The little pop career that's been launched on some little-known

talent show. And ahead of a huge year in the USA,

I packed by bags and travelled to the states for an American road

trip. But first, how do you like your

eggs in the morning? And we're not talking scrambled, poached or fried.

Over 30 million eggs are eaten every day in Britain, more than

half of them from hens that live in cages, a lot of which aren't much

bigger than an A4 piece of paper. They're called battery cages and

from next year they'll be banned in Britain and the rest of Europe.

Some cages are still allowed, but chickens will have more space and

places to perch and nest. Leah's got the story.

You might like to think your eggs come from hens like this, but lots

of them come from battery farms like this. Under the old rules,

chickens were packed into cages with just this much space to move

around. They couldn't flap their wings and they had nowhere to nest

or perch. Under the new rules, they're still allowed to live in

cages, but they'll have a bit more space. Animal rights groups are

pleased about the ban. It is excellent news. It means millions

or hundreds of millions of hens will no longer be kept in small

cages. Up until a few months ago, this farm in Cheshire had thousands

of hens in battery cages. This is still a cage. All of the hens have

access to the perch spacious, about 15 centimetres of space for each

bird. They also have a nest box where all the eggs will be laid to

imitate what happens in nature. all eggs come from caged hens. Some

eggs are free range, which means the birds can roam around. But eggs

like these are more expensive to produce. Under the law, any eggs

you buy have to have a label on them saying what kind of hens they

came from. Some big supermarkets have actually stopped selling eggs

from caged hens completely, but animal rights groups say more needs

to be done. They say they'll continue to fight for an all-out

ban, but for now the cages are here to stay.

Now, here's a man with a big year ahead of him. Barack Obama,

President of the United States, and one of the most powerful and famous

men in the world. But in the next 12 months, all that could change.

It's the American elections next year and with lots of people there

facing a tough time right now, Obama has a real battle on his

hands. I've travelled from Obama's home town, Chicago, all the way to

Washington DC to find out what Americans think of their president.

When Barack Obama became President of the United States of America, a

lot of people for change was on its way. It was an historic moment and

many Americans can remember exactly where they were on that famous

night. He gave ordinary people something very important, hope.

Because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining

moment, change has come to America. It started going crazy. It was

amazing to think how one man can bring all of these people together.

120 million people turned out to cast their vote. Some of them had

never voted before and it gave Barack Obama the biggest election

victory for more than 40 years. This is where our road trip starts,

in a very cold Chicago. It is also where Barack Obama's journey to the

White House began and we will follow that route to find out what

Americans think of the President three years on because so far he's

not had any easy ride. It was here that Barack Obama gave that famous

speech before he became one of the most powerful people in the world.

Things have changed three years on. His first three years in charge

have been hard. He has struggled to make things happen and make changes

for top people have said he has not lived up to what they expected and

with less than a year to go before America decides if they want him to

carry on as President, some say America is more divided than ever.

This week I will be hearing both sides of the story, meeting the

people who still have faith in the President, those living in some of

the poorest areas of the country and that people who think it is

time for a change. Tomorrow I'll be finding out what it means to have a

black President in one of the JLS couldn't do it, neither could

the One Direction boys. But these girls did. Little Mix have become

the first ever group to snatch The X Factor crown. But despite this

year's series making history, the show hasn't gone down such a hit

with viewers, as I've been finding out. The winner of the X factor

2011 fears... After ten long weeks of live shows,

this was the moment Little Mix triumphed over super smiley

hairdresser Marcus at Wembley Arena. Little next! - little necks. We are

so great form and thankful to everybody that voted and everybody

Jade, Jesy, Perrie and Leigh-Anne have come a long way since being

put together by the judges at bootcamp. They've had to deal with

negative online comments aimed at Jesy and there was the name change

from Rhythmix to Little Mix. But despite Tulisa's girls making

history, this year's X Factor has It's been knocked down the Saturday

night leaderboard several times by Strictly. And even though 15

million viewers tuned in to watch the final last night, it's four

million fewer than last year - the least watched X Factor final since

2007. But the judges are optimistic the show can still produce the next

Louis Walsh reckons Little Mix are the next big UK girl group. But

they'll have to see off the competition from The Saturdays and

Sugababes and break the winner's curse felt by the likes of Leon

Jackson and Shayne Ward. The first challenge, though, is bagging the

Christmas number one with the winner's single, Cannonball. That

really would be the icing on the So good to see Goldie back on the

stage! You've been talking about this on

the web. Sophie says she thinks X- Factor got fewer viewers because

strictly had good contenders this year.
