LineFromTo

might still be lying shot. The Germans overcooked that. They

:00:00.:00:00.

weren't needing to sweep it, they needed to leave it. But that is to

:00:00.:00:10.

Great Britain's advantage at the moment.

:00:11.:00:24.

Let's see if David Murdoch can find the sort of form he was showing

:00:25.:00:32.

yesterday. Just been evading him so far.

:00:33.:00:45.

David is just going to draw this to the opposite side of the house,

:00:46.:00:54.

needs to finish in the eight foot, anywhere in the white circles. They

:00:55.:00:58.

don't want to leave a double, you can hear the boys saying that, but

:00:59.:01:04.

if they keep the stones level... That is a nice shot from Dave. That

:01:05.:01:16.

is setting him up with the chance of a two and that would mean going in

:01:17.:01:20.

level. Schulze just having a look, trying to decide with his skip.

:01:21.:01:34.

Trying to hear each other from that distance, there is so much noise at

:01:35.:01:42.

the moment. The Russians have taken a couple of shots back from Norway.

:01:43.:01:47.

That is why they are a little animated at the moment.

:01:48.:01:57.

I guess there are several options here for Team Germany. They can hit

:01:58.:02:07.

that out and say, OK, take your two. A big call would be a freeze, to sit

:02:08.:02:11.

on the front and say, you are not going to get my shot out of here.

:02:12.:02:16.

You can sit the yellow right on top of it but it is dangerous, because

:02:17.:02:19.

if he doesn't do it right, Dave would have the potential of taking

:02:20.:02:24.

it out for a three. This is probably the more sensible call. He could

:02:25.:02:30.

have also gone for the red on the other side of the house, he can see

:02:31.:02:37.

all of it from his hack. This is potentially the easiest of the two.

:02:38.:02:43.

He has played the percentages well so far, as it were. Accepting,

:02:44.:02:48.

perhaps, the position they are in. So, just a straightforward draw in.

:02:49.:03:06.

That is a shot Dave Murdoch has been playing well, so we should feel

:03:07.:03:09.

confident that we can get a two out of this end now.

:03:10.:03:20.

So, a straightforward shot for David Murdoch, the British skip. Hopefully

:03:21.:03:27.

get the two and even things up at the halfway point. And that is

:03:28.:03:32.

probably a fair indication, perhaps Germany have been playing a little

:03:33.:03:36.

better but Britain have been keeping themselves there or thereabouts, a

:03:37.:03:40.

very close match so far. This looks like it is coming in nicely.

:03:41.:03:48.

So David Murdoch, doing what he does very well, drawing almost to the

:03:49.:03:55.

button, so that levels things up, 3-3, after five ends.

:03:56.:03:59.

HAZEL IRVINE: And we will be back for the remainder of that match very

:04:00.:04:03.

shortly, but while we do have a five-minute break, we will bring you

:04:04.:04:06.

up to date with events up the hill, as it were, because we have been

:04:07.:04:12.

following the fortunes of all of the women's ski slopestyle is this

:04:13.:04:17.

morning, it was a fantastic event. It was brilliant but also brutal and

:04:18.:04:23.

I know many of you will be watching the fortunes of Yuki Tsubota of

:04:24.:04:26.

Canada, who had a horrible crash. We have received some information from

:04:27.:04:33.

the Canadian freestyle president and initial assessments show an injury

:04:34.:04:38.

to her jaw, they had taken her in for further assessment. There is

:04:39.:04:40.

nothing further to say, she didn't have concussion, she is in a good

:04:41.:04:45.

frame of mind. She hit her knee on her jaw and it is pretty common,

:04:46.:04:50.

that sort of thing, it is a very tough school, that particular sport.

:04:51.:04:54.

We have also managed to catch up with the fortunes of Dara Howell,

:04:55.:04:57.

the Canadian gold medallist from that event this morning, and indeed,

:04:58.:05:02.

Katie Summerhayes, of Great Britain, who finished seventh, at the tender

:05:03.:05:06.

age of 18 in her first Olympic Games. Clare Balding has been at

:05:07.:05:10.

Extreme Park and has managed to chat to the two of them.

:05:11.:05:16.

