Good evening. The headlines: after decades of abuse, just as at last | :00:22. | :00:24.
for this family. The judge says their father | :00:24. | :00:30.
subjected them to violence, depravity and fear. One of the most | :00:30. | :00:33.
sadistic individuals I have met. When you think about what he did to | :00:33. | :00:38.
his family, there is it true, barbaric nature to him. Kenneth | :00:38. | :00:44.
Blair is also the father of a baby whose death 40 years ago is being | :00:44. | :00:49.
investigated by police in Dundee. A warning to football fans ahead of | :00:49. | :00:53.
the Old Firm game. Police say they will clamp down hard on domestic | :00:53. | :00:57.
violence. Halle Berry is made up to be in | :00:57. | :01:02.
Glasgow. She is in the city to shoot her new film. | :01:02. | :01:12.
He he he he and music to be murdered by. The scary soundtrack | :01:12. | :01:19.
which will bring back memories of that shower scene. | :01:19. | :01:24.
The father of a baby whose death 40 years ago is being investigated has | :01:24. | :01:29.
admitted a catalogue of violent abuse against his family. Kenneth | :01:29. | :01:32.
Blair from Fife was jailed for 15 years at the High Court in | :01:32. | :01:42.
:01:42. | :01:44. | ||
Edinburgh after admitting a series of charges dating back decades. | :01:44. | :01:52.
This is the man -- he subjected them to years of abuse. He started | :01:52. | :01:57.
the first week of their marriage. He hid his face in shame as he was | :01:57. | :02:02.
taken away. He asked his solicitor to apologise to his family. For | :02:02. | :02:07.
over 10 years, the family lived in Cooper. During this time, Kenneth | :02:07. | :02:13.
Blair worked as a fire fighters. He assaulted his wife, pulled her hair | :02:13. | :02:18.
and pressure downstairs. The court heard details of the violent | :02:18. | :02:22.
attacks to which he subjected his family. From the ages of four and | :02:22. | :02:26.
five he would beat up his children, beating them so hard they would be | :02:26. | :02:31.
six. He would stop them using the toilet and force them to take baths | :02:31. | :02:35.
in exceptionally hot water. Those involved in the case described his | :02:35. | :02:40.
behaviour as barbaric. He is clearly an evil man. And hopefully | :02:40. | :02:45.
he will realise that although he went to England, as he hoped this | :02:45. | :02:47.
information would never come to light, he will now truly regret | :02:47. | :02:52.
what he put them through. investigation led police to pass | :02:52. | :02:55.
information to Tayside Police. They have now reopened an inquiry into | :02:55. | :03:03.
the death of his baby son, who died in November 1968. For a brief | :03:03. | :03:07.
period in the early 1980s, Kenneth Blair had his children taken off | :03:07. | :03:10.
Thames. They describe that as the only happy period of their | :03:10. | :03:15.
childhood. The trauma has left lasting emotional scars. As well as | :03:15. | :03:20.
the domestic abuse, here -- he admitted raping a young girl years | :03:20. | :03:26.
ago. There is a warning that people who | :03:26. | :03:29.
commit domestic violence connected to this weekend's Old Firm game | :03:29. | :03:35.
will be dealt with robustly by the courts. It comes from Strathclyde | :03:35. | :03:40.
Police and the Crown Office. Recent figures showed a sharp rise in | :03:40. | :03:45.
domestic abuse around this fixture. Reevell Alderson has the details. | :03:45. | :03:49.
Are domestic violence and big football matches linked? That seems | :03:49. | :03:53.
to be the inference from analysis carried out by Strathclyde Police. | :03:53. | :03:58.
They gathered figures when Rangers and Celtic met twice in one month, | :03:58. | :04:02.
last February. After that first game, domestic abuse cases rose by | :04:02. | :04:09.
