Welcome to Wales Today. Tonight's top story: | :00:03. | :00:07.
A train crash in Carmarthenshire - the driver of a hay lorry on a | :00:07. | :00:17.
:00:17. | :00:20. | ||
level crossing is arrested. We have the exclusive pictures on board. | :00:20. | :00:30.
:00:30. | :00:39. | ||
The first carriage was OK but the Our other headlines tonight: Dave | :00:39. | :00:43.

taken from this butchers. The jaw to the gate. | :01:05. | :01:08.
The fossils believed to be more than 450 million years old that | :01:08. | :01:14.
could rewrite the history books. And a dismal weekend for welsh | :01:14. | :01:24.

rugby - four defeats and the Good evening. A train crash in | :01:26. | :01:29.
Carmarthenshire on a level crossing - tonight the driver of a lorry | :01:29. | :01:32.
involved in the accident has been arrested. Seven people suffered | :01:32. | :01:36.
minor injuries when the train hit the cab of the lorry near Whitland. | :01:36. | :01:39.
Police say the 48-year-old man from Llanboidy has been detained on | :01:39. | :01:49.
:01:49. | :01:57. | ||
suspicion of endangering safety. We are at the scene tonight. Police | :01:57. | :02:00.
have a light does a little bit closer and hopefully we will be | :02:00. | :02:06.
able to see the extent of the damage. It is amazing that we are | :02:06. | :02:14.
only talking about a few cuts and bruises. The trainer, which was | :02:14. | :02:17.
travelling from Milford Haven it to Manchester Piccadilly, crashed into | :02:17. | :02:23.
a lorry which was stuck on a level crossing. This might -- despite | :02:23. | :02:28.
smashing up the front of it, it managed to stay on the track and | :02:28. | :02:34.
ultimately saved lives. It is not what you expect to see | :02:34. | :02:39.
when you train stops. Moments after the collision, a passenger up | :02:39. | :02:43.
recorded this footage. Through the window you can make out a lorry cab | :02:43. | :02:53.
:02:53. | :02:53. | ||
On the Tracks. That is what the train hit. I heard a big bang. I | :02:53. | :02:58.
thought that something had happened. The track is covered in he, thrown | :02:58. | :03:03.
from the trail of the lorry was towing. One passenger told us that | :03:03. | :03:09.
driver was not inside at the time. For the lorry was stuck in the | :03:09. | :03:17.
middle and the driver left the lorry to get out of the way. The | :03:17. | :03:24.
train hit the lorry and as it was raining I think that it was | :03:25. | :03:31.
dramatic. Pass injures it looked shaken the yet relieved. -- | :03:31. | :03:36.
passengers. Five people were taken to hospital suffering from cuts and | :03:36. | :03:46.
:03:46. | :03:47. | ||
bruises and shock. A lady behind me had split the bridge of her nose. | :03:47. | :03:53.
She was not concussed. She went through the carriage, everyone else | :03:53. | :03:57.
was fine and the emergency services arrived. Police say it was | :03:57. | :04:04.
incredibly lucky the train did not a real. It has pushed the front cap | :04:04. | :04:09.
of the train up the line. We will look look at that and see what has | :04:09. | :04:15.
happened. In all, 15 services have been affected today because of the | :04:15. | :04:24.
crash. The stretch of line has been replaced by buses. The company says | :04:24. | :04:28.
it an emergency it the 20 bill will operate tomorrow boss our | :04:28. | :04:35.
investigation and repairs will be carried out. Back in 1994, several | :04:35. | :04:39.
people were injured here when a train at Het IGC be at the same | :04:39. | :04:45.
spot. You can probably see some people | :04:45. | :04:49.
behind me, these are the engineers. We are told they will be working | :04:49. | :04:54.
throughout the night to restore services. In the meantime, | :04:54. | :04:58.
passengers are advised to check with Network Rail because there | :04:58. | :05:06.
will be a revised timetable. The latest as it stands is that the | :05:06. | :05:11.
driver of the lorry has been arrested and Network Rail say there | :05:11. | :05:15.
will be a detailed investigation with the British Transport Police. | :05:15. | :05:19.