Katie, your reaction? I am honestly gutted. I skied really well in

:05:17.:05:20.

qualification, I think, which made me feel really good and then didn't

:05:21.:05:25.

get a result. It happens, everyone falls. I made to massive mistakes.

:05:26.:05:31.

How difficult were conditions? It was getting noticeably warmer. I

:05:32.:05:39.

made a plan to stick with the small draw percent and stuck with it, I

:05:40.:05:44.

was the luckiest out of the girls hitting the small side and not

:05:45.:05:49.

having to go up things as big. You had quite a delay before your second

:05:50.:05:53.

run because there was a crash right before you. How did you cope with

:05:54.:05:58.

that? To be honest, we didn't know, we didn't know what was happening so

:05:59.:06:02.

we thought it was just normal which was pretty good, because I really

:06:03.:06:10.

good friends with Yuki, so it was better I didn't know. Overall, good

:06:11.:06:15.

experience or you regretful of a missed opportunity? A bit of both. I

:06:16.:06:20.

am so lucky to be at the Olympics at 18, I never thought I would get this

:06:21.:06:24.

chance and I can use it as experience going into the next one

:06:25.:06:28.

but I feel like I skied really well in qualification, so I am gutted but

:06:29.:06:32.

I think later tonight, I will be really happy. I was watching with

:06:33.:06:39.

your parents and your younger sister, Molly, who now wants to do

:06:40.:06:41.

this in four years' time, and they are so full of love for you and

:06:42.:06:45.

proud of the work you have put in. You have had a chance to see them,

:06:46.:06:50.

haven't you? Yes, it was the first time, so I am so happy they are here

:06:51.:06:54.

supporting me. I have only been on skis for three months since my

:06:55.:06:58.

injury and they really helped me get through that, so I am so happy to

:06:59.:07:01.

see them. It was so good to come down, knowing someone is cheering

:07:02.:07:07.

for you, it is family. Let's have a word with your coach, Schulze. What

:07:08.:07:14.

did you make of it all? It has been my favourite day at the Olympics.

:07:15.:07:18.

Obviously, Jenny winning a medal was amazing but this was my favourite

:07:19.:07:23.

day. Katie has done everybody proud. It is the first time slopestyle has

:07:24.:07:27.

been in the Olympics and what a show. I really hope everybody in the

:07:28.:07:32.

UK, who have been amazing with the support, have enjoyed this and she

:07:33.:07:37.

has done us massively proud. And it is a learning curve, Katie is only

:07:38.:07:43.

18. You have never seen a slopestyle final in the Olympic Games and you

:07:44.:07:46.

have to go away knowing more than you did before. Exactly, it is

:07:47.:07:52.

experience. Katie is only 18, she has two, maybe three Olympics in her

:07:53.:07:55.

and I can't wait to follow that journey and carry that through.

:07:56.:08:00.

2018, we are gunning for that, definitely. You might have both of

:08:01.:08:07.

the Summerhays girls. What is next, straight up to another competition?

:08:08.:08:12.

I think I go back home through a week and then there is an event in

:08:13.:08:17.

Austria called Nine Queens, which is so much fun, I did it last year and

:08:18.:08:22.

it was the best week of my life. It is a bunch of girls on jumps pushing

:08:23.:08:26.

the sport, so I am really looking forward to that. So people can carry

:08:27.:08:29.

on watching you in competition if they can find that. Yes, there are

:08:30.:08:34.

competitions at the end of the week but lots of photos before. Katie,

:08:35.:08:39.

many congratulations and Pat, lovely to meet you. So here is the first

:08:40.:08:51.

ever Olympic champion in slopestyle skiing for women. You nailed it in

:08:52.:08:55.

your first run. It was kind of really. I am really happy to land my

:08:56.:09:02.

first run. It really out today. It started slowing up at the end so I

:09:03.:09:07.

decided to play safe. I cannot believe my first run was the winning

:09:08.:09:12.

run. Canada are having a stonking Winter Olympics, you are flying!

:09:13.:09:18.

Canada is on fire. All the other countries are doing well but, go,

:09:19.:09:24.

Canada! Is the Scotland nose was not skiing injury? No, just an incident

:09:25.:09:30.

