nosed dolphins on the UK coast with over 260 dolphins living in the | 0:09:05 | 0:09:10

all the time, people come down here year after year just to seek the | 0:09:33 | 0:09:38
dolphins. Sometimes they do make a show. There were a few signs of | 0:09:38 | 0:09:43
life of the coast of Cardigan Bay this afternoon, but the dolphins | 0:09:43 | 0:09:46

draws them to this part of the World? Cardigan Bay is a really | 0:10:26 | 0:10:35
nice, sheltered day. Not too many strong currents. And there is a lot | 0:10:35 | 0:10:39

patterns emerged over that period? Not really, but that is a good | 0:10:58 | 0:11:03
thing because the population is very healthy. We used a technique | 0:11:03 | 0:11:07
called photo ID, when we take photographs of the fines of the | 0:11:07 | 0:11:11
animal, and up the backside of each in, there are notches and scratches, | 0:11:11 | 0:11:16
which used like a fingerprint. We have 260 of these animals that have | 0:11:16 | 0:11:21
been identified. There are lots of newborn calves this year. The | 0:11:21 | 0:11:26
numbers are very stable. And as part of the survey, you also hope | 0:11:26 | 0:11:33
members of the public and fishermen can help you out? Absolutely. I | 0:11:33 | 0:11:37
manage the database and the last members of the public to report any | 0:11:37 | 0:11:42
sightings of dolphins, whales or porpoises. So if people who work on | 0:11:42 | 0:11:47
or around the water can report any sightings to me, I need a location, | 0:11:47 | 0:11:53
date and the number of animals and I will work out the species | 0:11:53 | 0:11:57

done all that was required, they assembled all the information and | 0:14:29 | 0:14:31
replied by this afternoon's 5pm deadline. Last Friday, the club | 0:14:31 | 0:14:34

confirmation of their status and proof they have enough financial | 0:14:36 | 0:14:39

the criteria that was asked for and are now awaiting a response. The | 0:14:43 | 0:14:46
Dragons are due to start their season at home to Cambridge on | 0:14:46 | 0:14:49
Saturday. The new football season is only a | 0:14:49 | 0:14:52
few days old, but attention is already turning to the | 0:14:52 | 0:14:55
international game. The Wales squad met up today to prepare for | 0:14:55 | 0:14:58
Wednesday's friendly against Australia. They arrived to hear the | 0:14:58 | 0:15:02
news that they will be facing their old manager, John Toshack, in the | 0:15:02 | 0:15:06
2014 World Cup qualifiers. He is the new man in charge of Group A | 0:15:06 | 0:15:10

manager, but now John Toshack can add "national coach of Macedonia" | 0:15:13 | 0:15:19
to his lengthy CV. He accepted the job over the weekend, 11 months | 0:15:19 | 0:15:23
after resigning from his post with Wales. Inevitably, in the way these | 0:15:23 | 0:15:27
things so often work, Toshack will be on his way back to Wales shortly, | 0:15:27 | 0:15:35
bringing his new team over for a World Cup qualifier. Macedonia, who | 0:15:35 | 0:15:38
are ranked 96th in the world, have been drawn in the same qualifying | 0:15:38 | 0:15:42
group as Wales, and the two will now meet home and away as they try | 0:15:42 | 0:15:48
to qualify for Brazil 2014. We will know exactly what he is steering, | 0:15:48 | 0:15:53
exactly how he works, and that might be a good thing for us. They | 0:15:53 | 0:15:57
will be the same as all of the teams in the rest of the group. We | 0:15:57 | 0:16:04

