Good afternoon. The security forces in Bahrain have

moved armoured vehicles on to the streets of the capital. As the

political opposition claims that a protester there has been killed in

antigovernment demonstrations. Qualifying is taking place for

tomorrow's controversial Grand Prix. The race authorities are insisting

that the race will go ahead. We have this report from Dan Roan.

It is Bahrain's fortress in the desert. This, the ramped up

security presence on the road surrounding the island's

motorracing circuit this morning. The authorities leaving nothing to

chance as Bahrain braced itself for this, the second of three days of

rage. The drivers are here to drive. They are focused on the race,

leaving those that run the sport to defend the wisdom of rirning here

after last year's cancellation. I feel very comfortable having the

race in Bahrain after a great Grand Prix we had in China last week.

Also before throw weeks ago in Barcelona for the first Grand Prix

in Europe. This is not the build up to the

race that the organisers wanted. Antigovernment protesters marched

along a highway until they were dispersed. Today came the reports

that a body of a protester had been found in a village.

A man was taken yesterday as he was protesting at 7.00pm. Today the

government claims they have found his body. At the same time, the

villagers are now surrounded by armoured vehicles. There are more

than 100 youths arrested in the past three days, just because the

government want it to seem like it is quiet in Bahrain while the

Formula One takes place. Later, activists from the Shia

majority are expected back on the streets. The divided island Sunni

leaders struggle to contain the anger.

Bahrain's most prestigious sporting event helps the rulers to pro tray

stability to the outside world. They are in no mood for a U-turn.

With the Grand Prix fast- approaching, this is a racing

weekend like no other. F1 is a sport famous for risk-taking but

this could be the biggest gamble it ever takes.

The Chancellor, George Osbourne, has been defending his decision to

make a further loan of �10 billion to the -- International Monetary

Fund. It is used to help economies in

trouble, including in the eurozone. Some have criticised his decision.

With the world's economic recovery fragile, the finances ministers

have been under pressure from the International Monetary Fund to top

up the war chest. Britain has contributed already about �30

billion, but with fears that more countries may face difficulties,

the Chancellor is convinced that loaning an additional �10 billion

is in the country's best interest. It is in our interest to have a

strong IMF. So Britain is making a loan, a loan that we expect to give

back. Anyone WHO has given money to the IMF has gotten it back. It will

make it stronger. There is controversy over last

month's Budget, Euro-sceptics believe this is good money after

bad to prop up a Euro that Britain is not a part of.

I think that the decision to give another �10 billion is a bad

decision. What has happened to all of the other billions we have

given? It has not fixed the problem. Greece has received a bail out, but

there are fears that other European nations are heading that way.

Critics say that Britain should not give more funds until Europe gets

its house in order. The IMF cannot step in and to

become the Central Bank of theow area. Ossetias -- George Osbourne

was right when he said before that there should be no support for

theow until he has seen the colour of their money.

Lord Ashley, the Labour peer and disability rights campaign Haas

died at the age of 89. He was the first deaf member of Parliament. A

passionate advocate for the rights of disabled people.

The police in North Yorkshire Police have issued a warning

following the death of a teenage girl who died after taking a drug,

thought to contain an am feet mean. It is described as a yellowy-white

paste, a 21-year-old man is in hospital seriously ill. The police

have warned people in the area to avoid taking substances with a

similar discription. Military planners have raised

concerns that the Government could be planning to order an inferior

version of a Royal Navy aircraft. It has been said that there are

serious doubts about the capability of the Jump Jet.

The last Labour government envisaged that Britain would fly a

Jump Jet version of the latest fighter plane of its new aircraft

carrier being belt. It would be launched off a ski jump and land

vertically on the deck, but this Government reversed that decision

and said it wanted to buy the carrier variant being tested. David

Cameron argued that this version was the better plane because it had

a longer range and could carry more weapons.

But the cost of fitting catapults on a ship to launch the longer

range plane has spiraled. In an effort to save money in the short-

term, the Government is expected to announce another jufplt turn and

confirm it will go back to buying the Jump Jet version instead, but a

classified MoD document, seen by the Daily Telegraph is to raise

concerns over the expected reversal. It notes that overall, the carrier

version of the plane is more capable than the Jump Jet version.
