Welcome to Wales Today. Our top story: Pickaxe in administration, | :00:09. | :00:11.
shocked staff leave the headquarters tonight not knowing if | :00:11. | :00:15.
they have a job tomorrow -- Peacocks in administration. Quite | :00:15. | :00:18.
shocking, we are formally in administration and we will find out | :00:18. | :00:23.
tomorrow if we have a job. It is very sad, we come back tomorrow and | :00:23. | :00:33.
:00:33. | :00:42. | ||
leave the company, and that is it, Tonight's other main news: An | :00:42. | :00:45.
investigation is underway after two people died in a light aircraft | :00:45. | :00:51.
crash near Welshpool. A jury hears that Nikitta Grender was raped then | :00:51. | :00:56.
stabbed in the neck and stomach, killing her and her unborn baby. | :00:56. | :01:00.
Lorries carrying turbines cause traffic problems in Carmarthenshire. | :01:00. | :01:04.
Now fears in Newtown that similar hold-ups could it businesses. | :01:04. | :01:07.
And another chance for Henson, he is named in the Wales training | :01:07. | :01:17.
:01:17. | :01:19. | ||
Good evening. Nearly 10,000 jobs are at risk after the clothing | :01:19. | :01:22.
chain Peacocks announced it had gone into administration. The | :01:22. | :01:26.
company employs more than 400 people at its headquarters in | :01:26. | :01:29.
Cardiff. Staff there were given the news by the company's chief | :01:29. | :01:32.
executive this afternoon and many will find out tomorrow if they | :01:32. | :01:37.
still have jobs. Nick Servini is outside Peacock's headquarters for | :01:37. | :01:42.
us tonight. You have been there this afternoon. What have staff had | :01:42. | :01:48.
to say? This is 4 o'clock this afternoon, when 400 staff here at | :01:48. | :01:52.
the headquarters went into that meeting, and the chief executive | :01:52. | :01:56.
Richard Kirk told them the news, that the company was going into | :01:56. | :01:59.
administration, despite, he said, his efforts to try to come up with | :01:59. | :02:04.
a deal to regain control of the business. We are told he was then | :02:04. | :02:07.
given a round of applause in a very emotional meeting with their staff. | :02:07. | :02:11.
It is obviously going to be a very difficult time. The workers here | :02:11. | :02:16.
are left in a very unenviable position, going home tonight with a | :02:16. | :02:20.
view to going back to work tomorrow, the expectation as many of them to | :02:20. | :02:26.
put it bluntly will find out if they have a job tomorrow. A | :02:26. | :02:29.
significant announcement also from a wider perspective. This will be | :02:29. | :02:33.
the biggest retailer collapse across the UK since the downfall of | :02:33. | :02:37.
Woolworths and number of years ago, and in the context of Wales, the | :02:37. | :02:41.
biggest corporate collapse of any company in many years. This is what | :02:41. | :02:45.
some of the staff had to say when they came out of the meeting. | :02:45. | :02:50.
I think the directors worked very hard to try and save the company, | :02:50. | :02:55.
but I think in the end, it will come back as a different company | :02:55. | :02:58.
wants the administration has gone through. Some people will stay on | :02:58. | :03:01.
to run the business, but many people will lose their jobs | :03:01. | :03:08.
tomorrow. The staff are very sad. This is the place we have been | :03:08. | :03:13.
working so long, love so much, it is really sad. What will happen to | :03:13. | :03:17.
the business now? They are going to try to sell it as a going concern, | :03:17. | :03:21.
so fingers crossed. Nick, what hope is there for staff, what happens | :03:22. | :03:26.
next? Well, at a lot of those pretty dire | :03:26. | :03:30.
predictions from a couple of the staff you heard there, they may not | :03:30. | :03:33.
necessarily come true. I have spoken to the administrators KPMG, | :03:33. | :03:38.
and they have said they will try to sell it as a going concern, the | :03:38. | :03:42.
stores and the business will continue to trade as normal, but as | :03:42. | :03:46.
we know, Lucy, in an administration situation, generally speaking parts | :03:46. | :03:52.
of the business will be closed or sold off. In a statement KPMG also | :03:52. | :03:56.
said they believed there is a surplus of stores and it is | :03:56. | :04:00.
difficult trading environment, but the point about this businesses, | :04:00. | :04:03.
the difficulties are not necessarily the profitability of | :04:04. | :04:08.
