showers in the west and south. That's all from the | :00:00. | 3:59:59
Good evening. Our main story on BBC Newsline: The biggest child abuse | :00:00. | :00:22.
inquiry ever held in the UK opens in Banbridge. | :00:23. | :00:30.
I was an abused child. I wasn't a delinquent. I was a child crying for | :00:31. | :00:35.
help. Four men are jailed after being | :00:36. | :00:38.
caught with a gun and ammunition near Omagh. | :00:39. | :00:41.
A woman found dead in a suspicious fire in Newry was from Birmingham. | :00:42. | :00:46.
The Assembly has its say on the Haass proposals. I'll have the | :00:47. | :00:49.
latest. We hear from the Ulster coach ahead | :00:50. | :00:52.
of this weekend's vital Heineken Cup clash with Leicester. | :00:53. | :00:56.
And as temperatures plunge, we can expect fog, frost and ice tonight. | :00:57. | :00:58.
Full weather details shortly. The inquiry into institutional abuse | :00:59. | :01:09.
has opened, and as the chairman put it, children who were abused can at | :01:10. | :01:12.
last feel they are being listened to. More than 300 people will give | :01:13. | :01:20.
evidence to the inquiry, which is examining claims against 13 | :01:21. | :01:24.
children's homes and borstals. The time period stretches from 1922 to | :01:25. | :01:30.
1995. The abuse inquiry is being held in Banbridge. Tara Mills was | :01:31. | :01:35.
there for the first day of the public hearing, and is there now. | :01:36. | :01:43.
Yes, Donna, it's the largest child abuse inquiry ever undertaken in the | :01:44. | :01:49.
UK. The court was told today it would examine the very soul of | :01:50. | :01:53.
Northern Ireland and how we treated the most vulnerable in society - our | :01:54. | :02:01.
children. They were the places where children should have been saved. | :02:02. | :02:06.
Homes in Ireland showed a different face in public as we now know the | :02:07. | :02:11.
reality behind closed doors was very different for many children. This | :02:12. | :02:15.
inquiry or setup to establish how widespread the abuse was and to | :02:16. | :02:20.
establish if it amounted to systemic failings by the church and state. | :02:21. | :02:25.
More than 400 people have come for to tell their stories, people like | :02:26. | :02:32.
Kate Walmsley. They classified me as a delinquent child, and today that | :02:33. | :02:39.
still really hurts. I was an abused child. I wasn't a delinquent. I was | :02:40. | :02:45.
a child crying for help. I was a hurts child. Michael suffered years | :02:46. | :02:53.
of abuse, effectively spending his childhood locked up. It is important | :02:54. | :02:59.
to let people in the outside world know what has been going on behind | :03:00. | :03:05.
closed doors. People didn't believe brothers could do these things. 13 | :03:06. | :03:11.
homes are under investigation in Belfast, Lisburn and around Northern | :03:12. | :03:17.
Ireland. Sir Anthony Hart is chairing being quarry. -- chairing | :03:18. | :03:24.
the inquiry. Their evidence will be vital and we hope every applicant | :03:25. | :03:30.
who gives evidence to the public hearings or only speaks to the | :03:31. | :03:35.
private and confidential part of the inquiry will have the satisfaction | :03:36. | :03:39.
of knowing that their experiences are at last being listened to and | :03:40. | :03:49.
investigated. Senior counsel to the inquiry Christine Smith said at the | :03:50. | :03:52.
heart of the proceedings was a very human story. By examining how | :03:53. | :03:59.
vulnerable children living in children's homes between 1982 -- | :04:00. | :04:07.
1922 and 1995 were treated, this inquiry will examine the soul of | :04:08. | :04:11.
