Dozens of people have died during overnight clashes in Cairo.

Most of the victims appear to have been killed when the army opened

fire on protest by supporters of the ousted Egyptian President, Morris

Hatalsky. It has been said that more than 100

people have been killed and at least 1,000 injured. Jim Muir has more

from Cairo. It is what everyone feared, given

the sharp rise in tensions on the streets. Skirmishes broke out around

the mosque and eastern Cairo, which has become the centre of the protest

of supporters of Morris Hatalsky. Supporters tried to push back the --

Morsi. Medics said that 70% of those

wounded were hit by live fire. Most killed were hit in the head or the

chest by snipers, firing from the rooftops.

It was a hell. A hell. Within six hours or now, eight hours, we

accepted now more than 1 00 people. More than 100 died and more than

1,000 people have been injured. Tension and apprehension were raised

by the rallies by the anti-morsi demonstrators in the square and

vigilantes clashed with the Morsi supporters. The violence here will

reinforce fears that the crackdown against the Muslim brotherhood and

the Morsi supporters maybe in the offing.

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murdering a mother of

two in Salford. Linzi Ashton, 25, was found dead at her home in June.

Her ex-boyfriend, Michael Cope, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Linzi Ashton was the mother of two young children, 25. She was found

dead at her home in Salford on the 29th of June. A postmortem concluded

she died from pressure to her neck and multiple injuries. Michael Cope,

her former boyfriend has been the subject of a police search for the

last four weeks. It was thought he may have been sleeping rough. A

fortnight ago, the police released this footage of him shoeping for

food. Michael Cope was the subject of an

appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch programme. Last night it is

understood that Michael Cope handed himself in officers at an adecrease

in Greater Manchester. As tributes were paid to Linz Linz lin, the

police thanked the public for their positive response during the

four-week hunt for Michael Cope. Two other men have been charged, one

with perverting the course of justice, the other for assisting an

offender. -- Linzi Ashton. The cost of car insurance is falling

according to the A A. Prices are down by 9. 8% on last year. The A A

said that the dip was due to clampdowns on fraud and restrictions

on claim claimant management restrictions.

We think that the trend is to continue for the rest of the year,

but I point out that this has followed sharp rises in premiums in

recent years. In 2010 premiums rose by 40%. We have a long way to go.

A train driver suspected of causing Spain's deadliest disaster in ten

years is refusing to answer questions.

The police said that they arrested the 52-year-old on suspicion of

reckless driving, following the crash that left 78 people dead. The

driver is under guard in hospital and expected to be questioned now by

a judge. Now a day of sport and the London

Business in Notting Hill say that they have lost thousands of pounds

in trade because of works to repair a hole beneath the road's surface.

Thames Water says it is working hard to complete the repairs as quickly

as possible, but businesses say that it is move moving customers away.

This is a traffic-free zone and has been since April when a hole was

discovered that need needed emergency repairs.

This man says that the sales here have dropped by 70% since the road

was closed off and the bus-stop suspended.

It has been terrible with the business. There is no passing by

trade. The business is going down. It is becoming difficult for us as

the traders. The huge crater under the road was

caused when a burst water main leaked into the soil below to reveal

a network of unstabling caverns that had to be filled. .

We are really sorry to the people and the businesses nearby. We know

how important that part of London is, how it can affect the businesses

with this type of closure. We have a fair compensation in claims process.

There are thousands of road works every day, cost costing trade

millions. Businesses I have spoken to here say

that they are not comforted by the fact that this could be completed by

next week. They have lost out on thousands of pounds that they could

have made over the summer. It has had effect on the business

and everyone else's welfare. It is impossible to stand here for ten

hours with a jack hammer next to you.

Local businesses who have suffered worst will be applying for

compensation as they prepare for what could be a difficult few months

ahead. The police have launched a murder

investigation after a man was stabbed in the back in East London

last night. The man in his 30s, was attacked in popular after 10.00pm.

He was taken to hospital but he died from his injuries. Two men have been

arrested. The Olympic Park is reopening this

weekend to mark the first anniversary of the 2012 Games, but

this afternoon sees the start of a two arts festival. The event is

called Open East. There will be a floating cinema, travelling along

the canals that link the Olympic areas. The boat will show film

screenings and other cultural events.

There are many different activities on the waterways, ranging from

screenings and live performances, that delve into the heritage of the

wareways of East London. Also showing scale outdoor screenings on

the bank. Now the weather.

For most, a fine start to the weekend, but for many that will not

last. Rain is on the way. Wet weather is around in places, but

that rain is taking a time to arrive. A fairly complex weather set

up. The satellite picture showing this clump of cloud. There is active

thunder storms that pass close to the south-east corner. Then, notice

the cloud brewing over France. That is pushing to the north through the

rest of the afternoon. That will bring in heavy showers to central

southern England. Some sunshine to be had as well. Northern Ireland not

doing so badly. A few showers. Showers in Scotland. They could be

heavy and with thunder. In the showers in the north of England,

where there is sunshine, it is feeling warm at up to 26 Celsius.

Cooler in Wales and the south-west, but coming east, this is where we

have the risk for the downpours developing with the odd rumble of

thunder. Spells of dry weather continuing at the Olympic Park for

the London Anniversary Games. Showers developing here through the

later part of the afternoon. A similar story for the horse racing

at Ascot. It is dry at the moment but with the risk of showers.

Through the evening, the showers in the south is likely to join together

to give longer spells of rain. Rain in the south Midlands. That working

to the north. Some seeing up to 50 millimetres of rain. That could

cause localised flooding. Rain in the east as well. The odd rumble of

thunder. The weather tracking through into southern and eastern

Scotland. Behind it, drier conditions following in, not a cold

night, up to 16 Celsius. Aing soy start tomorrow morning. The

rain trundling to the north. Then skies with sunshine to follow. A

breezy day but in the best of the sunshine still up to 25 Celsius. Now

the unsettled look to the weather is continuing into Monday and Tuesday.
