Good evening. This is BBC Newsline with Donna Traynor & Noel Thompson. | :00:14. | :00:22.
The headlines this Wednesday evening: Unemployment hits a 14 | :00:22. | :00:24.
year high. It means the early one in five | :00:24. | :00:30.
young people cannot find work. You think a degree guarantees you a | :00:30. | :00:34.
job. Of the fact is that you get out there and you cannot jump half | :00:34. | :00:37.
the way up the job ladder, you start at the bottom like everyone | :00:37. | :00:42.
else. Budget cuts delay improvements to | :00:42. | :00:45.
the Belfast to Londonderry well byline. | :00:45. | :00:50.
Electricity prices are set to go up by 20%. | :00:50. | :00:54.
BBC Newsline uncovers the phone scam was trying to get hold of your | :00:54. | :00:59.
credit card details. And it will turn chilly overnight. | :00:59. | :01:07.
I will have all the details later. If you want to be reminded how | :01:07. | :01:11.
fragile our economy is at the moment, all you need to do is look | :01:11. | :01:16.
at the latest job figures. The number of people signing on the | :01:16. | :01:23.
door has passed the 60,000 mark for the first time since September 1997. | :01:23. | :01:27.
The number claiming unemployment benefit in due live rose to more | :01:27. | :01:37.
:01:37. | :01:38. | ||
than 60,000. -- in July. Almost one in five young people looking for a | :01:38. | :01:42.
job cannot find one. It is not all rosy for those who do | :01:42. | :01:48.
find work. For some graduates it is a case of taking what they can get | :01:48. | :01:52.
and not a job connected to their qualification. There any sort of | :01:52. | :02:00.
employment that would go to school leavers. Earlier today I spoke to | :02:00. | :02:03.
graduates his study had not got them on to their preferred career | :02:03. | :02:09.
path. Clare at South -- McClure study law | :02:09. | :02:12.
and politics and graduated two years ago. | :02:12. | :02:17.
I am working in a coffee bar at the moment. I studied law and politics | :02:17. | :02:23.
but I am not sure if either of those avenues is open to me. I am | :02:23. | :02:27.
very interested in artistic pursuits. I would like to do | :02:27. | :02:32.
something in that but achieving it is another thing. | :02:32. | :02:37.
Peter graduated three years ago. He studied English literature and film | :02:37. | :02:40.
studies and did a Masters in advertising. | :02:40. | :02:46.
I am taking temporary jobs where I can. I am doing admin and office | :02:46. | :02:55.
but work. -- and office work. Nickie studied English. He | :02:55. | :03:00.
graduated in 2009. I want to work in advertising or | :03:00. | :03:04.
marketing. After years of study, how | :03:04. | :03:11.
frustrating it is it the line-out in jobs you have not plan to do? -- | :03:11. | :03:18.
and that you are now in jobs. It is frustrating. I am doing jobs | :03:18. | :03:23.
I was threatened with the type of jobs I do now. I was told that if I | :03:23. | :03:28.
did not work hard I would have to do this kind of job. People make | :03:28. | :03:31.
you feel bad about in that kind of work. | :03:31. | :03:36.
There is nothing wrong with working in a bar or coffee shop. You have | :03:36. | :03:41.
to do it again money coming in. I think it is about keeping your | :03:41. | :03:46.
spirits high. You need to keep applying for the job you want. | :03:46. | :03:51.
Many will be under the impression that you get a third level | :03:51. | :03:55.
education, you should be guaranteed a job. | :03:55. | :04:00.
For a you issue a decree guarantees you a job. The fact is, you get out | :04:00. | :04:04.
there and you cannot jump halfway up the job ladder. You have to | :04:04. | :04:09.
start at the bottom like everyone else. The degree comes into play | :04:09. | :04:16.
halfway up the job ladder. You can go a bit further. There is a sort | :04:16. | :04:20.
of pride issue as well. You think that because you have the degree | :04:20. | :04:25.
you deserve to start off at a better job or a higher-paying job. | :04:25. | :04:34.