33 % over the normal figure. Two weeks later, cases were up 75 %. To | :04:09. | :04:14.
be fair, it is not always like this. After the April game, there was no | :04:14. | :04:18.
significant rise. But police and prosecutors have combined to issue | :04:18. | :04:23.
a new warning, that this weekend's match at Ibrox will be no excuse | :04:23. | :04:28.
for domestic violence. Police have targeted for hundreds | :04:28. | :04:32.
known offenders in advance of Sunday's game. In many cases, they | :04:32. | :04:36.
had been arrested for other matters, getting them out of the way while | :04:36. | :04:41.
the match is on. We look to see what is outstanding from them in | :04:41. | :04:45.
terms of criminality. And what we try to do is make sure that we | :04:45. | :04:50.
effect arrests up to the Friday before that to have a bit of | :04:50. | :04:56.
control over the individuals, so they are in custody. I would | :04:56. | :05:00.
encourage any victim of domestic abuse to come forward. Police had | :05:00. | :05:03.
been joined by prosecutors and organisations to deal with victims | :05:03. | :05:08.
of domestic abuse in a task force to tackle the problem. They say it | :05:08. | :05:11.
is unacceptable that football is used as an excuse for violence. | :05:11. | :05:15.
That all is said to be the beautiful game. There is nothing | :05:15. | :05:19.
beatable about domestic abuse. It is all it, ugly and her full. And | :05:19. | :05:24.
no one should have to put up with that. There will be more than | :05:24. | :05:29.
50,000 fans in Ibrox. Many more will watch the game on television. | :05:29. | :05:32.
And prosecutors say drink is not an excuse for domestic violence, | :05:32. | :05:37.
either. It is difficult to say that drink is the precise cause. I am | :05:37. | :05:42.
sure in many instances it has been involved. But what I say is that | :05:42. | :05:46.
alcohol is no excuse for criminal behaviour. It is not a mitigating | :05:46. | :05:52.
factor. It is an aggravating factor. And we take any instances of | :05:52. | :05:56.
domestic abuse very seriously. Patterns will run high on the pitch | :05:56. | :06:00.
and in the stadium. It is hoped they will not spill over into | :06:00. | :06:06.
domestic violence. This is part of a wider campaign. | :06:06. | :06:10.
Prosecutors in last who has set up a dedicated domestic abuse unit | :06:10. | :06:14.
working with police. In two years it has dealt with more than 9,000 | :06:14. | :06:20.
cases, 75 % have resulted in court action. | :06:20. | :06:27.
Coming up... Inviting disaster. The warning against the UK Government's | :06:27. | :06:31.
plan to withdraw Coastguard tugs from her post. | :06:31. | :06:36.
And crumbling crofts. Fears the traditional farmsteads are being | :06:36. | :06:40.
left to rack and ruin. In sport, we are talking two Old | :06:40. | :06:44.
Firm rivalries. In the north, tensions are arriving for the | :06:44. | :06:49.
Cammanachd Cup final as Kingussie crash -- clash with the to more. | :06:49. | :06:52.
Further south, it is the first Old Firm game of the season and this | :06:52. | :06:56.
time it is not personal. Ally McCoist says he has no desire to | :06:57. | :07:06.
:07:07. | :07:08. | ||
The Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry was out on the streets of | :07:08. | :07:11.
Glasgow this morning filming her part in the new Holyrood film, | :07:11. | :07:15.
'Cloud Atlas'. It is the latest in a string of American movies to | :07:15. | :07:20.
locate some of the filming here. Experts say it is down to the weak | :07:20. | :07:28.
pound and the "can-do" attitude of local organisations. | :07:28. | :07:33.
Another day, and more Holyrood action on the streets of Glasgow. | :07:33. | :07:40.
This time, the big noise is Oscar winner Halle Berry. Today, Glasgow | :07:40. | :07:45.
is doubling as San Francisco in the film version of the book, 'Cloud | :07:45. | :07:49.
Atlas'. Halle Berry is on said already, and as you can see, once | :07:49. | :07:52.
again, they have brought the American cars and the street | :07:52. | :07:58.
furniture. It follows hot on the heels of Brad Pitt's zombie movie. | :07:58. | :08:04.