Northern Ireland in that period. People who have campaigned for the | :04:12. | :04:18.
inquiry to be set up are relieved. Enter that we have so much support | :04:19. | :04:22.
and a legal process here who will look after us now. There are people | :04:23. | :04:29.
who work in institutions with us who are no longer with us, and all of us | :04:30. | :04:35.
have those thoughts. The abuse ranges from sexual crimes to | :04:36. | :04:39.
bullying and belittling and asks what those in authority knew, and | :04:40. | :04:43.
whether it was ignored, condone or covered up all stop day one may be | :04:44. | :04:50.
over but the inquiry team want that detestable -- the personal | :04:51. | :04:54.
testimonies which come next will be distressing and harrowing. They are | :04:55. | :05:05.
expected to last for 18 months. Four men arrested in connection with | :05:06. | :05:08.
a dissident republican attack in County Tyrone have been jailed for a | :05:09. | :05:12.
Total of 36 years. Their car was stopped by police officers outside | :05:13. | :05:15.
Omagh in 2010, and a gun and ammunition was found inside it. The | :05:16. | :05:18.
police say the security operation undoubtedly saved lives. Mervyn Jess | :05:19. | :05:24.
was at the Belfast court. In the dock at Laganside Courts were Daniel | :05:25. | :05:27.
John Turnbull, Mark McQuigan, Martin McLoone and Darryn Patrick | :05:28. | :05:37.
McCallion. They were charged with firearms offences including | :05:38. | :05:39.
possession of a gun and ammuniton. The PSNI believe the weapons were to | :05:40. | :05:43.
be used in a dissident republican attack. The four men from Omagh and | :05:44. | :05:46.
Londonderry were in a car stopped by police on the Gorticashel Road near | :05:47. | :05:50.
Omagh in October 2010. A search of the vehicle uncovered a Webley | :05:51. | :05:53.
revolver and bullets. In follow-up searches, police found a car | :05:54. | :05:55.
belonging to McCallion parked in Dava Forest in County Tryone with a | :05:56. | :05:58.
sledgehammer inside. Another car belonging to Turnbull was discovered | :05:59. | :06:01.
at Mill Cottages in Greencastle in County Tyrone. Inside were a | :06:02. | :06:05.
submachine gun, latex gloves and combat clothing. This morning at | :06:06. | :06:11.
Belfast Laganside Courts, a judge jailed all four men for a total of | :06:12. | :06:17.
36 years. 29-year-old Mark McQuigan, from Sperrin View in Omagh, was | :06:18. | :06:22.
sentenced to 12 years in jail. Daniel John Turnbull, aged 33, from | :06:23. | :06:25.
Strule Park in Omagh, was sentenced to nine years. 25-year-old Martin | :06:26. | :06:28.
McLoone, from Abercorn Road in Derry, was given eight years for his | :06:29. | :06:34.
part in the incident. And Darryn Patrick McCallion, aged 25, from | :06:35. | :06:36.
Rathlin Drive in Derry, was sentenced to seven years. Judge | :06:37. | :06:42.
Coreen Philpott ruled that each was to serve half their term in prison, | :06:43. | :06:51.
the other half on licence. The woman who died in a suspicious | :06:52. | :06:55.
house fire in Newry at the weekend has been formally identified by the | :06:56. | :06:59.
police. She was originally from the Birmingham area. Dan Stanton reports | :07:00. | :07:07.
from Newry. This happened late on Saturday night. The information is | :07:08. | :07:11.
still sketchy but from what the police have told me, we know the | :07:12. | :07:16.
woman's body was found in the flat behind me and that she was 38 years | :07:17. | :07:22.
old and from Birmingham. Her body was discovered following a call to | :07:23. | :07:25.
emergency services after a fire at the property. That call was made by | :07:26. | :07:31.
two men in the passivity. Police want to talk to them and anyone else | :07:32. | :07:34.
who may have seen anything suspicious. A postmortem examination | :07:35. | :07:40.
has been carried out and items have been taken for examination. | :07:41. | :07:47.
And in the last few minutes, the police have said there is no | :07:48. | :07:51.
evidence to suggest that the death is anything other than a tragic | :07:52. | :07:55.
accident. Their investigation is still ongoing. Still to come on BBC | :07:56. | :08:03.
Newsline this evening: A lot belonging to the father of David | :08:04. | :08:06.