Initial indications show that the level crossing was working properly | :05:19. | :05:24.
at the time of the crash. A man is in a critical condition | :05:24. | :05:27.
after an accident involving a bus on one of the main roads into | :05:27. | :05:30.
Swansea. The pedestrian had to be rescued from underneath the bus by | :05:30. | :05:33.
fire crews. Ten passengers were treated for shock. The accident | :05:33. | :05:36.
happened this morning on Fabian Way - the road was closed for three | :05:36. | :05:40.
hours. A new five year plan has been | :05:40. | :05:43.
announced, aimed at improving treatment for patients with cancer. | :05:43. | :05:45.
The Welsh government says it's putting responsibility on our seven | :05:45. | :05:48.
local health boards to plan and deliver high quality, modern cancer | :05:48. | :05:53.
services. Patients will also be asked to rate their treatment. | :05:53. | :06:02.
Rebecca John reports. Two patients with very different | :06:02. | :06:07.
experiences of our most common cancers, breast and prostate. Dave | :06:07. | :06:10.
Powell From Barry has every reason to celebrate this Christmas after | :06:10. | :06:15.
being given the all-clear. Five years ago, he was diagnosed with | :06:15. | :06:19.
early-stage prostate cancer. He fought for nine months to have | :06:19. | :06:23.
treatment paid for on the NHS. It involves implanting radioactive | :06:23. | :06:28.
seeds in the prostate gland. He had to go to Leeds as the treatment was | :06:28. | :06:32.
only available in England at the time. To have another battle going | :06:33. | :06:36.
on just to get the tea -- the treatment for the cancer you have | :06:36. | :06:42.
been told you have got, is a necessary. Especially when it is | :06:42. | :06:47.
available to cancer sufferers the other side of the bridge. Sybil | :06:47. | :06:50.
Fowler is a marketing consultant who was diagnosed with breast | :06:50. | :06:57.
cancer in May. She had her last session of breast cancer -- | :06:57. | :07:02.
chemotherapy last week. She cannot fault her treatment. I think it was | :07:02. | :07:06.
exceptional. I was allocated a dedicated nurse who was with me | :07:06. | :07:14.
throughout. She stills runt - that she still rings me up. Today, the | :07:14. | :07:18.
Welsh Government it published a five-year plan for the NHS in Wales | :07:18. | :07:28.
:07:28. | :07:41. | ||
called together against cancer. It There are no big headline | :07:41. | :07:45.
initiatives here, no radical change. It is about continuing with those | :07:45. | :07:50.
rather boring improvements that are actually quite necessary. It is | :07:50. | :07:55.
about getting services that are currently in place to do better. | :07:55. | :07:59.
Lifestyle choices have a huge impact on rates of cancer. This | :07:59. | :08:03.
plan puts responsibility of local health boards to support people to | :08:03. | :08:07.
reduce their risks of developing cancer in the first place. There | :08:07. | :08:12.
was a recent study by Cancer Research UK which suggested that | :08:12. | :08:17.
there are four key areas in cancer prevention. Smoking, obesity, lack | :08:17. | :08:25.
of exercise, and alcohol. If they could be attended to, that would be | :08:25. | :08:32.
good. The Welsh Government wants to retain at cancer rates comparable | :08:32. | :08:35.
to that lowest in Europe. One of the biggest challenges will be | :08:35. | :08:41.
encouraging people to change their own behaviour. | :08:41. | :08:45.
Police are becoming increasingly concerned tonight over a missing | :08:45. | :08:53.
teenager. Amid -- major search is underway. | :08:53. | :08:57.
In the air, a police helicopter making low passes over the card and | :08:57. | :09:02.
Park Hotel and Golf Club. The police underwater team has been | :09:02. | :09:06.
involved as well. It is your between Wrexham and Chester that | :09:06. | :09:10.
the search for Hayden Evans is centred. He had been with workmates | :09:11. | :09:15.
enjoying a Christmas get together. He left the hotel at -- after | :09:15. | :09:19.
midnight on Friday. Nothing has been seen or heard of him since. | :09:19. | :09:24.