It brought 1,200 cast and crew and an estimated 2 million to Glasgow. | :08:04. | :08:08.
And other film makers are keen to follow. It is fantastic in this | :08:08. | :08:14.
industry, because location managers will tell other location managers | :08:14. | :08:17.
about where they filmed and how it works in those cities. And that is | :08:17. | :08:22.
a great fantastic marketing opportunity. So it is not just | :08:22. | :08:30.
Halle Berry and Brad Pitt. Scarlett Johansson will beat making a film | :08:30. | :08:35.
in the river Clyde. And early next year, Edinburgh will be the setting | :08:35. | :08:40.
for another film. Experts say it is down to money. It is because it | :08:40. | :08:44.
hound is really week. So we will be doing all right, we will be cheaper | :08:44. | :08:48.
than anywhere else while the pound remains at such a low rate. So | :08:48. | :08:51.
despite the fact there is a recession here, selling actually | :08:51. | :08:56.
does all right. Five and it is better than all right. This | :08:56. | :08:59.
production facility is now turning away to war three productions a | :08:59. | :09:06.
week because of the huge demand for studio space. It took us years to | :09:06. | :09:12.
Pole all the funding together and refurbish the building. And it is | :09:12. | :09:15.
65,000 square feet. And so we were worried initially that we would be | :09:15. | :09:20.
rattling around. However, it is jam-packed every day. And we have | :09:20. | :09:24.
to turn away productions on a regular basis. It is a phenomenal | :09:24. | :09:29.
success. Meanwhile, Glasgow's streets are the place to find a | :09:29. | :09:35.
little bit of America - at least this weekend. | :09:35. | :09:39.
Around 100 students had begun occupying a lecture theatre at | :09:39. | :09:42.
Edinburgh University. They are protesting against the decision to | :09:42. | :09:47.
fix fees at the most expensive rate. Edinburgh is one of two | :09:47. | :09:50.
institutions set to charge applicants from England, Wales and | :09:50. | :09:56.
Northern island fees of 36,000 for a four year caused. A crowd outside | :09:56. | :10:00.
has been refused access. The University says freedom of speech | :10:00. | :10:06.
is important, but must be handled in a safe unlawful way. | :10:06. | :10:10.
55 people are set to lose their jobs as a small-scale wind tired -- | :10:10. | :10:15.
wind turbine manufacturer goes into administration. Directors of Proven | :10:15. | :10:18.
Energy called in the receivers after a fault was found and the | :10:18. | :10:24.
firm did not have the finance to continue trading. The company | :10:24. | :10:29.
manufactures in Ayrshire, and has a design office in East Kilbride. | :10:29. | :10:33.
The UK Government is inviting disaster with its plan to withdraw | :10:33. | :10:38.
funding for Scotland's coastguard tugs in two weeks time. That is the | :10:38. | :10:42.
view of a group of MPs. They say taking the matter of service would | :10:42. | :10:46.
be short-sighted. They were introduced after the Braer disaster | :10:46. | :10:52.
in 1993 to help vessels in distress around Britain's coast. | :10:52. | :11:02.
:11:02. | :11:04. | ||
A vital mission for an emergency tug. But UK ministers say they at | :11:04. | :11:07.
tugs cost too much, and they are due to stop the funding at the end | :11:07. | :11:11.
of the month. Are I am very concerned that the government still | :11:11. | :11:16.
wants to withdraw funding from the emergency tugs. They are there to | :11:16. | :11:20.
stop incidents of pollution, and they are also to save lives. There | :11:20. | :11:24.
is no evidence that withdrawing them would result... The government | :11:24. | :11:30.
should think again. It was after this disaster off Shetland that two | :11:30. | :11:36.
coastguards tugs were introduced. Thousands of tons of oil link from | :11:36. | :11:40.
the Braer, and there are concerns a similar environmental disaster can | :11:40. | :11:47.
strike. They cost 2 million per year each to run. But that is a | :11:47. | :11:50.
drop in the ocean compared to the cost of a massive oil spill. | :11:50. | :11:55.
