Welcome to Wales Today. Tonight's headlines: | :00:02. | :00:07.
Plans to redraw the political map of Wales. The number of MPs would | :00:07. | :00:16.
be reduced from 40 to 30. If they are less MPs, you have less to pay | :00:16. | :00:25.
out. In one sense it is better. But then, the MPs have bigger areas to | :00:25. | :00:35.
:00:35. | :00:36. | ||
Also in the programme tonight: Behind the bands - the school | :00:36. | :00:40.
scores that reveal the position of your child's comprehensive. | :00:40. | :00:43.
Mother of two Tracey Sheen died after she and her husband put a | :00:43. | :00:53.
barbecue inside their tent. A warning tonight about the dangers | :00:53. | :00:59.
of carbon dioxide. And blooming early - the mild | :00:59. | :01:01.
winter weather brings out the flowers, more than double the | :01:01. | :01:11.
:01:11. | :01:12. | ||
Good evening. It's the biggest shake up of the political map for | :01:12. | :01:17.
nearly 70 years, and will force some MPs out of a job. Today, plans | :01:17. | :01:19.
have been unveiled to reduce the number of constituencies in Wales | :01:19. | :01:25.
from 40 to 30. Each will have around 75,000 voters. The plans | :01:26. | :01:28.
will only affect elections for Westminster. Assembly | :01:28. | :01:32.
constituencies stay the same. Some of the more eye-catching changes | :01:32. | :01:36.
include in the South - parts of Caerphilly are joined in a new seat | :01:36. | :01:41.
with Cardiff North. In the West, South and West Pembrokeshire come | :01:41. | :01:44.
together, and a new seat of Caerfyrddin is created for | :01:44. | :01:48.
Carmarthen. And in the North, Anglesey and part of Arfon join to | :01:48. | :01:55.
become Menai ac Ynys Mon. Now, you're able to have your say | :01:55. | :01:58.
on the plans and we'll be getting reaction from around the country. | :01:58. | :02:02.
Roger Pinney is in Beaumaris for us tonight. Our parliamentary | :02:02. | :02:07.
correspondent David Cornock is in Westminster. Hywel Griffith is in | :02:07. | :02:09.
Caerphilly, where parts of the constituency could merge with | :02:09. | :02:19.
:02:19. | :02:20. | ||
Cardiff North. Hywel, what does that mean for the seat? Of quelled, | :02:20. | :02:25.
to ditch any, the Labour vote has been as solid as the walls of the | :02:25. | :02:29.
castle behind me. However, if it combines with Cardiff North, that | :02:29. | :02:32.
is currently held by the Conservatives. It would make this | :02:32. | :02:37.
seat far less come -- predictable come the next election in 2015. | :02:37. | :02:40.
Labour, as well as the other parties, are having to consider | :02:40. | :02:45.
these plans very carefully tonight. Some MPs are considering their | :02:45. | :02:50.
political future. Let's take a look at the picture across Wales with | :02:50. | :02:57.
this report. It will be the biggest change for over 67 years. A new law | :02:57. | :03:01.
means a higher number of voters in each seat so 10 fewer | :03:01. | :03:07.
constituencies in Wales. They haven't been any political | :03:07. | :03:11.
considerations. The commission looks at existing boundaries of | :03:11. | :03:17.
local authorities, constituencies and also considers local ties and | :03:17. | :03:25.
community links in particular areas. Anglesey will join the mainline. | :03:25. | :03:30.
Plaid Cymru might be concern about the disappearance of a certain | :03:30. | :03:34.
seats where they regularly challenged. Success for Labour MPs | :03:34. | :03:44.
:03:44. | :03:48. | ||
know there will be less seas for them to compete with. The proposal | :03:48. | :03:53.
is bad news for Wales. It sees Welsh representation being reduced | :03:53. | :04:01.
by 25% and that can only be bad for Wales is in tears in the UK. Voters | :04:01. | :04:09.
he had mixed views of being part of a new seat. Caerphilly and Cardiff | :04:09. | :04:16.
North. I think it is bringing more people together, isn't it? | :04:17. | :04:21.