Police say they know what the hell of people living nearby. If you | :09:24. | :09:28.
live in the surrounds of card and Park, even if you are a mile or two | :09:28. | :09:32.
miles away, could you have a look in your garage or out house, just | :09:32. | :09:38.
in case we have a lot -- a young man there who has been injured. | :09:38. | :09:44.
Today, the focus is on the Hotel's extensive grounds. This has not | :09:44. | :09:49.
been the easiest area to search. There are lakes and thick | :09:49. | :09:53.
underground at -- undergrowth and the weather dropped below say it -- | :09:53. | :10:01.
below zero. Heat and Evan's disappearance is said to be out of | :10:01. | :10:10.
Before 7 o'clock, at the factory floor that is turned into a health | :10:10. | :10:14.
centre. And to the war of words over music. | :10:14. | :10:21.
Our songs sung in Welsh worth less than in English? | :10:21. | :10:24.
First, Thousands of pounds worth of meat | :10:24. | :10:28.
has been stolen from a butchers in Porth. More than 60 orders now have | :10:28. | :10:30.
to be replaced to make sure customers have their turkeys in | :10:30. | :10:37.
time for Christmas day. Kate Morgan reports. | :10:37. | :10:41.
These empty shelves should be sure it -- full of Christmas turkeys. | :10:41. | :10:44.
But she did when the owners opened, they discovered it had been | :10:44. | :10:54.
ransacked. I got up about 438 this morning. As I drove then, before I | :10:54. | :11:04.
:11:04. | :11:06. | ||
unlocked the gate, I notice that the door was opened. It feels as if | :11:06. | :11:11.
all the time that we have spent here, it was just for nothing. We | :11:11. | :11:18.
have only been in the business six months, it is really hard. It is | :11:18. | :11:23.
really hard to see someone destroy your business. More than 60 orders | :11:23. | :11:29.
of Turkey, beef and Ham have been stolen, worth more than 200 -- | :11:29. | :11:33.
2,000. But for the family, the biggest loss is that children's | :11:33. | :11:40.
presents they had stored up stairs. Horrified. Everything we had to | :11:40. | :11:45.
give our little boy is to give a good Christmas, they have just | :11:45. | :11:53.
taken. There is nothing left for them. Tonight police are warning | :11:53. | :11:57.
people in the area not to buy any meat if they are uncertain where it | :11:57. | :12:02.
came from. My concern is what has happened to this meat since it was | :12:02. | :12:07.
stolen. We do not know how it has been handled and we urge people not | :12:07. | :12:11.
to buy this meat from anybody. family say they will now work | :12:11. | :12:16.
round-the-clock to replace their customer's orders in time for | :12:16. | :12:22.
Christmas dinner. Scientists say a collection of | :12:22. | :12:27.
fossils are more than 450 million years old. Scientists have spent | :12:27. | :12:31.
more than seven years to it analysed the specimens, which were | :12:31. | :12:38.
found in a disused quarry. Their research suggests that the fossils | :12:38. | :12:44.
date at a time where the air was partially under water. -- be area | :12:44. | :12:51.
was partially under water. What are we looking at here? | :12:51. | :12:58.
The types of fossils which these researchers have recorded include | :12:58. | :13:04.
squid it like animals, animals that resemble an enemy's, and also an | :13:04. | :13:09.
number of fossils and just as well. The important thing about these | :13:09. | :13:13.
organisms as the -- is that they are made of soft tissue, no hard | :13:13. | :13:18.
parts. To actually find the remains of these soft body to organisms | :13:18. | :13:28.
