Day 3 Bowls World Indoor Championships

Welcome to highlights from the world indoor ball is Championships. We

have action from the men's and women's singles. First up, if the

ladies singles semifinals featuring the defending champion, Rebecca

Field. Ladies and gentlemen, it is no folks very own Rebecca Field. --

Norfolk's. Great strike. She's got it. She knows she hasn't pushed it.

The defending champion is up against Scotland's Julie Forrest, while

Alison Merrien Place Katherine Rednall in the other semi-final. The

champ took the first set. Julie really needs to get that first

ball. Close to the jack. It's not bad, but

you just feel that she needs to be closer. The opening ball has been

good. That's why she has taken a first set lead. I think basically

Rebecca needs to work slightly on her second ball, it hasn't been

helping her a lot so far. Let's see if we can get the second ball

working, Rebecca. That's better, that's much better.

He so often find in singles that the second or third ball is a problem

for some players. It's like they concentrate 100% on the first. Yes,

Rebecca plays a very good first ball but the second and third are not

doing too much. Rebecca is sticking to her favourite

side. It's all a matter of where it stops. Not bad there. I don't think

she wanted it there. Once again, Julie doesn't have a real position

to play a weak shot. The clock is going to run down pretty quickly

now. Just a draw. She looks under here, I think. Rebecca, you are

going to break the pattern of singles and score a double.

That's why it. -- wide. One shot, Rebecca Field. That's 11 ends

played, 11 singles. Have we ever had a game with singles and every single

end? No. It hasn't happened. Are you sure? I'll just check. I got a new

tablet for Christmas. You always managed to ask the

difficult questions. a little bit but she isn't just not

getting there. She needs to shake it up a little. I agree, she needs the

normally go with the one that is got the bulge and that is the red one

would put a measure on it, I really would. Two different coloured balls,

Rebecca has actually laid on the backside. Julie is forcing on the

Two good opening balls. We haven't seen too much of that. She hasn't

played this site a lot. -- side. Julie needs another one in just

behind the jack for cover. Julie is going really deep. I'm assuming that

was deliberate. She was definitely trying to get back ball. It always

helps to have the deepest ball. Rebecca is playing a more positive

shot but I think she'll go under. That hasn't really helped. I think

she is now two down. I think Julie just need to put another close ball

in here. But the pressure on. She's got the back position. She is close

here. This is good. Excellent ball. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

You expect Rebecca to hit something here and take some of the balls out.

A big drive, call it what you wish. I think she is close. She is close.

She's getting something here. (APPLAUSE) that is the maximum. Here

That is a for Rebecca Field. I'm afraid Julie never really got going

and the defending champion is back in the final. But who will Rebecca

play? The other semi-final was between one of the established faces

on the balls to, Alison Merrien, up against a relative new, , Katherine

Rednall, and it was a schoolgirl who won the sat. -- set.

Alison has decided to forego the backhand. That's a good change of

tactic because Catherine was always going to play this side.

Very quick action for Katherine. She doesn't waste any time. A few

bowlers could learn from that. (APPLAUSE) You can see Julie Potter

just in the background there in her usual seat.

Well played. A little bit unlucky. Pushed a Radwanska with it. --

Reddit -- red one through. Goodness, she is quick. Just lacking that two

feet. It would have been a really good ball as it managed to slide in

there. That slightly favour is red. -- favourites.

Just a draw. It's all down to wait. This is a good spare shot

opportunity. Stretch for a way of little but if she gets a double. A

gap of three shots. You can virtually carry a shot forward. She

will be disappointed not to score here. Her parents wouldn't be happy

either, to see her not scoring another. A chance for a double here.

Looking good. Yes. Definitely secures the shot. It's good for two.

She is certainly putting her very experienced opponent under a lot of

pressure. A perfect delivery. Alison has to be really careful

here. Any movement on the jack is not going to be to her advantage.

That's why she's dropped the shot, frightened to go near the head. This

is just a draw here for Katherine. She is very close here. Well played.

It pushed the ball onto the jack to a red ball. A very confident shot

for such a young girl. Alison is looking at this on a forehand to try

and see if she can edge the green ball onto the jack. It's not easy

either way. A difficult shot. She is playing the backhand, it can only be

a draw. It certainly looks to be a narrow line, but if the weight

doesn't work out she will ever get it back. Obviously wasn't confident

in the forehand. It back -- back to Katherine Rednall.

She will effectively be forcing her opponent to score four shots in the

last hand. This is exactly what it wants. -- you want. She really needs

to get at least one shot here. I agree. If Katherine scores here she

is almost in the final. Well played. Just got the wrong angle.

It could be a Suffolk V Norfolk final. I'm sure the crowd would love

to see that. Good effort, just the wrong side.

Anything behind the jack to the green ball would be good. It has a

bit of what to do to come back. -- work. It is an awkward situation

here. She is going strong at it. Again she has pulled that one. Not

even able to take the red ball out. It was a long way away from her

standards. In many ways, there hasn't been the right set of balls.

Once again not sure where to put the last ball. It's not a bad ball.

Realistically, anything down there is good. She is going on for the

kill if she is going to get the double to take the match. A gutsy

option. Here it comes. Another way to get there. It's only the one. She

is forcing Alison to play a difficult shot here. I think she has

to be positive here. You have to take a gamble here, Alison. Choice

of shops probably correct. It should be a single. Going well. Can't relax

just yet. Katherine Rednall will just have to keep going. While

goes. There is no doubting the tactical knowledge of the 18

-year-old. A very mature match. If she is going to drive it, she is

going very straight. She can't afford to lose a ball. This one has

to be in the area. There is no chance. Not of getting a four out of

this. Mention you want, it doesn't matter, it won't happen. Katherine

Rednall could put this ball anywhere. There just isn't four

here. Let's go down to the two green ones. A great feeling to think that

your opponent is going to struggle to make four. She is just popping

eating in front. There she goes. That will block off that. Alison

Merren has nothing to play to get four. Well, Katherine Rednall,

congratulations. Very difficult for Alison Merren. Taking time and

rightly so. There is nothing there for her. I just can't see anything.