I had in my room. With a lampshade! With a lampshade. It did not affect

:09:31.:09:34.

anything you did today so have you had a chance to assess the reaction

:09:35.:09:38.

from back home? Not yet. I turned my phone off early today but I cannot

:09:39.:09:44.

wait to call home. I cannot wait to go and see my parents and just kind

:09:45.:09:49.

of enjoy with them. There are medals # this medal is for everybody, not

:09:50.:09:54.

just me. A great moment for you and a great moment for the sport. Yes,

:09:55.:10:01.

it is huge. Thank you. That is the fourth medal of the games for

:10:02.:10:05.

Canada. If you are trying to watch at work, we are getting a lot of

:10:06.:10:10.

tweets saying that you are. Do not tell the boss but we are very glad

:10:11.:10:14.

you are here. We are going straight back to the curling in the sixth

:10:15.:10:19.

end. We are getting a lot of chat as regard to the situation that both

:10:20.:10:23.

Germany and the Swedish women have been employing which is that their

:10:24.:10:28.

skip is not playing the part of the fourth player, in other words taking

:10:29.:10:33.

the pressure shots. Is this increasingly common in curling these

:10:34.:10:40.

days? I think Jackie would be best answering that. I think some of the

:10:41.:10:44.

older members of the team feel that they have old heads and why

:10:45.:10:49.

shoulders to make a decision on how they play the games but they want

:10:50.:10:53.

the younger guys to play it. That is potentially where it is coming from.

:10:54.:10:57.

They have the experience but they probably aren't playing the shots

:10:58.:11:00.

quite as well as the last player would do so they have chosen to play

:11:01.:11:06.

at all to play alternate places. -- AlterNet places.

:11:07.:11:18.

Germany have the hammer. That one is running through a bit long. Great

:11:19.:11:28.

Britain, if you were with us a few moments ago, tied things up in the

:11:29.:11:32.

fifth end and picked up two after having a couple of chances to do

:11:33.:11:36.

that in the previous ends but Germany on two occasions had stolen

:11:37.:11:44.

one. You can see there that Scott Andrews is playing very well on his

:11:45.:11:47.

drawers. Another one coming down now. Already two red stones at the

:11:48.:11:54.

top of the house, one acting as a guard right on the centre 's line.

:11:55.:12:00.

He will trying come in right behind those two. That is a good shot from

:12:01.:12:02.

Scott Andrews. That is pretty good. Just to bring you up-to-date with

:12:03.:12:21.

how this competition pans out. This is the third match for the great

:12:22.:12:26.

British men. They have won one and lost one. They lost to Sweden, one

:12:27.:12:31.

of the medal favourites. Out of these first three matches against

:12:32.:12:34.

Russia, Sweden and Germany, the Russian and German teams are

:12:35.:12:41.

certainly not highly ranked and the win against Russia was good and they

:12:42.:12:46.

probably thought this win against Germany might be one they could

:12:47.:12:50.

target but it is proving difficult. A tight match, a close match, and

:12:51.:12:56.

the German team, as they did against Canada yesterday, proving pretty

:12:57.:12:57.

tough. Scott Andrews here has just been

:12:58.:13:25.

asked to play a guard. Of course, Great Britain do not have the hammer

:13:26.:13:29.

in this end. They scored a two in the last end to equalise at 3-3 with

:13:30.:13:34.

Germany but then what they do is they give the hammer, or the hammer

:13:35.:13:39.

automatically rolls over to your opposition. We are lying two stones

:13:40.:13:48.

in the house, counting two. The Germans are counting third shot at

:13:49.:13:53.

the moment. Because we do not have the hammer we want to cover up the

:13:54.:13:59.

front of the house, four feet that we would talk about, that four foot

:14:00.:14:05.

space between the centre line with two feet either side to try and make

:14:06.:14:08.

it difficult for the Germans to score.

:14:09.:14:17.

We are just going to keep replacing the guard at the guard front here.

:14:18.:14:27.