Ministers insist that shipping safety is a matter for the industry, | :11:55. | :12:00.
not the tax payer. Tugs are expected to pick up the slack | :12:00. | :12:03.
around the Northern Isles. There is not that capacity of the west coast, | :12:03. | :12:09.
though. There is an insurance policy to protect the environment. | :12:09. | :12:13.
You cannot do that part-time, it has to be there all the time. But | :12:13. | :12:18.
we should not forget the tugs carry out a lot of other duties as well. | :12:18. | :12:23.
They are used all that time, at all times of year. Campaigners say the | :12:23. | :12:27.
decision is unwise, and they hope for a last-minute change of heart. | :12:27. | :12:35.
But was just two weeks to go, time is running out. | :12:35. | :12:38.
The Chief Secretary to the Treasury says he is very surprised at claims | :12:38. | :12:43.
by the First Minister that he sent him a threatening letter over | :12:43. | :12:46.
public sector pensions. Dannii Alexander says the Scottish | :12:46. | :12:50.
Government will have to fund the scheme if it does not increase | :12:50. | :12:54.
workers' contributions. Illegal drugs may have caused the | :12:54. | :12:58.
death of One man and left a second man seriously ill in hospital. | :12:58. | :13:03.
Emergency services were called to a house in Inverness yesterday | :13:03. | :13:06.
evening. Northern Constabulary say the investigation is continuing, | :13:06. | :13:10.
and a possible line of inquiry is that Scott Macintosh's death was | :13:10. | :13:16.
drugs-related. 95 % of Scotland's beaches were not | :13:16. | :13:20.
to basic European standard this summer. Almost have all the beaches | :13:21. | :13:26.
met the more stringent standard, but four areas field, Irvine, | :13:26. | :13:30.
Lossiemouth and Eyemouth. Higher rainfall usually caused as | :13:30. | :13:39.
agricultural waste and sewage to There is a warning that a unique | :13:40. | :13:44.
example a Highland way of life is in danger of being lost. The | :13:44. | :13:48.
traditional croft house in Caithness has come onto the market. | :13:48. | :13:50.
Although the buildings are largely dilapidated, they could still be | :13:50. | :13:54.
preserved. The fear is that any buyers would be more interested in | :13:54. | :13:58.
developing the land surrounding the buildings, leaving the croft to | :13:58. | :14:03.
crumble. As period features go, this | :14:03. | :14:08.
property has plenty, including a thatched roof, cart shed and on | :14:08. | :14:14.
external wash house. Just off the A nine in Caithness, its panoramic | :14:14. | :14:21.
location is breathtaking. Even the Close Line has a view. But working | :14:21. | :14:25.
condition, it is not. And there are fears that this historic settlement | :14:25. | :14:30.
could disappear if a buyer cannot be found. It's the last thatched | :14:30. | :14:38.
roof house in Caithness. It's a shame to see it go. It is thought | :14:38. | :14:44.
to be the only Long House of its kind left in Scotland. Built in the | :14:44. | :14:47.
early 1800s, it was worked in the traditional way by Tim elderly | :14:47. | :14:52.
sisters until relatively recently. It's sad to see some why go so | :14:53. | :14:57.
quickly. In a thatched house, the minute that the thatch descends | :14:57. | :15:01.
from the chimney stacks, water gets in. Very quickly you have a damp | :15:01. | :15:05.
house. Listed because of its historical importance, the house | :15:05. | :15:10.
and its hardy inhabitants hold many memories for locals. It wouldn't be | :15:10. | :15:20.
:15:20. | :15:20. | ||
an easy life. A meagre living, from the humble soil. You used to have a | :15:20. | :15:30.
mobile party appear, all of the teenage folk. It clear that some | :15:30. | :15:34.
sort of life could be brought back to this settlement so it can be | :15:34. | :15:37.
preserved for future generations. But with the surrounding land | :15:37. | :15:40.
likely to be sold separately for development, the complex has | :15:40. | :15:46.
already been put on Scotland's Buildings at Risk Register and the | :15:46. | :15:50.
race is on to save it as some kind of heritage centre. It is very | :15:50. | :15:54.
historic and very important. It would be an awful shame to lose it. | :15:54. | :16:00.
