Good evening. Storms and high tides have left hundreds of homes flooded | :00:23. | :00:28.
across the UK, from Cornwall to West Wales and Scotland. And there are | :00:29. | :00:31.
warnings of more flooding in the coming days. The Environment Agency | :00:32. | :00:34.
is advising people to avoid coastal paths and promenades. The search is | :00:35. | :00:38.
continuing for a teenager who disappeared after going to take | :00:39. | :00:41.
photos of the storm, as Jon Kay reports. | :00:42. | :00:49.
For two days in terrible conditions, life boat crews have been set Ching. | :00:50. | :00:55.
Looking for 18-year-old Harry Martin who went missing in a tidal surge. | :00:56. | :01:02.
The photography student was last seen taking the Jews of the storm on | :01:03. | :01:06.
a coastal path near Plymouth. -- pictures. We have been searching for | :01:07. | :01:13.
quite a while and hopefully we'll have some good news. Prayers go out | :01:14. | :01:21.
to his family. He is part of the community and this is when | :01:22. | :01:25.
communities come together. The coastal clear up is going to take | :01:26. | :01:30.
some time. This was Aberystwyth. Pounded again this morning. Tyrone | :01:31. | :01:35.
Davis cannot leave what it has done to his beach-front gym. There are | :01:36. | :01:39.
stones and seaweed amongst the running machines. It has ruined | :01:40. | :01:45.
everything. It is the second time it has happened in the last three | :01:46. | :01:51.
months. The power of the sea is so strong. This is not the sea but it | :01:52. | :01:57.
is starting to look like it. Miles inland the Somerset levels are | :01:58. | :02:02.
filling with water. This afternoon extra pumping equipment arrived. | :02:03. | :02:06.
Once this kit is in place it should take about a tonne of water from the | :02:07. | :02:12.
more every second and pump it into the river. But local people just | :02:13. | :02:18.
wish it had happened sooner. On their farm close by the Sadler | :02:19. | :02:23.
family feared that the pumps have got here too late. There are now | :02:24. | :02:27.
taking precautions and are expecting to be flooded. It is coming in at | :02:28. | :02:35.
about one metre per hour. This morning there was some green but now | :02:36. | :02:39.
it is tracking closer to the house. Everyone panics. You cannot stop | :02:40. | :02:45.
water. Once it is flowing you cannot stop it. The pumps may be on but | :02:46. | :02:51.
some people here feel that this situation has been gnawed and the | :02:52. | :02:54.
authorities are bogus too much on the coastline. -- been ignored. The | :02:55. | :02:59.
Somerset levels might use to flooding but with more rain to come | :03:00. | :03:05.
they are still nervous here tonight. Jon Kay reporting. And he joins us | :03:06. | :03:11.
live now from Somerset. Stories today of people taking unnecessary | :03:12. | :03:16.
risks in this terrible wet weather? Yes we heard this evening about | :03:17. | :03:22.
lucky escapes, one in Aberystwyth where a man had to be rescued by | :03:23. | :03:26.
lifeboat after being seen out on the harbour jetty during a storm taking | :03:27. | :03:31.
photographs. The second in Cornwall, and swimming in the sea had to taken | :03:32. | :03:36.
to hospital by the police. The warning is coming again tonight to | :03:37. | :03:39.
take care especially around the coast. Tides have dropped a little | :03:40. | :03:46.
but they say it is still a threat. Some severe warnings still in place. | :03:47. | :03:51.
But on the coast and inland here in Somerset are looking at the latest | :03:52. | :03:54.
weather forecast and it is not looking good. More rain coming in | :03:55. | :03:59.
tonight. That Nick storm we have seen on the east coast of America is | :04:00. | :04:04.
going to fall here as heavy rain tomorrow. So expect more warnings | :04:05. | :04:10.
from the environment agency and more disruption in the days ahead. | :04:11. | :04:15.
And you can follow the latest weather news at bbc.co.uk/news or | :04:16. | :04:18.

The family of a British man found shot dead in Libya have said they | :04:26. | :04:28.
are devastated by the news of his murder. Mark De Salis had been | :04:29. | :04:32.
working for a power company in the capital Tripoli for the past six | :04:33. | :04:35.
years. The bodies of Mr De Salis and a woman friend from New Zealand were | :04:36. | :04:39.
discovered near the town of Zuwarah, 60 miles west of Tripoli. Nick | :04:40. | :04:46.
