Welcome to Wales Today. Tonight's headlines:

:00:02.:00:07.

Lance Sergeant Dan Collins hanged himself on New Year's Day. His

:00:07.:00:10.

partner describes the agony of his post-traumatic stress.

:00:10.:00:17.

He struggled. He struggled a lot. We all did the best we can. The

:00:17.:00:27.
:00:27.:00:35.

only comfort I've got is that now Also in the programme tonight:

:00:35.:00:39.

Wrapped up indoors to fight off the cold. A charity says families

:00:39.:00:43.

aren't getting the help they need to heat their homes.

:00:43.:00:46.

Can councils strapped for cash afford to run museums? Two are

:00:46.:00:55.

threatened with closure. The health board installing alarms

:00:55.:01:00.

to stub out smoking outside its hospitals.

:01:00.:01:03.

And more learner drivers could take their test closer to home if a new

:01:03.:01:13.
:01:13.:01:16.

The girlfriend of a soldier who killed himself on New Year's Day

:01:16.:01:19.

has been speaking openly about the problems he faced with post-

:01:19.:01:23.

traumatic stress. Lance Sergeant Dan Collins, from Tiers Cross near

:01:23.:01:27.

Haverfordwest, hanged himself at a quarry in North Pembrokeshire.

:01:27.:01:30.

Vicky Roach told Wales Today she would like to see more help for

:01:30.:01:33.

charities that deal with the mental scars soldiers face. Abigail Neal

:01:33.:01:38.

reports. Lance Sergeant Dan Collins had a

:01:38.:01:42.

remarkable story to tell. As a Welsh Guard in Afghanistan, he

:01:42.:01:46.

escaped death four times. Shot twice and involved in two bomb

:01:46.:01:56.
:01:56.:01:59.

blasts. Three days ago, tortured by his experiences, he hanged himself.

:01:59.:02:04.

What happened on Sunday was not the first attempt. It has been really

:02:04.:02:14.

tough. Seeing in try a few times and obviously the lead he has felt

:02:14.:02:17.

for everyone and the strength he had inside him and pulled him

:02:18.:02:21.

through. Lance Sergeant Collins took part in

:02:21.:02:24.

Operation Panther's Claw in Helmand Province in 2009. During that tour

:02:24.:02:27.

of duty, he was shot in the back, but miraculously survived because

:02:27.:02:32.

of his body armour. He later got his wish of buying the man who

:02:32.:02:42.

designed that armour a pint to say thanks. I would not be here today

:02:42.:02:48.

if it was not for you and your team. But behind the smiles lay a dark

:02:48.:02:50.

reality. Lance Sergeant Collins had lost his best friend Lance Corporal

:02:50.:02:54.

Dane Elson during that tour of duty, and when he returned home, it

:02:54.:02:55.

haunted him. There were the nightmares and

:02:55.:03:05.

screams. He was shouting out for help. That obviously worried me.

:03:05.:03:09.

That is when I suggested he got some help.

:03:09.:03:12.

For nearly a year and a half, Dan Collins struggled with post-

:03:12.:03:14.

traumatic stress. Seeking help and receiving counselling, but nothing

:03:14.:03:18.

seemed to get through. He remained a committed rugby fan, playing for

:03:18.:03:21.

Haverfordwest and relishing the time he met his hero Shane Williams.

:03:21.:03:25.

His best friend told me he was in the process of being discharged

:03:25.:03:32.

from the army and had been hoping to retrain as a fitness instructor.

:03:32.:03:39.

When he was good, he was very good. He would be the life and soul.

:03:39.:03:44.

Always smiling. Playing pranks on people. He was not always depressed.

:03:45.:03:48.