-- keep replacing the guard at the front here. What will they have said

:14:28.:14:36.

at half-time? It is only two or three shots into this end but

:14:37.:14:39.

already I think the boys look more comfortable and it is amazing what

:14:40.:14:43.

that fifth end break can do. The coach will often say to you, the

:14:44.:14:46.

game looked pretty dodgy in the first half of that five ends but I

:14:47.:14:52.

have to give Great Britain their due, they were trying to create ends

:14:53.:14:57.

for them to score big. Unfortunately the Germans were answering every

:14:58.:15:00.

question that they were asked and I'm sure they coach said to them

:15:01.:15:03.

they should hold strong because at some point they would pull off a

:15:04.:15:10.

couple of scores of two in the game. They are performing well enough.

:15:11.:15:16.

They will have had a quick drink and some re-fuelling and they will be

:15:17.:15:18.

ready for the second half of this game. The game, of course, roughly

:15:19.:15:31.

takes about two and a half hours to play. 73 minutes each team has to

:15:32.:15:37.

perform. They also get an extra minute for one technical time-out

:15:38.:15:42.

with their coach. It is a long time for them to concentrate and they

:15:43.:15:46.

need to refuel which they generally do at the fifth end break. The

:15:47.:15:58.

German skip is playing third. A nice shot from him, very good.

:15:59.:16:08.

He played a nice out-turn to draw there, sitting right on the one

:16:09.:16:17.

foot, that means the white centre circle where the Olympic rings. Greg

:16:18.:16:25.

Drummond is trying to respond. He will be happy with the way he has

:16:26.:16:28.

been playing, not just in this match but yesterday both games were really

:16:29.:16:32.

strong performances from him. They are working hard on this. Yes, they

:16:33.:16:37.

heard the boys calling top eight and I do not think it is even going to

:16:38.:16:42.

make top eight. It is a little one. Unlucky.

:16:43.:16:49.

Greg Drummond has been playing very well through the first three rounds

:16:50.:16:59.

of this competition. As we know it can turn so quickly in this fickle

:17:00.:17:08.

game called curling. It really is a game of patience, holding your

:17:09.:17:17.

nerves. You can play nine ends of curling and it can be down to the

:17:18.:17:21.

last end and the last owner will win you the game so it is a game of

:17:22.:17:24.

patience and a lot of good shotmaking as well. Just a little

:17:25.:17:33.

tap there. He was trying to freeze right up against is owned stone. --

:17:34.:17:41.

against his own stone. This is about really small margins and you have to

:17:42.:17:52.

also be able to maintain that sort of concentration effort throughout

:17:53.:17:55.

the whole match and nine games in the round robin and hopefully on

:17:56.:17:57.

into the medal matches. Not sure what the boys are thinking

:17:58.:18:16.

about here but they are looking at hitting this front one here, pushing

:18:17.:18:23.

it down to try and take the yellows. David Murdoch is going to drive that

:18:24.:18:49.

front red stone hopefully onto the face of the yellow to lift the two

:18:50.:18:55.

of them out of the house. Unfortunately his take-out

:18:56.:18:59.

percentage at the moment is only 25% so he could do with a good one here.

:19:00.:19:10.

A great effort by he only just got one there. That has kind of been the

:19:11.:19:13.

story of his match so far. Almost but not quite. You can tell by his

:19:14.:19:20.

face there. At least he is smiling now. The demeanour is just a little

:19:21.:19:23.

different since the chat at half-time. That was so close there.

:19:24.:19:37.

Germany have the hammer here. They have to be careful as well. They

:19:38.:19:41.

have responded well. The Germans only have one shot here

:19:42.:20:00.

and they have got last shot advantage and they do not want to

:20:01.:20:06.

just score one so they want to bring their stones right into the house

:20:07.:20:11.

alongside that other one but if they do not get it in the right place and

:20:12.:20:14.

they could leave Dave another hit to get another yellow out. Stone

:20:15.:20:21.

placement is so key at this point in the game. You can see the difference

:20:22.:20:26.

there in the take outs. Felix has a 90% statistic on his take-out 's --

:20:27.:20:31.

take outs and a very high statistic for his drawers. He is performing

:20:32.:20:38.

very well at the minute, 93%. They are just watching this one, laying

:20:39.:20:42.

off it. Now they are trying to sweep it in. That polled more than I think

:20:43.:21:00.

he anticipated there. -- pulled. I think he wanted to catch his own

:21:01.:21:04.

yellow but we saw him saying that he thought it pulled a lot quicker but

:21:05.:21:08.

it is her pretty good position for him.

:21:09.:21:36.

