Welcome to Wales Today. Tonight's top stories: | :00:13. | :00:16.
John Morrison needs round the clock care from his parents, now respite | :00:16. | :00:22.
care that gives families a break is being cut. It is the light at the | :00:22. | :00:32.
:00:32. | :00:46. | ||
end of the tunnel and it is like Our other headlines tonight: John | :00:46. | :00:49.
Dickson will not be returning to his Lib Dem party. | :00:49. | :00:52.
The social worker accused of placing a teenager with a foster- | :00:52. | :00:54.
family whose two children he then abused. | :00:54. | :01:01.
A 14-year-old boy dies in the Towy River near Carmarthen. | :01:01. | :01:04.
The cattle have grazed the hills since pre-Christian times but there | :01:04. | :01:07.
is trouble at the top of the Welsh black society. | :01:07. | :01:09.
And cyclist Geraint Thomas retains the white jersey in the latest | :01:09. | :01:19.

stage of the Tour de France. Good evening. For many families it | :01:22. | :01:25.
is a lifeline that keeps them going but BBC Wales has discovered that | :01:25. | :01:28.
councils across the country have made cuts to respite support for | :01:28. | :01:36.
people with serious care needs and disabilities. Figures obtained | :01:36. | :01:38.
under the Freedom of Information Act show at least nine Welsh | :01:39. | :01:41.
councils have cut their respite budgets this year. The councils say | :01:41. | :01:45.
they are facing huge financial challenges. | :01:45. | :01:52.
Caring for John is a full time job. Cerebral palsy means he needs help | :01:52. | :02:02.
:02:02. | :02:02. | ||
with simple, everyday tasks. It is help his family are happy to | :02:02. | :02:05.
provide but they depend on short respite breaks to give them time to | :02:05. | :02:09.
recover. They would like more than the six weeks a year they have been | :02:09. | :02:12.
allocated but the local authority in Swansea is one of nine in Wales | :02:12. | :02:19.
cutting their respite budget. will have immediate impact on | :02:19. | :02:26.
families. You will battle on until you get to the point where you have | :02:26. | :02:31.
to put them into residential care and that really worries me because | :02:31. | :02:40.
John wants to be as home as much as possible. -- at home. Swansea is | :02:40. | :02:43.
changing the way it provides respite, cutting a budget for | :02:43. | :02:46.
internal provision by over 80 % in the last two years, and using | :02:46. | :02:48.
residential homes for short breaks instead. They admit they are | :02:49. | :02:53.
operating in a tough financial climate. We are faced with a | :02:53. | :02:58.
credible challenge is as local a thought East and we need to look at | :02:58. | :03:08.
her we use our resources. -- authorities. While it is true that | :03:08. | :03:16.
we are using this money we are also improving the existing services. | :03:16. | :03:23.
is clear councils are under pressure to make cuts. Figures we | :03:23. | :03:26.
have obtained under the Freedom Act show nine councils in Wales, | :03:26. | :03:29.
including Swansea, are spending less on respite this year than last. | :03:29. | :03:32.
A few others are spending less this year than in 2009. All this despite | :03:32. | :03:38.
the demand for respite growing. A recent independent analysis | :03:38. | :03:41.
estimated there are around 75,000 carers in Wales but only up to | :03:41. | :03:44.
15,000 receive respite and these cuts mean access to help might be | :03:44. | :03:54.
:03:54. | :03:55. | ||
eve harder to find in the future. For most families the problem is | :03:55. | :04:01.
that they cannot get access to anything. The qualification for | :04:01. | :04:06.
getting help from a local a bawdy goes up and up so they get nothing. | :04:06. | :04:11.
-- authority. The Welsh Government say they recognise the importance | :04:11. | :04:14.
of respite care but it is up to local authorities to provide | :04:14. | :04:16.
placements. For John's family it already feels like a struggle to | :04:16. | :04:23.
get the support they want. For others the battle may become even | :04:23. | :04:24.
harder. Beverlea Frowen is the Welsh Local | :04:24. | :04:26.
