The Foreign Office has confirmed that the British Embassy in Yemen is

to close tomorrow and Monday because of increased concerns about

security. The move comes after the United States issued a global travel

alert and warned that the potential for an attack by al-Qaeda was

particularly strong in the Middle East and North Africa. Rajesh

Clashes on the streets of the Yemeni capital show ongoing security

concerns in the country, but the US is worried a new terror plot could

be brewing. So worried that it is closing its embassy in Sana'a and 20

other cities across the Muslim world on Sunday. It has issued a global

travel alert for US citizens and says there is a significant threat

in the Middle East and North Africa. It is an al-Qaeda affiliated threat,

yes. Is the threat to blow up an embassy, consulate or something

else? That part of it is unspecified but the intent seems clear. The

intent is to attack Western and not just US interests. US diplomats

across a huge area will close on Sunday and officials fear tourist

sites could also be targets. The US wants no repeat of this, the attack

on its consulate in Benghazi, Libya, last year. Militants killed four

people including its ambassador. Written is responding to the alert,

closing its embassy in Yemen for two days from tomorrow. The US and UK

share a lot of intelligent and the British say it is a precautionary

measure. The British has not issued a regionwide travel alert and at the

moment it says just the one embassy will be closed in the next couple of

days. It has said some staff have been withdrawn due to what it says

are security concerns. Yemen is home to al-Qaeda's offshoot in the

Arabian Peninsula. It is suspected of previous terror plots, including

trying to blow up a plane bound for Detroit on Christmas Day 2009, and

targeting the UK deputy ambassador in 2010. He escaped a suicide bomb

attack on his convoy. Earlier this week, President Obama met Yemen's

president and talked about al-Qaeda in the Arabian peninsula. This

latest alert shows how potent force it thinks the threat is.

Twitter has apologised to women who have experienced abuse on the social

network. Three female journalists and a Member of Parliament said they

had been threatened with bomb threats and rape via the site. In

the last hour, Twitter's UK General Manager, Tony Wang, wrote: With me

Quite a few high-profile cases and women from all walks of life have

been subjected to some vicious as more attacks on Twitter, most

notably Caroline Criado-Perez, she had been campaigning for Jane Austen

were killed during flight training in the Scottish Highlands. Their

bodies were taken away to be buried and the wreckage of the planes left

- apart from at one site near Lochinver, which at the time was

considered too remote for the bodies to be retrieved. Now a memorial has

with this one exception, the bodies were removed, the wreckage left.

To think of a suitable memorial that was going to last and not going to

require too much long-term maintenance, that was all planned.
