Welcome to BBC Points West on the day the West Country got a soaking. | :00:07. | :00:11.
I'm in the centre of Bristol where the River Avon burst its banks for | :00:12. | :00:17.
the first time in years. It happened at high tide causing | :00:18. | :00:20.
this spectacular splash in the harbour but the defences held. | :00:21. | :00:29.
It is incredible, I have never seen anything quite like it. In Somerset | :00:30. | :00:32.
the coastline took a battering as the tide rose by 14 metres with | :00:33. | :00:39.
waves crashing into the front. One of the highest tides of the year | :00:40. | :00:43.
is what is causing this. But bad though it has been for some people | :00:44. | :00:49.
it could be a whole lot worse if the winds had been stronger and in a | :00:50. | :00:50.
different direction. In other news tonight, unions fear | :00:51. | :01:00.
jobs could be at risk as a major aircraft deals collapses. | :01:01. | :01:04.
And the Somerset volleyball player competing at the sport's highest | :01:05. | :01:05.
level. Hello. The West Country held its | :01:06. | :01:19.
breath this morning as high tides, wind and rain combined to create a | :01:20. | :01:25.
perfect storm. The Environment Agency had warned that in some | :01:26. | :01:29.
places there was a risk to life and property but events turned out to | :01:30. | :01:36.
slightly kinder than feared. Some properties in Somerset and | :01:37. | :01:38.
Gloucestershire were flooded but here in Bristol a new defence system | :01:39. | :01:45.
held. We have reports from across the West Country, but first this | :01:46. | :01:49.
from Scott Ellis who on this spot at dawn. | :01:50. | :02:00.
Bristol, at 8am, then, against a rising River Avon. The tide is about | :02:01. | :02:11.
30 minutes away from the critical point. As you can see over there it | :02:12. | :02:15.
is already overlapping the cycle path. It will be very close indeed. | :02:16. | :02:21.
The city deployed its flood barrier for the first time. Without it, | :02:22. | :02:25.
houses close to the Avon would flood. It is quite worrying, | :02:26. | :02:30.
obviously we have prepared our houses as much as we can, we are | :02:31. | :02:35.
glad we have got this defensive Obviously it is quite scary. It | :02:36. | :02:38.
looks quite dramatic if you live here. Quite worrying. Half an hour | :02:39. | :02:44.
later roads had to be closed, as the incoming tide raised the River Avon | :02:45. | :02:50.
to its highest levels for 15 years. In the Cumberland basin water | :02:51. | :02:55.
spilled back into the floating Harbour. | :02:56. | :02:59.
I have been in Bristol nearly 2 years and I don't think I have ever | :03:00. | :03:03.
seen anything like it. To think that is stopping the water coming into | :03:04. | :03:09.
the Bristol docks is incredible The flood barrier did its job, | :03:10. | :03:13.
saving homes from floods. They will stay in place over the weekend. As | :03:14. | :03:20.
the tide receded a sigh of relief. And in Weston`super`Mare the clear | :03:21. | :03:26.
up of wood, rubbish and seaweed washed in on the morning tide | :03:27. | :03:31.
height. I am just amazed, never seen anything like it. It is crazy. Have | :03:32. | :03:40.
you found anything valuable? Not yet. | :03:41. | :03:48.
The seafront road in Weston`super`Mare had to close for | :03:49. | :03:52.
about an hour but here, as in Bristol, no serious flooding damage. | :03:53. | :03:56.
But there is more high tides, wind and rain to come. | :03:57. | :04:04.