Healy has been destroyed. An investigation is under way to try to | :08:07. | :08:19.
find out why. A 44-year-old man has died after his | :08:20. | :08:23.
car crashed early this morning. He was Lee Drake from the Ballynahinch | :08:24. | :08:26.
area. It happened on the Ballygowan Road near Saintfield. There were no | :08:27. | :08:28.
other vehicles involved. A man has been arrested in | :08:29. | :08:32.
connection with the murder of Basil McAfee in North Belfast last month. | :08:33. | :08:35.
The 50-year-old's body was found at a house in Henderson Avenue. A | :08:36. | :08:39.
55-year-old man was arrested in South Belfast this morning. | :08:40. | :08:49.
For the first time since the Haass talks, the Assembly is debating the | :08:50. | :08:52.
proposals on flags, parading and the past. The talks broke up without | :08:53. | :08:55.
agreement on New Year's Eve, and have sharply divided the five main | :08:56. | :08:58.
parties. Our political correspondent Martina Purdy is at Stormont. What | :08:59. | :09:09.
is the mood like their? It is calm and measured, which might be | :09:10. | :09:13.
surprising given the level of division between the parties. The | :09:14. | :09:17.
debate began and are go. Sinn Fein led the debate, pressing their own | :09:18. | :09:23.
motion which is that the Executive should lay the foundations for | :09:24. | :09:26.
someone think the proposals, but other parties, including Alliance, | :09:27. | :09:31.
the Ulster Unionists and DUP have sought to amend that. Peter Robinson | :09:32. | :09:36.
has been front and centre in this debate and told the parties that | :09:37. | :09:39.
there were hundreds of elements to the house proposals that need to be | :09:40. | :09:45.
examined. The first job of that panel is to sit down, go through the | :09:46. | :09:51.
340 elements of agreement contained in the proposals, and determine | :09:52. | :09:54.
whether they agree with those elements, to see how many of those | :09:55. | :10:00.
elements are shared by all of the five parties and can be acted upon. | :10:01. | :10:06.
What do you think is likely to come out of this debate? It is hard to | :10:07. | :10:12.
predict because there is this in -- the Sinn Fein and motion and | :10:13. | :10:16.
amendments. Unionists could add boat the Nationalists but much will | :10:17. | :10:21.
depend on what Alliance does. What do you think happens next? Never at | :10:22. | :10:28.
Cork tomorrow with the party leaders at the request of Peter Robinson and | :10:29. | :10:33.
Martin McGuinness has agreed to attend on behalf of his party. I | :10:34. | :10:37.
think tomorrow we will know better if Sinn Fein is willing to hang | :10:38. | :10:41.
around and pour over these proposals or if they will make clear they are | :10:42. | :10:46.
not prepared to renegotiate or give this a lot of time. It is | :10:47. | :10:51.
interesting that no parties have walked away from the table. | :10:52. | :10:58.
A man has been in court in Dublin, charged with the murder of a man who | :10:59. | :11:03.
was allegedly killed in a row over a game of chess. Thomas O'Gorman was | :11:04. | :11:06.
severely beaten and stabbed at his home in Castleknock. Our Dublin | :11:07. | :11:08.
correspondent Shane Harrison reports. This is the house in the | :11:09. | :11:11.
well-to-do area of Castleknock in West Dublin that 39-year-old Tom | :11:12. | :11:14.
O'Gorman owned, and where he died after being stabbed. This afternoon | :11:15. | :11:19.
there were flowers left outside in his memory. He was a former | :11:20. | :11:24.
journalist and religious writer, and was employed as a researcher by the | :11:25. | :11:28.