Government Association's director for social services and health | :04:26. | :04:31.
improvement. Our figures show respite budgets are being cut. What | :04:31. | :04:38.
are councils going to do to help care for people who need it? | :04:38. | :04:42.
think the figures do not undermine what is really happening across | :04:42. | :04:48.
Wales but it does say that there is tremendous pressure on the budgets. | :04:48. | :04:54.
Tel tills recognise that respite care is a crucial part of social | :04:54. | :05:04.
care. -- councils. They are using their money in different ways. If | :05:04. | :05:09.
you book at find its budget you will probably come up to that | :05:09. | :05:14.
conclusion. We are using money in different ways. Local authority | :05:14. | :05:18.
budgets are under extreme pressure and we want to move money around | :05:18. | :05:23.
and that is not easy. You cannot do that overnight and move from what | :05:23. | :05:31.
is quite an outdated mode of giving people a break from the tremendous | :05:31. | :05:36.
caring role quickly overnight. You have to move things around. Is it | :05:36. | :05:41.
really acceptable to put people who are used to being looked after in | :05:41. | :05:45.
the conduct of their own homes into residential care homes when they | :05:45. | :05:52.
need respite care? That cannot be acceptable. Despite here is a room | :05:52. | :06:02.
:06:02. | :06:02. | ||
for a lot of things. -- respite care. Fillies but young children | :06:02. | :06:08.
with difficulties would like a short break. -- families. Lots of | :06:08. | :06:13.
people need breaks in different ways. It is not acceptable, the | :06:13. | :06:19.
level that is in Wales, but the fatback is that there is not enough | :06:19. | :06:29.
:06:29. | :06:30. | ||
money to do everything. -- but the sad truth is. Thank you. | :06:30. | :06:32.
The elections watchdog has apologised after a new assembly | :06:32. | :06:35.
member fell victim to out of date guidance for candidates published | :06:35. | :06:37.
in Welsh and was disqualified. An independent investigation has now | :06:37. | :06:40.
found that Liberal Democrat, Aled Roberts, did everything reasonably | :06:40. | :06:43.
expected to check the rules. But a motion to reinstate a second | :06:43. | :06:45.
Liberal Democrat member, John Dixon, has been withdrawn after he was | :06:45. | :06:48.
found to have made too little effort to check the rules. Our | :06:48. | :06:58.
:06:58. | :07:04. | ||
political editor is at the Senedd. So it is bad news for John Dixon? | :07:04. | :07:14.
Yes. This report has looked at both cases. The Standards Commissioner | :07:14. | :07:17.
Gerard Elias looked at the cases of both Aled Roberts, seen here on the | :07:17. | :07:21.
right, and John Dixon on the left, and he does not hedge its bets. | :07:21. | :07:24.
What this does is confirm Mr Roberts' explanation why he had not | :07:24. | :07:26.
resigned from the Valuations Tribunal before standing in the | :07:26. | :07:29.
election given it is on a list of public bodies AMs cannot be members | :07:30. | :07:35.
of. It accepts that AR, a first language Welsh speaker, had checked | :07:35. | :07:38.
the guidance given in Welsh by the Electoral Commission, and that | :07:38. | :07:43.
guidance, the EC admit, was out of date and therefore wrong. Had he | :07:44. | :07:46.
checked the English language guidance, he would have seen that | :07:46. | :07:49.
being a member of the VT was a problem. GE says Mr Roberts was | :07:50. | :07:52.
entitled to assume that the Welsh version was correct and therefore | :07:52. | :07:55.
finds he did everything he could have reasonably been expected to do | :07:55. | :08:01.
to check he was eligible to stand. There is no such defence for John | :08:01. | :08:04.
Dixon who Elias says was perhaps lulled into a false sense of | :08:04. | :08:07.
security because he had stood in past elections, because back then | :08:07. | :08:10.
the rules had been different. But Mr Dixon accepted it was his | :08:10. | :08:12.
responsibility to check the rules and he hadn't. What happens next? | :08:12. | :08:15.