There certainly is more high tides to come. We will be talking about | :04:05. | :04:08.
that a bit later. Flooding in Bristol is very rare and | :04:09. | :04:12.
that's because a lot of work has been done to improve defences. Take | :04:13. | :04:15.
a look at these pictures from 1 68, some of the worst flooding in the | :04:16. | :04:21.
city's history. If you are a Bristolian then you might remember | :04:22. | :04:24.
the night the Avon flooded large parts of the South, some people were | :04:25. | :04:27.
killed, and many homes were evacuated. Because of that, the | :04:28. | :04:33.
river Frome was re`routed through a tunnel under the city, and it now | :04:34. | :04:44.
rarely floods. I'm joined by Simon Creed, who is in charge of civil | :04:45. | :04:47.
protection in Bristol, it's his job to keep us safe. We saw something | :04:48. | :04:54.
going on on the docks, but by and large were you pleased with the way | :04:55. | :04:58.
things worked out? Yes, the predictions of what we had | :04:59. | :05:02.
received, it was spot on. We were able to manage the water quite well. | :05:03. | :05:07.
How close were we to having something worse? | :05:08. | :05:15.
If there have been another half a metre that would have caused us | :05:16. | :05:17.
problems but we didn't get that That is due to the tidal surge | :05:18. | :05:22.
caused by the Atlantic storms and a low pressure. We were saved by that. | :05:23. | :05:27.
Any more than that, it would have pushed our resources and our | :05:28. | :05:29.
defences. We saw you deployed your latest | :05:30. | :05:34.
weapon in Bristol 's flood defences for top looks a bit Heath Robinson | :05:35. | :05:37.
to be honest but it worked this barrier. It is a Swedish design not | :05:38. | :05:47.
many local authorities have it. We got it to protect Broadmead before | :05:48. | :05:50.
Cabot Circus was built up defences have improved in that area and we | :05:51. | :05:54.
have had no need to use it up we train our volunteer: Staff to direct | :05:55. | :05:59.
it and we have been raring to go to test it. | :06:00. | :06:04.
What happens next last remark `` what happens next? | :06:05. | :06:09.
We are on stand`by for the high tide tonight and tomorrow morning. We | :06:10. | :06:13.
will watch the water closely. We have various members of the team out | :06:14. | :06:19.
location and they will report back in. The predictions are low at this | :06:20. | :06:24.
evening and tomorrow. From Sunday onwards there will the some severe | :06:25. | :06:30.
low pressure in the Atlantic Ocean storms brewing, and we could see | :06:31. | :06:35.
more on Sunday, Monday morning. Thank you very much indeed for | :06:36. | :06:39.
coming out and talking to us on this cold and wet night in Bristol. | :06:40. | :06:42.
Let's go to Gloucestershire now where the Environment Agency issued | :06:43. | :06:44.
three severe flood warnings, that the highest category and means that | :06:45. | :06:59.
lives could be at risk. In the event, nobody was hurt, but there | :07:00. | :07:02.
were some properties flooded when the River Severn burst its banks. | :07:03. | :07:05.
Steve Knibbs reports. The famous Severn Bore made a slow | :07:06. | :07:09.
approach but with the river already very swollen the tidal surge hit | :07:10. | :07:21.
hard. What is staggering is how quickly the river has risen. It came | :07:22. | :07:25.
in at around 9:20am, just over an hour later and it is at least ten | :07:26. | :07:34.
foot above where it should be and it is still expected to peak in 15 | :07:35. | :07:36.
minutes. Within minutes the water broke over the river bank, this | :07:37. | :07:40.
force of nature finding a way through wherever it could. | :07:41. | :07:42.
Minsterworth was on a severe flood warning and people had done what | :07:43. | :07:46.
they could to protect their homes but for some it wasn't enough. There | :07:47. | :07:51.
are two levels in the house, it was about 18 inches in one part. It came | :07:52. | :08:00.
in at quite a speed. It did, it was really flowing over there, quite | :08:01. | :08:03.
something, it really was a tide coming over the bank. | :08:04. | :08:06.
For others they were just high enough to escape. We had warning it | :08:07. | :08:12.
was going to, very high so we thought we will do what we can to | :08:13. | :08:15.
keep the upper house. At the Severn Bore Inn, usually a | :08:16. | :08:18.
spot to see the bore, the carpets and furniture had been taken up in | :08:19. | :08:24.
readiness, the water came close Worrying, we got our sandbags ready | :08:25. | :08:28.
just in case, never seen anything like this before. | :08:29. | :08:31.