the stores. The real problem is historic debt, hundreds of millions | :04:08. | :04:12.
of pounds worth of debt that stemmed from a management buyout | :04:12. | :04:16.
made in 2006, and since then, despite the stores doing reasonably | :04:16. | :04:19.
well, the overall financial performance of the company has been | :04:19. | :04:24.
weighed down every year by the cost of the interest payments on that | :04:24. | :04:29.
debt. That may give some hope at least to the workers that part of | :04:29. | :04:32.
the business may be sold on as a going concern. This is what the | :04:32. | :04:37.
administrator had to tell me. We are trying to find an answer to | :04:37. | :04:41.
a buyer by in this business. If we get your commitment and Co | :04:41. | :04:46.
operation, we will work as quickly and efficiently as possible to | :04:46. | :04:49.
ensure that as many stores go forward and there is a Peacocks in | :04:49. | :04:52.
the future. Me while, in contrast to what has | :04:52. | :04:56.
been going on at Peacocks -- meanwhile, unemployment figures | :04:56. | :05:01.
released today were quite encouraging. Yes, reasonably | :05:01. | :05:05.
encouraging, Lucy. I think these monthly figures can be erratic, but | :05:05. | :05:11.
on the quarter it has come down 1000 to 130,000, an unemployment | :05:11. | :05:16.
rate of 8.9 per cent compared to the UK average of 8.4 per cent. You | :05:16. | :05:20.
have to say, though, the overall trend at the moment is pretty | :05:20. | :05:24.
gloomy, not only have we had the news here at Peacocks which will | :05:24. | :05:28.
affect the entire country, we also had no announcement this afternoon | :05:28. | :05:32.
from Lloyd's that 200 job losses are due to take place in Cardiff | :05:32. | :05:38.
and Newport -- an announcement. will hear more tomorrow. Thank you. | :05:38. | :05:41.
An investigation is underway after two people were killed when a light | :05:41. | :05:46.
aircraft crashed in Powys. It happened near Mid Wales Airport in | :05:46. | :05:50.
Welshpool. Emergency services were called around lunchtime following | :05:50. | :05:54.
reports the plane had crashed into a mountain. Our reporter is near | :05:54. | :06:01.
the scene for us tonight. I am standing on Long Mountain near | :06:01. | :06:05.
the border between Montgomeryshire and Shropshire. It is just a mile | :06:05. | :06:09.
or so from here on the brow of the hill behind me that earlier today a | :06:09. | :06:13.
light aircraft came down leaving two people dead. Since then | :06:13. | :06:17.
emergency vehicles have been coming to and fro from this spot and | :06:17. | :06:22.
residency police are still here this evening. | :06:22. | :06:25.
The emergency services leave Long Mountain this evening after | :06:25. | :06:29.
spending most of the day at the scene of the incident. We were | :06:29. | :06:34.
called at midday from Welshpool airport as a twin-engined aircraft | :06:34. | :06:39.
has crashed after a short flight. The wreckage of the aircraft was | :06:39. | :06:45.
found and unfortunately two people are were there. We are can be | :06:45. | :06:48.
preserving the scene overnight for investigation and inquiries in the | :06:48. | :06:50.
morning. Tonight one of those who has lost | :06:50. | :06:55.
his life has been named locally as Bob Jones, the local farmer was one | :06:55. | :06:58.
of the founders of Mid Wales Airport, which was built in his | :06:58. | :07:03.
Land -- on his land in the early 1990s. Bob was a local farmer who | :07:03. | :07:08.
loved flying, it was his liberation. He decided to convert the grass | :07:08. | :07:13.
strip on his land. I became involved because I was chairman of | :07:13. | :07:18.
the local development agency at the time, and I was one of his | :07:18. | :07:23.
instruments in delivering his vision, and he inspired me as well. | :07:23. | :07:27.
The airport wouldn't be there. There are companies in mid-Wales | :07:27. | :07:30.
who wouldn't be there except for Bob Jones. The airport is located | :07:30. | :07:34.
just outside Welshpool. Local companies use it regularly to | :07:34. | :07:38.
travel between Mid Wales and other parts of the UK and Europe. The | :07:38. | :07:41.
airport was closed this afternoon as the local community comes to | :07:41. | :07:46.
grips with what has happened. Knight has now fallen on the | :07:46. | :07:50.