There will be a vote tomorrow. One vote. The Liberal Democrats have | :08:15. | :08:19.
accepted that there is no way back for John Dixon and with regret, as | :08:19. | :08:22.
Sir Alan Sugar puts it, have withdrawn the motion to reinstate | :08:22. | :08:25.
him. His seat will be taken by Eluned Parrott who was the next Lib | :08:25. | :08:34.
Dem on the South Wales Central list. Will she even be there in time to | :08:34. | :08:41.
vote for Aled Roberts? In his case Kirsty Williams says she hopes | :08:41. | :08:44.
Assembly Members will now be able to focus on the case of Aled | :08:45. | :08:48.
Roberts and ensure that justice is done. They say no deal has been | :08:48. | :08:51.
done but must be much more hopeful now of getting one of the Lib Dem | :08:52. | :08:54.
two back in the chamber. A 14-year old boy who died after | :08:55. | :08:58.
being swept away by strong currents in the River Towy has been named as | :08:58. | :09:00.
Kieran Bennett-Leefe. He was from Trevaughan on the outskirts of | :09:01. | :09:07.
Carmarthen. He was found in a deep pool near Capel Dewi, after a | :09:07. | :09:15.
extensive search by emergency services. | :09:15. | :09:20.
It is in this stretch of the river that the boy got into trouble. | :09:20. | :09:25.
There were fire engines and police cars racing to the scene. It | :09:25. | :09:29.
started out as a fun evening with friends but quickly turned to | :09:29. | :09:34.
tragedy. It is not known how he came to be in the river last night | :09:34. | :09:40.
but he was swept under water and died as a result. He was brought to | :09:40. | :09:46.
have been walking with friends when the accident happened at about 5 | :09:46. | :09:52.
o'clock. An alarm was raised and a search involving fire service and | :09:52. | :10:01.
Coastguard was launched. Rescue crew combed the river last night. | :10:01. | :10:05.
It was around 630 in the evening they found the boys submerged in a | :10:05. | :10:13.
deep rock pool. The paramedics were waiting at the river bank. He was | :10:13. | :10:17.
then flown to a hospital in Swansea where his family gathered as medics | :10:18. | :10:22.
tried in vain to save him. He died in the early hours of this morning. | :10:23. | :10:28.
His family returned this morning and they have been a company by a | :10:28. | :10:33.
police family liaison. They had issued a statement saying that they | :10:33. | :10:37.
are devastated and would like the media to respect their privacy at | :10:37. | :10:43.
this time. I have spoken to be deputy head of the school where the | :10:43. | :10:48.
boy went to school and he told me that he was a well-liked boy and a | :10:48. | :10:53.
poem was read out in tribute to him today. I was told that all of the | :10:53. | :10:56.
pupils have been offered bereavement puzzling should they | :10:56. | :11:00.

counselling. A social worker missed four | :11:05. | :11:07.
opportunities to consider reports that may have prevented a teenager | :11:07. | :11:10.
sexually abusing two young children, a hearing has been told. The 19- | :11:10. | :11:13.
year-old was placed by social services in the Vale of Glamorgan | :11:13. | :11:16.
with a foster family who were not told about his previous | :11:16. | :11:18.
inappropriate sexual behaviour. Julian Swan denies allegations of | :11:18. | :11:21.
misconduct of the Care Council for Wales. Our correspondent was at the | :11:21. | :11:28.
hearing. Remind us what happened in the case. | :11:28. | :11:36.
This relates to a teenager who was leaving the care system in 2008. As | :11:36. | :11:39.
part of that process, the 19-year- old was placed by Social Services | :11:39. | :11:48.
with a family who had two younger children. The teenager, referred to | :11:48. | :11:51.
as B, sexually abused those children. He was later sent to | :11:51. | :11:54.
prison for an indeterminate period. There was an investigation which | :11:54. | :11:56.
highlighted a series of failures. The Vale of Glamorgan council | :11:56. | :11:58.
apologised unreservedly to the family and took disciplinary action | :11:58. | :12:08.