As the bore moved on the coastguard moved along the stretch of the river | :08:32. | :08:34.
checking that no`one had been trapped or injured. People are | :08:35. | :08:38.
responding very well to the warnings. People are responding well | :08:39. | :08:43.
to Avril requests to move back from the water which is very fast`moving. | :08:44. | :08:47.
As fast as the water arrived it quickly went away in most areas but | :08:48. | :08:50.
another bore is due tonight and tomorrow morning, albeit not as big. | :08:51. | :08:56.
We are keeping a close eye on it. Our immediate concern is making sure | :08:57. | :08:59.
flood defences haven't been damaged by this morning 's surge that we are | :09:00. | :09:04.
out having a look. We will watch the search tonight. It looks like it | :09:05. | :09:08.
should be slightly lower but it will be a big tide. | :09:09. | :09:10.
Tonight flood warnings are still in place, the advice to stay vigilant | :09:11. | :09:13.
ahead of more bad weather expected this weekend. All eyes this morning | :09:14. | :09:20.
were on the Somerset coast which was very much in the front line. The | :09:21. | :09:24.
worry was that a surge in the tide whipped up by a storm would cause a | :09:25. | :09:31.
lot of damage. In the event most of the problems in Somerset are inland | :09:32. | :09:35.
with many animals being rescued by the RSPCA. Here's Clinton Rogers. | :09:36. | :09:42.
They knew it was coming. A tidal force strong enough to lift drain | :09:43. | :09:51.
covers in Watchet. One of the highest tides of the year | :09:52. | :09:55.
is what is causing this. But that though it has been for some people | :09:56. | :10:00.
it could have been a whole lot worse had the winds been stronger and in a | :10:01. | :10:02.
different direction. But when you have an angry sea on | :10:03. | :10:06.
one side of your house and a raging river on the other the result is | :10:07. | :10:12.
inevitable. When did the water coming? When the | :10:13. | :10:20.
tide rose this morning. What Amazon? I wasn't too sure, I wasn't | :10:21. | :10:24.
awake. They closed roads around 6:30am, an hour before high tide. | :10:25. | :10:32.
But some were still determined to get close enough for that one | :10:33. | :10:35.
picture. Inland on the Somerset Levels the picture was getting | :10:36. | :10:38.
desperate for one farmer whose farm, was quickly becoming an island. | :10:39. | :10:45.
50 cattle, three horses, 30 sheep. How worried are you? Very. | :10:46. | :10:50.
The RSPCA were called in to help rescue his animals who were | :10:51. | :10:56.
virtually marooned. And as the flood waters continued to rise in the end | :10:57. | :11:00.
they needed a boat to take the pet dogs to safe dry land. I don't want | :11:01. | :11:10.
to be separated from them. This is the second time now. We didn't | :11:11. | :11:15.
expect it to happen again. It has. Nature was certainly showing its | :11:16. | :11:18.
angry hand today, at Muchelney on the Levels it was hailstones nearly | :11:19. | :11:28.
the size of golf balls. There is more rain on the way this weekend. | :11:29. | :11:36.
Where will the water go? If you have been affected our hearts go out to | :11:37. | :11:41.
you because it is wet and miserable. I will be back later in | :11:42. | :11:45.
the programme to look at the prospects for later tonight at the | :11:46. | :11:49.
weekend. Thanks, David. It really has been an | :11:50. | :11:52.
extraordinary day with several weather systems coinciding to cause | :11:53. | :11:56.
the high water levels we've seen. Ian is here, Ian, lots of our | :11:57. | :12:00.
viewers have been sending you their pictures of the flooding across the | :12:01. | :12:03.
region, talk us through some of them. | :12:04. | :12:09.