:13:28. | :13:30. | ||
preserved in rocks his old as this As your article said, the area was | :13:30. | :13:36.
under water and the period. These discoveries add to our | :13:36. | :13:41.
understanding of how diverse the marine communities were that | :13:41. | :13:47.
occupied the seabed at this time. That is an important discovery in | :13:47. | :13:51.
its own right. What is additionally important his other new techniques | :13:51. | :13:56.
researchers have used to discover these fossils. They have used X- | :13:56. | :14:03.
rays and CT scans, these are techniques people will be familiar | :14:03. | :14:07.
within hospitals, to actually look at internal or organisms. Here | :14:07. | :14:12.
researchers have used them to look inside solid blocks of rock and to | :14:12. | :14:16.
look and visualise the fossils present in the rocks. That is very | :14:16. | :14:22.
important. The use of these new technologies is increasing in the | :14:22. | :14:26.
world of Cailean otology and there is almost a Pandora's box of new | :14:26. | :14:34.
discoveries being made. Using these days of Rees, -- using these | :14:34. | :14:38.
techniques, there is potential to yield other discoveries in other | :14:38. | :14:45.
areas of Wales. Fascinating stuff. Thank you. | :14:45. | :14:47.
Hundreds of workers across Carmarthenshire are being offered | :14:47. | :14:50.
screening to tackle growing levels of diabetes and heart disease. A | :14:50. | :14:54.
collaboration between the local health board and Tata Steel. | :14:54. | :14:57.
Throughout the year, we've brought you a series from our reporter Nick | :14:57. | :14:59.
Palit, who's been diagnosed with diabetes and been trying to reverse | :15:00. | :15:08.
his condition. Tonight he takes a look at this pioneering project. | :15:08. | :15:11.
Since I started my series looking at the problem of diabetes in Wales, | :15:11. | :15:15.
I've spoken to patients young and old, who have type 1 or type 2 | :15:15. | :15:18.
diabetes and everyone has had their own story to tell. I've heard from | :15:18. | :15:21.
scientists across the country who are hoping one day to find a cure. | :15:21. | :15:24.
But the old adage that prevention is better than cure has been | :15:24. | :15:26.
adopted in Carmarthenhire. Here they believe that health-screening | :15:26. | :15:30.
of at risk groups will be key to tackling this health crisis. At the | :15:30. | :15:33.
Tata Tin plate works at Trostre, the 400 steel workers have been | :15:33. | :15:36.
involved in a groundbreaking trial to try and detect diabetes and | :15:36. | :15:45.
heart problems before the diseases take a hold. | :15:45. | :15:49.
I am just checking your pulse, making sure it is nice and steady. | :15:49. | :15:52.
Every worker in Carmarthenshire over the age of 40 that works for | :15:52. | :15:55.
either Tata or the Hwyel Dda Health Board is being offered health | :15:55. | :16:02.
screening in an initiative known as Prosiect Sir Gar. | :16:02. | :16:08.
We measure their weight, height and waist circumference. We can do | :16:08. | :16:13.
their cholesterol and diabetes blood check as well. We feed it | :16:13. | :16:17.
into the computer and give them a percentage of their risk of | :16:17. | :16:24.
developing cardiovascular diabetes over the coming 10 years. One man | :16:24. | :16:30.
to benefit from the scheme so far has been 59-year-old Haydn Beynon. | :16:30. | :16:35.
Since I've started modifying the way I eat, the amount of exercise I | :16:35. | :16:41.
take, this has been going on since January and I have lost 28. I've | :16:41. | :16:47.
had cheques up in the occupational health department and my risk of | :16:47. | :16:54.
cardiovascular disease and diabetes has dropped by six or 7%. It has | :16:54. | :17:00.
been a huge difference to my work life and my home life. | :17:00. | :17:04.
The health board chose Tata Steel for the scheme because they have | :17:04. | :17:08.
trained occupational health staff and a large workforce. | :17:08. | :17:12.