:12:08. | :12:15. | ||
against a number of staff. At today's hearing before the | :12:15. | :12:17.
regulator the Care Council for Wales, former Vale of Glamorgan | :12:17. | :12:20.
social worker Julian Swan, who placed the teenager with the family, | :12:20. | :12:23.
faced four charges of misconduct, which he denies. He also denied | :12:23. | :12:26.
allegations that he had not adequately read the case files and | :12:26. | :12:28.
not undertaken an appropriate risk assessment. What was the hearing | :12:28. | :12:33.
told? The children's mother gave evidence by videolink. She told the | :12:33. | :12:36.
hearing that the family had been told that B posed no risk | :12:36. | :12:39.
whatsoever and that she had trusted Julian Swan's judgement. She said | :12:39. | :12:42.
if she had known B's true case history they wouldn't have let him | :12:42. | :12:52.
:12:52. | :12:52. | ||
into the family. The hearing also heard from Gareth Jenkins, the Vale | :12:52. | :12:55.
of Glamorgans Head of Children and Young people's services. He joined | :12:55. | :12:57.
the Council after the incident and carried out an investigation into | :12:58. | :13:07.
:13:08. | :13:12. | ||
what happened. He said Julian Swan did not know about B's previous | :13:12. | :13:14.
history of inappropriate sexual behaviour because he had not read | :13:14. | :13:17.
all the files. He claimed Julian Swan relied on the electronic | :13:17. | :13:20.
version of the case files which were incomplete. What did Julian's | :13:20. | :13:23.
representative say? He said that at the time there was systemic failure | :13:23. | :13:26.
in the department which was on the verge of special measures. He said | :13:26. | :13:29.
that Julian Swan had no specific training in risk assessment and | :13:29. | :13:32.
that Julian Swan had no supervision of his case work for ten years. The | :13:32. | :13:42.

The 20-year-old man will appear before a court accused with the | :13:45. | :13:50.
murder of Lewis Clarke. The 19- year-old died in hospital issues | :13:51. | :13:54.
Prix on Saturday evening. The police found Mr Clarke when they | :13:54. | :13:57.
were called to this flat in Llanidloes following a report of an | :13:57. | :14:04.
assault earlier that day. Mr Clarke was then taken hospital. Dyfed | :14:04. | :14:12.
Powys Police made a fresh appeal today for more information. It is a | :14:12. | :14:15.
difficult time for the family. I would like to appeal for witnesses | :14:15. | :14:21.
to come forward who may have been in the area around 11:30am on | :14:21. | :14:26.
Saturday. Or anybody else who may have information regarding the | :14:26. | :14:30.
incident. Dyfed Powys Police have released to bids from the family. | :14:30. | :14:36.

there's trouble at the top of the society which promotes Welsh Black | :15:31. | :15:34.
cattle. Members of the society are embroiled in arguments over | :15:34. | :15:36.
potential money problems. The society has dismissed its chief | :15:36. | :15:38.
executive. Our rural affairs correspondent, Iolo ap Dafydd, | :15:38. | :15:45.
reports. Welsh Black cattle are one of | :15:45. | :15:47.
Britain's indigenous breeds, thought to be here since pre Roman | :15:47. | :15:52.
times. Considered hardy enough to be kept on the hills as well as | :15:52. | :15:56.
lowland farms, they are valued as beef cattle. In 2004, the Welsh | :15:56. | :15:59.
Black Cattle Society celebrated its centenary and the society is about | :15:59. | :16:05.
to unveil the new look pavilion at the showground in Llanelwedd. But | :16:05. | :16:07.
threatening to overshadow those celebrations is an internal row | :16:07. | :16:11.
about the redundancy of chief executive, Andrew James. But the | :16:11. | :16:21.
society denies any wrongdoing. person was brought 10 to give us | :16:21. | :16:31.

