A woman has been attacked with a hammer in South Belfast.

It happened outside a restaurant on the Lisburn Road

A man tried to steal the woman's handbag,

and when she refused to hand it over he hit her with a hammer.

He then ran off along Lower Windsor Avenue.

The woman suffered bruising to her arm and was left badly shaken.

Two Belfast men have been in court charged in connection

A 14-year-old boy was assaulted during the break-in at a house

on the Ardoyne Road where a car, an iPad and Playstation

31-year-old year old John Paul Sell from Harrington Court

and Emmanuel James Smyth, who's 30 and from Bleach Green,

also face drug and dangerous driving charges.

A 25-year-old Irish woman has been charged with murder

following the death of a 29-year-old man, also from Ireland,

The man was found with a stab wound to his neck, after a fight

at a house in Padstow on the outskirts of the city.

A 36-year-old man was also arrested.

A French naval ship has arrived in Belfast to restock and prepare

for redeployment in European waters. It's arrival comes just a day

after the minesweeper naval ship HMS Hurworth docked in the city.

The ship has just returned from a mission in the Arabian Gulf,

and its crew will spend the weekend getting ready for its next task.

The controversial Schools' Cup rugby quarter-final,

that was due to take place today between Friends School in Lisburn

and Belfast Royal Academy, has been awarded to the north

Friends was unable to field a team because most of the players

There were failed attempts to get the match rescheduled,

but today the Lisburn school said that since it was unable to safely

field a full team it accepts that BRA will progress to the next round.

The game's authorities say by accepting the decision not

to reschedule the game, Friends has forfeited

Rugby now, and in the Pro 12 clash at the Kingspan Stadium this

afternoon, Ulster rugby defeated Glasgow warriors.

Moving to pastures new in the summer, today was Pinaar's first

appearance for Ulster rugby in 2017. He will be sadly missed when he

goes. Someone who is staying in Belfast is this man. After 64 career

tries this afternoon it became 65. Another delicate pass and another

try for Ulster rugby. Ulster ahead 15-0. Brandon Thomson was playing

rugby in South Africa a few weeks ago. Today he was in Belfast and

brought Glasgow back into the game. 15-5 at halftime. Ulster knew how

important the win was today. So too Jacob StockDale. He scored a fifth

career try. Ulster turned defence into attack, it was the spring

bobbing who ended up going over the line. -- spring bok who ended up

going over the line. It was a dull and wet

start to the day. So will we see any improvement

for the rest of the weekend? Hello, good evening. We may not have

had bundles of blue sky today. It tried to brighten up in places and

it's mild for the time of year. It's been drying up this afternoon as

well. A dry evening to come. Still breezy towards the north coast. Very

gradually that breeze will be easing its way down through the night. The

cloud is going to be closing in once again. It's likely to bring bits and

pieces of rain and drizzle. Still a lot of dry weather. But becoming

misty and murky in places particularly to the west, over

coasts and hills. A mild night though, temperatures no lower than

seven or eight degrees. Into tomorrow, eventually we will see

rain moving in. Not until later in the day. For a good part of the day,

it is mainly dry. It's also mild, but pretty cloudy. In fact, during

the morning, we're likely to find the mist and murk becomes more

widespread for a time, sitting on the hills and around the coasts. One

or t visibility -- one or two visibility issues. Not so much mist

and murk across Scotland, England and Wales. A good deal of cloud

here. There will be breaks in sheltered Eastern areas. Here too

it's pretty mild. Temperatures 13 or 14 degrees. As the day wears on, we

get wet weather into the north-west of Scotland. Breezy here as well. It

will turn wetter out towards the west of Ireland and into Northern

Ireland as well. Late particularly across parts of the north and the

west. The east probably staying dry until the evening. Misty, murky,

damp afternoon eventually for some, the breeze picking up as well. It is

still mild, temperatures up to 11, 12, possibly even 13 degrees. We

hang onto the relatively mild air as we head into the start of next week.

It's not until we get a bit a change on Tuesday night that we get

slightly fresher air moving in from the west around the middle of the

week. Until then, cloudy, breezy, some rain, the best of any drier

spells towards the east. Then we get a batch of rain on Tuesday night.

Turning fresher into Wednesday. After that, windy.