Those who loved him have watched a man struggle daily with what he

:03:48.:03:51.

experienced. Now they want more support for one charity set up to

:03:51.:04:01.
:04:01.:04:02.

help. The charity, a Welsh charity for so tears, tree -- deals with

:04:02.:04:09.

problems like postal mastic stress and more mental issues. -- post

:04:09.:04:14.

traumatic stress. If we could save one soldier, it would mean the

:04:14.:04:17.

world to us. Well, I'm joined by Falklands

:04:17.:04:27.
:04:27.:04:27.

veteran Simon Weston. What is your view on whether there is enough

:04:27.:04:32.

help around? The biggest problem we have got is that there does not

:04:32.:04:39.

seem to be a very good signpost. He was clearly getting help. But the

:04:39.:04:43.

sad fact was that he was not getting the right help. Clearly, it

:04:43.:04:48.

did not work. We have to find a way of not relying on the NHS to

:04:49.:04:53.

provide the care. Men who have been in the forces do not always respond

:04:53.:04:57.

to civilians who know nothing about what they have seen. They need

:04:57.:05:02.

somebody who can be more empathetic as well as sympathetic. They are

:05:02.:05:06.

not looking for sympathy, they are looking for understanding and

:05:06.:05:11.

coping strategies. This man was living a nightmare when he was a

:05:12.:05:15.

way come when he was asleep, he had no control. You said that people

:05:15.:05:20.

are not getting the right help. What about the military? Do you

:05:20.:05:25.

feel it is giving enough help? There is an awful lot of issues

:05:25.:05:29.

around the military itself. The military, if you get help for

:05:29.:05:32.

mental health problems, the big problem is that it can blight your

:05:32.:05:37.

career. He lot of men do not present as quickly as they should.

:05:37.:05:41.

If he was getting the right sort of help, this would not have been an

:05:41.:05:48.

eventuality. There is help. Whether we can get people signposted to the

:05:48.:05:53.

right places, where they will be able to deliver their lives as

:05:53.:05:58.

happy as they possibly can. It is debatable. By supper did for a long

:05:58.:06:02.

time. But I was very lucky that something else brought it out of me.

:06:03.:06:06.

But it can be something you can live with. But for some people, it

:06:06.:06:11.

just goes too far, too deep and it cannot be stopped. The eventual

:06:11.:06:16.

outcome, we saw so many people who took their own lives. It is

:06:16.:06:21.

something that has happened. At least we are aware of it now.

:06:21.:06:24.

Parents in Wales who can't afford to heat their homes aren't getting

:06:24.:06:27.

the help they need from energy suppliers. That's according to the

:06:27.:06:31.

charity Save The Children. It found more than 45,000 families here are

:06:31.:06:35.

able to apply for a discount, but most are missing out. The big

:06:36.:06:38.

energy firms say they've already spent millions helping their most

:06:38.:06:43.

vulnerable customers. Carwyn Jones reports.

:06:43.:06:47.

Wrapping up warm for the winter in their own living room. Paul and

:06:47.:06:51.

Vanessa Ives make a daily choice between heating and eating. They've

:06:51.:06:54.

an annual income of just under 12,000 and struggle to pay the

:06:54.:06:58.

fuel costs for their council house in Ebbw Vale. What's even more

:06:59.:07:01.

worrying for them is that their eldest son Joe, who's six, has

:07:02.:07:05.

asthma, and both children have to live in a house that's often cold

:07:05.:07:15.
:07:15.:07:16.

and mouldy. I put the heating on for them, especially my youngest

:07:16.:07:23.

son. He is more prone to get ill quicker. It is very worrying. I

:07:23.:07:26.

cannot put the heating on. It's families like the Ives that

:07:27.:07:29.

are losing out this winter, according to the charity Save The

:07:29.:07:32.

Children. It says some of the poorest families in Wales are

:07:32.:07:35.

entitled to a discount on their fuel bills, but energy companies

:07:35.:07:38.

should be doing more to tell people about it and to make the discount

:07:38.:07:45.

more readily available to those who desperately need it. Power

:07:45.:07:48.

companies need to make good on their commitment and their promises

:07:48.:07:54.

and make sure the money is there to help families and know that these

:07:54.:07:58.

families know how to apply a for that money. It is no good if you do

:07:58.:08:02.

not know how to go about accessing The new research by Save the

:08:03.:08:05.