Llanelwedd to show their cattle and celebrate their refurbished | :17:57. | :18:00.
headquarters, it's likely there will be questions on the new | :18:00. | :18:02.
direction and just how bad the finances are for the chief | :18:02. | :18:05.
executive's post to disappear. MPs have been told the Welsh | :18:05. | :18:07.
Government's scheme to boost broadband access is not publicised | :18:07. | :18:10.
enough. Giving evidence to the Welsh Affairs Select Committee, the | :18:10. | :18:13.
farming union, NFU Cymru, said the lack of broadband is causing real | :18:13. | :18:15.
difficulties to their members, and the Country Land and Business | :18:15. | :18:18.
Association said, it's the chief barrier for businesses setting up | :18:18. | :18:20.
in rural Wales. At the Tour de France, Wales' | :18:20. | :18:23.
Geraint Thomas has retained the white jersey for best young rider | :18:23. | :18:25.
after today's fourth stage in Brittany. Thomas, who's from | :18:25. | :18:28.
Cardiff, wasn't able to challenge for the leader's yellow jersey in a | :18:28. | :18:31.
gruelling final climb. But he's still well placed, ending the day | :18:31. | :18:33.
in seventh position overall. The hot sunshine of yesterday made | :18:33. | :18:36.
way for rain on today's fourth stage as the world's most famous | :18:36. | :18:39.
bike race made its way through the streets and country lanes of | :18:39. | :18:42.
Brittany. Today probably represented Geraint Thomas's last | :18:42. | :18:45.
chance to grab the yellow jersey, starting the day just four seconds | :18:45. | :18:49.
behind the leader. But it was clear that he was under team orders, | :18:49. | :18:52.
protecting the interests of team leader Bradley Wiggins, near the | :18:52. | :18:57.
front of the peleton. Their destination was the Mur de Bretagne, | :18:57. | :19:00.
which means the Wall of Brittany, a steep, energy sapping two kilometre | :19:00. | :19:07.
climb at the end of the 172 kilometre stage. Thomas was well | :19:07. | :19:09.
positioned as the finish line approached, finishing 29th to help | :19:09. | :19:14.
Team Sky to win the team stage. It leaves him seventh overall, a mere | :19:14. | :19:19.
12 seconds behind the race leader. Team Sky, managed by Welsh | :19:19. | :19:23.
principle Dave Brailsford, now have three riders in the top 10. They're | :19:23. | :19:27.
well placed to continue their challenge. And Geraint Thomas has | :19:27. | :19:33.
now equalled his achievement of last year. He'll wear the white | :19:33. | :19:35.
jersey for best young rider for the fourth successive stage. | :19:35. | :19:38.
Rugby, and the Cardiff Blues have put assistant coaches Gareth Baber | :19:38. | :19:41.
and Justin Burnell in charge of the team for the start of the new | :19:41. | :19:44.
season. They take over from their former boss Dai Young, who resigned | :19:44. | :19:47.
to become director of rugby at London Wasps. The Blues say they | :19:47. | :19:50.
will consider the appointment of a permanent replacement after the | :19:50. | :19:53.
World Cup this autumn. Former Glamorgan cricket coach | :19:53. | :19:56.
Matthew Maynard has accepted a job to coach South African side Nashua | :19:56. | :19:58.
Titans. Maynard resigned as Glamorgan's director of cricket in | :19:58. | :20:00.
November. He'll be in charge of several South African | :20:00. | :20:07.
internationals when he starts his new post next month. | :20:07. | :20:10.
It's been a memorable day for a teenager from Builth Wells, chosen | :20:10. | :20:13.
to speak at the closing ceremony of the Special Olympics in Athens. | :20:13. | :20:16.
Shain Lewis was picked from more than 7,000 athletes. Tomos Dafydd | :20:16. | :20:26.