We have a very active workforce, as you would expect in the heavy | :17:12. | :17:18.
industry. We have about 400 and we screened about 250 so far. Out of | :17:18. | :17:23.
those, six or 7% had the opportunity to have some positive | :17:23. | :17:26.
intervention and the opportunity to change their lifestyles and bring | :17:26. | :17:30.
the risk factors down. If workplace schemes like this | :17:30. | :17:32.
pilot project in Carmarthenshire were more widespread, experts | :17:32. | :17:35.
believe it would pay dividends both in improving health and protecting | :17:35. | :17:37.
shrinking health budgets. Treating diabetes and its complications is | :17:37. | :17:40.
already costing the Welsh NHS around 500 million a year and if | :17:40. | :17:43.
the current trend continues it's expected that over 250,000 people | :17:43. | :17:53.
:17:53. | :17:57. | ||
Maria Ann O'Brien from Quakers Yard knows only too well what | :17:57. | :18:02.
consequences diabetes can have. She's learning to walk again after | :18:03. | :18:06.
suffering the trauma of an amputation. What started as an | :18:06. | :18:15.
insignificant cut on her toe grew to an ulcerated infection. | :18:15. | :18:19.
That said that I could go in and out of hospital for the rest of my | :18:19. | :18:23.
life or have an amputation. I didn't have to think about it. I | :18:23. | :18:27.
knew that if I didn't have it done, I would either carry on as I am, | :18:27. | :18:32.
get worse and die. Did you ever believed it would come | :18:32. | :18:34.
to something so severe as losing a leg? | :18:34. | :18:40.
No. The father. You don't. You think, diabetes, you control it | :18:40. | :18:43.
through diet and everything else. Over the last six months I've been | :18:44. | :18:46.
trying to control my own diabetes through diet and exercise. Later | :18:46. | :18:50.
this week is my final weigh-in and my doctor tells me whether my hard | :18:50. | :18:55.
work has succeeded in reversing my diabetes. | :18:55. | :18:59.
Nick will be back with his results this Friday, and we'll hear from | :18:59. | :19:01.
the Health Minister on what government can do to tackle | :19:01. | :19:06.
diabetes. Is music sung in Welsh worth less | :19:06. | :19:10.
than music sung in English? That's the dispute at the heart of a three | :19:10. | :19:13.
day strike by musicians. They've described their royalties from BBC | :19:13. | :19:23.
A strike with a difference on Radio Cymru today. There was just as much | :19:23. | :19:26.
music as usual, but most of it came from live performances recorded by | :19:26. | :19:31.
the BBC rather than from CDs. The reason? Some Welsh language | :19:31. | :19:34.
composers and producers had asked the station not to broadcast their | :19:34. | :19:36.
songs because they're not happy with the amount of royalties | :19:36. | :19:43.
they're paid. Every year the BBC pays a sum of money to the | :19:43. | :19:46.
Performing Rights Society for the music played on its networks. That | :19:46. | :19:52.
money is distributed by the PRS according to a formula. A song | :19:52. | :19:55.
played on Radio Wales attracts 95 pence a minute for its composer and | :19:55. | :20:00.
producer, but one on Radio Cymru would only get 59 pence a minute. | :20:00. | :20:03.
What's more, once public performances such as in pubs are | :20:03. | :20:08.
taken into account, the difference is even more marked. That artist | :20:08. | :20:11.
will receive 150 from the PRS for a three minute song, but their | :20:11. | :20:20.
Welsh language equivalent would only get 5.75. | :20:20. | :20:24.
We have re-evaluated how we look at music in Wales and previously, we | :20:24. | :20:29.
weren't as accurate as we should have been. That change has meant | :20:29. | :20:33.
that certain music and certain people's repertoire is receiving | :20:33. | :20:36.
less royalties. Musicians and producers like Hywel | :20:37. | :20:40.
Wigley say the whole industry in Wales is under threat as they can't | :20:40. | :20:50.
:20:50. | :20:51. | ||
afford to continue producing and composing music at these rates. | :20:51. | :20:58.
I think they will have to look at the amount of money if they put to | :20:58. | :21:03.
Radio Cymru and bring it up to a level which would make this | :21:03. | :21:06.
industry sustainable. At present, it is not sustainable. | :21:06. | :21:09.