Twitter was alive with some extraordinary images through the | :12:10. | :12:14.
course of this morning. This first one speaks for itself at | :12:15. | :12:20.
Weston`super`Mare, as the water was topping the coastline, pretty | :12:21. | :12:26.
ferociously so. This shows how roughly powerful the sea was at that | :12:27. | :12:33.
point. Equally, down at Clevedon it was a similar story, anywhere where | :12:34. | :12:38.
you had these promenades we had the scenes unfolding. Come slightly | :12:39. | :12:42.
further inland, this next shot from uphill, this shows how the water was | :12:43. | :12:48.
pouring over into the lower lying adjacent areas causing the threat of | :12:49. | :12:52.
flooding. We saw similar pictures from the tidal stretches of our | :12:53. | :12:56.
rivers are the even, the Cumberland basin, it seems the people in | :12:57. | :12:59.
Bristol and wouldn't have seen for a long time. | :13:00. | :13:03.
In your experience, these pictures that you have seen for a long time? | :13:04. | :13:07.
In the six years I have been doing weather forecasting here we haven't | :13:08. | :13:10.
seen anything like this, big waves onto the shorelines, including in | :13:11. | :13:13.
the middle of summer last year, but nothing on this scale. It is worth | :13:14. | :13:18.
noting inland as we see here in Wiltshire river flooding continues | :13:19. | :13:23.
to be a problem and it will be for the course of the weekend and | :13:24. | :13:27.
beyond. Finally, also from Wiltshire and parts of Britain and the like we | :13:28. | :13:35.
have hails tones as big as golf balls, extremely rare in the middle | :13:36. | :13:42.
part of winter. There has been some unorthodox weather. | :13:43. | :13:43.
Keep sending us your pictures. More whether a bit later. | :13:44. | :13:56.
It's emerged that jobs at the Somerset helicopter maker | :13:57. | :13:58.
AgustaWestland could be under threat after the Indian government said it | :13:59. | :14:02.
wanted to cancel a half a billion pound contract with the company The | :14:03. | :14:05.
order for 12 luxury aircraft has been in the balance since | :14:06. | :14:08.
allegations surfaced last year that it may have been won through | :14:09. | :14:14.
bribery. The two sides are due to meet to try and resolve the issue. | :14:15. | :14:19.
Will Glennon reports from Yeovil. Workers back at AgustaWestland after | :14:20. | :14:22.
Christmas have heard it may not be such a happy new year. They've built | :14:23. | :14:31.
12 of these helicopters, the AW 01, for the Indian Government. Three | :14:32. | :14:44.
have already been delivered. The other nine are ready to go. They're | :14:45. | :14:48.
luxury transport for Heads of State. Total cost almost half a billion | :14:49. | :14:52.
pounds. But now the Indians want out. Disappointment and surprise. We | :14:53. | :14:54.
won the contract, we have to work to do, we did it on budget within | :14:55. | :14:57.
timescales lay down, had the delivery, then this has come out the | :14:58. | :15:02.
blue the contract. There is nothing more our members could have done. | :15:03. | :15:05.
The deal has been in question since last February when allegations | :15:06. | :15:07.
surfaced suggesting bribery. The Chief Executive of AgustaWestland's | :15:08. | :15:10.
Italian parent company was arrested over suggestions that a payment of | :15:11. | :15:13.
30 million euros had been made to the Indian defence ministry. | :15:14. | :15:19.