:20:26. | :20:28. | ||
reports. My name is Shain Lewis. I play | :20:28. | :20:34.
tennis 14 Great Britain. If it is a day he will never forget. People of | :20:34. | :20:39.
Greece, on behalf of all World Games athletes, I want to say thank | :20:39. | :20:44.
you. Despite addressing 60,000 people in the stadium and hundreds | :20:44. | :20:51.
of thousands more watching live on television, he felt at home on | :20:51. | :20:56.
stage. He has already won two bronze and a medal haul of 22 from | :20:56. | :21:04.
Welsh athletes could have been greater. This competitor from | :21:04. | :21:07.
Milford Haven was destined for gold but was unable to compete in all | :21:07. | :21:12.
the runs after becoming ill with a stomach bug. But it is not all | :21:12. | :21:18.
about winning. Special Libyans over -- are often overlooked for | :21:18. | :21:22.
recognition. A photocall with the Prime Minister last month was a | :21:22. | :21:27.
breakthrough. Special Olympians have received no lottery funding | :21:27. | :21:30.
because their sport is not considered elite. The British | :21:30. | :21:35.
Paralympic team Flat-race with physical disabilities receive | :21:35. | :21:45.
:21:45. | :21:48. | ||
barely 15 million and the last round of funding. But Athens 2011 | :21:48. | :21:57.
has been well worth it. I am proud to be a Special Olympics athlete. | :21:57. | :22:00.
Thank you Athens. It's celebrating its 65th birthday | :22:00. | :22:03.
and thousands of musicians from around the world, from as far | :22:03. | :22:05.
afield as Taiwan and Algeria, have headed to Llangollen for the | :22:05. | :22:15.
:22:15. | :22:16. | ||
International Eisteddfod. Matthew Richards is there. | :22:16. | :22:20.
I am backstage and all the elements you would expect in the into | :22:20. | :22:23.
National Eisteddfod are in place. Colourful costumes and parades in | :22:23. | :22:29.
the centre of Llangollen. Big names are taking to the stage behind me. | :22:29. | :22:33.
But it takes an army of almost 1,000 volunteers to make sure every | :22:33. | :22:38.
year things run smoothly. For six and a half decades, the | :22:38. | :22:42.
Llangollen Eisteddfod has specialised in giving visitors the | :22:42. | :22:50.
world in a week. You have to be prepared. This volunteer has | :22:50. | :22:55.
volunteered at every step but since his debut in 1947 from the age of | :22:55. | :23:00.
14-79. Today, he is running one of the ticket offices but he's had a | :23:00. | :23:09.
few jobs over the years. We started as gophers. We worked very often | :23:09. | :23:14.
until 2 o'clock in the morning. Nobody wanted to go home. It was | :23:14. | :23:21.
amazing. It is so unique. It is a wonderful festival. When you | :23:21. | :23:31.
:23:31. | :23:32. | ||
experience it, it is like a bud. You want to keep coming back. | :23:32. | :23:34.
the infrastructure in place, the stage is set for the crucial | :23:34. | :23:40.
element, the competitors. The squire from Finland is making its | :23:40. | :23:44.
first trip to Llangollen despite applying more than a decade ago. | :23:44. | :23:54.
:23:54. | :23:56. | ||
sent a tape but the Tate never arrived. It had dropped behind a | :23:56. | :24:00.
cupboard or something. But this time, I received any male | :24:00. | :24:03.
immediately. It has been a long time coming then. A long time | :24:03. | :24:10.
coming. By Glenn also sees the stars come out this year. Russell | :24:10. | :24:14.
Watson will take the stage tonight. There are so many great stories | :24:14. | :24:21.
lend to the festival. The great Pavarotti sang her with his father. | :24:21. | :24:25.
It is steep with history and I am incredibly excited. Although the | :24:25. | :24:29.
elements combined, the unit celebrations about cultural | :24:29. | :24:35.
differences and similarities is still going strong. | :24:35. | :24:39.