Caerphilly is Caerphilly and Cardiff is Cardiff so they are two | :04:21. | :04:24.
separate areas. In south-east Wales, the Cardiff region will lose one | :04:24. | :04:29.
seat. The Liberal Democrats might be concerned that their powerhouse | :04:29. | :04:34.
of Cardiff Central might be no more. Will they be as strong? At the | :04:35. | :04:43.
other end of South Wales, other seats would go as well. It's might | :04:43. | :04:51.
worry this current MP. Part of his seat would go into the new seat. | :04:51. | :04:54.
The sheer size of some proposed constituency has got some people | :04:55. | :05:00.
talking. No more so than in New Town which will be under South | :05:00. | :05:04.
powers which covers an area of nearly 4,000 square kilometres. | :05:04. | :05:09.
They should get more MPs, they should find more MPs for different | :05:09. | :05:13.
locations and all that, spread them out and they should do something | :05:13. | :05:18.
about the towns. One Lib Dem have already represents a large | :05:18. | :05:25.
constituency isn't boring. People would be put off because the seeds | :05:25. | :05:29.
are bigger. If the interests of wares are at heart, plenty of | :05:29. | :05:33.
people want to represent them. names of the new constituencies | :05:33. | :05:40.
will also cause debates. The public consultation on the proposals will | :05:40. | :05:46.
continue until April 4th. The final recommendations will have to be | :05:46. | :05:54.
made by October 2013. Here in North Wales, the proposed changes are | :05:54. | :06:00.
just as dramatic. I'm in Beaumaris. For many years, it Haydon Bridge | :06:00. | :06:08.
had its own representation. But Anglesey has had its own MP for the | :06:08. | :06:17.
best part of 500 years. Today, I travelled across North Wales | :06:17. | :06:22.
gauging reaction. Politics used to be such a simple process. When it | :06:23. | :06:32.
for the first built Haydon Bridge Castle,... Crucially, as far as | :06:32. | :06:36.
this is concerned, how many voters are needed to his send a | :06:36. | :06:43.
representative to Parliament? On Anglesey, recent political history | :06:43. | :06:48.
has been chequered. Plaid Cymru took the seats from the Tories | :06:48. | :06:52.
before losing it to Labour. The constituency has always been | :06:52. | :06:58.
defined by its geography. Now, it may fall victim to the numbers game. | :06:58. | :07:03.
Too small to stand alone. A merger is proposed with parts of a | :07:03. | :07:06.
neighbouring town, a process that will see bigger seats with more | :07:06. | :07:13.
voters. My constituency has been halved. As far as the new quiz is | :07:13. | :07:20.
concerned, it is an enormous constituency. It goes from the sea | :07:20. | :07:26.
in the north to meet Wales. Serve in that constituency will be quite | :07:26. | :07:33.
a challenge, just in driving around. Along the coast, another castle. | :07:33. | :07:37.
This has seen a few political our peoples over the years. There is | :07:37. | :07:42.
nothing new about Alton the size, the shape or even the name of | :07:42. | :07:46.
parliamentary constituencies. This old town was once part of another | :07:47. | :07:51.
constituency, represented by David Lloyd George. Over time, it has | :07:51. | :07:58.
been known by other names. So, what is in an end? Now, the proposal is | :07:59. | :08:08.
:08:09. | :08:09. | ||
to call it north coast Wales. A case here of two into one won't go. | :08:09. | :08:18.
The questioner put to local people, what matters most? The person doing | :08:18. | :08:27.
the job. Size is not everything., definitely, the case of quality. | :08:27. | :08:37.
:08:37. | :08:38. | ||
The local MP is based over there. He is just there. A single MP could | :08:38. | :08:46.
not... The electric... We are just trying to make sure that every MP | :08:46. | :08:51.
roughly speaking reserve the same out of constituencies. In Wales, | :08:51. | :08:58.
that means 10 will lose their jobs. At this end of North Wales, it is a | :08:58. | :09:03.
Labour seat which disappears. What about this issue of Wales losing 10 | :09:04. | :09:07.