Montgomeryshire hillside. Air Accident investigations will begin | :07:50. | :07:56.
their work in the morning. Dyfed- Powys police say the next of kin | :07:56. | :07:59.
have been informed of this tragic Muse, which has shaken the local | :08:00. | :08:04.
community and left friends and relatives of those who have died in | :08:04. | :08:08.
grief -- tragic news. As I say, investigations will begin in the | :08:08. | :08:15.
morning. Thank you. Around 40 business owners from Mid | :08:15. | :08:18.
Wales met in Newtown earlier to discuss the possible impact of wind | :08:18. | :08:22.
farm developments in the area. They wanted to know how Powys County | :08:22. | :08:26.
Council and other raw authorities would deal with traffic when 15 you | :08:26. | :08:30.
wind farms are built in the area. They are concerned that an increase | :08:30. | :08:34.
in lorries carrying parts for wind turbines will create more traffic | :08:34. | :08:38.
and affect their businesses. He is Iolo ap Dafydd. | :08:38. | :08:43.
During the busiest times of the day Newtown is already congested. The | :08:43. | :08:47.
road from Welshpool runs through the town towards the south. | :08:47. | :08:51.
Possible traffic disruption has become an important issue as local | :08:51. | :08:54.
companies become aware of planned new wind farms in Mid Wales. | :08:54. | :08:58.
Some concerns were raised at a meeting in Newtown this morning. | :08:58. | :09:03.
lot of problems have been highlighted like the potential | :09:03. | :09:08.
damage to walk all the buildings, the five-seven years it is | :09:08. | :09:11.
estimated that every other day there will be one of these huge | :09:11. | :09:18.
convoys going through, plus 50 HGV lorry movements a day for the | :09:18. | :09:24.
duration. All of those things make this an absolutely enormous impact. | :09:24. | :09:28.
There was much talk about this being one of the greatest | :09:28. | :09:31.
investments in Wales, infrastructure projects in Wales, | :09:31. | :09:36.
for what -- for very long time, and with that it will bring significant | :09:36. | :09:42.
employment opportunities. My company, for one, has many people | :09:42. | :09:46.
employed in the wind industry. Campaigners in Montgomeryshire had | :09:46. | :09:52.
taken over an empty shop in Newtown to publicise maps showing how the | :09:52. | :09:56.
proposed turbines could affect parts of Powys. If up to 50 new | :09:56. | :10:00.
wind farms are built in Powys, county officials say over 4000 | :10:00. | :10:04.
vehicles like this one, filmed in Carmarthenshire two years ago | :10:04. | :10:10.
carrying part of a tower for a wind farm, could be seen on the roads in | :10:10. | :10:12.
Montgomeryshire. The draft agreements between local | :10:12. | :10:15.
authorities, wind developers and the police are still being | :10:16. | :10:19.
discussed to try and minimise as much as possible congestion in | :10:19. | :10:23.
future. Many in Mid Wales would argue that | :10:23. | :10:27.
traffic at busy periods is already problematic, and with 15 new | :10:27. | :10:31.
proposed wind farms for Powys, there would be an increase in heavy | :10:31. | :10:35.
and abnormal loads. But the developers would argue that that | :10:35. | :10:39.
busy periods would only last for a short period of time during | :10:39. | :10:48.
A man has gone on trial accused of the rape and murder of a heavily | :10:48. | :10:52.
pregnant teenager in her Newport home. The body of 19-year-old | :10:52. | :10:58.
Nikitta Grender was found in her burnt-out flat last February. 27- | :10:58. | :11:00.
year-old double-glazing salesman Carl Whant doesn't -- denies | :11:00. | :11:03.
stabbing her and killing her unborn baby. | :11:04. | :11:09.
Emergency services were called to this estate in Newport on 5th | :11:10. | :11:12.
February last year after the downstairs neighbours not smoke and | :11:12. | :11:17.
heard a constant alarm from the flat above -- smelt smoke. The body | :11:17. | :11:21.
of 19-year-old Nikitta Grender was discovered in the bedroom of the | :11:21. | :11:24.
home she shared with her boyfriend Brian May's. They were expecting | :11:24. | :11:28.
their first child within weeks and had already named their unborn | :11:28. | :11:36.
daughter Elsie May. Four days later police arrested Carl Whant. Today | :11:36. | :11:39.
any critic Brenda's family were in court to see him sentenced -- | :11:39. | :11:43.