Children reveals that more than 45,000 families with children in

:08:05.:08:08.

Wales are eligible for the Warm Home Discount. This gives low-

:08:08.:08:10.

income families and those receiving certain benefits a 120 rebate on

:08:11.:08:14.

their fuel bills. But fewer than one in ten people have considered

:08:14.:08:19.

applying for it because they simply don't know it exists. If you're a

:08:19.:08:21.

low-income family, knowing what you're entitled to can be a

:08:21.:08:24.

confusing picture. Many families already receive the cold weather

:08:25.:08:31.

payment. 25 paid automatically after seven days of severe weather.

:08:31.:08:34.

But that doesn't mean to say you automatically qualify for the Warm

:08:34.:08:38.

Homes Discount of 120. That's for the energy companies to decide and

:08:38.:08:47.

the consumer to find out. In many circumstances, they would have to

:08:47.:08:51.

apply for Rhett and thereafter cut- offs. Some companies say

:08:51.:08:55.

applications have to be in by the end of January, otherwise they will

:08:55.:08:58.

not pay out. Do not let this money go to waste.

:08:58.:09:01.

The UK's big energy firms say they've already spent over 180

:09:01.:09:04.

million to help their most vulnerable customers and more money

:09:04.:09:07.

will be put aside for the winters to come, which will benefit a wider

:09:07.:09:12.

group of people. But that support might not come in time for the Ives,

:09:12.:09:17.

who are bracing themselves for a cold winter in their own home.

:09:17.:09:21.

The driver of a car crushed after strong winds caused a tree to fall

:09:21.:09:25.

on it is lucky to be alive. That's according to a former firefighter

:09:25.:09:29.

who was one of the first on the scene. It happened on the A487 in

:09:29.:09:31.

Eglwysfach between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth yesterday morning. The

:09:31.:09:40.

road was closed for two hours as emergency services cleared the area.

:09:40.:09:45.

Luckily, when we got there, the driver was out of the vehicle. If

:09:45.:09:49.

he had gone another foot forward, it probably would have been a

:09:49.:09:54.

different situation. He could have possibly been killed. This time, he

:09:54.:10:00.

was very lucky. There was a lot of weight in that tree. It's quashed

:10:00.:10:05.

the car down to its suspension. He was a lucky man.

:10:05.:10:09.

It was given to the people of Llanelli in 1912 by Sir Stafford

:10:09.:10:11.

and Lady Howard Stepney, but now Parc Howard, together with

:10:11.:10:14.

Camarthenshire's county museum in Abergwili, could face closure. The

:10:14.:10:17.

council, which is reviewing the costs of all its services, says

:10:17.:10:22.

such a move could save 150,000. But friends of the museums say the

:10:22.:10:27.

proposals are flawed. Caroline Evans reports.

:10:27.:10:33.

Here, they'll tell you it is the jewel in the crown of Llanelli. So

:10:33.:10:36.

proposals to close the Parc Howard Museum have come as a shock,

:10:36.:10:38.

particularly as in the last few years, they've spent thousands

:10:38.:10:48.

restoring the building and opening up disabled access. It is very

:10:48.:10:58.

important. It is the only have Museum in Llanelli. Also, what is

:10:58.:11:01.

demonstrated inside the mansion is of immense historical significance.

:11:02.:11:07.

There is a lot of historical stuff that is not on display that could

:11:07.:11:10.

be displayed. It is one of two museums now under

:11:10.:11:13.

threat in Camarthenshire. The other, the county museum, also has its

:11:13.:11:16.

supporters who question how much money closing the facility would

:11:16.:11:26.
:11:26.:11:28.

actually save. It would be a travesty. To preserve that, the

:11:28.:11:30.

local authority would have to preserve it in a very particular

:11:30.:11:37.

way, all the artefacts that are inside it. If they were to do that

:11:37.:11:41.

properly, there would not be much of a saving by closing the museum.