Allegations that've always been denied. For its part AgustaWestland | :15:20. | :15:25.
has issued a statement saying it doesn't think the Indian government | :15:26. | :15:28.
has any basis for cancelling the contract but it says it will take | :15:29. | :15:32.
part in an arbitration process, the company also says though it has a | :15:33. | :15:35.
mitigation plan in place should the contract be cancelled and it hasn't | :15:36. | :15:46.
ruled out job losses. The Italian company clearly hopes it | :15:47. | :15:52.
might win the argument at arbitration, it hopes even at this | :15:53. | :15:57.
stage the whole deal might still be salvaged, it stresses it is very | :15:58. | :16:02.
much ready to continue working with the Indian government if at all | :16:03. | :16:06.
possible it would like to go ahead and deliver those remaining | :16:07. | :16:08.
helicopters. Executives will now meet with Indian | :16:09. | :16:11.
officials and lawyers to try and sort out the deal. Meanwhile Yeovil | :16:12. | :16:15.
has to get on with a ?1 billion order won just before Christmas 16 | :16:16. | :16:23.
helicopters for Norway. Changes to recycling collections in | :16:24. | :16:27.
Swindon were approved by the Borough Council last night. It means that | :16:28. | :16:30.
anyone who wants green waste collected will have to pay ?40 a | :16:31. | :16:36.
year from April. It also means that the areas in the town which | :16:37. | :16:39.
currently have weekly recycling collections will now move to | :16:40. | :16:43.
fortnightly. Engineers say they've discovered a | :16:44. | :16:46.
number of faults that caused the Plimsoll Swing Bridge in Bristol to | :16:47. | :16:51.
seize up. The bridge jammed open two weeks ago, causing huge problems for | :16:52. | :16:57.
rush`hour traffic in the city. The council says a number of parts need | :16:58. | :17:01.
to be replaced and are currently being made. | :17:02. | :17:03.
Now sport, and the question for fans is whether their team's match will | :17:04. | :17:09.
be on or not. All of the New Year's Day football was wiped out by the | :17:10. | :17:12.
wet weather. Alistair Durden is here, are things looking any better | :17:13. | :17:17.
this weekend? Well we have our first casualty, Bristol Rovers FA Cup | :17:18. | :17:20.
replay at Crawley is off for the second time. You might remember it | :17:21. | :17:25.
was abandoned first time around with 15 minutes left to play because of a | :17:26. | :17:32.
waterlogged pitch. Last night's rain has left it saturated again, and so | :17:33. | :17:35.
that match has been rescheduled for next Wednesday. The two other FA Cup | :17:36. | :17:39.
ties are both on at the moment. Yeovil Town have covered their pitch | :17:40. | :17:43.
again today to protect it from further rain and the club say | :17:44. | :17:46.
they're confident the game with Leyton Orient will be on. The same | :17:47. | :17:50.
at Ashton Gate for Bristol City s home tie with Watford as they try to | :17:51. | :17:54.
reach the fourth round for the first time since 2007. | :17:55. | :18:03.
It will be a good Game four of, Watford have changed managers. I'm | :18:04. | :18:12.
not quite sure how they will treat this cup game. But clearly it is | :18:13. | :18:17.
more about how we treat it, we will be going into it with a positive | :18:18. | :18:20.
attitude, the players are confident, just had two good form and sees so | :18:21. | :18:27.
hopefully we can add to that ash to good performances. Cheltenham's | :18:28. | :18:30.
league game at home to Chesterfield is still on but there's more heavy | :18:31. | :18:33.
rain forecast for early tomorrow morning. The rugby clubs are more | :18:34. | :18:35.
confident, Gloucester's pitch has been covered since New Years Eve, | :18:36. | :18:38.
they play leaders Saracens tomorrow. And Bath are away to Leicester on | :18:39. | :18:42.
Sunday, with no plans for an inspection at the moment. | :18:43. | :18:45.
A lot of non`league games are off, and some hit worse than others by | :18:46. | :18:50.
the sounds of it, haven't they? I don't think they'll be playing at | :18:51. | :18:52.
Malmesbury. Somewhere under there is a football | :18:53. | :19:03.
pitch. I think that is what they called the three the back formation. | :19:04. | :19:07.