Catholic think tank The Iona Institute. At the time of the | :11:29. | :11:34.
killing he was at home with his Italian tenant, Saverio Bellante, | :11:35. | :11:36.
who's originally from Palermo in Sicily. It's understood the two men | :11:37. | :11:44.
had been playing chess in the early hours of yesterday morning when a | :11:45. | :11:47.
row broke out. After finding the body, gardai said some of the | :11:48. | :11:50.
details of the death and the circumstances surrounding the | :11:51. | :11:53.
killing were too horrific to release. This morning the Italian | :11:54. | :11:58.
tenant was taken to Blanchardstown District Court, where he was charged | :11:59. | :12:06.
with murder. Detectives told the court that when he was arrested he | :12:07. | :12:09.
said he was guilty. Saverio Bellante appeared in court wearing a black | :12:10. | :12:12.
sweater, black trousers and grey runners. Speaking with a strong | :12:13. | :12:17.
Italian accent, he said he wanted to represent himself and declined an | :12:18. | :12:22.
offer of legal representation. He was remanded in custody for four | :12:23. | :12:26.
days. During that period, he will undergo a medical assessment. | :12:27. | :12:35.
You're watching BBC Newsline, and still ahead before 7pm: Action from | :12:36. | :12:40.
the fifth round of the Irish Cup. The holders Glentoran are delighted | :12:41. | :12:52.
to make it through to the last 16. The police say they attended 42 | :12:53. | :12:56.
collisions on the roads this morning between 6am and 9am. The Regional | :12:57. | :12:58.
Development Minister Danny Kennedy says it's clear several roads should | :12:59. | :13:02.
have been gritted last night, and that it should be an issue of public | :13:03. | :13:06.
safety and not resources. He has called for a review into the | :13:07. | :13:09.
decisions about whether to grit the roads. | :13:10. | :13:14.
An arson attack on a pigeon loft in Killyleagh has left the owner | :13:15. | :13:19.
baffled. He doesn't know who was behind it or why his birds were | :13:20. | :13:24.
destroyed. And it's the third time he has been targeted. As Mark | :13:25. | :13:27.
Simpson reports, the pigeon fancier is Clifford Healy, the father of the | :13:28. | :13:30.
former Northern Ireland footballer David Healy. In the Healy household, | :13:31. | :13:37.
football is number one, but for David's dad, Clifford, pigeons | :13:38. | :13:43.
aren't far behind. He keeps dozens of them near his home in Killyleagh, | :13:44. | :13:47.
but at the weekend one of the sheds was set on fire. This used to be a | :13:48. | :13:58.
shared and it's left here in a mess now. The wee pigeons are gone. I | :13:59. | :14:05.
don't know what to think about the situation. It is an absolute mess. | :14:06. | :14:14.
Has this happened before? May shed has been attacked three times in the | :14:15. | :14:19.
last 20 years. One time before there were 18 mutilated, another time they | :14:20. | :14:26.
were poisoned. I had plenty of help with friends, we got on with it. Do | :14:27. | :14:31.
you think it is because you are David Healy's dad? I sincerely hope | :14:32. | :14:38.
not. I don't even see why that should be brought into things. If | :14:39. | :14:44.
you don't like David, tough, get on with life. You don't have to resort | :14:45. | :14:46.
to this. 20 birds were killed in the weekend | :14:47. | :14:53.
fire. The family say they don't know what's behind the attacks, they just | :14:54. | :14:59.
want them to stop. Absolutely gutted for my dad and the birds, but for my | :15:00. | :15:06.
dad because this is my dad's life. From when I was in low-wage, when we | :15:07. | :15:12.
lived on the other end of the estate, the sheds were in the | :15:13. | :15:15.
garden. They have just been my dad 's life. There have been many happy | :15:16. | :15:21.
times in the Healy household over the years. It has been a difficult | :15:22. | :15:33.
weekend for Clifford and his family, but he says the art focusing on the | :15:34. | :15:39.
positive. -- they are focusing. A school in County Tyrone wants to | :15:40. | :15:42.
ensure its pupils have a level playing field when it comes to | :15:43. | :15:46.
Gaelic games. And they have turned to Lord's for help - not divine | :15:47. | :15:49.
intervention, but the home of cricket in London. Our south-west | :15:50. | :15:52.
reporter Julian Fowler joined its groundsman for the pitch inspection. | :15:53. | :15:56.
