Feathers, Fossils and Tiny Brains The Let's Go Club

This is the Let's Go Club, but mini!

Expect making, exploring, supersizing, dancing,

fact-finding, and laughing.

We've only got a few minutes,

so get ready for more fun from the Let's Go Club.

Fact fans - today we're finding out all about dinosaurs.

Super-sharp claws, gigantic jaws,

scales and spikes, and teeth that bite.

Flying, soaring, plodding, roaring, feathers and horns,

some small, some long.

The fiercest creatures, now gone forever!

Let's get to those facts.

First up - nobody knows exactly what colour dinosaurs were.

Hi, Dino!

Dinosaur remains have been found in rocks, called fossils,

but their colour didn't keep after being buried in rocks

for millions of years.

People weren't alive at the same time as dinosaurs,

so no-one was around to take a dino photo to remember their colours.

Maybe there was a stripe-eratops, or a spotty-osaurus.

Next - some dinosaurs had skulls that were as long as a car.

What a honking fact!

But, even though they were such huge creatures,

most dinosaurs had tiny brains,

like the stegosaurus, who was the size of a bus,

but had a brain no bigger than a lemon.

Definitely not a brainy-osaurus!

Next, the word dinosaur means terrible lizard.

That sounds like a tall tale.

Dinosaurs didn't look much like lizards.

In fact, scientists now think that velociraptors were covered in

feathers, and about as big as a turkey.

Gobble, gobble!

But watch out - those little legs could travel as fast as a car.

Maybe that's why velociraptor means speedy robber.

And, finally - dinosaurs were one of the first creatures to use toilets.

Let's flush out the truth. Millions of years ago,

dinosaurs shared the spot where they did their business.

They pooped in the same place to mark out their land,

and keep other dinosaurs away.

Researchers know this because they found lots and lots of

dino dung clumped together in fossils in South America.

The collection of poop was so large

that it was deposited in a museum.

A poo-seum! Fact.
