Hello guys. Martin here taking you into the weekend with your Friday

:00:00.:00:11.

afternoon Newsround. Coming up: I'm at an animal centre meeting some of

:00:12.:00:14.

the cute animals that have been affected by the UK storms.

:00:15.:00:19.

Also, the schoolboy hoping to become the youngest person ever to trek the

:00:20.:00:25.

South Pole. And the train that's packed with Pandas. This is

:00:26.:00:27.

Newsround. First animal charities are warning

:00:28.:00:37.

that recent flooding across large parts of the country has had a

:00:38.:00:41.

devastating effect on the UK's wildlife. Seals are among the

:00:42.:00:46.

animals worst affected. The RSPCA have told us their centres have been

:00:47.:00:51.

really busy taking in seal pups, whose habitats were destroyed last

:00:52.:00:55.

month. It's not just seals though. Barn owls have struggled to hunt for

:00:56.:01:01.

food and many hibernating hedgehogs have been become trapped by the

:01:02.:01:05.

water. I'm at this wildlife centre in

:01:06.:01:08.

Cheshire in the North West of England. They've had a really busy

:01:09.:01:12.

start to the year because of the UK storms, they've received a few

:01:13.:01:15.

animals who have been badly affected. I'm joined now by Lee, who

:01:16.:01:19.

is the manager here. We've got a couple of otters in here. You can

:01:20.:01:24.

see one of them in there at the moment, how old is he? About 15

:01:25.:01:28.

weeks old. With these two otters being so young, that's the problem,

:01:29.:01:32.

they haven't got their parents to look after them. Exactly. They would

:01:33.:01:38.

be reliant on their mum for a good few months. But now they're

:01:39.:01:43.

separated. We monitored them for a while, but there's no chance they

:01:44.:01:46.

would survive on their own, so they've had to come in. Is that a

:01:47.:01:50.

seal I can hear in the distance? That's one of our two seal pups.

:01:51.:01:53.

Lots of animals here. It's a busy time of year. Yeah, it -- yeah, it

:01:54.:01:58.

is. The storm has brought in the otter cups and the seals. These two

:01:59.:02:05.

will be released into the wild in September this year. But it's not

:02:06.:02:08.

just the otters, we have a couple of seals here, one in particular.

:02:09.:02:11.

They've come from the East Coast of England, battered by the storms

:02:12.:02:16.

before Christmas. He's called Kellogg's. Is he OK? Is he going to

:02:17.:02:19.

be released soon? All fingers crossed. He's one of six that came

:02:20.:02:24.

in before Christmas. All of this emare doing extremely well. He's

:02:25.:02:28.

here probably for the next few days. Then we will move them out to the

:02:29.:02:32.

bigger pools outside. He originally came from the East Coast. That's a

:02:33.:02:36.

long way away. How come here he's? Our sister facility in Norfolk,

:02:37.:02:40.

we're struggling with the sheer enoughs that were coming in. Busy

:02:41.:02:45.

time for lots of wildlife centres. Hopefully he'll be back in the wild

:02:46.:02:49.

in a couple of months. Next up, some exciting royal baby

:02:50.:02:53.

news, the Queen's granddaughter, Zara Phillips has had a baby girl.

:02:54.:02:57.

There's no name yet, but the Queen is said to be delighted at the news

:02:58.:03:02.

of a great grand child number four. It's the first child for Silver

:03:03.:03:07.

Medal-winning Zara and her husband former England rugby player Mike

:03:08.:03:10.

Tindall. For an Olympic star to some winter

:03:11.:03:13.

hopefuls. With a few weeks to go before the winter games in Sochi, on

:03:14.:03:17.

the ice things are being looking good. British ice dancers, Penny

:03:18.:03:22.

Coomes and Nick Buckland bagged bronze at the European figure

:03:23.:03:26.

skating championships in Hungary. A British schoolboy is on the brink

:03:27.:03:30.

of becoming the youngest ever person to trek the South Pole. 16-year-old

:03:31.:03:38.

Lewis Clarke has spent six weeks walking for miles in tough

:03:39.:03:40.

conditions. Yesterday he called his school in Bristol to answer

:03:41.:03:44.

questions. He said he will be relieved when he finally reaches the

:03:45.:03:48.

Pole. His family are really proud. There's a British obsession with the

:03:49.:03:53.

polar wastes and there's Everest as well. You feel like Lewis is now in

:03:54.:03:59.

that, sort of, in that group. Really proud he's my brother and that he

:04:00.:04:04.

has done all this stuff and that he's raising money for charity too.

:04:05.:04:08.

If that made you feel cold, warm yourself up on the website. Just see

:04:09.:04:13.

how hot Australia is by watching chocolate melt on the street. And

:04:14.:04:17.

check out a hot new look for Saturday morning's on CBBC.

:04:18.:04:22.

Finally, train journeys, never the most exciting way to spend your time

:04:23.:04:27.

unless your train is covered in pandas. This train in China is

:04:28.:04:34.

covered with cartoon pictures of of Pandas. The pictures are on seats,

:04:35.:04:39.

the doors and even the windows. Yuanzai is a massive superstar there

:04:40.:04:43.

with thousands of people heading to the zoo every day to see her. We

:04:44.:04:47.

posted this stunning video of the secret life of a coral reef on the

:04:48.:04:51.

Newsround website. Go and check it out. Jenny will be here in the

:04:52.:04:55.

morning with all your weekend news. Have a great weekend.