:11:41.:11:44.

The exhibits may be historically important, but unlike services like

:11:44.:11:47.

education or social services, the council does not have a legal

:11:47.:11:54.

responsibility to fund them. council has to list these

:11:54.:11:59.

priorities. We all realise that it is a difficult time, but money is

:11:59.:12:05.

are available. Grants are available. It is for us to decide which

:12:05.:12:09.

organisations and institutions we want to keep. Definitely, as far as

:12:09.:12:13.

the museum goes, that will be very high on our list.

:12:13.:12:16.

The decision is far from made. The council says its officers are

:12:16.:12:18.

merely suggesting where savings could be found. But at Parc Howard,

:12:18.:12:22.

the news has already spoiled a good start to what was expected to be a

:12:22.:12:26.

glorious year, the park's centenary year.

:12:26.:12:30.

Still to come in the programme: Digging in the archives for diaries

:12:30.:12:34.

of the past. Now people on Anglesey are being asked to record 2012 for

:12:34.:12:37.

future generations. And Wales has already been battered

:12:37.:12:47.
:12:47.:12:53.

Hospitals in north Wales have taken a new approach to getting the

:12:53.:12:58.

message across that smoking is bad for you. Anyone who like supply of

:12:58.:13:02.

the entrance to the region's main hospitals would hear a recording

:13:02.:13:06.

telling them smoking is banned. The local health board is the first to

:13:06.:13:16.
:13:16.:13:22.

turn to the Tom -- to turn to the The widening smoking ban means

:13:22.:13:26.

scenes like this should soon be a thing of the past. It is already

:13:26.:13:29.

forbidden to smoke anywhere on these grounds and there are plenty

:13:29.:13:33.

of signs spelling out that message but, from now on, everybody who

:13:33.:13:38.

does light up should get a very clear and public reminder of that

:13:38.:13:47.

message. We wish to remind you that this is a no-smoking area. It is

:13:47.:13:51.

not full proved a though. These smokers manage to enjoy a a

:13:51.:13:54.

cigarette just yards from the speaker without triggering its

:13:54.:13:59.

disapproval. And they are not alone in questioning is a total ban his

:13:59.:14:06.

affair. It is a good idea because of people going in and out. But

:14:06.:14:11.

they should have somewhere on rainy days like this for people to hide

:14:11.:14:16.

away and have a cigarette. I think it is a good idea. It is very

:14:16.:14:22.

unpleasant sometimes. I think it is better there because you should not

:14:22.:14:27.

be smoking with the patients are coming out but I didn't realise. It

:14:27.:14:37.
:14:37.:14:41.

is a bit windy outside. With each of the messages, the health board

:14:41.:14:46.

accepts placing a total ban will not be possible. The loudspeaker

:14:46.:14:48.

messages are part of a comprehensive approach we are

:14:48.:14:53.

taking to a high-profile campaign to stop smoking. We are giving a

:14:53.:14:57.

clear message that smoking anywhere on the premises is not what we want.

:14:57.:15:01.

We know that the mob -- majority of people thinks looking around

:15:01.:15:04.

hospital entrances is not acceptable when you are coming to

:15:05.:15:10.

hospital to get better. Other health boards have also introduced

:15:10.:15:15.

a total smoking ban on hospital premises. They may not all

:15:15.:15:19.

installed the new alarm but the message is the same. Smoking and

:15:19.:15:23.

hospitals do not mix. A man jailed for murdering a

:15:23.:15:25.

Pontardawe couple honeymooning in Antigua has stabbed a fellow

:15:25.:15:30.

prisoner. Kaniel Martin was one of two men convicted of shooting Ben

:15:30.:15:33.

and Catherine Mullany at their hotel on the island in 2008.

:15:33.:15:36.

The Accident and Emergency Unit at Llanelli's Prince Philip Hospital,

:15:36.:15:38.

which could be downgraded under new proposals, is being by-passed by

:15:38.:15:44.

the Ambulance Service. That's the claim tonight from the local AM.