The obvious advice is if you think you are going to a game please ring | :19:08. | :19:12.
the club beforehand to make sure it is going ahead. Let's take you | :19:13. | :19:18.
somewhere much warmer and drier A Somerset volleyball player has | :19:19. | :19:21.
become the first British woman to compete in one of her sport's | :19:22. | :19:24.
biggest competitions. Ciara Michel has just finished her first season | :19:25. | :19:27.
in Italy, playing in the European Champions League. Her success comes | :19:28. | :19:30.
despite the British team being folded after the London Olympics. | :19:31. | :19:35.
Ollie Williams has been to meet her. Welcome to the home of British | :19:36. | :19:39.
volleyball, which doesn't look massively British, because it isn't. | :19:40. | :19:45.
This is my balcony, you can see the beautiful city. This is Italy, one | :19:46. | :19:55.
of the few British pro players left after the sister scenes at London | :19:56. | :20:00.
2012. Within months of winning an Olympic game for the first time the | :20:01. | :20:04.
British team was shutdown. The team was disbanded, there is no longer a | :20:05. | :20:11.
GB women's volleyball team, just a group of fronts now, and most of the | :20:12. | :20:20.
players have retired. This is my GB flag, it goes everywhere. At six | :20:21. | :20:26.
foot five she has signed up as a middle blocker for the team in this | :20:27. | :20:29.
town near Milan stop they play in the Champions League, which is one | :20:30. | :20:32.
of the top competitions in the world. She grew up in Somerset | :20:33. | :20:37.
before learning her volleyball in Miami and Australia is the first | :20:38. | :20:39.
British player ever to reach this level. | :20:40. | :20:44.
There is a real passionate fan base, it is a really similar atmosphere to | :20:45. | :20:50.
London 2012 weather home crowd was ecstatic to be there. | :20:51. | :20:54.
Now there is no Team GB to aim for players like are tucked away in | :20:55. | :20:59.
Italy are almost all that is left to inspire British children to drive | :21:00. | :21:02.
volleyball. Grant that many outlets for playing volleyball in England. | :21:03. | :21:07.
The exposure of other sports that much greater so kids don't | :21:08. | :21:12.
necessarily know this is an opportunity, something to strive | :21:13. | :21:18.
for. I remember reading" before London 2012, I rated it down to my | :21:19. | :21:21.
notebook and try to read it every day, every member of Team GB has the | :21:22. | :21:27.
responsibility to inspire a nation. And I really would like to think | :21:28. | :21:35.
that I can inspire kids. I feel inspired to get on a plane | :21:36. | :21:44.
and head out to Italy. Before would go back to David, just | :21:45. | :21:47.
a reminder of a programme coming up this weekend. | :21:48. | :21:48.
The West Country nature enthusiast and television presenter Mike Dilger | :21:49. | :21:51.
has been retracing the first ever exploration of the Colorado River as | :21:52. | :21:55.
it runs through the Grand Canyon in the USA. Mike was joined by | :21:56. | :21:58.
historian Dan Snow for the hair`raising trip, and you can see | :21:59. | :22:02.
how the team got on during a new show being screened this weekend on | :22:03. | :22:11.
BBC Two. Hang on. Dan's boat takes a big hit. It is ruined. If this was a | :22:12. | :22:22.
fibreglass boat it would not still be fretting, I don't think. It would | :22:23. | :22:26.
have wrapped around rock. Operation Grand Canyon with Dan Snow | :22:27. | :22:35.
is on this Sunday at 9pm. Now, for the all`important forecast. | :22:36. | :22:40.
Hopefully the worst conditions are over in terms of the threat of the | :22:41. | :22:49.
coastal flooding. As you have been hearing earlier or I'd run later | :22:50. | :22:54.
this evening with another high tide, and again it will be perilously | :22:55. | :22:59.
close in some cases to being troublesome. As we head into | :23:00. | :23:04.
tomorrow, some heavy rain for the first part of the day, there were | :23:05. | :23:07.
clear way to the North. The afternoon looks a lot better much | :23:08. | :23:15.
further heavy showers. After a call to start on Sunday with a decent | :23:16. | :23:21.
morning we wet face. It will continue windy on Monday. The Met | :23:22. | :23:29.