management services. The Welsh Government says they are committed | 0:17:48 | 0:17:52
to increasing the services pharmacists provide. | 0:17:52 | 0:17:55
The waiting list for an allotment in Wales shows no sign of getting | 0:17:55 | 0:17:58
any shorter. That is according to the National Society of Allotment | 0:17:58 | 0:18:03
and Leisure Gardeners, who say 4000 people are still waiting. In June, | 0:18:03 | 0:18:06
First Minister Carwyn Jones set out plans to ensure a minimum standard | 0:18:06 | 0:18:09
for the amount of land Welsh councils should devote to | 0:18:09 | 0:18:12
allotments. But the Society says there must be more emphasis on | 0:18:12 | 0:18:16
provision. They are walking in the footsteps | 0:18:16 | 0:18:19
of ancient pilgrims. A group of people are journeying across north | 0:18:20 | 0:18:22
Wales, stopping at sites of religious and historical importance, | 0:18:22 | 0:18:27
as part of a unique trail. The route, from Basingwerk Abbey in | 0:18:27 | 0:18:30
Flintshire to Bardsey Island, joins up churches, abbeys and monuments | 0:18:30 | 0:18:33
for the first time. The inaugural trip covers 127 miles and is due to | 0:18:33 | 0:18:43
0:18:43 | 0:18:46 | ||
take 11 days. Support them as they walk the | 0:18:46 | 0:18:48
pilgrim way in your light and your presence... | 0:18:48 | 0:18:51
Pilgrims have been making their way to religious sites for thousands of | 0:18:51 | 0:18:54
years, but it is only now that those on a spiritual journey can | 0:18:54 | 0:18:57
follow a route which takes them right across north Wales. Beginning | 0:18:57 | 0:19:00
at Basingwerk Abbey in Holywell yesterday, the walk includes sites | 0:19:00 | 0:19:03
connected with St Winifrede and St Beuno. Day two, and the pilgrims | 0:19:03 | 0:19:07
have progressed to a monument in Whitford. Made the road rises up to | 0:19:07 | 0:19:12
meet you, made the wind be always at your back, may the sunshine upon | 0:19:12 | 0:19:17
your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields. Chris Potter, the dean | 0:19:17 | 0:19:20
of St Asaph Cathedral, and his wife were inspired to create the trail | 0:19:20 | 0:19:24
by a trip to Spain's Camino de Santiago, or Way of St James, which | 0:19:24 | 0:19:27
leads Christians to where the saint is said to be buried. It was a | 0:19:27 | 0:19:31
journey of self-discovery, and a journey in which you put everything | 0:19:31 | 0:19:34
else aside. You just have to concentrate on getting there, on | 0:19:34 | 0:19:39
the physical side of it. You are emptied of absolutely everything, | 0:19:39 | 0:19:43
and that thing that is what the beauty of it is, it is a kind of | 0:19:43 | 0:19:46
energetic meditation. Around 20 people are expected to complete | 0:19:46 | 0:19:49
every step of the trail through St Asaph, Bangor and Caernarfon, | 0:19:49 | 0:19:52
ending up on Bardsey Island. Although the stops along the way | 0:19:52 | 0:19:58
are hardly new, the trail joining these points certainly is, which is | 0:19:58 | 0:20:02
why the pilgrims are way marking each of the stops so others can | 0:20:02 | 0:20:05
follow in their path. The route has been drawn up by a committee | 0:20:05 | 0:20:08
including regular ramblers who have noticed a more spiritual side to | 0:20:08 | 0:20:12
this long stroll. We think we have developed a wonderful route, and | 0:20:12 | 0:20:18
while that, as we get further west, is very much big sky country where | 0:20:18 | 0:20:23
people can get lost in their own thoughts and look around and see | 0:20:23 | 0:20:26
what is going. The group is keen to welcome walkers for day-long | 0:20:26 | 0:20:29
stretches or even the whole route, as they take steps along a | 0:20:29 | 0:20:32
righteous path. Wales' full-back Morgan Stoddart | 0:20:32 | 0:20:37
has undergone surgery for the broken leg he suffered on Saturday. | 0:20:37 | 0:20:40
Despite that huge blow, some better news today for Warren Gatland on | 0:20:40 | 0:20:47
the injury front. James Hook, Lee Byrne and Adam Jones are all back | 0:20:47 | 0:20:50
and available for selection this Saturday against England. But Wales | 0:20:50 | 0:20:55
are still waiting on the fitness of Stephen Jones and Matthew Rees, and | 0:20:55 | 0:21:00
are keeping a close eye on Gethin Jenkins. | 0:21:00 | 0:21:03
I imagine you will see a few changes from both sets of | 0:21:03 | 0:21:08
management this weekend as they use different combinations, and give | 0:21:08 | 0:21:14
the boys some precious game time. It becomes paramount now that you | 0:21:14 | 0:21:18
get some rugby under your belt. Joining me on the sofa, former | 0:21:18 | 0:21:22
Wales international, John Devereux. Ryan Jones saying everybody wants | 0:21:23 | 0:21:27
to play, those who did not play on Saturday despite for a chance this | 0:21:27 | 0:21:31
weekend? And things so, and the same with the British Lions, raring | 0:21:31 | 0:21:37
to go. They want to play against England, it is so important to play | 0:21:37 | 0:21:41
in Matt Damon get a win to go into the Argentine again. On Saturday, | 0:21:42 | 0:21:46