:15:44.:15:46.

Figures obtained by Labour's Keith Davies suggest patients are being

:15:46.:15:51.

sent to Carmarthen or Swansea instead. The Hywel Dda Health Board

:15:51.:15:53.

says proposals to change hospital services across West Wales are

:15:53.:16:03.
:16:03.:16:03.

being discussed at the moment. More people in Wales may be able to

:16:03.:16:06.

take their driving test locally if a pilot scheme in Barry is

:16:06.:16:10.

successful. The test centre there closed nearly two years ago but has

:16:10.:16:13.

now partly reopened. It's not the same story in other parts of Wales

:16:13.:16:20.

though, as Rhodri Lewis reports. This man has been a driving stutter

:16:21.:16:24.

in Barry for 12 years but since the local test centre closed, he has

:16:24.:16:28.

had to take pupils to Cardiff for lessons which has been time-

:16:28.:16:32.

consuming and expensive. It has been very difficult with the

:16:32.:16:35.

travelling back and forth to Cardiff Bay. People struggle to pay

:16:35.:16:41.

for extra lessons. We have had to do a two-hour lesson instead of an

:16:41.:16:49.

hour. I teach them in Barry and then we take them into Cardiff as

:16:49.:16:54.

they come closer to their Test. But they were struggling to be able to

:16:54.:16:59.

afford to pay for the lessons. the minister says Barry will reopen

:16:59.:17:03.

part time to see if there is sufficient demand from the

:17:03.:17:07.

community for tests closer to home. I want to bring testing back into

:17:07.:17:10.

the community. I think it is wrong that we are forcing people to go

:17:10.:17:15.

miles away from where they live. This is the first pilot in Wales

:17:15.:17:20.

and I wanted to see whether it is working. For but pupils in other

:17:20.:17:23.

parts of Wales still face long journeys to practise their driving.

:17:23.:17:29.

They have had to go to Wrexham or even across the border to Chester

:17:29.:17:34.

since their centre closed. It is great for Barry. To say we're

:17:34.:17:44.

jealous is an understatement. We are hoping the body opened a rise

:17:44.:17:49.

of it and realise we are struggling because of this. But there is some

:17:50.:17:54.

hope. The minister says he will consider reopened more centres in

:17:54.:17:59.

Wales if the pilot in Barry is successful.

:18:00.:18:03.

We're a few days into 2012 but what does the year hold for Welsh

:18:03.:18:06.

politics? For the Welsh Government, it will provide an opportunity to

:18:07.:18:09.

put lawmaking plans into action. And there'll be at least one new

:18:10.:18:13.

leader of a Welsh party. But spending cuts and the prospect of

:18:13.:18:15.

regional pay could lead to further industrial action. Mark Hannaby has

:18:15.:18:17.

been looking at what might lie ahead.

:18:17.:18:19.

2012 should see the Welsh government using its new law-making

:18:19.:18:24.

powers. Ministers have promised a Bill introducing presumed consent

:18:24.:18:29.

for organ donation. But one expert in devolution law says their

:18:29.:18:34.

obstacles to be overcome is that is to become law. She says the

:18:34.:18:37.

government may need to guarantee families are legal say over the

:18:37.:18:44.

donation of organs to record with human rights. If guarantees are

:18:45.:18:50.

giving so -- given such as the involvement of families, special

:18:50.:18:53.

provision may include children and incapable people. That would

:18:53.:18:59.

guarantee that this will comply with the European rights.

:18:59.:19:03.

lacking an overall majority, the Labour government needed a deal

:19:03.:19:08.

with the bowlines to pass its programme. Might Labour formate

:19:08.:19:13.

block -- a coalition with another party during 2012? I don't think

:19:14.:19:17.

there is any case made for a coalition and I don't think any

:19:17.:19:22.

other party would feel that is the case either. Late 2011 saw strike

:19:22.:19:29.

action over public sector cuts. There could be further unrest ahead

:19:29.:19:35.

as the prospect of possible regional pay adds to workers's woes.