MPs? A quarter of our parliamentarians made redundant. | :09:07. | :09:17.
:09:17. | :09:18. | ||
Don't you feel sorry that 10 Welsh MPs will be losing their jobs? | :09:18. | :09:26.
So, no sympathy at all? No. I've lost my job, nobody has sympathy | :09:26. | :09:30.
for me. Politics is a fickle business. Edward the first lodged | :09:30. | :09:34.
his forays into Wales from the city of Chester. The government was so | :09:34. | :09:44.
:09:44. | :09:47. | ||
much simpler then. Let's hear from some of the MPs. I'm joined by two | :09:47. | :09:50.
members of the endangered species that is the Welsh member of | :09:50. | :09:56.
parliament. Are you going to miss being aired -- an MP? After | :09:56. | :10:01.
personal level, Montgomeryshire is a seat that I laugh and we worked | :10:01. | :10:04.
very hard to make it a seat. There is that element of personal | :10:04. | :10:08.
discipline that. I shall be looking to put my name forward in one of | :10:08. | :10:14.
the other seats when the boundaries are finally decided. He says it is | :10:14. | :10:18.
disappointing but it is your government? It is not a great | :10:18. | :10:21.
surprise. It is pretty much as I expected. I knew my constituency | :10:21. | :10:26.
was in danger of being split up as soon as the Bill was passed. We | :10:26. | :10:32.
fought the general election and for the people of Britain wanted fewer | :10:32. | :10:38.
politicians, wanted democracy to be less expensive. We implemented what | :10:38. | :10:44.
we said after the election. This is the consequence. This is a | :10:44. | :10:48.
consequence of the government and the Prime Minister should be | :10:48. | :10:51.
defending her policy of deliberately deciding to short | :10:51. | :10:56.
changed Wales. It is not just Labour MPs which are going. Tory | :10:56. | :11:00.
MPs are losing their seats. They are spitting blood behind us in the | :11:00. | :11:04.
House of Commons. They are all moaning about it, as are the | :11:04. | :11:11.
Liberal Democrat sits. They should be saying, saved Wales's voice in | :11:11. | :11:17.
Parliament. I hope the MPs will see sense among his comebacks to the | :11:17. | :11:21.
Commons, keep the number of MPs that Wales has is that of a quarter | :11:21. | :11:25.
losing. Whatever a party, we have a duty to speak for Wales, whatever | :11:25. | :11:30.
our party. I am angry because of the effect of individual MPs and | :11:30. | :11:35.
because Waleses in this is being cut. We did see it like that was | :11:35. | :11:40.
stop we have had these days for months. We delivered a fair result, | :11:40. | :11:44.
we delivered the result we promised before the election and the has | :11:44. | :11:49.
surpassed that Bill and today is it fair consequence by an independent | :11:49. | :11:57.
body. And for a full breakdown of how the | :11:57. | :12:01.
planned changes affect where you live, visit bbc.co.uk/walesnews. | :12:01. | :12:04.
BBC Wales can today reveal the exact scores for every one of our | :12:04. | :12:07.
secondary schools - the scores used to calculate their banding under | :12:07. | :12:10.
the Welsh Government's controversial new system. The | :12:10. | :12:12.
information gives parents further detail on the position of their | :12:12. | :12:17.
children's schools. Ysgol Tryfan in Bangor gets the best score, as our | :12:17. | :12:21.
education correspondent, Nicola Smith, reports. | :12:21. | :12:24.
Since December last year, secondary schools in Wales have been placed | :12:24. | :12:29.
within one of five bands. Band 1 is the highest, and 5, the lowest. To | :12:29. | :12:32.
work out which band a school should be in, they're given points in | :12:32. | :12:34.
areas including GCSE exam performance and pupil attendance | :12:34. | :12:40.
levels. They're rewarded if they've made progress in those areas. The | :12:40. | :12:43.
number of pupils eligible for free school meals is also taken into | :12:43. | :12:47.
account to allow for the challenges of running a school in a deprived | :12:47. | :12:52.
area. Now, parents can see exactly where their child's school sits in | :12:52. | :13:00.
the system. A system designed to see how schools are performing and | :13:00. | :13:04.
which need extra support. The Welsh Government has released a detailed | :13:04. | :13:06.
breakdown under the Freedom of Information Act, following a | :13:06. | :13:09.
request from the BBC. So today, we've learned that Ysgol Tryfan in | :13:09. | :13:13.
