on CBBC. On the way this afternoon: Big problems for HMV - we ask why

shops on the high street are having such a hard time. And the college

teaching students how to win The X Factor.

The CD and DVD chain HMV is in big trouble as it struggles to keep up

with online shops. They've had to stop accepting vouchers - so if you

have one at the moment you won't currently be able to spend it. The

shop has had to call in another company to try and help keep its

stores open. It's the latest high street store to be affected by the

country's money troubles. Last year in the UK, 54 big-name companies

had to close some or all of their stores - nearly 4,000 in total -

and that left nearly 48,000 people without jobs. Hayley's been looking

into this story and you have been on the high street, what did you

see? I was out on Manchester high street. This is a city centre high

street, second biggest city in the country and there I was, to the

right an empty shop and Jessops, the camera shop which has closed

all its stores and to the left HMV, which some of the stores could be

closing. We were in the middle of the city centre and it's a

different high street than what was there a few years ago. You were

speaking to a business expert. What do they think think tkpwog happen

about HMV? The BBC business reporter told me there's two

reasons for this. People are shopping more online, they can look

for better deals and also get things cheaper and they're in the

comfort of their own sofa. The country's money problems is the

other thing, people are not going out on the street. The future of

the high street could look different in a few years, he said.

have to go and integrate in them, like coffee shops, book shops,

places where you have to go to. can't order coffee on the internet,

Today's ruling confirms that by law Christians and people of other

faiths in this country should be allowed to wear religious symbols

and clothes at work unless companies decide there are very

The wintry weather is continuing and there've been warnings about

ice and snow across the UK. Lots of schools in the East of England are

closed today, too. It has been snowing across large parts of

England and Scotland today causing problems on the roads and delaying

some trains. The cold snap is not going away any time soon,

forecasters say it will stay until the end of the week. You have been

The former Southampton, Celtic, and Middlesbrough boss, Gordon Strachan,

is the new Scotland football manager. He is replacing Craig

Levein who was sacked in November. His contract will cover the current

World Cup qualifying campaign as well as the Euro 2016 qualifiers.

This is the first time the challenge is on behalf of a nation.

Also, the rewards to that are that if you can be successful you make a

nation happy. And make a nation proud. So, that is the factor for

me, to be able to do that I have to try and do that.

In cricket - England couldn't make it 2-0 against India in the One-Day

International series. Alastair Cook's men lost the toss and had to

chase 286 to win - and they really struggled. Eventually they fell

well short of their target, only reaching 158 all out.

Finally, a college in England is offering students lessons in how to

impress judges on The X Factor. The 17-week course, which costs �95,

will end just in time for the auditions stage later this year.