You have to fight that mentality. There is just a sort of panic mode | :04:34. | :04:38.
at the minute because there is a recession. Everyone is neglecting | :04:38. | :04:46.
the facts but will it takes people 15 or 20 years at times what they | :04:46. | :04:52.
want to do with their lives. I do not think people need to panic. | :04:52. | :04:55.
If you find yourself in a similar position, we would like to hear | :04:55. | :04:57.
your story. You can get in touch with us | :04:57. | :04:59.
through our Facebook page. That's facebook.com/bbcnewsline or contact | :04:59. | :05:00.
us on Twitter. That's twitter.com/bbcnewsline. And | :05:00. | :05:10.
:05:10. | :05:14. | ||
there's also our email: I talked to just a sample of | :05:14. | :05:18.
graduates there. A lesson to all of us not to expect too much in regard | :05:18. | :05:24.
to job prospects at the moment. People are not being put off going | :05:24. | :05:28.
to university. A degree is no guarantee of a job but more people | :05:28. | :05:34.
than ever are applying for places. Our Education Correspondent is with | :05:34. | :05:40.
me. More are replying but are they choosing more vocational courses? - | :05:40. | :05:46.
- more are applying. Some people have applied for are a | :05:46. | :05:54.
number of courses. There is a run on places because of the possible | :05:54. | :06:00.
increase in tuition fees. However, some of the changes are due to | :06:00. | :06:05.
recession and not tuition fees. There has been a drop in the number | :06:05. | :06:09.
of people going for Jobson relating to the built environment, | :06:09. | :06:15.
architecture, civil and structural engineering. A lot of people in | :06:15. | :06:21.
those jobs were emigrating to get work. Other popular jobs are | :06:21. | :06:26.
nursing and business and communications studies. People see | :06:26. | :06:31.
a job at the end of those courses. Many people get their A-level | :06:31. | :06:37.
results tomorrow. A new mode of delivery this year? | :06:37. | :06:40.
This is the first year that people will be able to get their results | :06:40. | :06:46.
online if they wanted from about 7am. There were pilot schemes last | :06:46. | :06:54.
year. This year, the lower and upper 6th will be able to get their | :06:54. | :06:58.
results if they log on with a pin number. Not every school has signed | :06:58. | :07:05.
up for this. About 60% have. We expect about 25,000 students to | :07:05. | :07:11.
sign up and login to find out what results they have. Then a key go on | :07:11. | :07:16.
to the universe the clearing sites to find out what places they can | :07:16. | :07:22.
get. About 40% of schools have decided that they want pupils to | :07:22. | :07:27.
come in for a reassuring hug. Lots of decisions will be made | :07:27. | :07:33.
tomorrow, not least about tuition fees. The website has a question | :07:34. | :07:37.
and answer section of on tuition fees. | :07:37. | :07:41.
Safety work on the railway line between Belfast and Londonderry | :07:41. | :07:46.
will mean quite a lot of disruption for passengers for the foreseeable | :07:46. | :07:50.
future. The line is due a major upgrade but the transport Minister | :07:50. | :07:54.
says the money for that will not be available for three years. In the | :07:54. | :07:58.
meantime, the safety programme will affect many services with | :07:58. | :08:06.
passengers being taken by bus between Coleraine and Sterry. -- | :08:06. | :08:12.
Coleraine and Londonderry. The move has provoked anger. | :08:12. | :08:16.
This well why has been described as one of the most picturesque train | :08:16. | :08:20.
journeys in the world. Michael Palin even made a programme | :08:20. | :08:25.
celebrating its beauty. Single track and stately speed to show | :08:25. | :08:29.
where the transport priorities lie in Northern Ireland. | :08:29. | :08:33.
It is also a key economic link between the two big cities of | :08:33. | :08:39.