:19:35.:19:38.

Unless there is a change in approach from the UK government,

:19:38.:19:43.

unions will not stand idly by. It is a last resort for us and we

:19:43.:19:47.

don't take to it likely 30th November showed there we can

:19:47.:19:52.

organise that mass action. May well see elections to choose local

:19:52.:20:01.

councillors. Much attention will focus on whether the Liberal-

:20:01.:20:05.

Democrats will do well and what that might mean for the UK's

:20:05.:20:10.

Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government. If they

:20:11.:20:15.

perform poorly and that is part of a general overall poor performance

:20:15.:20:19.

in the council elections from the Liberal-Democrats, that is going to

:20:19.:20:26.

put particular strain on Nick Clegg and the coalition as a whole.

:20:26.:20:30.

Cymru will elect a leader to succeed Ieuan Wyn Jones in March.

:20:30.:20:39.

It will go to the top of the agenda. Plaid Cymru, I think, would be wise

:20:45.:20:52.

to go with that flow. It is their party's core aim and I think they

:20:52.:20:56.

need to be quite honest about it and bring it up front. That will

:20:56.:21:00.

give them a unique selling brand, that differentiation from other

:21:00.:21:06.

parties. At the first election of a police commissioners to the list,

:21:06.:21:09.

it is clear there is a fair amount to be decided in the next 12 months,

:21:09.:21:13.

but it is often the case that the fascinating events in any year are

:21:14.:21:18.

the ones you don't see coming. The Football Association of Wales

:21:18.:21:21.

will stage an international match next month in memory of the late

:21:21.:21:25.

national manager Gary Speed. Wales will play Costa Rica at the Cardiff

:21:25.:21:28.

City Stadium on February 29th, a repeat of the fixture in 1990 where

:21:28.:21:34.

Speed made his international debut as a player. The game will be

:21:34.:21:40.

Wales' first since Speed took his own life in November.

:21:40.:21:43.

People on Anglesey are being encouraged to give the future a

:21:43.:21:47.

window on their lives today. And it's being done through personal

:21:47.:21:51.

diaries. The Anglesey Archive wants islanders to keep a diary of life

:21:52.:21:56.

in 2012. At the end of the year the journals will be stored so they can

:21:56.:21:59.

be looked at and studied by future generations. Roger Pinney's been

:21:59.:22:09.
:22:09.:22:16.

finding out more. Wednesday, 4th January. It is very

:22:16.:22:22.

windy. Jasmine and Thomas are getting into it, as are the rest of

:22:22.:22:28.

their class. One of two schools who have signed up to the Diary project.

:22:28.:22:34.

These children will be chronicling their daily lives from -- for the

:22:34.:22:42.

next 12 months. What games we play and what the weather is.

:22:42.:22:46.

weather, because then they can compare it to the same day 50 years

:22:46.:22:51.

on to see if it has changed. And it is about charting how our lives

:22:52.:22:56.

changed. The children will be playing into Anglesey's rich

:22:56.:23:00.

history from neolithic burial chambers, shipwrecks, the marquess

:23:00.:23:07.

who lost a leg at Waterloo to everything that is happening now.

:23:07.:23:13.

The idea has come from Pat West, head of the Anglesey archive. She

:23:13.:23:17.

has received some diaries written a century ago by members of a

:23:17.:23:22.

prominent local family who had emigrated to Australia. But the

:23:22.:23:26.

2012 project is not about the rich and famous, it is the lives of more

:23:26.:23:32.

ordinary folk. We have got diaries from farming people, all kinds of

:23:32.:23:36.

diaries from centuries gone by. What we are looking for now is for

:23:36.:23:40.

the people of Anglesey to take part in keeping diaries so we get a

:23:40.:23:46.

snapshot of what life is like in 2012 on Anglesey. This woman is

:23:46.:23:50.

another of those taking part. It is an interesting history that

:23:50.:23:53.

motivates her and the chance to handsome thing on to those who come

:23:53.:23:59.

after. We are all having to hand write them and future generations

:23:59.:24:03.

will be able to open them, read and have a snapshot of what life on

:24:03.:24:10.