three tries, what were the politics for you and who booked a place on | 0:21:46 | 0:21:52
the plane? There were lots of positives. Stephen Jones went out | 0:21:52 | 0:21:56
early in my game, which was hard, and Morgan Stoddart got injured, | 0:21:56 | 0:22:01
but people like George North, Rhys Priestland coming in for George | 0:22:01 | 0:22:06
North did well. Jamie Roberts back to his old self, Mike Phillips, | 0:22:06 | 0:22:10
Ryan Jones as well coming on. Lots of politics, defence was good, | 0:22:10 | 0:22:16
fitness levels are fantastic. I think there were three well-worked | 0:22:16 | 0:22:22
try is, showed a lot of discipline and patience. Would you make | 0:22:22 | 0:22:26
changes on Saturday? I think England have got to make changes, | 0:22:26 | 0:22:32
so we should look at bringing the big guns in, I suppose. Rhys | 0:22:32 | 0:22:37
Priestland has put his hand up, but the likes of Lee Byrne, Gethin | 0:22:37 | 0:22:42
Jenkins and Adam Jones aren't players who could stiffen up the | 0:22:42 | 0:22:46
front right. We were under pressure there, so it is an area where we | 0:22:46 | 0:22:52
could improve. Get the ball into the hands of George North and Shane | 0:22:52 | 0:22:56
Williams, they are immense. important is a win for the mental | 0:22:56 | 0:23:01
stamina? We did well on Saturday but it was a loss. What would a win | 0:23:01 | 0:23:06
mean before they head off to New Zealand? Full confidence, to go | 0:23:06 | 0:23:12
into the World Cup, we need to win. 17 games, four wins, it is not | 0:23:12 | 0:23:16
great. We need more going into the World Cup. It is difficult, the | 0:23:17 | 0:23:20
boys are rusty, these are the first couple of games this season, but | 0:23:20 | 0:23:24
they have been training hard and off it, I am sure they are raring | 0:23:24 | 0:23:30
to get. Thank you. 11 months to go, Welsh athletes are | 0:23:30 | 0:23:33
amongst the first to be selected for the London games. Paralympic | 0:23:33 | 0:23:36
sailor Stevie Thomas from Bridgend and his three-man Sonar team will | 0:23:36 | 0:23:38
be part of Team GB. And a fantastic win for Helen | 0:23:39 | 0:23:42
Jenkins at the weekend means she is the first Welsh athlete to meet the | 0:23:42 | 0:23:44
qualifying criteria for the Olympics. The 27-year-old won the | 0:23:44 | 0:23:47
women's Hyde Park triathlon at the weekend, on the course expected to | 0:23:47 | 0:23:53
be the exact one for the London Games. | 0:23:53 | 0:23:58
It hurt so much! Normally when you win, you are like, yes, it was easy, | 0:23:58 | 0:24:05
but that hurt. The bike was easy, and then I was at the front, so I | 0:24:05 | 0:24:12
kept running. The last 20 seconds, I thought, if I blow what I am | 0:24:13 | 0:24:19
going to lose! I had to keep going Triathletes like Helen enjoy a bit | 0:24:19 | 0:24:23
of rain. But the rest of us would like some summer sun, Behnaz. | 0:24:23 | 0:24:27
You can habit for the day tomorrow! Let's have a look at a live scene | 0:24:27 | 0:24:33
in New Quay this evening. Quite breezy there, showers on and off. | 0:24:33 | 0:24:37
Tomorrow hopefully you can look forward to a bit more sunshine. | 0:24:37 | 0:24:41
Showers should start to ease this evening but there are a few heavy | 0:24:41 | 0:24:45
ones scattered at the moment, especially across parts of mid- | 0:24:45 | 0:24:51
Wales. Overnight, becoming dry, we will see some clear spells | 0:24:51 | 0:24:59
developing and a cool might for August. As for the winds, lighter | 0:24:59 | 0:25:03
than this morning and this afternoon, but still noticeable on | 0:25:03 | 0:25:07
the north-west coast. High-pressure building tomorrow from the south- | 0:25:07 | 0:25:11
west, settled conditions heading our way but just for the day, as we | 0:25:11 | 0:25:15
have low-pressure in the Atlantic which will bring more unsettled | 0:25:15 | 0:25:19
weather on Wednesday and Thursday. Tomorrow morning, a few showers | 0:25:19 | 0:25:23
dotted around the north, which will ease as we go into the afternoon, | 0:25:23 | 0:25:28
then plenty of bright and sunny spells developing with highs of | 0:25:28 | 0:25:31
around 19 Celsius. As for the winds, they should be lighter than today | 0:25:31 | 0:25:35
but still noticeable along the north-west coast. A warning in | 0:25:35 | 0:25:39
force at the moment for heavy rain across the north-west on Wednesday | 0:25:39 | 0:25:45
and Thursday. We will keep the mum that over the next few days, but on | 0:25:45 | 0:25:48
Wednesday the heaviest rain across the north-west, elsewhere wet and | 0:25:48 | 0:25:53
windy, but as we go through the day, had fully, the rain should ease off. | 0:25:53 | 0:25:58
Not a pleasant day to be out and about. On Thursday, more wet and | 0:25:58 | 0:26:02
windy weather, but there are hints that the weather will get warmer | 0:26:02 | 0:26:10
towards the end of the week, but by no means wall-to-wall sunshine. | 0:26:10 | 0:26:14
Today's picture was taken yesterday at three clicks Bay, showing a | 0:26:14 | 0:26:19
waterspout out at the sea. A beautiful picture, thank you for | 0:26:19 | 0:26:29