There is nothing there. There is no where the green ball is getting past

the red. The situation in this just draw the ball down. I think Alison

Merren realises that. She is playing through it, but she knows she won't

score a four. A smile from the 18 -year-old. A really professional

performance. Played a lovely game of balls. Mum and dad very happy

people. What a great day it was for

Katherine Rednall. A youngest ever line up for the final. 18 -year-old

Katherine Rednall against 28 year old Rebecca. Now we switch attention

to the men's singles competition. First up the defending champion

Stewart Anderson against Robert Weale.

Both players are just feeling full-length at the moment. It's

really important for Robert Weale to get at least one of the first two

close. It is a better ball. He's not happy being a away.

Standards are high. He has been allowed a little bit too much space.

Ten inches away. That's pretty good by the sounds of it. Still some

romantic yet another shot. Swapping onto the forehand side now.

FI was Robert Weale, I would pick a side and stick to it. It is very

difficult. There is a happy dog. It's actually a highly trained

working dog. He likes to relax. Two out. I always like to see a cuddly

labrador. Everyone is a sucker for it a fluffy dog. At the moment, I

think the dog is a bit too relaxed. Like Robert, he needs to add a bit

of weight to his game. Certainly making my addiction looks sick about

a tie-break. -- prediction. Need to get a rottweiler in. Very difficult

when he is just searching for the weight. Just give in it too much

room. He is making it count. Alarm bells

ringing for Robert Weale. He needs to start to compete. Once again, he

plays a decent ball, but it is a delivery too late. Unusual to see

players coming up. Just looking at the angle to see if he touches his

own ball were the jack will go. Please now have learned how to use

the shuttlecock to their own advantage. There was a time when

they won't allow it up after the second ball. Now they are prepared

to come up as long as they trot back in time.

With the forehand looks at key is going with weight. Here it goes. He

pushed it out wide. I don't think he is comfortable. Stewart Anderson

will take advantage of every opportunity. The couple ball going

always the risk of running ball. It is a horrible results.

Well done to Stewart Anderson. He is through to the quarter-finals with

the defeat of Robert Weale. As we have seen, he is through to

the quarter-finals. Who will he play? Will it he the former champion

Greg Harlow Barrett Darren Burnett. There we are. Maybe it is a better

shot for him. He would have to be lucky off that. He produced and up

immediately, but it will still heart. Funny old game. There's

nothing he could do that. You called that he would have to be lucky as

well. My goodness, he has given great a bit of a worry here. Only

one shot required. I just wonder if he will try draw this. He is really

only left with a door. He has put the door behind him. He can

definitely hit it. He is to get the jack to the other side. He prefers

forehand this type of shot a big effort. A big effort if he holds. He

has dropped away. How unlucky is that? A bit of fortune for Burnett.

Black fortune for Greg Harlow. If you are in Darren Burnett shoes, you

would think it might be night. Just might your night. Darren Burnett for

the third time delivered the jack. It was given by Darren Burnett on

two occasions. A fascinating game. Very much Darren Burnett in the

first set. Then it swung back to Greg Harlow in the second. Now we

are in a shootout for a place in the quarter-final. Still plenty of room.

Still one red. Available either side for great. -- Greg Harlow.

It is not there. Options here for Darren. Busy try and remove the red

sidewall? If he removes it... Oh, he is going for the drive. This is the

time when you can drive. If he kills it, he is in the area. That is good

enough. You are only allowed to kill it once. I'm surprised he played

that. It looked very draw a ball. -- drawable. Any time in the match you

are allowed to do it. He used to be in the past that you could do it all

the time. The respot position has changed that. It's in the time where

you can actually do it. He was just carrying the green one down. Kept it

in his hand. Greg Harlow taking the option of a

24 metre jack length. He feels confidence that he can get there.

Last end of the tie-break. Intriguing match. Last time we

played, he killed it. He is not allowed to kill any more. He has

used that option. It is always a bit of a gamble. Gtech the jack of given

away and get the last ball? It's a big opportunity now. I think it's

fair to say that he would have been a favourite coming into this match.

He is very dangerous opponent. Loads of experience.

He is going to drive for the jack as well. Looks like the ball. Oh, he

dipped in so quickly there. I thought he was just inside. He is in

a bit of trouble now. He can still nominate to burn the end. It doesn't

matter how meat and you nominate. You in the allowed to actually

completed once. Darren Burnett has already done that. The back decision

is all mixed up. He has the deepest green. He just has to try get inside

this red ball. Metre past it. Stop Greg Harlow ticking it out. A

thinking it is one in there. Doesn't want it to close. If he gets just

inside, it is a good war. I think it's going to drop in for a second.

It wouldn't be a bad option if he got onto the respawn. It's not easy

to beat. Time out. I haven't heard him nominate again for the drive. He

just has. Going again. To be honest, I think is best option is the kill.

He was very close last time. He has got the ball. Took his own way.

Darren Burnett takes the third end of the tie-break. The current

champion. A good win for Darren Burnett. Greg Harlow will be

disappointed. At the tie-break, anything is possible. He is now

through to the quarter-finals where the defending champion Stewart

Anderson awaits. Here's what we have up later...
