Hi guys, Leah here with your Thursday afternoon Newsround, and

it's all about the A-listers today. Top names from Team GB on Sir Chris

Hoy, Britain's most successful Olympian, who's retiring from

cycling. And, just how are the 1D boys

keeping so still? This is Newsround.

First, Britain's most successful ever Olympian, Sir Chris Hoy, has

announced he's retiring from cycling.

He's had an incredible career notching up six Olympic Golds -

more than any other Brit - and a massive 11 World titles.

It means he won't be taking part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

next year. Newsround's been speaking to

another very famous Olympian about how she was inspired by Sir Chris.

She is an incredible athlete. What he achieved in his career is

unbelievable. I think as an athlete you get to a stage where physically

you are tired, mentally, preparing for championships year upon year is

really draining. He has achieved so much. I think he is proudly walk

away from his sport and hold his head up high and be very happy.

We've been finding out more about COMMENTATOR: Chris Hoy gets the

Gold medal. That's his sixth Gold medal. He is the greatest British

Olympian ever! At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing he became the first Brit

in 100 years to win three gold medals at the Games. Four years

later he won two more to be crowned Team GB most successful Olympian

ever. Today he brought an end to his incredible cycling career.

can't ask for any more. I have done the best I can. I had an amazing

career. It was here at the National Cycling Centre that Chris would

train six day as week, often on his own, in a bid to achieve his

Olympic dream. He was a role model for me. His dedication and

commitment to cycling inspired other athletes too. He is a real

gentleman, an idol to young kids growing up in cycling is something

he will be remembered for. It's not just Olympians and Paralympians

that Sir Chris inspired, according to British Cycling, the number of

people cycling more than once-a- week has increased by over 200,000.

His decision to retire means he won't be competing in next summer's

Commonwealth Games in Scot London even though the Velodrome has been

named after him. All they he might not be on the track himself, his

legacy undoubtedly will. On the Newsround website you have been

his bike. After an incredible 23 days buried

in thick snow, two sheep have been found alive at a farm in Northern

Ireland. It's thought they'd been sheltering

in a ditch and were only spotted when the snow melted more than

three weeks later. The freezing weather has been

devastating for farmers. Thousands of sheep have died under

deep snowdrifts. This pair though are really lucky

to be alive. Some good news now for one of

Scotland's rarest animals - pine martens.

Numbers had been falling, but now researchers say they are on the up.

They studied their poo to see where they are living and say the

population has increased and there are groups in more parts of the

country than before. Last up - jealous yet?

These 1D fans got really close to the boys.. Ish!

Waxwork models of Harry, Zayn, Niall, Liam and Louis have just

been put on show at Madame Tussauds in London.

The lads had to sit for ages where every bit of them was measured to
