Good evening. Storms and high tides have left hundreds of homes flooded

across the UK, from Cornwall to West Wales and Scotland. And there are

warnings of more flooding in the coming days. The Environment Agency

is advising people to avoid coastal paths and promenades. The search is

continuing for a teenager who disappeared after going to take

photos of the storm, as Jon Kay reports.

For two days in terrible conditions, life boat crews have been set Ching.

Looking for 18-year-old Harry Martin who went missing in a tidal surge.

The photography student was last seen taking the Jews of the storm on

a coastal path near Plymouth. -- pictures. We have been searching for

quite a while and hopefully we'll have some good news. Prayers go out

to his family. He is part of the community and this is when

communities come together. The coastal clear up is going to take

some time. This was Aberystwyth. Pounded again this morning. Tyrone

Davis cannot leave what it has done to his beach-front gym. There are

stones and seaweed amongst the running machines. It has ruined

everything. It is the second time it has happened in the last three

months. The power of the sea is so strong. This is not the sea but it

is starting to look like it. Miles inland the Somerset levels are

filling with water. This afternoon extra pumping equipment arrived.

Once this kit is in place it should take about a tonne of water from the

more every second and pump it into the river. But local people just

wish it had happened sooner. On their farm close by the Sadler

family feared that the pumps have got here too late. There are now

taking precautions and are expecting to be flooded. It is coming in at

about one metre per hour. This morning there was some green but now

it is tracking closer to the house. Everyone panics. You cannot stop

water. Once it is flowing you cannot stop it. The pumps may be on but

some people here feel that this situation has been gnawed and the

authorities are bogus too much on the coastline. -- been ignored. The

Somerset levels might use to flooding but with more rain to come

they are still nervous here tonight. Jon Kay reporting. And he joins us

live now from Somerset. Stories today of people taking unnecessary

risks in this terrible wet weather? Yes we heard this evening about

lucky escapes, one in Aberystwyth where a man had to be rescued by

lifeboat after being seen out on the harbour jetty during a storm taking

photographs. The second in Cornwall, and swimming in the sea had to taken

to hospital by the police. The warning is coming again tonight to

take care especially around the coast. Tides have dropped a little

but they say it is still a threat. Some severe warnings still in place.

But on the coast and inland here in Somerset are looking at the latest

weather forecast and it is not looking good. More rain coming in

tonight. That Nick storm we have seen on the east coast of America is

going to fall here as heavy rain tomorrow. So expect more warnings

from the environment agency and more disruption in the days ahead.

The family of a British man found shot dead in Libya have said they

are devastated by the news of his murder. Mark De Salis had been

working for a power company in the capital Tripoli for the past six

years. The bodies of Mr De Salis and a woman friend from New Zealand were

discovered near the town of Zuwarah, 60 miles west of Tripoli. Nick

Childs reports. It was on this beach in western

Libya it seems with the bodies of Mark De Salis and New Zealand woman

friend were discovered. According to his family he had been working for

six years for an engineering company in Tripoli. His family said they

were shocked and devastated by his death. The statement said he was a

decent and loyal man and loved by many. He will be sadly missed. It is

still far from clear why the two were in the area although it seems

they were attacked whilst having a picnic. And why they were killed.

Initial reports said their luggage was untouched. There is a major oil

and gas complex just up the coast but also a world renowned heritage

site nearby. The foreign office has said it is liaising closely with the

Libyan authorities of what it is describing as a tragic incident. It

rock bottom. This was no time for your first test innings. Gary

Finally, friends and colleagues of Phil Everly - one half of The Everly

Brothers - have paid tribute to the singer, who has died in California.

He was 74. With his brother Don he rose to fame in the 1950s with hits

like Wake Up Little Susie and Bye Bye Love. Together they influenced a

generation of pop musicians, including The Beatles. David Sillito

looks back at his life, and his music.

Phil on the left was just six when he first performed with his brother.

Harmony was the family business. What are you going to sing this time

with Mike it is called Don't Let Love Die. There is nothing sweeter

than families singing together. I don't think that two people who

aren't related can sound the same. Their roots lay in the country music

of their native Kentucky. Their sound was clean cut, sweet, sad

innocence. But the Harmony came to an end in

1973, midway through a concert. Don was drunk Phil smashed his guitar.

Solo careers beckon. Ten years later they reunited, the tensions