Nikitta Grender's family. The prosecution told the court she | :11:43. | :11:47.
should have been safe in her own flat but someone entered that flat, | :11:47. | :11:51.
murdered her and raped her. He described how she was stabbed in | :11:51. | :11:55.
the stomach, killing her and her unborn baby, then, he said, the bed | :11:55. | :11:59.
on which she was lying was deliberately set on fire. Ladies | :11:59. | :12:05.
and gentlemen of the jury, he said, the man who did that was Carl Whant. | :12:05. | :12:08.
Fire experts say the blaze was started in three separate parts of | :12:08. | :12:13.
the bedroom with a match or lighter. They are due to give evidence about | :12:13. | :12:17.
what time the fire was started in the early hours of Saturday morning. | :12:17. | :12:21.
At the time Carl Whant and Ryan is were together at a house party on | :12:21. | :12:24.
the other side of Newport where they drank vodka and took cocaine. | :12:24. | :12:28.
The court heard how Carl Whant went missing from the party between 5am | :12:28. | :12:33.
and 6am. The prosecution say that is when he drove to Nikitta | :12:33. | :12:36.
Grender's has have committed the crimes. They say they have evidence | :12:36. | :12:41.
leaking -- linking the defender to Nikitta Grender, but added there | :12:41. | :12:44.
was no question of him having consensual sex with her. It was | :12:45. | :12:48.
common knowledge she disliked him and considered him a bad influence | :12:48. | :12:54.
on her boyfriend. 27-year-old Carl Whant denies all four counts of | :12:54. | :13:04.
:13:04. | :13:06. | ||
rape, murder, child destruction and arson. The case continues. Still to | :13:06. | :13:11.
come: Gavin Henson is in the Wales Six Nations training squad, so who | :13:11. | :13:21.
:13:21. | :13:21. | ||
The man in charge of a charity helping military veterans says more | :13:21. | :13:25.
should be done to encourage them to seek help. General Sir Kevin | :13:25. | :13:29.
O'Donoghue from the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families | :13:29. | :13:33.
Association has been visiting Wales to see the charity's work and meet | :13:33. | :13:36.
Assembly of members. Earlier I spoke to him and asked why ex- | :13:36. | :13:44.
service personnel are not coming The I think they are taught to be | :13:44. | :13:48.
self-reliant. That is part of it. Another part of it is perhaps they | :13:48. | :13:54.
don't like asking for charity. I think this is mistaken. Part of the | :13:54. | :13:58.
reason I am in Cardiff today is to spread the word that we are here to | :13:58. | :14:00.
help. Do you think you're people could be | :14:00. | :14:05.
coming to you because there are more high-profile charity out there, | :14:05. | :14:15.
like help 4 euros? -- help 4 euros. They have awakened the nation's | :14:15. | :14:19.
feelings for ex servicemen and women. I don't think that is the | :14:19. | :14:26.
reason. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association has been | :14:26. | :14:30.
going on for years. It helps soldiers, sailors, airmen and | :14:30. | :14:36.
families and it has 426 years. We need to reach out to those who have | :14:36. | :14:39.
retired a week and those who have retired 50 years ago and help their | :14:39. | :14:45.
families. I don't think it's other high profile charities, it is a | :14:45. | :14:49.
lack of awareness of what we can do. What about help for servicemen | :14:49. | :14:54.
suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder? We heard about the | :14:54. | :14:58.
death of lance-corporal Dan Collins, who took his life on New year's | :14:58. | :15:02.
Day? We can signpost servicemen and | :15:02. | :15:07.
women with those conditions to the clinicians who are professionally | :15:07. | :15:12.
qualified to help. What we went to, what we are not credited to do is | :15:12. | :15:17.
to give that specific help. Those who have a problem or think they | :15:17. | :15:22.
may have a problem, should contact us if they don't know where to go | :15:22. | :15:32.
:15:32. | :15:34. | ||
and we can point them in the right direction. | :15:34. | :15:38.
The neonatal unit at Swansea's Singleton Hospital has been closed | :15:38. | :15:42.
to new admissions. The health board says the situation is being | :15:42. | :15:46.
reassessed as the conditions of the newborn babies changed. | :15:46. | :15:51.
