-where they are celebrating in style.

-let's hear what happened in Wrexham.

-I'm excited and we've done this for

-many years and it's getting better.

-It's the biggest parade

-in North Wales!

-Wrexham has hosted a

-St David's Day event for many years.

-This is the third the Welsh Language

-Initiative has organized it.

-It's growing each year and there's

-a great atmosphere in the town.

-It's a lot of fun as we celebrated

-in school and come to the town.

-have had a memorable day.

-Yes, we've been busy preparing

-for the day.

-We made banners with the artist,

-Eleri Jones.

-There was a procession through

-the town led by the Cambria Band.

-It's been a happy St David's Day.

-I enjoyed carrying the large banner

-and doing the work for this day.

-Rebecca's been busy organizing it

-but why is this so important?

-The Welsh language belongs to us all

-so we wanted a community event.

-It's great that hundreds of people

-have turned out to enjoy themselves.

-has been incredibly busy today.

-Yes, we've been in Flint,

-Wrexham and Treuddyn.

-their first parade was a success.

-The children were singing as locals

-and visitors lined the streets.

-It all climaxed with a concert

-by the children in the town hall.

-As well as the St David's Day

-celebrations...

-..there was a lot of focus on

-Ysgol Gymraeg Dewi Sant in Llanelli.

-The primary school

-is celebrating 70 years.

-It was the first Welsh medium school

-funded by the authority.

-The pupils are as proud of the

-school as they were 70 years ago!

-The school is celebrating

-its 70th birthday.

-Today, we're showing pride in our

-school and attempting to recreate...

-..the excitement that was

-in the town 70 years ago.

-We start the day with our assembly

-and every child will perform.

-It's a pleasure to return

-to the school.

-I spent 12 happy years

-at the school...

-..working closely with the staff,

-pupils, parents and governors.

-We guaranteed the Welsh Language

-had an vital role in the community.

-This is a special milestone

-in the history of the school.

-When the school was established

-70 years ago...

-..there were only 34 pupils and

-three teachers at Zion Chapel.

-The school has grown with over 450

-pupils and 56 staff members.

-I was eight when I started

-at Ysgol Gymraeg Dewi Sant.

-The first parents were praised

-for sending children to the school.

-In those days, they didn't know

-if it would be successful.

-I returned to the school as a

-teacher and I have fond memories.

-We're going to walk to Zion Chapel,

-which is where the school started.

-Today is a special day as a blue

-plaque will be unveiled.

-Two original and current pupils will

-unveil the plaque.

-My favourite part of the day

-is seeing old teachers return.

-We haven't seen them

-for a long time.

-My favourite moment was singing on

-the way down to the chapel.

-It has been a lot of fun.

-In Dewi Sant, the parents attitude

-towards the language and culture...

-..has always been healthy and

-we don't worry about its future.

-There call for this school continues

-to be strong today.

-It's important that we don't forget

-the battle for the Welsh school.

-If we didn't celebrate like this,

-the children wouldn't know...

-..and all would be forgotten.

-It was wonderful to return for the

-celebrations and see the children.

-The current children are the future

-and will take the language ahead.

-growing and so is our provision...

-..so it's a very exciting time.

-Yes, I'm one of the Welsh buddies

-in the college.

-In my role, I try to help people

-use the language in the college.

-Tomos has taken advantage of this

-and has learnt Welsh.

-Why did you learn Welsh?

-It's important for me to speak

-the language of my country...

-..and there's a lot of advantages

-to doing that.

-What is the World's Best Referee,

-I wanted to show my support as

-a lot of people are learning Welsh.

-It's important to thank them

-for learning the language.

-I want to encourage people to use

-the language outside the classroom.