Enjoy the sunshine tomorrow, it is It is almost 7pm, the headlines | 0:26:29 | 0:26:32
from the BBC. More violence has broken out on the | 0:26:32 | 0:26:35
streets of London this evening. In Hackney, police in riot gear are | 0:26:35 | 0:26:38
being attacked with stones and missiles. And shops and businesses | 0:26:38 | 0:26:41
are being looted. Extra police are being deployed in the capital to | 0:26:41 | 0:26:50
try to quell the trouble that began in Tottenham on Saturday. | 0:26:50 | 0:26:56
There is no excuse for thuggery. The police will deal with any | 0:26:56 | 0:26:59
emerging situations as they consider best appropriate for those | 0:26:59 | 0:27:03
situations but I am clear there is no excuse for looters, thuggery or | 0:27:03 | 0:27:08
violence on the streets. Let me bring you the latest live | 0:27:08 | 0:27:11
pictures from Lewisham in south London, vehicles being set alight | 0:27:11 | 0:27:17
as police are trying to deal with unrest there, too. The Home | 0:27:17 | 0:27:21
Secretary, Theresa May, has just returned from her holiday and says | 0:27:21 | 0:27:26
the actions of the looters are about Shia criminality. Much more, | 0:27:26 | 0:27:32
of course, on this story on FE BBC News Channel throughout the course | 0:27:32 | 0:27:35
of this evening. We will have an update for you here | 0:27:35 | 0:27:38 |