Childs reports. It was on this beach in western | :04:47. | :04:50.
Libya it seems with the bodies of Mark De Salis and New Zealand woman | :04:51. | :04:53.
friend were discovered. According to his family he had been working for | :04:54. | :05:00.
six years for an engineering company in Tripoli. His family said they | :05:01. | :05:03.
were shocked and devastated by his death. The statement said he was a | :05:04. | :05:09.
decent and loyal man and loved by many. He will be sadly missed. It is | :05:10. | :05:15.
still far from clear why the two were in the area although it seems | :05:16. | :05:19.
they were attacked whilst having a picnic. And why they were killed. | :05:20. | :05:23.
Initial reports said their luggage was untouched. There is a major oil | :05:24. | :05:28.
and gas complex just up the coast but also a world renowned heritage | :05:29. | :05:33.
site nearby. The foreign office has said it is liaising closely with the | :05:34. | :05:37.
Libyan authorities of what it is describing as a tragic incident. It | :05:38. | :07:00.
rock bottom. This was no time for your first test innings. Gary | :07:01. | :07:06.
Ballance introduced to the joys of facing Mitchell Johnson. But it was | :07:07. | :07:12.
one again gone to the youngsters. Ben Stokes however merely delayed | :07:13. | :07:20.
the inevitable. It was a small mercy of the follow-on was at least | :07:21. | :07:23.
avoided thanks to some resistance. Boyd Rankin was bowled other | :07:24. | :07:28.
wrestlers Johnson and England were all out for 155. With Chris Rogers | :07:29. | :07:35.
extending the lead beyond 300, it all felt futile. The hosts already | :07:36. | :07:41.
seemed way too far ahead. This broken England team are now almost | :07:42. | :07:46.
certain to suffer at the shame of the shame of a series whitewash. | :07:47. | :07:49.
Before the draw they were the favourites. Rarely has a sport which | :07:50. | :07:54.
is such a reversal in fortunes. The only consolation is that it will | :07:55. | :07:58.
soon be over. Football, and in the FA Cup third | :07:59. | :08:01.
round, the shock of the day was Aston Villa being knocked out at | :08:02. | :08:04.
home by the League One side Sheffield United. And Championship | :08:05. | :08:06.
side Blackburn drew one-all with Premier League Manchester City at | :08:07. | :08:09.
Ewood Park. City went ahead in the first half through Alvaro Negredo | :08:10. | :08:12.
before Scott Dann equalised after 55 minutes to force a replay. | :08:13. | :08:26.
And Arsenal lead by 1-yl in their cup game against Tottenham. | :08:27. | :08:32.
Finally, friends and colleagues of Phil Everly - one half of The Everly | :08:33. | :08:36.
Brothers - have paid tribute to the singer, who has died in California. | :08:37. | :08:40.
He was 74. With his brother Don he rose to fame in the 1950s with hits | :08:41. | :08:43.
like Wake Up Little Susie and Bye Bye Love. Together they influenced a | :08:44. | :08:46.
generation of pop musicians, including The Beatles. David Sillito | :08:47. | :08:49.
looks back at his life, and his music. | :08:50. | :09:00.
Phil on the left was just six when he first performed with his brother. | :09:01. | :09:10.
Harmony was the family business. What are you going to sing this time | :09:11. | :09:20.
with Mike it is called Don't Let Love Die. There is nothing sweeter | :09:21. | :09:30.
than families singing together. I don't think that two people who | :09:31. | :09:35.
aren't related can sound the same. Their roots lay in the country music | :09:36. | :09:41.
of their native Kentucky. Their sound was clean cut, sweet, sad | :09:42. | :09:50.
innocence. But the Harmony came to an end in | :09:51. | :09:56.
1973, midway through a concert. Don was drunk Phil smashed his guitar. | :09:57. | :10:04.
Solo careers beckon. Ten years later they reunited, the tensions | :10:05. | :10:08.
outweighed by what they could only do together. 50 years of heartache, | :10:09. | :10:24.
happiness and harmony. Phil Everly, who has died at the age | :10:25. | :10:27.