So they are just going to put a garden here to block the way? Dave

:21:37.:21:51.

is electing to God. -- guard. He is playing an in-turn here. He is just

:21:52.:22:00.

asking for a little bit less ice. He does not think he needs to have that

:22:01.:22:08.

much. I guess he wants to leave this high enough that it would not allow

:22:09.:22:13.

the German skip to draw in there for a second shot. He must prefer this

:22:14.:22:24.

in turn to his out because he could potentially have taken the other

:22:25.:22:27.

hand over and played in out-turn to draw and they will have to sweep

:22:28.:22:32.

this hard to get it across the line. They are working hard on it. That is

:22:33.:22:42.

a nice shot there. Yes, some good sweeping, some good teamwork. It

:22:43.:22:46.

looked as though it was going to be a bit shorter one point but it is

:22:47.:22:51.

not bad at all. Now they are having a look. I think the only shot I see

:22:52.:22:59.

left here is that yellow that we see at the top of the house here on the

:23:00.:23:03.

left-hand side they could potentially drive that into the

:23:04.:23:12.

pack. They are just going to check the angle of that now.

:23:13.:23:28.

Unlike Dave's shot, when he was trying to drive a shot in earlier in

:23:29.:23:37.

the game, the Germans have the lucky advantage of the fact that it is

:23:38.:23:42.

their own shot that they are going to be driving in. What about the

:23:43.:23:51.

danger of... ? Drive it down in here and then hopefully take out these

:23:52.:24:02.

two red stones, if they have that possibility to score more than one.

:24:03.:24:07.

The downside, if he doesn't judge this right? I think the yellow in

:24:08.:24:18.

the house is going to jam anyway. It shouldn't be a big issue. The weight

:24:19.:24:31.

they are throwing should be to tap the yellow in and just score his

:24:32.:24:40.

two. They have done really well. A really good shot from Schulze, well

:24:41.:24:47.

thought through with his skip, and they get their two. Not being

:24:48.:24:56.

greedy. Playing the end as it panned out. And as you said earlier, get

:24:57.:25:06.

your two, forced the one, get your two, force the one, you will win.

:25:07.:25:14.

5-3 after six. Good to see Dave Murdoch tell the team that it was a

:25:15.:25:18.

good end, because it was a good end. The only thing they can take from

:25:19.:25:22.

that is that the German skip once again answered the questions that

:25:23.:25:25.

have been asked. That could easily have been a one to Germany, he

:25:26.:25:34.

played a fantastic shot. Schulze is working well, the two of them know

:25:35.:25:37.

each other pretty well but John Jahr and him are making good decisions

:25:38.:25:40.

and he is the one who is executing the shots, doing really well,

:25:41.:25:47.

shooting 94%. Hazel asked us earlier about these teams switching

:25:48.:25:52.

positions and, as we said, Johnny has got the experience and is quite

:25:53.:25:58.

happy to lead the team as a skip, but young Felix is playing some

:25:59.:26:03.

fantastic shotmaking. And that is a wise decision, for this team to work

:26:04.:26:04.

in that format. So if anybody has any questions out

:26:05.:26:21.

there to ask, do post them to #lovecurling, and hopefully at some

:26:22.:26:27.

point they will make their way to Steve and I and we will be able to

:26:28.:26:31.

answer your questions. Again, if anybody out there is watching the

:26:32.:26:35.

Great Britain boys curling at the moment and fancy having a try.

:26:36.:26:46.

Www.trycurling.com is a fantastic website to go on to, it tells you

:26:47.:26:49.

all about the game and the equipment you need and you can pop your

:26:50.:26:52.

postcode in and find out where your nearest ice rink is. There are ice

:26:53.:26:58.

allocations booked all over England, Scotland and Wales. Have a look and

:26:59.:27:05.

go and try the game of curling, a great sport to be played by young

:27:06.:27:09.

and old, and if you have got the flair for the game, then who knows?

:27:10.:27:12.

You could be the next person competing for your country for Great

:27:13.:27:19.

Britain at the Olympics. Everybody can dream. Absolutely. Look at this

:27:20.:27:28.

guy here, he had completely retired and that was, what, 15 years ago?

:27:29.:27:32.