What annoys me with people, they say it's just a bit of grass. It's not, | :15:57. | :16:00.
it's a playing surface, and that is what it is all about. Michael Hunt | :16:01. | :16:05.
has been a groundsman at Lord's for 44 years, so he knows a thing or two | :16:06. | :16:09.
about grass, but this is the first time he's set foot on a Gaelic | :16:10. | :16:21.
pitch. There is no clover, no weeds. Not bad for amateurs! His wife is | :16:22. | :16:26.
from Armagh, and a recent visit brought him to see an old friend - | :16:27. | :16:30.
the principal of St Joseph's Grammar School in Donaghmore. I lived and | :16:31. | :16:34.
taught in London for years and I went to Lourdes and met Michael, the | :16:35. | :16:43.
head groundsman and he talked to someone who knew nothing about | :16:44. | :16:47.
cricket and he brought me into what. Is there much cricket played around | :16:48. | :16:54.
here? Not much cricket. We are too busy playing Gaelic football, | :16:55. | :16:58.
hurling, rugby. So not much cricket, then, but that has its advantages. | :16:59. | :17:06.
That's the biggest problem, everyone running around, so I'm working and | :17:07. | :17:12.
then they start running around. Without the Lord's budget for grass | :17:13. | :17:15.
seed, it's a hard job for the grounds staff at Donaghmore. The | :17:16. | :17:20.
weather is a bigger thing from here then in London. You have frost, | :17:21. | :17:27.
rain, the usual at you don't really get a good summer here. The grass | :17:28. | :17:31.
may always be greener elsewhere, but having the right pitch is important | :17:32. | :17:37.
to sporting success. The best will come out of players if they are | :17:38. | :17:41.
playing on a good surface, whether it is an individual or a team. We | :17:42. | :17:45.
may be a long way from Lord's, but for the pupils of this school, these | :17:46. | :17:49.
playing fields are where their sporting dreams are made. | :17:50. | :17:56.
It's only Monday, but already everyone connected with Ulster Rugby | :17:57. | :17:59.
is looking forward to Saturday's crunch game with Leicester Tigers in | :18:00. | :18:06.
the European Cup. Tell us what is happening. Ulster defeated | :18:07. | :18:13.
Montpellier last Friday to maintain their 100% record in the | :18:14. | :18:16.
competition, five games from five, and this weekend the way to | :18:17. | :18:24.
Leicester. They can aboard avoid -- they can avoid defeat. A draw would | :18:25. | :18:31.
take them to a home quarterfinal it would be their fourth quarterfinal | :18:32. | :18:38.
in Europe but at this point in Twickenham last year it was | :18:39. | :18:42.
Saracens. It is all about home advantage and if they win against | :18:43. | :18:48.
Leicester, hopefully at Ravenhill it would be an advantage. | :18:49. | :18:54.
They've won more league titles and played in more Heineken Cups than | :18:55. | :18:57.
any other English side. Leicester Tigers, England's most successful | :18:58. | :19:00.
club of the professional era. In order for Ulster to achieve a home | :19:01. | :19:03.
quarterfinal in Europe, they must defeat the Tigers on Satuday - a | :19:04. | :19:06.
Leicester side whose recent form has been average. They are starting to | :19:07. | :19:16.
get some players back, so the fact is that they maybe aren't on top of | :19:17. | :19:19.
their game in some performances but they know they are hard to beat at | :19:20. | :19:25.
home. They have a programme caught, so it will be a challenge, but one | :19:26. | :19:32.
we are looking for two. -- forward two. Craig Gilroy remains a doubt | :19:33. | :19:36.
after suffering a broken nose, but Mark Anscombe is hopeful he will | :19:37. | :19:39.
make the trip to England. He didn't rule out the injured Tommy Bowe | :19:40. | :19:42.
making this weekend's squad, but conceded it would be unlikely. | :19:43. | :19:45.