The BBC says it's doing all it can to ensure Welsh language musicians | :21:10. | :21:16.
get the royalties they deserve. We do have sympathy with the | :21:16. | :21:20.
musicians because we need to see that they can thrive and they can | :21:20. | :21:23.
produce new music so we do have sympathy and that is where we have | :21:23. | :21:29.
changed and amended our prayer list today. We have to put our listeners | :21:29. | :21:32.
first as a station and that is why we will continue to play their | :21:32. | :21:35.
music tomorrow and Wednesday. sides plan to meet in the new year | :21:35. | :21:39.
to discuss this issue, but the PRS says it would be difficult to alter | :21:39. | :21:41.
the formula and subsidise Welsh language music. That would mean | :21:41. | :21:43.
taking money away from the rest of its members. | :21:43. | :21:46.
Good evening. Time for tonight's sport. And I wonder what Wales' | :21:46. | :21:49.
regional rugby coaches want for Christmas? Bumper crowds over the | :21:49. | :21:52.
festive period would certainly help to try and lift the gloom that's | :21:52. | :21:55.
descended in recent days. Some pundits say the regional game is on | :21:55. | :21:58.
a knife-edge as more top players are attracted away from Wales by | :21:58. | :22:02.
big money offers. And the mood of pessimism wasn't helped by a | :22:02. | :22:12.
weekend of defeats in the Heineken So much for festive cheer. It has | :22:12. | :22:15.
been a miserable week for the Welsh regions with players leaving and | :22:15. | :22:20.
more expected to go. Also fears over the size of crowds. Four | :22:20. | :22:25.
defeats in Europe over the weekend seemed to capture the mood. The | :22:25. | :22:30.
Ospreys, of Dundee Welsh -- the best Welsh side in the Heineken Cup, | :22:30. | :22:34.
are all but out after suffering a defeat. | :22:34. | :22:38.
I think the reality is hitting home. We have lost a lot of players and | :22:38. | :22:43.
people departing to France. They have lost some of the call for | :22:43. | :22:48.
words in Alun Wyn Jones as well. They have been a little bit | :22:48. | :22:52.
depleted. It shows the level of the competition. | :22:52. | :22:56.
The Blues and the Scarlets can still make the last eight, with the | :22:56. | :22:59.
Blues are best placed. They top Pool Two and are hopeful of winning | :22:59. | :23:05.
their last matches in January to secured a quarter-final spot. It is | :23:05. | :23:09.
a tougher asked for the Scarlets after losing two former champions | :23:09. | :23:15.
Munster in Limerick. Llanelli did secured a losing bonus point which | :23:15. | :23:19.
could prove to be crucial. They hope to gain -- to gain maximum | :23:19. | :23:26.
points in their final two games. In Ireland, the crowd also provided a | :23:26. | :23:32.
sharp contrast. Crowds there are booming while the Ospreys played | :23:32. | :23:36.
their match in front of less than 7,000. It has been a similar story | :23:36. | :23:41.
at the other three regions. It is about creating an atmosphere. | :23:41. | :23:47.
The crowd and players rub off on each other. It is a catch 22 | :23:47. | :23:51.
situation. Ultimately, people will go a long if they feel they will be | :23:52. | :23:55.
entertained for the day. The Dragons are also in grave | :23:55. | :23:58.
danger of failing to make the quarter-finals in the Amlin | :23:58. | :24:02.
Challenge Cup after losing to Exeter. They will need to win their | :24:02. | :24:05.
remaining games and hope a rival slipped up if they are to progress. | :24:05. | :24:08.
Football and Swansea City have a busy time with four games in the | :24:08. | :24:11.
next 12 days. First to Goodison Park on Wednesday, still looking | :24:11. | :24:15.
for their first win away from home. They earned a point at Newcastle at | :24:15. | :24:18.
the weekend. While in the Championship, Cardiff City will | :24:18. | :24:27.
welcome a break of nine days after they went down 3-2 to Middlesbrough. | :24:27. | :24:32.
For Swansea manager, the search for the first away win goes on. | :24:32. | :24:37.
