Good evening. The rate at which gas is leaking from Total's abandoned

Elgin platform is decreasing according to the oil company.

Meanwhile, a team of scientists has set off to assess the environmental

impact of the leak, which was detected 12 days ago. Kevin Keane

reports. The first pictures of a Mormon to

toddle's Elgin platform was evacuated. Several helicopters were

moved -- for removed around 200 workers. Today, the Environment

Secretary met a doddle for a progress report and was told they

are still working on a planet to plug the well head with heavy mud

and drill a relief well. Resources are being deployed to stop the gas

leak. We want to see that happen as soon as possible. But it has to be

done in a safe and practical way. But at least we now have a

timetable which is a weak -- one week to 10 days. This new image

shows that the gas coming through walls on either side of the pipe.

The company says that the writ of escape is finally decreasing.

Scientists on board this show will be monitoring their environmental

impact of the leak. The it was then the next three days collecting

samples of water, sediment and with the life. They then will be brought

back to shore for testing. Some of the initial work will take place on

board labs. Today, taught not released this video for the French

media showing yesterday's mission to send workers back onto the

platform to carry out survey work. They say access routes were clear

of gas and planned to make several return trips during the next few

days. An 8-year-old boy who was killed in

an accident on a farm in South Lanarkshire yesterday has been

named as Charles Kimm. It is thought he died after a 4x4 with a

trailer struck him while reversing through a gate in Symington.

Emergency services were called, but the boy died at the scene. An

inquiry is under way to establish the full circumstances surrounding

his death. The parents of an aid worker who

was killed in Afghanistan after being taken hostage have travelled

to the country for the first time since her death. Linda Norgrove was

killed during a failed mission to free her in October 2010. Her

parents visited projects funded through a foundation they set up in

her memory. Catriona Renton reports. Linda Norgrove and grew up on Isle

of Lewis. Her love of travel and adventure to go to Afghanistan. Her

parents have just returned from a country where their daughter died.

Mixed emotions. Visiting their, meeting up with her friends and

colleagues, people who themselves were quite emotional about what

happened to her. It was something that I am glad we did, but it was

difficult. Linda Norgrove was an aid worker. But in 2010, she was

taken hostage and was killed when a rescue attempt went wrong. She was

committed to working out there and trying to help people. I can

understand why. She would have been moved by the poverty and the

difficulties that people face on a daily basis. She was 36 years old

when she died. But her parents are determined to keep her memory alive

through the charitable foundation they have set up in her name.

first project we visited was the Afghan children's Circus, teaching

circus skills it to children and also drama. It was great to see

children enjoy themselves in a place where there is razor wire

everywhere outside. It can be quite miserable, Afghanistan. But Afghan

these are very much like us. They won the same kind of thing that we

do, security, peace and quiet to bring their families up in.

The Rangers manager Ally McCoist says he is not surprised the club

could owe its creditors up to �134 million. The Ibrox side could be

liable for up to �93 million to the tax man. Among hundreds of other

creditors is a raft of small businesses and, as Chris McLaughlin

reports, many of them are not expecting to get their money back.

This local newsagent is one of a number of companies owed cash by

Rangers, around �600. For the smaller creditors, the pain is very

real. The director of one company who did not want to be identified

is furious and told BBC Scotland, Rangers used to be good, who would

have thought it would come to this? I do not expect to get any money

back. Sadly, that is not unusual in a case of insolvency. If you are a

small, unsecured creditor, you will wait a long time to get anything

I'd might get nothing. It is very demoralising. How would you feel?

It is hoped Britain's oldest breeding osprey will lay a clutch

of eggs over the Easter weekend. The bird, known as Lady, returned

to the Loch of the Lowes reserve near Dunkeld last week. She has

nested there for 22 consecutive years. The birds normally produce

about 20 chicks in a lifetime, but Lady has produced 48 fledglings.
