the strike to be called off. That is right. These talks collapsed at 4pm.

As far as we know, there are no plans for any more. If it goes

ahead, what effect will it have on the bigger picture? The powers that

be here at the headquarters say these changes are vital. They need

more modern, efficient equipment. Trains running 24 hours a dasmt the

plan, as it stands will compromise jobs. We have been here before.

We've had strikes and changes. As ever, it is the public stranded in

the middle. If mood is sympathetic for both sides. That will be tested.

If that starts to shift, we'll see a re`focussing of minds to try and

break this deadlock. Thank you. A family in High Wycombe has spoken

of their shock after a large sinkhole opened up outside their

house, swallowing up their daughter's car. Luckily no`one was

injured. It is thought heavy rain may be partly to blame.

Investigators are investigating the cause. Imagine waking up to this ` a

hole that has swallowed your car right outside your doorstep. That is

what happened to Liz and Phil Conran from High Wycombe. They were

confronted by the sinkhole when they were woken up by their daughter on

Sunday morning. We heard a piercing stream at `` scream at 7am. She was

looking out the window and saying, my car has gone. Meanwhile thisle

pit has left neighbours literally speechless. We saw it on television,

and I went... Gobsmacked! What could have created this hole? About 100

years ago this part of the Chilterns used to be regularly mined for clay.

Those pits were filled in and the houses were built on top. The last

four months' worth of heavy winter rain have eroded the of sub soil,

leaving this in its wake. Lucky no`one here was hurt. In the United

States this hole of swallowed a car with the driver still in it. She

escaped alive. In Chicago a road buckled eating three vehicles. Back

in Buckinghamshire, the local authority is now investigating the

collapse. The Conrans hope it will avoid a whole lot of trouble in the

future. Incredible. OK, time for a look at

the weather with Wendy. What have you got for us? More rain. It is

edging into Berkshire and Surrey at the moment. We started with scenes

like this ` rosy skies. Through this week it will turn stormy from time

to time. Here is the rain that I mentioned it is just broken up as it

has come across the country. There could be one or two heavier bursts.

It will clear away and there'll be clear skies and temperatures down to

two or three Celsius. As we start tomorrow, watch out for one or two

isolated, heavy showers, maybe with hail and thunder in them. They are

tending to clear away during the afternoon, leaving us with dry and

sunny conditions. Temperatures between 7`9 Celsius. A deep area of

low pressure during the heavy rain that will go through overnight into

Tuesday and Wednesday and into Wednesday itself there'll be strong

winds as well. The Met Office has weather warnings in place for that.

Thankfully it will calm down a little bit as we go through the end

of the week. Thank you very much.