I really believe that we can do very well at this level. I think we | :24:37. | :24:42.
have shone throughout. Our home form is incredible but we need to | :24:42. | :24:47.
be better away from home. We have demonstrated we can be but we just | :24:47. | :24:53.
need to be consistent. I am still dreaming of a white | :24:53. | :25:03.
:25:03. | :25:05. | ||
I know some of you will be disappointed but I think we've seen | :25:05. | :25:08.
the last of the snow and frost for a while. It's turned milder today | :25:08. | :25:12.
and that's the story for the next few days. Milder with more rain on | :25:12. | :25:15.
the way. Mind you, I can promise some dry weather as well. That | :25:15. | :25:17.
should please Sue Jones from Pontyclun who is celebrating her | :25:17. | :25:21.
50th birthday! So here comes the mild air as shown by the yellow and | :25:21. | :25:25.
orange colours. Covering the whole of Britain and Ireland by Wednesday. | :25:25. | :25:28.
In fact on Wednesday we could temperatures rising as high as 12 | :25:28. | :25:31.
Celsius. A few degrees above the seasonal average. This evening a | :25:31. | :25:34.
dry start and the south should stay dry overnight. However a little | :25:34. | :25:37.
rain is likely in mid Wales and the north. Not as cold as recent nights. | :25:37. | :25:40.
Temperatures staying above freezing. So tomorrow morning I wouldn't rule | :25:40. | :25:43.
out the odd shower in the north otherwise a dry start for most of | :25:43. | :25:47.
us. Some patchy low cloud. Breezy on the west coast but not too cold. | :25:47. | :25:49.
Temperatures in Cardigan eight Celsius. So, plenty of dry weather | :25:49. | :25:52.
tomorrow. Bright for a time. A little sunshine but later in the | :25:52. | :25:55.
morning and during the afternoon cloud will increase with some rain | :25:55. | :26:01.
reaching the west by dusk. The wind easing with top temperatures around | :26:01. | :26:05.
eight Celsius which is about average. Tomorrow evening rain will | :26:05. | :26:10.
spread across the whole country. Mist and hill fog as well. The rain | :26:10. | :26:14.
easing later in the night. Wednesday mostly cloudy. The odd | :26:14. | :26:20.
spot of light rain or drizzle otherwise dry and very mild. 12 | :26:20. | :26:24.
Celsius in Wrexham. Thursday mild with moist south-westerly winds | :26:24. | :26:26.
bringing plenty of cloud. Thereafter a cold front will bring | :26:27. | :26:29.
some rain on Friday followed by brighter, slightly colder weather | :26:29. | :26:32.
and a few showers. Last year of course snow and ice caused major | :26:32. | :26:35.
travel problems during the Christmas holiday but that won't be | :26:35. | :26:39.
the case this year. At the moment, a green rather than white Christmas | :26:39. | :26:42.
looks much more likely. Christmas Day itself should be largely dry, | :26:42. | :26:45.
breezy and not too cold. I'm sure some of you will be relieved to | :26:45. | :26:47.
hear that. Time now for the children's | :26:47. | :26:50.
pictures. The first an angel by Lily Smith from Clydach Vale. The | :26:50. | :26:53.
next a snowman by Llewelyn John Parry from Pwllheli. And finally | :26:53. | :26:57.
Santa and his reindeer by Lucy Hill from Maesteg. Thanks, Lucy. I hope | :26:57. | :27:01.
you have a lovely Christmas. Less than a week to go until the big | :27:01. | :27:06.
And the main news again from the BBC. | :27:06. | :27:09.
The driver of a lorry, hit by a train on a level crossing, has been | :27:09. | :27:12.
arrested on suspicion of endangering safety. Some passengers | :27:12. | :27:15.
were injured in the crash near Whitland this morning. And on | :27:15. | :27:18.
tomorrow night's programme: Welsh black beef is one of our most | :27:18. | :27:21.
prestigious brands. We'll be reporting on concerns that other | :27:21. | :27:24.
beef is being passed off as Welsh black on menus, with premium prices | :27:24. | :27:27.
charged for something that just isn't the real thing. | :27:27. | :27:30. |