Northern Ireland. Translink says it needs to carry out essential | :08:39. | :08:42.
maintenance but when this happens the frequency of services on the | :08:42. | :08:46.
line will be reduced by six trains a day. | :08:46. | :08:50.
A third of all the trains will terminate hearing Coleraine. | :08:50. | :08:54.
Passengers from Belfast will have to get up and make the rest of the | :08:54. | :09:02.
journey by bus. That could take up to two years. -- that could | :09:02. | :09:10.
continue for ought to two years. The trains that will continue on | :09:10. | :09:14.
the original route will take even longer. | :09:14. | :09:19.
I come down to Derry quite a lot. The train line is very scenic. I | :09:20. | :09:22.
think it will be quite disappointing if it becomes a bus | :09:22. | :09:27.
service. Why when they spend the money on | :09:27. | :09:32.
this side of Coleraine? I prefer to take the train, to be | :09:32. | :09:36.
honest. The money for a comprehensive | :09:36. | :09:41.
refits of the line is not available. That is due to the public sector | :09:41. | :09:46.
spending cuts. Work on a major upgrade was a poster start next | :09:46. | :09:53.
year but has been delayed. It remains a promise of a | :09:53. | :10:01.
embarrassment of 75 million. We now have a Minister saying this | :10:01. | :10:05.
change represents an improvement to services. It is an indictment of | :10:05. | :10:13.
the service that Translink currently offers. If the buses work | :10:13. | :10:19.
well, well a perhaps council the trains altogether? | :10:19. | :10:23.
The transport minister, Danny Kennedy, says he has no plans to | :10:23. | :10:28.
allow on the line so close. Derry will be the UK city of Culture in | :10:28. | :10:32.
2014 and will be pushing for more tourism. | :10:32. | :10:34.
The public service union NIPSA says it intends to ballot its members on | :10:34. | :10:37.
whether to take strike action after meeting the education minister Jon | :10:37. | :10:45.
O'Dowd. The union has predicted that budget cuts could cost 1000 | :10:45. | :10:49.
jobs in his department. A spokesman said the minister described the | :10:50. | :10:53.
situation as bleak and was unable to give them assurances that job | :10:53. | :10:58.
losses could be avoided. Two men have appeared in court on | :10:58. | :11:02.
charges linked to the murder of Marc Williamson who was stabbed to | :11:02. | :11:08.
death in Portadown on Sunday morning. | :11:08. | :11:15.
The parents of Marc Williamson leave Lisburn Kirk House. -- Court | :11:15. | :11:20.
House. He died after being stabbed near his flat in Hartfield Avenue | :11:20. | :11:26.
in the early hours of Sunday morning. Today 26 year-old Denvir | :11:26. | :11:31.
Cardwell was charged with his murder. He steered with his head | :11:31. | :11:34.
bowed and only nodded to confirm that he understood the charge | :11:34. | :11:41.
against him. Alongside him in the day up -- in the dock was David | :11:41. | :11:46.
Stuart McCullough. He is accused of intimidating a witness and | :11:46. | :11:52.
assisting an offender. The police particularly want to hear from the | :11:52. | :11:58.
driver of a silver Vauxhall Vectra or that was parked outside a house | :11:58. | :12:06.
at around us for 20 am on Sunday. The two men will appear in court | :12:06. | :12:09.
again next month and have been remanded in custody. | :12:10. | :12:16.
Still to come. I am alive in Omagh and there is | :12:16. | :12:20.
something in the air that is not pleasant. | :12:20. | :12:25.
And one man's recipe for getting off the dole. Once a pretty, now a | :12:25. | :12:30.
chef. If you are a customer of our | :12:30. | :12:35.
biggest home electricity supplier, you are about to face a price hike. | :12:35. | :12:40.
The increases by Power NI I ate will be announced next week by the | :12:40. | :12:47.
utility regulator. All across the British Isles, power | :12:47. | :12:53.
companies are hiking up tariffs, blaming increases on the rise of | :12:53. | :12:59.
the cast of the coal, oil and gas are needed to produce electricity. | :12:59. | :13:03.
