Hi guys. It is apm and We're live. Leah and Joe here with all today's | :00:26. | :00:28.
top stories. Coming up: | :00:28. | :00:33.
The British spaceship getting closer to the sun than ever before. | :00:33. | :00:38.
What do you do when you find a bear stuck up a tree? | :00:38. | :00:41.
First, the Queen has returned to the site of one of the worst | :00:41. | :00:44.
disasters in British history. 40 years ago not many people had heard | :00:44. | :00:48.
of Aberfan in Wales, but for one truly terrible day in 1966, it | :00:48. | :00:52.
became the focus of the world. than 100 children lost their lives | :00:52. | :00:56.
when waste from a coal mine slid down a mountain and swamped their | :00:56. | :01:03.
school. You might find some of this report upsetting. A tragic day. | :01:03. | :01:06.
Pantglas Junior School was packed with children from the village of | :01:06. | :01:11.
aber fan, but from the mountain above their school, tonnes of muddy | :01:11. | :01:15.
waste cascaded down the slopes and engulfed the school and nearby | :01:15. | :01:19.
houses. At 7.30am that morning a man warned | :01:19. | :01:24.
that a slide might be imminent. It was a disaster waiting to happen, | :01:24. | :01:29.
but nobody listened to the warnings. It had been raining for days so the | :01:29. | :01:35.
natural springs underneath the mine overflowed. They started speeding | :01:35. | :01:38.
down the mountain and piled thousands of tonnes of rubble and | :01:38. | :01:43.
mud on to the village. Hundreds of people rushed to the school to | :01:43. | :01:46.
reach the people trapped underneath. Mining was a huge industry back | :01:46. | :01:50.
then and most of the people from the village worked in the pits. | :01:50. | :01:53.
Everyone knew the dangers of the job, but the miners never thought | :01:54. | :01:58.
they would be digging to save their own children. It was in vain. It | :01:58. | :02:03.
was just too big. 116 children and 28 adults lost their lives. The | :02:03. | :02:07.
disaster shocked everyone because despite the fact that 145 children | :02:07. | :02:11.
survived, almost an entire generation of young people had been | :02:11. | :02:15.
wiped out. When The Queen came to pay her respects, it was clear she | :02:15. | :02:23.
was deeply moved by what happened. Mosh More than 40 years on, she | :02:23. | :02:27.
returned to Aberfan today. It brings back poignant memories of | :02:28. | :02:34.
what happened on that day, but with the support of the Queen it helped | :02:34. | :02:38.
us get through very difficult times. Her Majesty opened a new school in | :02:38. | :02:43.
the village which is part of her Royal tour of Wales. The tragedy | :02:43. | :02:46.
led to big changes in mining safety and The Queen's visit here today is | :02:46. | :02:55.
designed to reassure the people of terrible day will never be | :02:55. | :03:01.
forgotten and hopefully never Barcelona are waving goodbye to | :03:01. | :03:04.
their most successful coach ever, Pep Guardiola. He has announced he | :03:04. | :03:08.
is leaving at the end of the season despite winning 13 trophies in four | :03:08. | :03:13.
years including two Champions Leagues. He says it is because he's | :03:13. | :03:16.
tired. Chelsea, Liverpool and England could all be interested in | :03:16. | :03:20.
him as their coach, but he says he wants to take a year off from the | :03:20. | :03:25.
game. Check this out. The sun has been fascinating | :03:25. | :03:29.
scientists for years and keeping us all toasty warm. It's bit bright | :03:29. | :03:37.
though. That's true. Well, the problem for experts has always been | :03:37. | :03:40.
that they can't get much closer than this to find out any more | :03:40. | :03:47.
been given the green light and I've been out to find out how it'll work. | :03:47. | :03:52.
The sun, a burning ball of metal, gas and plasma. It maybe almost 150 | :03:52. | :03:57.
million kilometres away, but without it, we wouldn't exist. Ever | :03:57. | :04:03.
since we realised that the Earth I shall ots the sun we have been | :04:03. | :04:07.
striving to find out more about our fascinating star and our latest | :04:07. | :04:13.
mission will take us closer to the sun sun than we have ever been. Say | :04:13. | :04:18.
hello to the solar orbiter. The plan is to launch it into orbit | :04:19. | :04:26.
closer than any other satellite. recent years, we have been able to | :04:26. | :04:30.
build spacecraft that get us a better view of the sun. Now we will | :04:30. | :04:34.
get so close that we will be able to see what is happening right on | :04:34. | :04:37.
the surface of the sun. Being close to the sun, will mean | :04:37. | :04:41.
facing temperatures up to 500 degrees Celsius. That's more than | :04:41. | :04:45.
twice as hot as most kitchen ovens can get and you wouldn't want to | :04:45. | :04:48.
put expensive electronic equipment in there, would you? Surely as the | :04:48. | :04:53.
spacecraft gets close to the sun, it will get frazzled? It is | :04:53. | :04:57.
designed to with stand those temperatures. It has a special heat | :04:57. | :05:01.
shield at the front. It has little windows in it that the instruments | :05:01. | :05:06.
can look through and shut to protect the the spacecraft. | :05:06. | :05:11.
It will take five years to build, but when it is launched, it should | :05:11. | :05:16.
help shed light on the most vital thing in our universe. | :05:16. | :05:22.
Lady Gaga kicked off her World Tour this afternoon. Watch out for the | :05:22. | :05:28.
flashes coming up. .This Is the star arriving in South Korea, but | :05:28. | :05:34.
authorities have banned anyone from under 18 from going to see the show. | :05:34. | :05:38.
Now it's not long until the eyes of the world will be on London for the | :05:38. | :05:42.
Olympics Games. Some of the world's top athletes will be on show but | :05:42. | :05:45.
Ricky's been to meet some of team GB getting attention for a | :05:45. | :05:48.
different reason. We know about the 100 meters, the diving, but there | :05:48. | :05:53.
are so many other sports involved in the 2012 Games. Including a bit | :05:53. | :05:58.
of this! The big dribble might sound | :05:58. | :06:02.
disgusting, but it is the name of a campaign taking place all over the | :06:02. | :06:06.
UK to raise the profile of hockey. Who better to show you some skills | :06:06. | :06:14.
than international stars. First up, under 18 star, Hannah | :06:14. | :06:23.
Pike. Special skill, the Indian dribble. Next, Team GB star, Sam | :06:23. | :06:28.
with the drag flick and then there is Martha Watson, she is a goalie | :06:28. | :06:32.
and brilliant at stopping the ball with her foot! | :06:32. | :06:38.
Mm! Not a lot of people maybe think of hockey as an important sport or | :06:38. | :06:42.
a sport they will watch at the Olympics, why do you think that is? | :06:42. | :06:49.
Hockey is the fourth most participated sport. | :06:49. | :06:57.
I thought I would give it a go too. The Big Scrap dribble is attempting | :06:57. | :07:03.
to dribble hockey balls 2,000 kilometres across Britain. You are | :07:03. | :07:08.
all invited to take part as the roadshow continues. | :07:08. | :07:13.
Finally, the age old problem of how to get a big bear down from an even | :07:13. | :07:16.
bigger tree? Well, rangers at an American University used a | :07:16. | :07:20.
tranquillizer gun to try and bring this guy in safely. He hung on in | :07:20. | :07:26. |