You saw Russell often they're talking to us exclusively after his | :24:39. | :24:45.
soundcheck. He is on stage in just under an hour's time. He said he's | :24:45. | :24:49.
going to have a fair Welsh songs in his repertoire. That will get the | :24:49. | :24:53.
local crowd going. The show goes on all week with many different | :24:54. | :24:59.
performers taking to the stage and it will finish with a grand finale | :24:59. | :25:07.
concert on Sunday. But there is something for everybody. | :25:07. | :25:10.
Just time for a quick look ahead to tomorrow's programme. Here's Nick | :25:10. | :25:19.
Servini. After the financial crisis, many | :25:19. | :25:23.
people called for manufacturing to drive the economic recovery. | :25:23. | :25:27.
Tomorrow, the business secretary, Vince Cable, launches a campaign | :25:27. | :25:33.
celebrating managing excellence across the UK. We will do the same | :25:34. | :25:38.
with a series in which the focus on three locations across the country. | :25:38. | :25:46.
Including here at the chemical plant in Barry. Back to tonight, | :25:46. | :25:48.
and the weather forecast with Sue and the weather forecast with Sue | :25:48. | :25:51.
Charles. It was all change today. After | :25:51. | :25:53.
yesterday's warmth, cooler and breezier with some rain, and | :25:53. | :25:56.
there's another day of sunshine and showers in store tomorrow. The high | :25:56. | :25:59.
pressure has moved towards Scandanavia along with the settled | :25:59. | :26:02.
weather. This low has pushed in from the Atlantic, bringing | :26:02. | :26:05.
changeable conditions over the next few days. This evening, some clear | :26:05. | :26:07.
spells but scattered heavy showers move northeastwards through the | :26:07. | :26:11.
night. The cloud holding up the temperatures, which will stay in | :26:11. | :26:16.
double figures, so a relatively mild night. Tomorrow will be breezy | :26:16. | :26:20.
with the best of any brightness early on. The showers will be hit | :26:20. | :26:25.
and miss but some heavy with a risk of hail and thunder. Cloud will | :26:25. | :26:29.
thicken from the southwest later. Then more rain follows, pushed in | :26:29. | :26:33.
by some brisk southwesterly winds. Feeling relatively cool with highs | :26:33. | :26:37.
between 15C in Ceredigion and 19C in Wrexham. That's down several | :26:37. | :26:43.
degrees on recent days. This heavy rain pushes northeastwards late | :26:43. | :26:45.
Wednesday into Thursday, then Thursday itself is another day of | :26:46. | :26:49.
sunshine and showers, gusty winds and temperatures in the mid to high | :26:49. | :26:53.
teens again. So a cooler, breezy mix of bright spells and showers | :26:53. | :26:57.
over the next few days. Really rather unsettled. But early signs | :26:57. | :27:00.
of something more summery again into next week. Changeable | :27:00. | :27:02.
conditions then for Penygroes Rugby Club who are celebrating their | :27:02. | :27:05.
120th Anniversary on Friday and Saturday with a host of special | :27:05. | :27:12.
events and charity matches. Finally, today's picture is from Glyn | :27:12. | :27:22.

Roberts from Deganwy. The sunset over the Conwy estuary. | :27:23. | :27:26.
It's coming up to 7:00pm. The main news again: Police investigating | :27:26. | :27:29.
the News of the World phone hacking scandal have contacted the parents | :27:29. | :27:32.
of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, the two schoolgirls killed in Soham | :27:32. | :27:35.
in 2002. MPs will discuss the developments in an emergency debate | :27:35. | :27:38.
tomorrow. BBC Wales has discovered that | :27:38. | :27:41.
councils across the country have made cuts to respite support for | :27:41. | :27:44.
people with serious care needs and disabilities. At least nine Welsh | :27:44. | :27:47.
councils have cut their respite budgets this year. The councils say | :27:47. | :27:53.
they're facing huge financial challenges. | :27:53. | :27:56. |