Bangor recorded the highest mark possible in the banding system. The | :13:13. | :13:17.
school with the lowest score is Llanrumney High School in Cardiff. | :13:17. | :13:19.
New information - information academics say needs to be used | :13:19. | :13:25.
effectively. If we get into a who's better than who analysis, and | :13:25. | :13:29.
there's a real risk we will, this just ends up being a stick to beat | :13:29. | :13:34.
schools with. In fact, what we really need to be doing is | :13:34. | :13:36.
demanding of Government and local authorities about what resources | :13:36. | :13:46.
:13:46. | :13:47. | ||
are going to be deployed as a result of this banding. This is a | :13:47. | :13:50.
relatively narrow range of performance measures. They are | :13:50. | :13:53.
important, they are interesting, we should be interested about doing | :13:53. | :13:57.
something about them and inquiring why some are doing better than | :13:57. | :14:01.
others but it does not represent all of what a school does. I think | :14:01. | :14:06.
to a large extent, they will be seen as a confusing. This afternoon, | :14:06. | :14:10.
the Education Minister was part of a debate on banding. He says the | :14:10. | :14:13.
system is necessary to identify schools which need the most help to | :14:13. | :14:17.
improve but insists they are not league tables or a means of naming | :14:17. | :14:20.
and shaming weaker schools. Schools in the top bands will be expected | :14:20. | :14:24.
to share their success. Local authorities will have to provide | :14:24. | :14:29.
support to the schools that need it most. The bands will be updated | :14:29. | :14:39.
:14:39. | :14:47. | ||
every year. You can seek full A coroner has warned of the dangers | :14:47. | :14:50.
of carbon monoxide poisoning after a holidaymaker died from fumes | :14:50. | :14:55.
given off by a barbeque. Tracy Screen from Derbyshire was at a | :14:55. | :15:00.
campsite in Gwynedd with her family when she died last August. A | :15:00. | :15:05.
smouldering barbeque had been stored inside their tent. | :15:05. | :15:08.
Tracy Screen was staying at the Aberafon campsite at Gyrn Goch near | :15:08. | :15:12.
Caernarfon with her husband Benjamin and two young children. | :15:12. | :15:15.
The family from Chesterfield were spending their second night in a | :15:15. | :15:19.
large tent. Benjamin Screen brought the portable barbeque inside the | :15:19. | :15:23.
main living area believing it had stopped smouldering. But the | :15:23. | :15:25.
cooling charcoal released carbon monoxide which affected all four | :15:26. | :15:35.
:15:36. | :15:36. | ||
family members. He described getting up to use the bathroom and | :15:36. | :15:42.
collapsing. He eventually dialled 999 on his mobile phone but was | :15:42. | :15:50.
disorientated. He called for help from other campsite unit -- users. | :15:50. | :15:54.
They took the children to safety but found Mrs Screen had died. | :15:54. | :16:01.
would like to thank everyone for their support. For everyone who | :16:01. | :16:08.
knew Tracey, there will be a huge hole in their lives. We love her. I | :16:08. | :16:18.
am sorry. Coroner Dewi Pritchard Jones recorded a verdict of | :16:18. | :16:20.
accidental death and stressed that people should take extra safety | :16:21. | :16:24.
precautions when staying on campsite. The combustion process, | :16:24. | :16:28.
the amount of carbon monoxide that is given off is significantly more | :16:28. | :16:33.
from which burns efficiently. tragedy at Aberafon wasn't the only | :16:33. | :16:36.
campsite fatality in North Wales in the past year and the coroner urged | :16:36. | :16:39.
people to consult a safety leaflet produced by the fire and rescue | :16:39. | :16:41.
service. The UK Health Secretary, Andrew | :16:41. | :16:43.