It's on the market for just under 200,000. A slice of Highland | :16:00. | :16:10.
:16:10. | :16:11. | ||
Now, let's get the sport. Rangers' manager Ally McCoist says | :16:11. | :16:15.
that Sunday's Old Firm game, the first of the season, is not about | :16:15. | :16:20.
getting one up in -- on Neil Lennon. But he is clear it is a must-win | :16:20. | :16:24.
game for Rangers. He says focus should be on the players. Celtic | :16:24. | :16:29.
must regroup and refocus after last night's 2-0 defeat against Atletico | :16:29. | :16:33.
Madrid. Back home this afternoon after a | :16:33. | :16:36.
difficult travels in Europe. Now Neil Lennon and his men have less | :16:36. | :16:39.
than 48 hours to get themselves back to peak mental and physical | :16:39. | :16:45.
condition. It's the opening old firm of the season. They are always | :16:45. | :16:50.
quite tense. They are always physical. They played at a frenetic | :16:50. | :16:57.
place. I'm sure it will be no different, going into the game. In | :16:57. | :17:00.
terms of our own approach, will try to be as positive as we can, try | :17:00. | :17:05.
and go there and get a positive result. There is no denying that | :17:05. | :17:08.
there can be fireworks At Any Old Firm game. Tensions are famously | :17:08. | :17:12.
run high between the current managers of Rangers and Celtic. But | :17:12. | :17:15.
the Ibrox boss says that winning on Sunday is not about getting one | :17:15. | :17:21.
over on Neil Lennon. No, absolutely not at all. I can guarantee that is | :17:21. | :17:29.
not the answer you wanted to hear. But it is about the two teams. | :17:29. | :17:33.
Emotions are high in every Old Firm game. But the players on the part | :17:33. | :17:36.
of by far and away the most important people. Hopefully it is | :17:36. | :17:40.
the Rangers players that will win us the game. Celtic will be | :17:40. | :17:43.
determined to keep a tighter defence on Sunday. Last night, | :17:44. | :17:49.
Atletico Madrid broke their ranks just three minutes into the game. | :17:49. | :17:55.
Their defence was in tatters again in the 67th minute. This cutback | :17:55. | :18:01.
was driven home by Diego from 12 yards. So, are Celtic at a | :18:01. | :18:04.
disadvantage with such a short turnaround before Sunday's vital | :18:04. | :18:09.
game? The Rangers manager says definitely not. They had a tough | :18:09. | :18:14.
game in Madrid. You can say one thing and the next, but the one | :18:14. | :18:17.
guarantee is that Celtic will be able to play us on Sunday, as we | :18:17. | :18:21.
will them. One of the biggest crowds over the weekend will be at | :18:21. | :18:25.
Ayr racecourse, for the running of the William Hill gold and silver | :18:25. | :18:28.
cup. Conditions for the running of the Bronze Cup this afternoon were | :18:28. | :18:33.
far from ideal. There was a dramatic finish between the Richard | :18:33. | :18:39.
Fahey pair of Coolminx and Jeannie Galloway. Coolminx came out Gus | :18:39. | :18:43.
Kohntopp. Tomorrow sees Scotland's other old | :18:43. | :18:46.
form so porting clash, with Tim historic adversary is coming head- | :18:46. | :18:53.
to-head. The Camanachd Cup final at Bught Park brings together | :18:53. | :18:57.
Kingussie and Newtonmore. The local rivalry is intense and so is the | :18:57. | :19:06.
anticipation. This year, the Cup final looks | :19:06. | :19:10.
certain to be electrifying. The 14 years since these age-old rivals | :19:10. | :19:15.
last faced each other in shinty's Showcase Cup competition has seen | :19:15. | :19:20.