Office has a warning for continuing heavy showers. As we head into | :23:30. | :23:33.
tomorrow this next feature runs some further heavy rain northwards. | :23:34. | :23:38.
Better window through the afternoon, you can see further showers | :23:39. | :23:41.
returning on and off through the course of the late afternoon. This | :23:42. | :23:45.
feature is threatening more what is whether across South Wilts, Dorset. | :23:46. | :23:53.
`` more wet weather. There is a whether one out for Sunday. `` a | :23:54. | :24:00.
weather warning. The rainfall amounts have been toned down, most | :24:01. | :24:12.
places probably about ten millimetres but it is adding team | :24:13. | :24:17.
relatively sober warning continued but not desperately heavy amount of | :24:18. | :24:22.
rainfall. This is how things are looking for Sunday. After that dry, | :24:23. | :24:27.
chilly start. Familiar looking chart. The windy spell and a wet one | :24:28. | :24:37.
as well. Let's return to this evening, still some heavy showers. | :24:38. | :24:45.
Notable hail. They will fade away for a while into the course of the | :24:46. | :24:48.
night. We will see this next feature from the South West, some heavy | :24:49. | :24:56.
showery rain. Temperatures for all this will be typically between four | :24:57. | :25:02.
and six. Tomorrow a question of getting that early rain out of the | :25:03. | :25:05.
way. Here comes the window of more usable weather. Many of you will | :25:06. | :25:13.
have a dry afternoon. There is the sign of further showers coming | :25:14. | :25:15.
through, some of them could have some hill. It will be a bit of a | :25:16. | :25:20.
lottery whether you are seeing wet or dry prospects. Here is the return | :25:21. | :25:24.
of some more heavy rain into the extreme south. Temperatures are | :25:25. | :25:34.
little bit higher on Sunday. Thanks Ian. Well that's all from me in the | :25:35. | :25:37.
studio. Let's cross back live now to David | :25:38. | :25:43.
in the centre of Bristol for the latest news on the flooding. | :25:44. | :25:49.
It is perking up a little bit positively balmy here. This morning | :25:50. | :26:00.
they drained some of the water from the floating Harbour so at the high | :26:01. | :26:04.
tide came at the Raven, that spilled onto the road but came back into | :26:05. | :26:09.
this massive drain, reservoir, which prevented any properties round here | :26:10. | :26:15.
being damaged. The danger point was the high tide. There is another one | :26:16. | :26:18.
coming up shortly this evening. The one we are worried about is on | :26:19. | :26:23.
Sunday. That squash over to Gloucestershire and the environment | :26:24. | :26:29.
agent you. `` let's cross over to Gloucestershire. What one example is | :26:30. | :26:37.
tonight? `` what warnings are in place. The severe warning is still | :26:38. | :26:41.
in place. We are urging people to stay awake from the river. We will | :26:42. | :26:46.
have another surge coming up. It will not be quite as high as this | :26:47. | :26:50.
morning. With the wind and rain we could see some overtopping in areas. | :26:51. | :26:59.
What about the weekend? Coming into the weekend, it is going | :27:00. | :27:05.
to turn the other way, rather than title it will be fluvial. We have | :27:06. | :27:10.
got this water coming down Wales and Worcestershire towards us and with | :27:11. | :27:13.
the low pressure coming in that will cause more flood warnings and flood | :27:14. | :27:19.
alerts. We urge people to be aware, get onto the apartment agency's | :27:20. | :27:28.
website, it `` Environment Agency. I guess the thing is to stay alert | :27:29. | :27:35.
and it is not over until it is over. Exactly, it is not. We have got some | :27:36. | :27:40.
severe weather coming through, we know it will push flood warnings | :27:41. | :27:43.
back`up. The Met Office are working closely with us. | :27:44. | :27:48.
We have to stop you there, thank you very much | :27:49. | :27:49. |