Anglesey was like, whatever our profession was and whatever we did.

:24:10.:24:17.

Their children and grandchildren of the rightist perhaps. Diary writing

:24:17.:24:22.

is something new for these children but it is not for the school. This

:24:22.:24:26.

is a log book from the school and exactly 50 years ago today, the

:24:26.:24:31.

school should have reopened for the new term. It did not because of

:24:31.:24:35.

burst pipes. History has not repeated itself.

:24:35.:24:45.

Well, Derek, are we over the worst The best places tonight is indoors.

:24:45.:24:48.

I'm sure many people in Abergwili are fed-up with the rain,

especially the football club. Miriam Weston sent this picture to

me on Twitter. The football pitch under water. The reason for the

:24:57.:25:02.

stormy weather is the jet stream. A ribbon of strong winds high in the

:25:02.:25:08.

atmosphere. It's right on top of Britain tonight and so we're in for

:25:08.:25:12.

the firing line for lots of wind and rain. There is a Met Office

:25:12.:25:16.

warning in force. 40mm to 60mm of rain likely on high ground in Mid

:25:16.:25:19.

Wales and the north. That's around two inches with a risk of some

:25:19.:25:23.

flooding. At the moment, there is one flood warning in force on the

:25:23.:25:26.

River Dee from Llangollen to Chester and six flood alerts. So,

:25:26.:25:31.

tonight, wet and windy. Some heavy rain. Strong to gale force winds.

:25:31.:25:36.

Severe gales on some coasts and hills. Wind gusts of 55mph to 65mph.

:25:36.:25:40.

Lowest temperatures six to eight degrees Celsius. Now, by eight in

:25:40.:25:44.

the morning, most of the rain will have cleared, but still a lot of

:25:44.:25:51.

water on the ground. Very windy too. Pembrokeshire should be dry. Still

:25:51.:25:57.

some rain in the south-east. Much drier in Mid Wales and the north

:25:57.:26:00.

but with a few blustery showers. Strong to severe gale force winds

:26:00.:26:03.

as well. Gusts of 70mph on the north coast and Lleyn Peninsula.

:26:03.:26:06.

During the morning, the rain in the south will clear. Turning drier and

:26:06.:26:09.

brighter. A little sunshine but a few showers. Mainly in parts of

:26:09.:26:12.

Powys and the north, including Flintshire and Deeside. Top

:26:12.:26:14.

temperatures between eight and ten degrees Celsius. Feeling colder in

:26:14.:26:17.

the wind. The wind strong to gale force, easing during the afternoon.

:26:17.:26:20.

Tomorrow night will be dry. The wind moderating and a colder night.

:26:20.:26:23.

Temperatures inland falling as low as two degrees Celsius with a

:26:23.:26:27.

ground frost in places. Friday will start dry. Bright for a time but

:26:28.:26:32.

clouding over during the afternoon with spots of rain. Less windy on

:26:32.:26:37.

Friday. As for the weekend, a damp start on Saturday, but becoming dry

:26:37.:26:42.

and brighter. A little sunshine. Sunday could turn out dry as well

:26:42.:26:46.

with moderate to fresh winds. In the meantime, rough weather tonight.

:26:46.:26:50.

Heavy rain and gales. Turning drier and brighter tomorrow, but very

:26:50.:26:57.

The headlines again: The men who murdered Stephen

:26:57.:27:01.

Lawrence have been sentenced. Gary Dobson will serve at least 15 years

:27:01.:27:05.

and David Norris will be behind bars for a minimum of 14 years. The

And the girlfriend of a soldier who killed himself on New Year's Day

has been speaking openly about the problems he faced with Post