Power NI will have to convince the utility regulator that a sharp | :13:04. | :13:07.
increase is justified. The final figure will not be made public | :13:07. | :13:11.
until next week but there is well- founded speculation that it could | :13:11. | :13:17.
be as much as 20%. That would add around 99 per year to the average | :13:17. | :13:23.
bill. Prices are rising on the wholesale | :13:23. | :13:28.
markets. We are concerned about how this will impact on consumers, | :13:28. | :13:32.
especially the 40% of consumers who are in fuel poverty in Northern | :13:32. | :13:36.
Ireland and struggle to pay their bills. | :13:36. | :13:40.
Consumers may feel they can ill- afford a 20% increase in their | :13:40. | :13:46.
edges of the bill. The power company has frozen prices since | :13:46. | :13:52.
2008 and the last price move was down when Pat -- went Harris were | :13:52. | :13:59.
cut by 15% in 2009. Details of the price increase will be made public | :13:59. | :14:06.
next week. The price rise is likely to apply from 1st October. | :14:06. | :14:11.
While electricity prices are set to move up, heating oil has become | :14:11. | :14:15.
cheaper in recent weeks. The question is how long will that | :14:15. | :14:25.
:14:25. | :14:26. | ||
continue? From around 550 a few weeks ago, a | :14:26. | :14:32.
similar amount will cost around 500. The market does remain | :14:32. | :14:36.
volatile. At the moment I'll prices have | :14:36. | :14:40.
fallen and they have come down by 10% during the summer. It is hard | :14:40. | :14:44.
to predict what will happen in the future. We hope they will come down | :14:44. | :14:50.
further. An increase of up to 20% of will | :14:50. | :14:59.
ports many household finances under For one of our viewers has got in | :14:59. | :15:03.
touch to tell us about a telephone scam, in which fraudsters tried to | :15:03. | :15:08.
get people's credit card details. John Ellison became suspicious when | :15:08. | :15:13.
he got a call from someone posing as a market researcher. He has told | :15:13. | :15:17.
his story in the hope that no one will fall for it. | :15:17. | :15:21.
Phone of fraudsters often operate overseas, but they can reach us in | :15:21. | :15:26.
our living rooms. John Ellison from Newry received a scam call two | :15:26. | :15:30.
nights ago. The caller said he was carrying out a consumer survey, but | :15:30. | :15:37.
John became suspicious. I was able to ascertain that the call was a | :15:37. | :15:43.
call about which I had questions, I came to the conclusion that this | :15:43. | :15:47.
could have been a telephone scam to elicit responses which could be | :15:47. | :15:51.
used for a credit card scam. So with that in mind, I ended the | :15:52. | :15:56.
conversation. For last night, he received another call, this time | :15:56. | :16:01.
the caller hung up when he started questioning him. John contacted BT | :16:01. | :16:06.
to tell them what was happening. The response I got indicated that | :16:06. | :16:10.
there appeared to be a planned and systematic background to this, and | :16:10. | :16:15.
therefore I contacted your selves in the BBC so that this message | :16:15. | :16:19.
could be related to people across the province, so that people would | :16:19. | :16:24.
not fall victim to this particular scam. John got in touch with BBC | :16:24. | :16:27.
Newsline because he was concerned that other people might be more | :16:28. | :16:32.
vulnerable to the fraudsters. According to the Trading Standards | :16:32. | :16:36.
service, this sort of scam happens often. It is obviously a very | :16:36. | :16:40.
common scam, we get a lot of complaints from consumers who are | :16:40. | :16:44.
contacted directly from someone telling them there is a problem | :16:45. | :16:49.
with their computer when things like that. There is a variation on | :16:49. | :16:52.
a theme, people are just looking for credit card details so that | :16:52. | :16:57.
they can take people's money. BT have told us about another | :16:57. | :17:02.
common scam. Fraudsters phone customers pretending to be from a | :17:02. | :17:06.
