"Beautiful, fun-loving and an amazing friend" - tributes pour in

for the Guernsey woman killed in Putting a price on care - calls for

more financial support for thousands of carers.

And, on a roll, Jersey Rugby Club celebrates their ninth consecutive

win. Will they score another An amazing friend, just one tribute

to a young Guernsey woman who's been killed in a traffic accident

in London. Ellie Carey died after her bicycle was involved in a

collision with a lorry. Penny Elderfield reports.

At 22, Ellie had everything to look forward to in life. But it's a life

that was sadly cut short. A student studying at University in London,

she was killed in a road accident there last Friday. Since then

tributes have been pouring in online from those that knew and

loved her. Ellie has been a volunteer for Bridge To Sri Lanka

for over a year. She loved a life. She was always happy and smiling.

In fact, she had offered to go back again after her studies. We were

going to discuss it more. I'm so sad. She would have given so much

of herself. She was a wonderful girl. And it's clear that's a view

that is shared by so many others. A man's since been arrested on

suspicion of causing death by careless driving, and bailed to

Guernsey police are investigating after a man was found dead in a

hotel over the weekend. The man, in his 30s, was found in the Trelade

in St Martin's on Saturday evening. Officers say his death is

unexplained and will release more details once his next of kin have

been told. Meanwhile investigations are

continuing into the unexplained death of a man in St Peter Port.

37-year-old Lee Solano was found at an address in Back Street on Friday

afternoon. Three local men were arrested in connection with the

incident and have now been released on police bail. Anyone who saw or

had contact with Lee Solano last Thursday or Friday should contact

Guernsey police. In Jersey, A man was knocked

unconscious during an assault in Town Park in the early hours of

this morning. The 37-year-old was taken to hospital with head

injuries, which aren't thought to be serious. Police describe the

attacker as male, about five foot eight inches tall, with short or

shaven hair and wearing a white or light-coloured top. He's believed

to have been with two women at the time.

There's calls for more financial support for carers in Jersey.

Around 7,000 people in the island look after a loved one, but the

Jersey Association of Carers say while there's more awareness of the

struggles carers face, the government still needs to offer

more support. Beckie Wiliams reports.

This was David and his wife, Mary in happier times. Five years ago

she was diagnosed with lung disease and is now bedridden. Make sure the

things aren't getting caught. needs round-the-clock care and

David can't do it all. But he's had to get in private carers here in

from the UK because he says the cost of local care is too much.

It's a very big problem. I've been paying in April and May, �425 a day.

Although we had excellent service from Social Services, district

nurses, no-one could give us the care my wife needed. -- Social

Security. And that financial burden is an issue facing more than 7,000

islanders who are carers. There is help available for people on income

support, but bosses here at the Jersey Association of Carers

believe middle earners need more assistance. A lot of people do find

they have to give up work to care for people at home. If they want

some time off, the care is very expensive. Social Security say

there are plans to introduce a new care benefit that won't be means

tested. The states have agreed the legislation for a new long-term

care benefits, a contributory benefit. We hope the regulations

under that legislation will define the amounts people receive and the

amount of repayment. Meanwhile for David there's a constant need to

balance the books. He's one of the lucky ones and can afford private

care. But the many other carers in Jersey without savings will welcome

To Channel Islanders are gearing up for an epic adventure. They are set

to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa next week after winning a

national competition. Their part by a little earlier and so I started

by asking them how it all came about. I saw the competition on

line. It was to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in the most creative

manner whilst raising money for Tanzanian charities. I entered on

line. The reason you won the competition, there is a clue,

around your neck. We both have a camera. I have Mainz strapped to my

chest. It will be taking a time lapse of the entire plan, taking a

picture every second. We will create a film at the end. Ed will

film documentary footage. At the end of it, we will produce a DVD we

can show people and sell and so on. You raise the money by selling the

DVD? Yes. Ally starring in the DVD? We thought rather than doing

decline, we would do the training montage. We will do some footage

around the studio. All sorts of things travelling to and from Mount

Kilimanjaro. It gives another perspective. You mention training

montages, can you tell us what you have been up to as a pair? The is a

lot -- there is not a lot of Manton this areas in the Channel Islands -

- mountain's. Nothing can train due for altitude sickness. Hopefully,

we are fit enough so that will not happen. How you feeling, nervous?

Excited and nervous. You have all these expectations but it is not

until you get there that the real nerds will kick in. When you start?

We fly on Saturday and arrive Sunday and commends climbing on

Sunday. This time next week, you will be getting up the mind turned.

What about the charity and with the money will go to? There are various

charities in Tanzania. Everything from malnutrition, disease, and

even supporting people end Tanzania. There's a whole host of charities

that we are climbing with. Adds to the pressure. Yes. We are looking

forward to it. Can't wait to get up there. Nerves, you cannot plan for

day but that did not stop Jersey rugby club claiming a 9th

consecutive win. League One. A penalty kick from Jersey's

opponents, Coventry, started the points rolling in but after that it

was Jersey's game. But, it wasn't an easy win with challenging

conditions to contend with. But despite the rain and the mud,

almost 2,000 spectators turned up to watch some very tight rugby from

the home side. It makes such a difference to us, knowing it is not

just friends and family, people are supporting us and put in the island

on the map. In the second half, it got muddier and meaner, with Jersey

applying more pressure. At full- time the score was 29-3, making it

a ninth consecutive win for Jersey. It means they remain in fourth

place in the league. And at the halfway point in the season, the

coach is confident. We have played every single side, we know we can

beat the through lost two. We believe that. Another day, we can

beat anybody in this league. We feel confident. We have to have a

look with injury and referee decisions but that is the nature of

professional sport will do we feel we're in control of our destiny.
