Good afternoon. Welcome. We are in our brand new home in Manchester. | :00:22. | :00:26.
The place might have changed but as always we have the top stories of | :00:26. | :00:31.
the day including... The first boat to sail the seven seas than | :00:31. | :00:37.
completely by robots. And we find out why Ricki is proud to be | :00:37. | :00:43.
British. Awful gear! Is your school falling apart with grotty toilet | :00:43. | :00:49.
and paint peeling off the walls? Or is it shiny and new? A lot of new | :00:49. | :00:53.
schools have popped up around the UK over the last decade, but last | :00:53. | :00:57.
year the government decided to scrap the building schools for the | :00:57. | :01:01.
future programme. Honda Dott you got in touch at the time to tell us | :01:01. | :01:04.
how it affected you, some of the worst hit were children from-and | :01:04. | :01:08.
school in Blackpool. I went back to see if anything has changed. This | :01:08. | :01:11.
is a school for children with physical disabilities, that means | :01:11. | :01:16.
they need more room to get around. But it was not built for that and | :01:16. | :01:21.
last year they invited news round to see the problems that causes. | :01:21. | :01:25.
The classrooms are too small! The corridors are too narrow, it is | :01:25. | :01:29.
impossible to get wheelchairs down. They were told they could have a | :01:29. | :01:32.
new school boy when the government came into power last year they | :01:32. | :01:38.
announced there was no money left. More than 700 building projects are | :01:38. | :01:42.
being axed. Cuts were made in areas including schools, the plans got | :01:42. | :01:48.
changed. The school were told they would get 13 million for their new | :01:48. | :01:51.
state of the art school. When that was cut they said they could make | :01:51. | :01:54.
do with just 5 million. The government said even that was too | :01:54. | :01:58.
much and their hopes for a new School disappeared. But one year- | :01:58. | :02:02.
old they are still here, still facing the same problems. The | :02:02. | :02:05.
singers were not built for children in wheelchairs, so they cannot | :02:05. | :02:09.
reach the taps, the corridors are too narrow to which means some are | :02:09. | :02:12.
taken round the outside of the building to get another classroom, | :02:12. | :02:17.
even in the rain. All the children feel let down. I was upset. | :02:18. | :02:25.
angry. So unfair. What has happened since last time we were here? | :02:25. | :02:30.
got some repairs but it is just papering over the cracks. We really | :02:30. | :02:33.
need a new school, we need the money. They governments say the | :02:33. | :02:37.
decision about the money is down to the local council. They have just | :02:37. | :02:41.
sent this school this letter saying there is no more money right now, | :02:41. | :02:44.
meaning the children here are asking the same question they did | :02:44. | :02:50.
last year dot dot where is our new school?! We asked the government | :02:50. | :02:54.
what they thought about this and the Department for Education sent | :02:54. | :03:04.
:03:04. | :03:15. | ||
We will let you know what ever we hear. It could be the story from a | :03:15. | :03:20.
sci-fi movie, a bad one, sure, but robots are taking of a -- taking | :03:20. | :03:25.
over our waters. Scientists have created the first seaworthy ship in | :03:25. | :03:31.
America to be manned by robots. On the epic 33,000 mile journey four | :03:31. | :03:36.
robots will collect see data in parts of the world. I wonder if | :03:36. | :03:41.
they will sing up row, row, a robot your boat all the way round. They | :03:41. | :03:47.
made me so it, so I did! If that is impressive, this is not. Time is | :03:47. | :03:51.
running out before the latest space probe to Mars runs out of battery. | :03:51. | :03:55.
The Russian rocket launched 12 days ago but engines broke and it got | :03:55. | :04:01.
stuck in the orbit. There is only a short time before the power to | :04:01. | :04:06.
communication systems runs out. So far, attempts to contact it had | :04:06. | :04:10.
failed. It seems like yesterday we watched as massive protests broke | :04:10. | :04:14.
out in Egypt. It is February, thousands of people want in an end | :04:14. | :04:18.
to their poverty and corruption campaign for two weeks to try to | :04:18. | :04:22.
force their President out. He eventually stood down and after | :04:22. | :04:25.
days on the streets people there were looking forward to a bright, | :04:25. | :04:30.
exciting future. Nine months on violence has erupted on the street | :04:30. | :04:38.
again. So scenes of jubilation from earlier this year on the streets of | :04:38. | :04:44.
Cairo, Egypt's capital and the centre of the protests. Night after | :04:44. | :04:47.
night they assembled in Tahrir Square, demanding President Mubarak, | :04:47. | :04:51.
the man in charge of the country, would go. This is the moment their | :04:51. | :04:56.
wishes became true. But now, in that same square, the protesters | :04:56. | :05:01.
are back. So what has happened? The protesters say little has changed, | :05:01. | :05:04.
the military have been rowing the country since the President was | :05:04. | :05:10.
overthrown. -- running the country. Elections are due next week, but | :05:10. | :05:15.
protesters are angry the military could keep hold of too much power. | :05:15. | :05:19.
Protests became violent over the weekend and more than 20 people | :05:19. | :05:23.
have now been killed. It is not what the people behind Egypt's | :05:23. | :05:30.
revolution hoped for. Hello. I spoke to these kids about what is | :05:30. | :05:38.
happening there. We are just trying to keep safe, keep going out to a | :05:38. | :05:43.
minimum, go out in numbers. We have to be careful, if anything gets | :05:43. | :05:47.
worse, we have to be more careful going to school. The violence in | :05:47. | :05:51.
Egypt shows that changing a country involves a whole lot more than just | :05:52. | :05:57.
removing the man in charge. All this means next week's elections | :05:57. | :06:01.
are in doubt now, and so is the future of the thousands of people | :06:01. | :06:08.
here. We have been asking you what gets you bursting with pride? | :06:08. | :06:12.
ting up in the morning. I find it really hard right now. Anyway, a | :06:12. | :06:16.
survey has listed the top 10 things that make us proud to be British. | :06:16. | :06:22.
We went to find out what you think. William Shakespeare, the man behind | :06:22. | :06:26.
Romeo and Juliet, topped the poll of people who make you most proud, | :06:26. | :06:29.
closely followed by the Armed Forces, the Union Jack and the | :06:29. | :06:35.
Royal Family. Four lads from Liverpool, the Beatles, also made | :06:35. | :06:40.
it onto the list. For me, I am most proud of the BBC, then again, I am | :06:40. | :06:47.
biased! We are holding the Olympics next year, I am well proud that we | :06:48. | :06:53.
will be holding it in London. have good tolerance in the country. | :06:53. | :07:00.
We are kind to other people, not just white people. It is enough for | :07:00. | :07:04.
even the most unpatriotic person to shed a tear. It has got me in the | :07:04. | :07:14.
:07:14. | :07:16. |
