa's worst drought in 60 years. Ricky | :03:42. | :03:50.
has travelled to Kenya for Newsround. | :03:50. | :04:00.
:04:00. | :04:16. | ||
This is his first report. Not to worry because we have a | :04:16. | :04:19.
guest in the studio from Save The Children. This is Nick Martlew. | :04:19. | :04:25.
He's come back from northern Kenya. Tell us how bad it is? I have never | :04:25. | :04:29.
seen children in the state in which they have been arriving at Dadaab | :04:29. | :04:33.
camp. These children have been walking for days or weeks with | :04:33. | :04:37.
nothing. They have the clothes on their back, often no shoes at all | :04:37. | :04:43.
and no food and no water for days on end. I mean, so many people are | :04:43. | :04:47.
donating millions of pounds. Surely that money is helping? Save The | :04:47. | :04:52.
Children has been providing aid in Dadaab for years already. But the | :04:52. | :04:57.
scale of this crisis, it's got so big and so big that we keep having | :04:57. | :05:02.
to respond larger and larger. are saying ten million people could | :05:02. | :05:07.
be affected. What happens? You guy with other charities go out there, | :05:07. | :05:10.
you help people, but what happens? Does this camp stay around? People | :05:10. | :05:15.
won't be able to go back to their homes, will they? Dadaab camp has | :05:15. | :05:19.
been there for 20 years. Really? long as the situation in | :05:19. | :05:24.
neighbouring Somalia stays as bad as it is, agencies will have to | :05:24. | :05:28.
keep giving these children the water, the food, the protection | :05:28. | :05:33.
they need to live a normal life. Can they keep going? Save The | :05:33. | :05:35.
Children will keep going for as long as these children need it. | :05:36. | :05:41.
Thank you very much for coming in and not only helping out in Kenya | :05:41. | :05:46.
but saving the day here! Now, next, we have been telling you | :05:46. | :05:50.
about the last ever Space Shuttle trip on Newsround. Astronauts from | :05:50. | :05:53.
the International Space Station are in the middle of a spacewalk | :05:53. | :06:00.
packing up the Atlantis shuttle before it heads home. The | :06:00. | :06:04.
astronauts' code word for making sure they were both OK, "Ready to | :06:04. | :06:10.
rock 'n' roll, let's go buddy." With the number of events they have | :06:10. | :06:13.
been to, we were not surprised to hear the Duke and Duchess of | :06:13. | :06:16.
Cambridge want a break. Catherine and William are back from their | :06:16. | :06:19.
North American tour and now want to lie low for a bit. What do you | :06:19. | :06:26.
reckon they will get up to? wasn't a holiday but it didn't look | :06:26. | :06:30.
too bad. In Canada, the newlyweds managed to swap their crowns for | :06:30. | :06:35.
cowboy hats and visit a rodeo. Prince William landed a helicopter | :06:35. | :06:41.
in a lake and then did it again and again. They took part in a dragon | :06:41. | :06:45.
boat race and a street hockey penalty shootout, then it was off | :06:45. | :06:49.
to Hollywood. On the red carpet, they schmoozed movie stars like | :06:50. | :06:53.
Nicole Kidman and Tom Hanks. The tour went well but now they are | :06:53. | :06:59.
home in Wales, but will they want to stay out of the limelight? They | :06:59. | :07:03.
don't want to overshadow the Queen's Diamond Jubilee next year. | :07:03. | :07:07.
What will they do? Maybe they will have time for a real holiday riding | :07:08. | :07:12.
a donkey on Blackpool beach. Perhaps they will find time to | :07:12. | :07:16.
watch William's favourite footie team Aston Villa or perhaps catch | :07:16. | :07:20.
Take That in concert. Happy holidays! I hope they get a good | :07:20. | :07:24.
break. What do you get when you cross an owl, a window and some | :07:24. | :07:29.
dust? No, this isn't one of those bad jokes I usually tell! Take a | :07:29. | :07:34.
look at this. This owl made a big impression when it crashed into a | :07:34. | :07:37.
window in Cumbria. Complete with eyes, beak and feathers, the | :07:37. | :07:43.
silhouette was left by a powder the birds carry which helps protect | :07:44. | :07:47.
growing feathers. Animal charities say because the owl couldn't be | :07:47. | :07:50.
found anywhere nearby it probably survived. That is it from us for | :07:50. | :07:54. |