Ulster are already into the last eight, but are they good enough to | :19:46. | :19:52.
win it? The quarterfinals are not all April and then the semifinals at | :19:53. | :19:58.
another two weeks after that, so if we get everyone on deck and we are | :19:59. | :20:04.
fit, we are confident in our game and we don't have to be scared of | :20:05. | :20:07.
playing anyone. And confidence will be sky high, if Ulster can inflict a | :20:08. | :20:11.
rare European defeat on the Leicester Tigers. | :20:12. | :20:19.
To football, and there were no real shocks in the fifth round of the | :20:20. | :20:25.
Irish cup. Five games went to a replay, but holders Glentoran safely | :20:26. | :20:28.
booked their place in the last 16 with a win over Portadown in the tie | :20:29. | :20:34.
of the round. After signing for the club in the transfer window, it | :20:35. | :20:38.
didn't take long for Curtis Allen to make an impact in a Glentoran shirt. | :20:39. | :20:48.
His two debut goals were the difference as he announced his | :20:49. | :20:52.
return to the Irish League in style. We want to retain it like anyone | :20:53. | :20:55.
would, and it is matches like this you have to win. If you're going to | :20:56. | :21:00.
win the Irish cup you have to beat the best teams, and for myself it | :21:01. | :21:06.
was a fantastic deadly, and for the team is a brilliant day. Linfield | :21:07. | :21:12.
were comphrensive winners against Dergview. David Jeffreys side hit | :21:13. | :21:28.
five goals at Windsor Park to set up a clash with either Ballymena n the | :21:29. | :21:34.
next round. They are playing well, even against Holland and will | :21:35. | :21:38.
welders -- and whoever it is next, they are doing well. One of the | :21:39. | :21:54.
Irish leagues best players over the last decade, Stephen Carson, was | :21:55. | :21:58.
given a guard of honour as he made his final appearance for Coleraine | :21:59. | :22:01.
before moving to America to take up a coaching position. Twice his side | :22:02. | :22:04.
went behind against Cliftonville, but on both occasions Coleraine | :22:05. | :22:07.
equalised. Crumlin Star pushed Crusaders all the way at Seaview. | :22:08. | :22:11.
Stephen Brown brought the junior club level. But former Northern | :22:12. | :22:21.
Ireland Andy Smith scored his first goal for Stephen Baxter's side to | :22:22. | :22:28.
send them through. One of Smith's previous clubs had the biggest win | :22:29. | :22:31.
of the weekend, as they defeated Sport and Leisure Swifts 7-0. The | :22:32. | :22:42.
bill Gaelic football and Holders Tyrone made it two wins from two in | :22:43. | :22:46.
the Power NI McKenna Cup as they defeated Queens University to all | :22:47. | :22:49.
but book their place in the semi finals. -- Derry remain unbeaten, as | :22:50. | :22:57.
they were victorious over Fermanagh. Winning by two goals and four points | :22:58. | :23:01.
to 1-11. Derry manager Brian McIver released squad member Chrissy | :23:02. | :23:03.
McKaigue to play for Jordanstown in their game against Antrim at the | :23:04. | :23:07.
weekend, and said he's keen to see members of his panel getting | :23:08. | :23:10.
game-time at this early stage of the season, whether it's for college or | :23:11. | :23:13.
county. University is a first call. We have gone with the spirit of the | :23:14. | :23:16.
competition and I have no problem with the lads playing universities. | :23:17. | :23:18.
I would hate to see the universities be lost to this competition. I think | :23:19. | :23:21.
it has revived the thing over whatever number of years it has been | :23:22. | :23:25.
running, and I think they are treated very poorly. The Belfast | :23:26. | :23:34.
Giants extended their lead at the top of the Elite League to 13 points | :23:35. | :23:38.
with two high-scoring wins against the Cardiff Devils at the weekend. | :23:39. | :23:41.