And now back representing his country at the Olympic Games. I am

:27:33.:27:37.

delighted to say we are joined in the commentary box by Greg Reidy --

:27:38.:27:47.

Craig Reidy. Your thoughts at Sochi, you have had a good look around the

:27:48.:27:53.

venues could you not you are in here a couple of days ago. I was, the

:27:54.:27:58.

venues are just terrific. Practically everything is brand-new,

:27:59.:28:02.

conditions are outstanding. I think the whole thing is great. And as it

:28:03.:28:07.

gets warmer over the next few days, I think conditions might change a

:28:08.:28:12.

bit up the mountain, but here in the curling hall, packed with

:28:13.:28:19.

spectators, good sport. I was asked yesterday when I was doing an

:28:20.:28:25.

interview on the radio, one IOC member had mentioned that the crowds

:28:26.:28:28.

were not so enthusiastic, but certainly here at the curling, it is

:28:29.:28:33.

a small venue and has been for most of the time and the Russian crowd

:28:34.:28:36.

have been playing their part, it has been a great atmosphere, so I cannot

:28:37.:28:41.

comment on other venues but here, it has been good. The figure skating

:28:42.:28:47.

team event, when Russia won their gold medal, that really set the

:28:48.:28:51.

place alight. It was a terrific atmosphere. And many thousands were

:28:52.:28:57.

around the medal Plaza when they got Russia's first goal. I think they

:28:58.:29:04.

were worried at first that they wouldn't pull in the crowds but we

:29:05.:29:08.

have had terrific support watching the curling. It is very exciting,

:29:09.:29:13.

and particularly when Russia play, it is noisy. Very much so. And it

:29:14.:29:19.

adds to the atmosphere of this ice cube venue -- Ice Cube. And has the

:29:20.:29:32.

ice being good? It has been very good. I spoke to the boys earlier

:29:33.:29:36.

and they are happy with the weight, it is consistent from start to

:29:37.:29:38.

finish and they are getting some nice draws out there. Maybe a couple

:29:39.:29:45.

of tactical errors a couple of pence ago. I think David had an

:29:46.:29:49.

unnecessary miss when he chose the wrong is shot but I am not an

:29:50.:29:54.

expert. I would agree, he tried the big corner which didn't work and I

:29:55.:30:00.

think he could have played an attack and it might have turned the game

:30:01.:30:04.

earlier. We might have to ask him that at the end, when the interview

:30:05.:30:08.

him, to see what his thoughts were. Quite often, tactics are fantastic

:30:09.:30:12.

but if you are not confident of the shot you are playing, you don't play

:30:13.:30:16.

it. It was strange, Steve and I said that, he is playing the draw shot

:30:17.:30:20.

and the tag back shots very well, so it will be interesting to see what

:30:21.:30:26.

he thought. Lets hope they are all infused by Jenny Jones' medal, which

:30:27.:30:32.

was wonderful for the spirit in the team. I was so pleased for her. I

:30:33.:30:37.

think the point, Jenny Jones included, to reiterate, when you get

:30:38.:30:44.

to any Olympic Games, the fact that you are here and in this

:30:45.:30:47.

competition, they're rather stronger and weaker teams, but on any day,

:30:48.:30:52.

anyone can beat anyone else and they have to take that attitude. We would

:30:53.:30:56.

have been guilty of the same, looking at this match against

:30:57.:30:59.

Germany and thinking it is a match we should win. As we can see, far

:31:00.:31:04.

from it. You definitely have to give a lot of respect to every team that

:31:05.:31:08.

is out there. They are the best in the country that are competing.

:31:09.:31:12.

Maybe on paper, you should be thinking we are the stronger team,

:31:13.:31:16.

but everyone is out there giving it absolutely everything they have got.

:31:17.:31:21.

All sports are different. I watched the downhill and without a doubt,

:31:22.:31:27.

Bodi Miller -- Bode Miller was favoured by distance and he missed

:31:28.:31:31.

by about two feet on one of the corners and came in at number six. I

:31:32.:31:40.

mean, the margins are so small. If you make one mistake, you lose

:31:41.:31:43.

speed, and he was the best in the world.

:31:44.:31:54.