Lansley, says the Welsh Government's policy on breast | :16:43. | :16:46.
implants runs the risk of letting the private providers off the hook. | :16:46. | :16:49.
Yesterday the Welsh Government said private patients here could have | :16:49. | :16:52.
faulty implants replaced. The NHS in England will remove but won't | :16:52. | :16:54.
replace faulty implants from private patients there, if the | :16:54. | :16:58.
companies involved won't. But it'll recover the costs from the | :16:58. | :17:00.
companies. Friends and serving soldiers paid | :17:00. | :17:04.
heartfelt tributes at the funeral of Lance Sergeant Dan Collins today. | :17:04. | :17:07.
Around 300 mourners filled the service while more stood outside St | :17:07. | :17:12.
Mary's Church in Cardigan. The 29- year-old was found hanged on New | :17:12. | :17:15.
Year's Day in a Pembrokeshire quarry. He had been suffering with | :17:15. | :17:19.
post traumatic stress disorder after serving in Afghanistan. | :17:19. | :17:21.
One of the candidates standing in the Plaid Cymru leadership contest | :17:21. | :17:28.
has attacked his party's strategy at the Assembly elections last May. | :17:28. | :17:30.
They lost three seats and shortly afterwards Ieuan Wyn Jones | :17:31. | :17:35.
announced he'd stand down as leader. Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas says the | :17:35. | :17:44.
campaign focused too heavily on criticising other parties. I would | :17:44. | :17:51.
have thought the election campaign would have been about, look what we | :17:51. | :17:56.
have achieved and we will do more but that did not happen. We had | :17:56. | :18:00.
totally unproductive attack on the Labour Party. There are calls | :18:01. | :18:04.
tonight for better ambulance provision in Monmouth. It comes a | :18:04. | :18:07.
year after a mother died days after waiting more than 40 minutes for a | :18:07. | :18:11.
paramedic. Matthew Davies says his mother would be alive today if the | :18:11. | :18:14.
ambulance had arrived on time. He's organised a meeting tonight to | :18:14. | :18:17.
discuss concerns over the ambulance service. Tomos Dafydd reports. | :18:17. | :18:19.
Exactly a year ago today, Jacqueline Davies was having | :18:19. | :18:22.
trouble breathing. Her sister dialled 999. The call had been | :18:22. | :18:24.
classed as immediately life threatening, meaning a paramedic | :18:24. | :18:28.
should've been with her in 8 minutes. But no help arrived for | :18:29. | :18:37.
almost three quarters of an hour. Anyone with common sense looking at | :18:37. | :18:42.
the case would deduce that she would be alive today if they had | :18:42. | :18:49.
been there within half-an-hour of the initial phone-call. Monmouth is | :18:49. | :18:53.
served by one of these, a rapid response vehicle. It cannot take | :18:53. | :18:57.
patients to hospital but it can get to them quicker. But on January | :18:57. | :19:02.
11th last year, the duty paramedic was on a training course. When the | :19:02. | :19:04.
late shift started that day, the vehicle wouldn't start because the | :19:04. | :19:07.
car battery wasn't charged. It was only then that West Midlands | :19:07. | :19:10.
Ambulance Service were asked for help. Eventually a paramedic | :19:10. | :19:13.
arrived at Mrs Davies' home, followed by an ambulance. She was | :19:13. | :19:17.
unconscious. She died in hospital nine days later. The coroner said | :19:17. | :19:20.
there was a significant failing of the Trust and the delay could have | :19:20. | :19:30.
contributed to her death. We have changed things considerably in the | :19:30. | :19:39.
last month or so in the region and by February, you will see high | :19:39. | :19:43.
dependency Service crew available seven days a week. That will reduce | :19:43. | :19:48.
pressure on ambulance resources in the area, dealing with a lot of the | :19:48. | :19:55.
transfers. A year since losing his mother, Matthew Davies says | :19:55. | :20:04.
fundamental improvements are needed to the town's ambulance service. | :20:04. | :20:07.
