Good afternoon. You are watching Newsround with me, Martin. Have you | :00:00. | :00:13.
been having fun and raising lots of cash today? You tell us your Pudsey | :00:14. | :00:17.
plans as we look ahead to a star-studded night of TV. Find out | :00:18. | :00:26.
why I look a bit of a wally for children in need. But first, to a | :00:27. | :00:31.
part of the world where for a week, children have been trying to cope in | :00:32. | :00:35.
unimaginable conditions. For the first time, we've been hearing from | :00:36. | :00:39.
kids caught up in the typhoon, which tore through the Philippines in | :00:40. | :00:42.
South East Asia. Many have been separated from their families. But | :00:43. | :00:45.
there are places of safety and hope for them too. The BBC's Jeremy Cooke | :00:46. | :00:49.
has been to a school in the badly hit city of Tacloban, which has been | :00:50. | :01:02.
turned into a refugee camp. This is a Philippines high school, one of | :01:03. | :01:07.
the few buildings left standing after the storm surge swept through | :01:08. | :01:12.
here a short time ago. What it is now in essence is a refugee camp. | :01:13. | :01:17.
These people have come in from the region, most of them telling a | :01:18. | :01:22.
similar story of destroyed homes. I am happy that my family is united | :01:23. | :01:34.
and my cousins are alive. One weekend we were all fine and | :01:35. | :01:38.
together and now we do not know if some of them are actually alive. | :01:39. | :01:43.
Most people we have spoken to say they are not hungry, not yet, and | :01:44. | :01:49.
they have water. What they are desperate for a shelter. They have | :01:50. | :01:54.
no homes to go back to. They really do, at this point, need help from | :01:55. | :02:00.
the international community. Teachers from the school are taking | :02:01. | :02:05.
details of the families who are registered. Something like 250 | :02:06. | :02:09.
families already. They are taking down names and giving each family a | :02:10. | :02:15.
number. When international aid starts to arrive, they will be | :02:16. | :02:21.
allocated a in an orderly fashion. Everyone is trying to stay positive | :02:22. | :02:26.
but it is positivity in the face of real human tragedy. Now, did you | :02:27. | :02:30.
wear your pyjamas to school today? All round the country, thousands of | :02:31. | :02:34.
you got dressed up in silly stuff to help raise millions of pounds for | :02:35. | :02:38.
Children in Need. These are just some of the brilliant photos you've | :02:39. | :02:41.
sent us. And, tonight, it all gets seriously star-studded. We'll be | :02:42. | :02:46.
able to see an exclusive clip from the Doctor Who 50th anniversary | :02:47. | :02:48.
special. The mighty One Direction will be auctioning off the Pudsey | :02:49. | :02:52.
they designed. And it's the final of the One Show's rickshaw challenge. | :02:53. | :02:56.
Well, loads of you have been doing your bit too. Ricky has been to one | :02:57. | :03:00.
school where they have really been getting into the Children in Need | :03:01. | :03:08.
spirit. I am sure many of you would have turned up to school in your | :03:09. | :03:13.
pyjamas. At this school in Salford, the whole school has turned up | :03:14. | :03:18.
dressed as title case where's Wally? Sentence | :03:19. | :03:29.
do you feel a little bit silly? Quite embarrassed. I feel a little | :03:30. | :03:40.
bit silly but it is all in a good cause. What about you? A little bit | :03:41. | :03:52.
weird. It is all for a good cause. They have this giant cookie here. | :03:53. | :03:58.
You can catch all the action from 7pm tonight. Until then, goodbye. | :03:59. | :04:02.
Thanks, guys. Since the annual Children in Need appeal began in | :04:03. | :04:05.
1980, almost ?700 million has been raised for disadvantaged children | :04:06. | :04:10.
across the UK. One of the projects it helps is Abraham Moss Warriors - | :04:11. | :04:14.
a football club in Manchester - with kids from 44 different countries. | :04:15. | :04:23.
One of them is Ali, who came to the UK from Afghanistan. Since joining, | :04:24. | :04:26.
his confidence has soared. He has even been watched by Manchester | :04:27. | :04:29.
United and says the club's changed his life. I started coming here | :04:30. | :04:38.
three and a half years ago. If I did not have the chance to play for | :04:39. | :04:43.
Abraham Moss warriors, I would probably be sat at home playing | :04:44. | :04:47.
computer games. There is more on that story on the Newsround website. | :04:48. | :04:50.
And you've been telling us how you've been enjoying Children In | :04:51. | :04:53.
Need too. Sophie in Hertfordshire charged ?1 per cake and raised loads | :04:54. | :04:57.
of money for Children in Need. Kaiya in West Yorkshire says, We did Spots | :04:58. | :05:01.
vs Stripes at school. You paid ?1 to enter." And, at one Year five class | :05:02. | :05:06.
in Suffolk, teachers are having a Pie in the Face fundraiser. The | :05:07. | :05:09.
class that raises the most money chooses which teacher gets the pie. | :05:10. | :05:16.
That's all from the Newsround team for today. Enjoy the rest of | :05:17. | :05:27.
Children in Need. Check out the website for some of the cool stuff. | :05:28. | :05:30.