I was just going to say one more question to Craig, but he is leaving

:31:55.:32:16.

hers. That about leaving us. Just watching Greg Drummond. Nice shot

:32:17.:32:26.

from him. It was good to have Craig into Sears, he is an avid curling

:32:27.:32:31.

fan and has been for many years -- in to see us. A fellow Scot.

:32:32.:32:38.

Yes, when I asked him if he wanted to comment have a chat off Mike, he

:32:39.:32:44.

said, don't ask me about the curling and as soon as we get him in, he

:32:45.:32:49.

wants to talk about the curling! Another nice shot from the German

:32:50.:32:54.

skip. At 48 years of age, he is loving this, loving being here,

:32:55.:33:00.

responding to the situation he finds himself in. They gave Canada a real

:33:01.:33:07.

match yesterday and they are giving Great Britain and David Murdoch

:33:08.:33:11.

something to think about here. I think there has been a lot of talk

:33:12.:33:17.

about our sport of curling and how it is really changing dynamics now

:33:18.:33:21.

and it is much more geared towards the younger player, but it is quite

:33:22.:33:27.

enlightening to see Johnny out there at 48 years old competing with the

:33:28.:33:31.

Young Boys in front of him, and himself still performing very well.

:33:32.:33:36.

Very sensible of him to take their head, where there is less sweeping

:33:37.:33:40.

involved and leaving the energetic step to the youngsters but it is

:33:41.:33:44.

good to see, I have said time and again, this is a sport for young and

:33:45.:33:48.

old and he is competing at the highest level possible, here at the

:33:49.:33:52.

Olympic Games. Well, he wouldn't thank you for saying he has given

:33:53.:33:59.

himself a lighter duties. He says he has been training like he has never

:34:00.:34:05.

done before. Swimming a kilometre a day and also been doing two hours of

:34:06.:34:09.

curling and at the weekend, trying to work with the team. So he has

:34:10.:34:15.

taken his Olympic quest very seriously indeed and, so far, so

:34:16.:34:24.

good. No stones in play at the moment. Great Britain, of course,

:34:25.:34:29.

with the hammer, which is the last stone advantage here. I think we

:34:30.:34:38.

will see Dave trying to utilise... There is a high red stone out of the

:34:39.:34:41.

house and he will want to come in around behind this and hopefully get

:34:42.:34:44.

a mistake from Germany. HAZEL IRVINE: As this stone by Dave

:34:45.:35:18.

Murdoch rolls down the ice, we are not going to get a chance on this

:35:19.:35:23.

programme to see the end of this particular end, the seventh. It

:35:24.:35:26.

looks as though Great Britain are placed to take at least one, though,

:35:27.:35:31.

in this very tense match against the Germans. We are going to be changing

:35:32.:35:35.

channels very soon. It does continue right now on the red button but we

:35:36.:35:39.

have to leave you and we will do so with the headlines from this

:35:40.:35:44.

morning. It has been a very eventful morning. Britain's 18-year-old Katie

:35:45.:35:49.

Summerhayes, well, she missed out on a ski slope style medal despite a

:35:50.:35:52.

spectacular second run, the judges ranking her seventh today.

:35:53.:35:59.

But Dara Howell made light of pretty difficult conditions to win the

:36:00.:36:02.

gold, continuing the Canadian domination of the freestyle skiing

:36:03.:36:06.

in these Games. Meanwhile, British cross-country

:36:07.:36:09.

skier Andrew Musgrave is through to the quarterfinals of the sprint

:36:10.:36:13.

after earning a top 30 finish in the opening heat. He races again at

:36:14.:36:18.

12:25pm your time. And let me point you in the direction of some of the

:36:19.:36:21.

other tasty morsels on offer from this day at the Olympic Games,

:36:22.:36:25.

another seven gold medals to be one before the day is out. Jonathan has

:36:26.:36:41.

plenty more action, including the curling. He has speed skating,

:36:42.:36:43.

snowboarding and the winning's Lodz. Then Clare Balding will have the

:36:44.:36:45.

men's halfpipe final and Sarah Takanashi, Japan's big hope for a

:36:46.:36:47.

first-ever women's ski jumping gold. Ski slopestyle, it has been

:36:48.:36:50.

quite a morning. Brilliant and brutal, roll on the men's event.

:36:51.:37:16.