Kingussie's dominance waned, while Newtonmore is on the rise. But its | :19:20. | :19:24.
25 long years since the blue-and- whites last held the trophy aloft. | :19:24. | :19:28.
As the shop windows Show, the weight of expectation in Newtonmore | :19:28. | :19:33.
is massive. Older folk had asked me for years, when his our Cup | :19:33. | :19:37.
returning to the village. I told them, next year. I kept saying next | :19:37. | :19:42.
year. Obviously next year has not come. Hopefully tomorrow, things | :19:43. | :19:50.
will change. To be in the final means everything to us. It means | :19:50. | :19:53.
absolutely everything. The whole place is buzzing. We are so nervous. | :19:53. | :19:59.
We don't know what is going to happen. It such a family thing, we | :19:59. | :20:03.
have the kids, young people, old people, everybody want Newtonmore | :20:03. | :20:07.
to win the Scottish Cup. But along the road there is just as much | :20:07. | :20:10.
local support by a team that just a few years ago were unassailable, | :20:10. | :20:16.
but recently had to rebuild whip young blood. Shinty's own Ronaldo, | :20:16. | :20:20.
Ronald Ross, the Sport's all-time top scorer, is still as dangerous | :20:20. | :20:24.
as ever in front of goal. rivalry is intense. Maybe not as | :20:24. | :20:29.
much as it was in the past. But it is still there and it is evident | :20:29. | :20:38.
for everybody to say. The one thing I will say, which everybody will | :20:38. | :20:43.
join in, the Cup is coming home to where it should be tomorrow night. | :20:43. | :20:47.
These are the ruins of the barracks built by the Redcoats to keep | :20:47. | :20:53.
rebellious Highlanders at bay. From this vantage point you can see Kim | :20:53. | :20:56.
gussied down there and, couple of miles further up the road, the | :20:56. | :21:00.
village of Newtonmore. When the Jacobites were fleeing, they burnt | :21:00. | :21:05.
this garrison. Tomorrow, a different battle to get there will | :21:05. | :21:09.
be joined. This trophy is the prize. -- a different battle altogether | :21:09. | :21:19.
:21:19. | :21:24. | ||
That is it from me for tonight. Well, it was the music that made | :21:24. | :21:28.
people think twice about getting into the shower. The screeching | :21:28. | :21:33.
violin note, completed -- repeated over and over in Hitchcock's | :21:33. | :21:36.
masterpiece Psycho. Norman Bates carried out one of the best-known | :21:36. | :21:40.
murders in Hollywood history. Now the Scottish Symphony Orchestra is | :21:40. | :21:46.
performing the score, whilst showing the movie live. | :21:46. | :21:54.
The key to a good murder is in the preparation. The planning. And the | :21:54. | :22:04.
:22:04. | :22:14. | ||
The suspense is tangible. I can feel it. The back of my head. It | :22:14. | :22:18.
wouldn't be a thriller without the music. The suspense factor would | :22:18. | :22:25.
barely be there. I think it is one of the instances of a score really | :22:25. | :22:31.
heightening the tension of the drama tenfold. Alfred Hitchcock | :22:31. | :22:35.
wasn't keen on music for the shower scene. He even laughed at composer | :22:35. | :22:40.
Bernard Herrmann when he suggested strings. This score is proof that | :22:40. | :22:47.
it pays to be persistent. For an audience to experienced the music | :22:47. | :22:52.
in a physical world is going to beat... I want to watch it, but I | :22:52. | :22:56.
can't. I have to play it. I'm desperate to watch it, it will be | :22:56. | :23:06.
:23:06. | :23:07. | ||
amazing. There will also perform other thriller scores, including | :23:07. | :23:14.
Taxi Driver and that saxophone. saw it when I was very young and it | :23:14. | :23:17.
has stayed with me all three years. It's just a joy to be able to play | :23:17. | :23:23.
the music. Thrills... Suspends... And just the kind of orchestral | :23:23. | :23:33.
