to prevent water treatment works near Croydon from flooding. An

emergency multi`agency meeting has already `` also taken place to

as Dale Road turned into a lake It sits above an underground river

which the recent heavy rain and storms have brought to the surface.

on Friday. It has gone up two winches. It has got worse and worse

and this morning alone we have noticed we have risen by at least an

inch, or an inch and a half. Why do you think it is happening? There are

areas that flood and they are blocking those areas, so the water

is not being allowed to flow. It has no place to go, so it is backing up

into our properties. They aren't their neighbours think water being

diverted from the local Water Works is what is submerging their houses

and gardens. They have been pumping water away from this treatment works

for ten days now, at a rate of 24,000 litres a minute. It is to

stop the flood water contaminating the drinking water of all the people

that live around here, so the water is pumped away in these pipes and is

going two miles down the road to a reservoir in the middle of Purley.

The water has also been piped into temporary ponds and the council

denies any homes are being sacrificed for the greater good We

have four potential areas, the subway down here, a cricket patch,

school pitch, but church car park. They are not flooded at the moment.

If needed, we would flood them and it would not have a detrimental

effect. The family do not know when they will sleep at their house

again. Right now they can only watch as the relief operation takes place

around them. Windsor Castle, which can usually be

relied upon to keep tourists coming in regardless of the weather, seems

to have fallen victim to the floods. Although the castle itself has

remained dry, the same can't be said for the surrounding area.

It is business as usual at Windsor Castle. The changing of the guard at

the Palace where the Queen spends most of her weekends. Thank you I