On Saturday they beat the Welsh side 7-2 at the Odyssey in front of just | :23:42. | :23:45.
under 5000 fans, their biggest attendance this season. And last | :23:46. | :23:48.
night they had their biggest win of the campaign so far, when they | :23:49. | :23:52.
thrashed the Devils 11-4 in Cardiff. Finally tonight, Kelly Gallagher, | :23:53. | :23:54.
the visually impaired skier we featured here on BBC Newsline last | :23:55. | :23:58.
week, has won a gold medal at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup in | :23:59. | :24:01.
Panorama in Canada. With her guide Charlotte Evans, they comfortably | :24:02. | :24:04.
beat the Russian world champions, which bodes well for next month's | :24:05. | :24:11.
winter Olympics in Sochi. That's your sport tonight. | :24:12. | :24:16.
It seems the strong winds we've had recently have brought over a | :24:17. | :24:19.
feathered friend who's more used to the warmer climate of California. | :24:20. | :24:26.
These pictures were taken by some viewers of a blue phase Snow Goose | :24:27. | :24:33.
spotted in large at the weekend. It is a rare Goose bred in Canada and | :24:34. | :24:37.
usually used to warmer weather. What is that like? I can see you have an | :24:38. | :24:43.
icy ball behind you. It has been cold today but will it get warmer | :24:44. | :24:49.
for our feathered friend? I think he will regret not going to | :24:50. | :24:54.
California. It will be a chilly night and temperatures a short time | :24:55. | :24:59.
ago already at one degree and they will lower than that. | :25:00. | :25:02.
night and temperatures a short time ago already at one degree and The | :25:03. | :25:05.
Met Office has issued a weather warning for icy conditions this | :25:06. | :25:08.
evening and into tomorrow, some treacherous driving conditions, | :25:09. | :25:13.
something to bear in mind if you are out. There will also be the odd | :25:14. | :25:19.
pocket of fog developing and some of that will be thick so it could cause | :25:20. | :25:23.
visibility issues. Towns and cities could drop to -2 but in the | :25:24. | :25:27.
countryside it will be lower than that, maybe even -5 in parts of | :25:28. | :25:34.
County Down. It will be a chilly start tomorrow, a dry start but rain | :25:35. | :25:41.
will push in from the Atlantic, courtesy of this area of low | :25:42. | :25:45.
pressure moving towards us. The isobars are tightening so it will be | :25:46. | :25:48.
windy tomorrow when that rain moves in. To begin there will be plenty of | :25:49. | :25:54.
dry weather, chilly and it will take a while for the pod to left. The | :25:55. | :25:59.
best bright weather will be in the east but this rain will push in from | :26:00. | :26:03.
the west, some will be heavy and over high ground we could see films | :26:04. | :26:09.
lead and snow. Winds gusting at times and temperatures of five or | :26:10. | :26:13.
six degrees will feel colder, so due may want to keep waterproof Sunday. | :26:14. | :26:19.
Towards the evening, rain will ease but there will be further showers | :26:20. | :26:22.
and spells of rain behind tomorrow evening, but with more cloud it | :26:23. | :26:27.
won't be as chilly tomorrow night. Temperatures will typically fall to | :26:28. | :26:33.
three degrees with further outbreaks of rain to come. Some of that rain | :26:34. | :26:37.
will linger into Wednesday so for some of us it will be a wet start, | :26:38. | :26:42.
but it should brighten up towards the afternoon, more sunshine, and | :26:43. | :26:47.
temperatures will be up, maybe 10 degrees, just above average for the | :26:48. | :26:54.
time of year so not too bad. The low pressure system will control the | :26:55. | :26:57.
weather through the week, so for a Thursday and Friday there will be | :26:58. | :27:01.
further spells of rain, some scattered showers and breezy | :27:02. | :27:04.
conditions but not all the time. There will be bright and sunny | :27:05. | :27:09.
weather. Try to follow us on Twitter if you can and we will keep you up | :27:10. | :27:16.
to date. The biggest ever UK inquiry into | :27:17. | :27:20.
institutional child abuse has opened in brown bread, and four men | :27:21. | :27:25.
arrested in connection with a dissident republican -- near Goma | :27:26. | :27:28.