:23:33. | :23:36. | ||
A reminder that our money man Fergus Muirhead is back with us on | :23:36. | :23:39.
Wednesday. He'll be looking at income protection and critical | :23:39. | :23:43.
illness cover, what options are available and which are best for | :23:43. | :23:53.

Now let's take a look at the weather. Christopher tells me, | :23:54. | :23:58.
depressingly, that he is too young to have watched the film Psycho. | :23:58. | :24:04.
That is depressing! Any horrors in the weather? | :24:04. | :24:10.
It doesn't look great. All smiles because it is the weekend, but I | :24:10. | :24:16.
can't promise much sunshine. It was very different today to yesterday, | :24:16. | :24:20.
a fairly damp affair. As we going to this evening, staying cloudy and | :24:20. | :24:23.
wet in many places across the country. Taking a look at the map | :24:23. | :24:26.
from 7 o'clock, we can see some clearance in the south and west. | :24:26. | :24:30.
The rain is going to move northwards towards Aberdeenshire | :24:30. | :24:34.
and Shetland. Heavy showers are working their way into the south- | :24:34. | :24:38.
west across parts of Ayrshire, Strathclyde and Argyll. Overnight | :24:38. | :24:42.
temperatures are not too bad, 10 or 11 for most of us. Into tomorrow, | :24:42. | :24:46.
for Saturday the area of low pressure works its way in and sits | :24:46. | :24:49.
overhead for much of the day. You can imagine the wind circling | :24:49. | :24:53.
around it. We'll have heavy showers across the south-west and some rain | :24:54. | :24:58.
continuing across northern coastal fringes. As we go to the day, | :24:58. | :25:01.
towards the mid-afternoon, certainly across the South the | :25:01. | :25:04.
showers will be heavy at times, with a chance of a rumble of | :25:04. | :25:08.
thunder or two. Further east, across the borders and the Lothians, | :25:08. | :25:13.
dry and a hint of brightness. Temperatures around 15 degrees or | :25:13. | :25:16.
so at best, with light wind. It means the showers will be quite | :25:16. | :25:20.
slow-moving. In the centre of the country, light and variable wind. | :25:20. | :25:25.
Still the risk of a shower. Further north, some rain across their | :25:25. | :25:30.
island region. Temperatures are 13 or 14 degrees. If you are walking, | :25:30. | :25:36.
the showers will be heavy at times. Reasonably light wind, from a | :25:36. | :25:41.
south-westerly direction. Further north, the showers will be lighter. | :25:41. | :25:46.
Wind is coming from an easterly direction, around 10 or 15 mph. | :25:46. | :25:51.
Across the south-west and the south-east, on the inshore waters, | :25:51. | :25:53.
forced three to force four. The direction will be west to south- | :25:53. | :26:03.
:26:03. | :26:04. | ||
west. The wind will be coming from an easterly direction in the West. | :26:04. | :26:08.
Many dry across many parts of the mainland, some rain continuing down | :26:08. | :26:11.
the western half. As we move towards Sunday, the area of low | :26:11. | :26:15.
pressure starts to shuffle towards the North Sea. Dry conditions | :26:15. | :26:20.
working in from the West. Showers continuing down the east coast. We | :26:20. | :26:25.
will also introduce a northerly flow of air. Across this half of | :26:25. | :26:33.
the country, quite cool and chilly. But in Glasgow 17 or 18 degrees. | :26:33. | :26:38.
Into Monday, another weather front pushing in bringing showery | :26:38. | :26:46.
conditions to the West. Dry air in The 4th and final miner trapped | :26:46. | :26:49.
underground and a flooded South Wales Callery has been found dead. | :26:49. | :26:53.
The men were working 300 feet below the surface of the Swansea Valley | :26:53. | :26:56.
on Thursday morning when it flooded. A man has been jailed after | :26:56. | :27:02.
admitting sustained, violent abuse he gazed his family. Will Sir 15 | :27:02. | :27:06.