There are 800 houses planned for Monmouth. This will add pressure on | :20:07. | :20:12.
at the service. His local MP has taken up his case and has met with | :20:12. | :20:17.
the Ambulance Trust. Tonight, Matthew Davies will raise his | :20:17. | :20:20.
concerns at a public meeting, hoping for support for his campaign | :20:20. | :20:21.
to improve the town's Ambulance Service. | :20:21. | :20:24.
Sport now, and Mark Hughes says he's returned to top flight | :20:24. | :20:27.
management because QPR's ambition matches his own. The former Wales | :20:27. | :20:30.
boss has signed a two and half year contract with the Premier league | :20:30. | :20:33.
club, seven months after walking out on Fulham. Hughes says this was | :20:33. | :20:36.
the right opportunity for him and he's happy to shoulder the | :20:36. | :20:45.
expectation that comes with the job. Some managers feel it is better to | :20:45. | :20:51.
lower expectations but I have never the mark. I have always walked | :20:51. | :20:58.
hand-in-hand with expectation. Fans want to be excited by what is | :20:58. | :21:01.
happening at their football club. Cardiff City will have to turn | :21:02. | :21:05.
around a 1-0 deficit in order to reach the Carling Cup Final after | :21:05. | :21:08.
losing at Crystal Palace last night. The Bluebirds did get the ball in | :21:08. | :21:11.
the back of the net, but it was disallowed by the referee. Claire | :21:11. | :21:17.
Summers reports. It his advantage Crystal Palace but Cardiff feel | :21:17. | :21:21.
they will be able to settle the score at home. Last night, the home | :21:21. | :21:26.
side got the breakthrough just two minutes before half-time. A free- | :21:26. | :21:30.
kick into the Cardiff box should have been the goalkeeper's ball but | :21:30. | :21:36.
Gardner was able to slot it into the open neck. The slim pickings | :21:36. | :21:39.
looked almost fruitful when Kenny Miller scored from this corner, | :21:39. | :21:43.
only for the referee to dismiss it. A decision which in the manager's | :21:43. | :21:48.
mind was the wrong one. I have looked at it again and again and it | :21:49. | :21:52.
is bemusing. The only reason I can find is the referee things he has | :21:52. | :21:59.
made a mistake in giving the corner. None of the players are anywhere | :21:59. | :22:04.
near the goalkeeper. That is what he suggested the file was four. But | :22:04. | :22:10.
it is all to play for at Cardiff City Stadium. The second leg will | :22:10. | :22:14.
be one that Cardiff will fancy. They hold the second best home | :22:14. | :22:18.
record in the championship. We could also know by then be set up | :22:18. | :22:24.
of the new Wales management team. Some bookies have Chris Coleman as | :22:24. | :22:28.
the favourite to take the job. He has returned home from holiday to | :22:28. | :22:32.
the UK today. Llanelli Scarlets number eight Ben Morgan has picked | :22:32. | :22:35.
by England for next month's Six Nations tournament. The 22-year-old | :22:35. | :22:37.
forward, who's originally from Bristol, recently qualified for | :22:37. | :22:40.
Wales on residency grounds, but has opted instead to play for the | :22:40. | :22:44.
country of his birth. The mild weather we've been having | :22:44. | :22:49.
for the past few weeks has been having quite an impact on plants. A | :22:49. | :22:52.
study in Cardiff has revealed that 63 species of wild flowers are in | :22:52. | :22:55.
bloom. That's more than double the average number for this time of | :22:55. | :23:04.
year. Sian Lloyd has more. Clues to this winter's and | :23:04. | :23:07.
unseasonably warm weather are springing up in the most unlikely | :23:07. | :23:11.
places. This busy roundabout in Cardiff is home to several species | :23:11. | :23:21.
:23:21. | :23:21. | ||
of wild flower. This is the command... Experts have recorded 63 | :23:21. | :23:24.
varieties flowing around the Welsh capital, more than double the | :23:25. | :23:30.
average for this and of year. would expect five or 10, or even 20. | :23:30. | :23:35.
But this year, a lot of these have continued flowering right through | :23:35. | :23:40.
until January. It is exceptional. Scraps of waste and like this | :23:40. | :23:44.
provide a natural habitat for many wild flowers but it is unusual to | :23:44. | :23:54.