phone company. They claim there is an unpaid bill, and they threaten | :17:06. | :17:10.
to cut off the line. As a result, several people have handed over | :17:10. | :17:14.
their details. The advice for anyone who suspects they are | :17:14. | :17:18.
receiving a fraudulent call is that they should not engage the caller, | :17:18. | :17:21.
and their aim is not under any circumstances give out personal or | :17:21. | :17:26.
financial information. The Nationwide Building Society has | :17:26. | :17:31.
removed adverts from its branches which make reference to the | :17:31. | :17:35.
financial problems of the Presbyterian Mutual Society. The 14 | :17:35. | :17:40.
posters revert to the collapse of the PMS, of which went into | :17:40. | :17:42.
administration in 2008. In a statement, Nationwide said the | :17:42. | :17:46.
advert was not meant to cause offence and was trying to highlight | :17:46. | :17:49.
the building society as a safe place to save. | :17:49. | :17:53.
Earlier, we heard about another rise in the jobless total. To get | :17:53. | :17:56.
off the dole, many people are thinking of making a radical change | :17:56. | :18:01.
of career. But it is some late -- week to go from being a bricklayer | :18:01. | :18:07.
to a chef. That is exactly what a man in Newcastle has done. France's | :18:07. | :18:14.
Gorman et Paddy McAuley. Crabmeat, prom, soft cheese, lemon | :18:14. | :18:19.
zest. One of Paddy McAuley's starters at the bar and a hotel. | :18:19. | :18:25.
But he was not always a chef. For 20 years, he was a bricklayer. | :18:25. | :18:30.
got to the stage where I had no work in six weeks. It could not pay | :18:30. | :18:37.
the bills. He decided it was time for any other job. He looked for | :18:37. | :18:43.
one year, and washed dishes at minimum wage for another. Them, | :18:43. | :18:48.
promotion to chef. A I am enjoying it. Then I know that when I come to | :18:48. | :18:54.
work, I am not under get turned away. And you have been back to | :18:54. | :18:59.
college to study and take courses in catering? Yes, I took a course | :18:59. | :19:07.
in cookery. It was difficult, sitting with the young ones. And it | :19:07. | :19:14.
-- it was not like that at all. boss is Paddy Boyle. He recalls | :19:14. | :19:19.
giving the former bricklayer a six- week trial in the kitchen. He took | :19:19. | :19:24.
to it like a duck to water. He loves it, we like him. He is always | :19:24. | :19:29.
on time. You can depend on him. is he an exception? His boss says | :19:29. | :19:34.
it is very difficult to recruit and keep local people in the kitchen. | :19:34. | :19:37.
lot of then you cannot depend on, they want to come and say that they | :19:37. | :19:42.
want to do this, do that, they will stay for two or three weeks, and | :19:42. | :19:45.
then they get paid and they go drinking on Friday and leave you | :19:45. | :19:52.
without a chef at the weekend. We have three people that week when | :19:52. | :19:57.
three an agency to get, they came from India. To meet the demand for | :19:57. | :20:02.
chefs, the Mattel is building its own training kitchen, designed to | :20:02. | :20:07.
attract school-leavers. Paddy is planning a more cooking | :20:07. | :20:10.
qualifications. But there is one thing he does not need to learn. | :20:10. | :20:14.
Quite often when you go into a restaurant and get your main course, | :20:14. | :20:22.
everything is stacked one on top of the other. It is easy for me to do | :20:22. | :20:28.
that! Creating dishes like these is a far cry from building walls. But | :20:28. | :20:38.

Paddy has turned a corner, and is planning to stay in the kitchen. | :20:38. | :20:42.
As our floor manager said, that these will be setting in 10 | :20:42. | :20:46.
minutes! Residents of part of a map are | :20:46. | :20:51.
raising a stink over a smell they say is blighting their lives -- | :20:51. | :20:55.
