Good afternoon. The Department of Health says it will investigate the

decision to appoint Jimmy Savile as head of a task force overseeing

Broadmoor secure hospital in 1998. Police are investigating

allegations that television presenter abused young girls over

decades. Some patients abroad were claimed the attack there whilst he

was working as a volunteer. The latest questions centre on

Jimmy Savile's work with some of Britain's most vulnerable hospital

patients. N Broad were at a high- security psychiatric facility it is

alleged he carried out abuse. In 1998, he led a task force

overseeing the management of a hospital. A former patient has

described how he was given the keys and allowed to go wherever he

wanted. The Department of Health says it will investigate its own

conduct in appointing Jimmy Savile. We want to establish the

circumstances and see if any lessons can be learned. In

hindsight he should not have been appointed. Had anyone involved in

the appointment been aware of allegations of abuse, we would not

have expected him to have been appointed. Some of his alleged

victims are seeking legal advice. cannot get over enough what a

breach of trust this will have been, that people who are really at their

lowest ebb, who cannot speak out for themselves, who relied on Jimmy

Savile as a champion for their cause, for him to have abused them

in this way explains probably why the delay has occurred in people

speaking out. Claims have also been made that Jimmy Savile abused young

patients at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Although the alleged

abuse took place many years ago, victims could be given permission

to take their claims for compensation to the courts,

potentially costing the NHS hundreds of thousands of pounds.

The chief executive of the Royal Bank of Scotland has said he is

disappointed at the collapse of the sale of more than 300 branches to

the Spanish banks Santander. Stephen Hester said there would be

no disruption to customers and they would seek a new buyer. They had

been ordered to sell their assets by the European Commission.

RBS was selling more than 300 branches not because it wanted to,

but because it was forced to. The sale was ordered by the European

Commission and was the price the bank had to pay for the approval of

a �45 billion Government bail-out. But the deal turn sour. Santander

says it pulled out because the entire process was taking too long

and there was no chance of it being completed in a reasonable time

frame. Yet RBS's chief executive Stephen Hester insists all the

heavy lifting had been done. It has prompted speculation that Santander

may have preferred to focus on its existing business at a time when

its Spanish parent has been badly affected by the ongoing crisis in

the euro-zone. But it leaves RBS in a difficult position. RBS needs to

find a new buyer or to float the business. Lloyds TSB had great

trouble finding a buyer. insists its customers will not be

affected by the collapse of the sale. Nevertheless, 1.8 million

account holders and 240,000 businesses have been left unsure

who their back will be in 12 months' time.

A woman has died in a house fire at Enniskillen in Northern Ireland.

Fire officers found that 42-year- old woman in a bedroom. She died

later in hospital. An investigation is under way.

A car bomb at a crowded market in north-western Pakistan has killed

at least 15 people. Dozens more were wounded in the explosion in a

town south of pressure wire. The blast targeted the offices of a

local pro-government militia. The space shuttle Endeavour, which

was taken after service last year, is making its final journey through

the streets of Los Angeles on the back of a 160 wheel lorry where it