:23:54. | :23:56. | ||
see red clover in bloom in January. At the National Botanic Garden in | :23:56. | :23:59.
Carmarthenshire, horticulturalists have been looking into how it | :23:59. | :24:05.
happens. We have mad fluctuations of climate, extremely cold winters, | :24:05. | :24:10.
extremely wet springs, all sorts of things are happening. It used to | :24:10. | :24:14.
happen once in 10 or 15 years, we would get an odd year but we are | :24:14. | :24:19.
seeing this every couple of years now. It is not just wild flowers | :24:19. | :24:23.
that are affected. Gardeners are reporting changes. The Actual | :24:24. | :24:28.
flowering itself is not concerning. We are telling gardeners to enjoy | :24:28. | :24:35.
them while they last but what is worrying is we have also got | :24:35. | :24:40.
reports of leaf buds swelling. If a lot of plants come out in to leave | :24:40. | :24:46.
at this time of year, they could be in for a shot back -- shock if | :24:46. | :24:50.
there is a frost. There is also be cultivated species like these | :24:50. | :24:58.
winter bedding plants to enjoy. I think the flowers are in for a | :24:58. | :25:03.
shock. There is a change on the way. Temperatures today reached 13 | :25:03. | :25:06.
Celsius in Wrexham. Six degrees above average, but it's going to | :25:06. | :25:11.
turn colder. Temperatures on Friday will be closer to 6 or 7 Celsius | :25:11. | :25:18.
with some frost and sunshine. Tonight some dry weather. A few | :25:18. | :25:22.
breaks in the cloud. However drizzle and light rain will become | :25:22. | :25:27.
more widespread overnight. Some mist and hill fog as well. The wind | :25:27. | :25:30.
picking up with lowest temperatures 8 Celsius. Tomorrow's chart shows | :25:30. | :25:33.
high pressure over the Bay of Biscay with a cold front moving | :25:33. | :25:43.
:25:43. | :25:44. | ||
south across the UK. That will bring a little rain followed by | :25:44. | :25:46.
much clearer, colder air. So tomorrow will start very much like | :25:46. | :25:55.
recent days. Dull and damp for some with drizzle. A combination of mist | :25:55. | :26:00.
and drizzle. Light rain in Gwynedd and hill fog as well. Temperatures | :26:00. | :26:05.
in Bala 10 Celsius and breezier than today. So plenty of cloud | :26:05. | :26:09.
tomorrow. A little rain and drizzle spreading south but in the north it | :26:09. | :26:13.
should dry and brighten up during the afternoon. Another mild day. | :26:13. | :26:16.
Top temperatures around 10 or 11 Celsius but temperatures will drop | :26:16. | :26:21.
by a few degrees in the north. The wind gradually easing. Tomorrow | :26:22. | :26:25.
night dry and with clearer skies a colder night. A few mist and fog | :26:25. | :26:28.
patches forming and some frost as well. Friday's chart shows high | :26:28. | :26:33.
pressure over us and that means dry and settled weather. Friday, a nice | :26:33. | :26:39.
day. A cold start. Some frost. A few mist and fog patches as well. | :26:39. | :26:42.
These will slowly lift with most of the country enjoying sunshine. | :26:42. | :26:46.
Temperatures rising to average with light winds. As for the weekend, | :26:46. | :26:50.
generally dry. Some sunshine, frost and a few fog patches. A chilly | :26:50. | :26:54.
breeze picking up on Sunday. Next week may start dry but it looks | :26:54. | :26:57.
like turning more unsettled and windier by the end of Wednesday. | :26:57. | :27:01.
There is a hint of cold weather later in the month. | :27:01. | :27:11.

Our picture tonight is from John Jones. If you're fed up with the | :27:11. | :27:16.
cloudy weather. There is a change on the way. It will be much clearer | :27:16. | :27:26.
:27:26. | :27:29. | ||
and colder by Friday with some Tonight's headlines from the BBC, | :27:29. | :27:34. |