Omagh. It has been worse with the warm weather and they are calling | :20:55. | :20:59.
for an investigation. Louise Cullen is getting to the bottom of it. | :20:59. | :21:06.
I am here in Omagh. Residents have been played for the last four years | :21:06. | :21:10.
with a bad smell. Some of it has been due to industrial discharge, | :21:10. | :21:16.
but last year, Northern Ireland Water carried out sewage works, and | :21:16. | :21:21.
residents say it has not helped, it has only shifted the smells. You | :21:21. | :21:25.
have a business and have had to turn away clients because you're | :21:25. | :21:29.
worried about the smell. What impact is it having on your live? | :21:29. | :21:33.
It is dreadful, you can no longer enjoy the use of your home, you | :21:33. | :21:37.
cannot put out your laundry or even open your windows. You invest a lot | :21:37. | :21:45.
of money, you expect to be able to use it. It has been awful. | :21:45. | :21:47.
Northern Ireland what to say they are carrying out investigations, | :21:47. | :21:50.
but they do not know what the source of the smell is or even if | :21:51. | :21:56.
they are responsible. You are a councillor here. What have Northern | :21:56. | :22:00.
Ireland what had been saying? spoke to them yesterday, and they | :22:00. | :22:04.
told me they do not know what the source of the smell is. They have | :22:04. | :22:09.
sent out engineers and scientists to investigate. I am also meeting | :22:09. | :22:11.
the water service at a meeting tomorrow, and I will be asking them | :22:11. | :22:18.
to have an immediate resolution to the problem. Thank you. Northern | :22:18. | :22:21.
Ireland Water is carrying out further investigations. Residents | :22:21. | :22:25.
say the smellers mile today. I have to say that for me, it is very | :22:25. | :22:31.
strong. It is rotten eggs, sulphur, methane. It is pungent, and it is | :22:31. | :22:38.
certainly not pleasant. You would not even be able to open | :22:38. | :22:44.
the window! Sport, and Stephen Ferris has made the Ireland subs | :22:44. | :22:47.
bench for this Saturday's World Cup warm-up game against France in | :22:47. | :22:51.
Dublin. He has not played since January and is one of four Ulster | :22:51. | :22:56.
players likely to feature in the match. It is a last chance to | :22:56. | :23:01.
impress David -- Declan Kidney, who will name his squad on Monday. | :23:01. | :23:04.
The French trained at their County Meath hotel this morning, with | :23:04. | :23:11.
almost an entirely different team. They had been 13 changes made for | :23:11. | :23:17.
Saturday's game against Ireland. But this time, the French face a | :23:17. | :23:21.
strong Ireland team, possibly the strongest available to Declan | :23:21. | :23:26.
Kidney. And that side was announced here earlier today. 33 players have | :23:26. | :23:30.
been tried and tested throughout the summer series. But with two | :23:30. | :23:37.
defeats, pressure is beginning to mount on the Allen's team. If we | :23:37. | :23:42.
did not win a warm-up game, it would not be ideal. But it is not | :23:42. | :23:47.
the World Cup. That is in three weeks time. So let us try and look | :23:47. | :23:50.
at having as good a performance as possible, and hopefully the result | :23:50. | :23:54.
that we are looking for, and I think we are going into the game | :23:54. | :23:58.
with an attitude off really wanting to win this game, and we will see | :23:58. | :24:03.
what happens. Rory Best and Andrew Trimble are for Ireland. Stephen | :24:03. | :24:06.
Ferris is listed among the substitutes, and Declan Kidney is | :24:06. | :24:11.
hopeful he will not feature against the French. He has been going well | :24:11. | :24:14.
in training, but we said at the start that we would not wish anyone | :24:14. | :24:24.
:24:24. | :24:24. | ||
back. Play two, lose two, that is the current record for Ireland in | :24:24. | :24:29.
the summer series. And was one month to go until the World Cup, | :24:29. | :24:33.
this is the time for winning. The Director of Portadown Football | :24:33. | :24:36.
