Welcome to the programme. The headlines: As austerity by us, the

jobless rate is expected to rise in the UK. There are fears UK

unemployment could top one million. -- youth unemployment.

Dell was that the Thailand floods could lead to a shortage of

computer parts. Shares of Japan's beleaguered a

Olympus jump after confrontation -- confirmation it may not be knocked

off the Stock Exchange. Weekend there live now to Canberra,

where US President Barack Obama has just arrived. This is his first

trip to Australia since he became the US President. He was expecting

to come and visit on other occasions but he had to cancel for

various reasons. He is about to address the people there who are

watching the event. He will also talk to the Australian parliament.

As you can see, this is an important time for Australia. He

will lay to visit allah' in the knot of the country. -- he will

also visit Darwin in the north of the country. More US troops are

expected to be sent there to train in Australia. They are currently

playing the US national anthem. And he is there for only two days.

In a moment, he will enter Parliament House to address those

APEC summit in Honolulu. There, he did address various contentious

agenda and World Business Report. The number of people out of work in

Britain could pass a major milestone today. The latest figures

could show that one million young people between the ages of 16 and

24 are unemployed. Until now, the UK jobs market has not been as

badly affected as the other major economies but that could be about

to change. However difficult the current

generation of youngsters tried to better its skills, many cannot find

full-time work. When the job market contracts, employee his hand on --

hang on to their more experienced staff. Most of the time, it makes

you feel like you are not good enough. It makes you feel down.

Compared to other large economies, the UK unemployment rate does not

look that bad. It is currently just over 8%. That compares with 10% in

France and 9% in the US. But less than 6% of Germans are out of work

and the situation in Britain could get worse.

Unemployment will rise globally over the next few years but the UK

will be badly affected, partly because the growth prospects in the

UK are particularly negative. One other reason why young people

are finding it hard to get work is revealed in a survey out today. It

says that many jobseekers have the qualifications that they do not

have the personal skills to join the workforce.

The computer maker Dell reported a profit of $893 million but

disappointed Wall Street with its most recent sales less than

analysts expected. Part of the reason was economic uncertainty and

flooding in Thailand, which disrupted the flow of components.

Beyond the human devastation, the floodwaters in Thailand have

disrupted, S -- commerce. Dell says its earnings could be affected by

the funds in Thailand. The country turns out almost one quarter of the

company's supply parts. As we head into 2012, it remains to

be seen how prolonged these delays will be. Dell is also struggling

with a more basic problem. The personal computer market is

grappling with lower demand and increased competition from

smartphones and tablet computers. Revenue from PC sales dropped 6%

last year. Despite that, the company was able to squeeze more

from less and profits rose. bigger picture for Dell is they are

emphasising profitability. They are not being as aggressive on their

pricing. On the bright side, Dell is increasingly reliant on sales to

businesses rather than individuals and they are still spending.

Oliver's shares are up nearly 12% today. -- Olympus. This month,

executives admitted hiding offers from investors. We have been

watching this since the beginning of the story and for a few days,

shares and this company have been climbing. What is happening?

Shares are up on speculation that a Olympus might be delisted on the

Tokyo Stock Exchange. There was speculation that they might also

escape the brunt of any punishment. As you say, those shares have been

active since the accounting scandal broke last month. -- have been

affected. Yesterday, it went untreated. Nonetheless, the company

is still the subject of several investigations after it admitted

last week that it had he done investment losses for decades. --

probing the company as a result. The world's most valuable Telek --

technology company, Apple, has named Arthur Levinson as chairman.

It comes after the death of Steve Jobs one month ago.

Qantas shares rose to their highest level in three months after the

airline said it was hopeful it would reach an agreement with its

employees by the end of November. Thousands of passengers were left

stranded last month after it grounded all of its aircraft after

a labour dispute. Relations began to deteriorate in August after the

airline announced plans to move some of its services to Asia.

Customers will now have to pay taxes and charges on their Airmiles.

The loyalty scheme with 2 million members has been rebranded after 23