Club has resigned after shareholders rejected his proposals | :24:36. | :24:40.
to help tackle the club's debts. Yalcin Chew-book had wanted to | :24:40. | :24:44.
become chairman and was offering major investment. Austin | :24:44. | :24:48.
O'Callaghan and is with us. What is the financial picture? They have | :24:48. | :24:55.
substantial debt, 1.1 million, much of it is to do with the | :24:55. | :24:59.
redevelopment of the grounds, Shamrock Park. And they are trying | :24:59. | :25:03.
to get out of that debt. A local businessman, Yalcin Chew-book, on | :25:03. | :25:07.
the left of this picture, he has been involved with the club for | :25:07. | :25:10.
around 18 months. He came with the proposal to bring investment to the | :25:10. | :25:15.
club, which involved an link-up with at Football Club in Turkey. | :25:15. | :25:19.
But that offer was rejected on two occasions by the club's | :25:19. | :25:23.
shareholders. Some of them were concerned about the nature of the | :25:23. | :25:26.
investment. So this evening, they have announced they are dropping | :25:26. | :25:31.
their plans. Where does that leave the club? At in a financial | :25:31. | :25:38.
quandary. 1.1 million is not small beer. They are appointing a in | :25:38. | :25:42.
alternative board to try to deal with the immediate future. On the | :25:42. | :25:45.
pitch they are doing well, but there is no obvious solution to the | :25:45. | :25:48.
there is no obvious solution to the financial problems. Let's take a | :25:48. | :25:54.
look at the weather. It was not as bad Day Today, the kind of day that | :25:54. | :25:57.
would take you outdoors for a stroll on the beach for a walk in | :25:57. | :26:04.
the park. There are some great photographs, the deer were enjoying | :26:04. | :26:09.
the sunshine. As for today, the sunshine it gradually disappear | :26:09. | :26:14.
during the course of the afternoon. And for this evening, it will be | :26:14. | :26:19.
largely cloudy. The odd bright spot breaking through. But it is largely | :26:19. | :26:26.
dry as well. And it will stay dry overnight. But with the cloud | :26:26. | :26:31.
melting away and a light breeze, another chilly night. Temperatures | :26:31. | :26:34.
dropping to four or five degrees Celsius, perhaps even lower in | :26:34. | :26:40.
rural areas. And there is the chance of the odd shower. At a | :26:40. | :26:44.
glance, tomorrow looks very similar to today's. I day of sunshine and | :26:44. | :26:49.
showers. But there will be subtle differences. It will not be as | :26:49. | :26:52.
sunny tomorrow morning as it was this morning, there will be patchy | :26:52. | :26:57.
cloud to greet us first thing. So we are talking bright rather than | :26:57. | :27:01.
some to. And a few showers rolling around as well. They will get going | :27:01. | :27:05.
quite early in the day. So some showers during the course of the | :27:05. | :27:09.
morning, and they will continue during the course of the afternoon. | :27:09. | :27:14.
But it should also brighten up, sunshine will have temperatures to | :27:14. | :27:20.
around 16 or 17 degrees Celsius. Most of the shares will be light in | :27:20. | :27:25.
nature. So it will not feel too bad. The breeze will be quite light. The | :27:25. | :27:30.
showers will take -- fade away as we head through the day. So by the | :27:30. | :27:33.
time we get into the evening, most of them should be gone and it | :27:33. | :27:37.
should be a largely dry story. A little bit of sunshine in most | :27:37. | :27:42.
places to finish the day. On Friday, a bright start, but you cannot | :27:42. | :27:46.
depend on that day. The clouds will pick up, the breeze will pick up, | :27:46. | :27:50.
and will -- it will not be long before you see rain pushing in from | :27:50. | :27:56.
the West. Sunshine and showers for the weekend. | :27:56. | :28:01.
A reminder of our main stories. Unemployment has hit a 14 year high, | :28:01. | :28:06.
especially affecting young people. Nearly one in five cannot get a job. | :28:06. | :28:11. |