Staff at two Unilever sites in Wales have joint strike action over | :15:51. | :15:56.
pensions. The company makes Pot noodle at his factory and has IT | :15:56. | :16:01.
workers in Flintshire. They are striking over proposals to end the | :16:01. | :16:07.
company's final-salary scheme. Wales must not be sidelined in | :16:07. | :16:11.
debates about the future of the United Kingdom's constitution, that | :16:11. | :16:14.
is the warning from a new body set up to look at Wales's position | :16:14. | :16:18.
within the UK. Forum on the changing Union will spend three | :16:18. | :16:22.
years looking at issues such as what would happen if Scotland backs | :16:22. | :16:28.
independence. Cardiff council is planning to offer a same-day burial | :16:28. | :16:33.
service. It's aimed at meeting the religious needs of the city's was | :16:33. | :16:36.
numb and Jewish communities. The new arrangement means a burial | :16:36. | :16:46.
booked by 10:30am could happen as early as 230 that afternoon. -- | :16:46. | :16:50.
2:30pm. Since the late 1930s, Cardiff's | :16:50. | :16:54.
Muslim community has buried its dead here at Western Cemetery. | :16:54. | :17:00.
There is also a section for Jewish graves. Both faiths believes a | :17:00. | :17:04.
person must be buried as soon as possible after death and a swift | :17:04. | :17:08.
burial is a mark of honour and respect. Muslim leaders in Cardiff | :17:08. | :17:12.
have long argued for a same day burial service in the city and now | :17:12. | :17:16.
the council says it hopes to provide exactly that. | :17:17. | :17:22.
I am pleased, to be honest, this step has been taken. I hope other | :17:22. | :17:27.
councils will take it up. It is a fundamental core of the Muslim | :17:27. | :17:34.
faith and the Jewish faith, to have the burial as soon as possible. | :17:34. | :17:38.
Some councils in England already offer a same-day burial service but | :17:38. | :17:42.
plans for Cardiff mean that a burial booked by 10:30am could be | :17:42. | :17:48.
held as early as 2:30pm. It won't cost the taxpayer any more and it | :17:48. | :17:52.
is available to anyone of any faith but only if the legal procedures | :17:52. | :17:56.
and paperwork are on time and in order. | :17:56. | :18:00.
Obviously, when people come to us, it is at the last stage of the | :18:00. | :18:04.
bereavement. There are other procedures that have to go through | :18:04. | :18:08.

Directors. As a council, we will do all we can to meet the cultural and | :18:13. | :18:17.
religious needs of our communities. Cardiff council will make its final | :18:17. | :18:20.
decision tomorrow as to whether or not to offer same-day burial | :18:20. | :18:26.
services in the city. If it gets the go-ahead, they will be | :18:26. | :18:33.
available from 1st April. The Six Nations training squad has | :18:33. | :18:38.
been announced. Who is in and out? We got 35 mins to get through. | :18:38. | :18:44.
Stand by. Good evening. One name stands out. Gavin Henson has been | :18:44. | :18:48.
picked in Wales's squad for the Six Nations after playing just three | :18:48. | :18:52.
games this season. He is one of 35 players heading to Poland on Sunday | :18:52. | :18:57.
for a week-long training camp. Also on the list is Ashley Beck and a | :18:57. | :19:05.
surprise call-up, 18-year-old blues wing, Harry Robinson. | :19:05. | :19:08.
Warren Gatland called Gavin Henson and a cut today. His three matches | :19:08. | :19:13.
for the Blues have been more steady than spectacular. Not helped by | :19:13. | :19:17.
playing two of them out of position at full-back. The Wales coach feels | :19:17. | :19:22.
that even a half-baked Henson is worth a look. | :19:22. | :19:26.
It is an opportunity for us to have him in the camp and to see where he | :19:26. | :19:32.
is that. We can all have a look at games but really it is for the | :19:32. | :19:37.
coaches to get hands-on with Gavin Henson and see where years, | :19:37. | :19:43.
physically and mentally, and look at him again. | :19:43. | :19:45.
It is a squat build on the players It is a squat build on the players | :19:45. | :19:50.
that did so well in the World Cup. There are four uncapped players in | :19:50. | :19:58.
the backs. 18-year-old Blues When Harry Robinson is a product of the | :19:58. | :20:04.
Wales has -- Wales Sevens team. There is competition for places, | :20:04. | :20:08.
that is the important ingredient. When you want to create that | :20:08. | :20:12.
competition, it you want to have the numbers, to put those players | :20:12. | :20:15.
under pressure, whether it is in under pressure, whether it is in | :20:15. | :20:18.
would be your training. It is important that we get that balance | :20:18. | :20:22.
right and that is why we have decided to get a bigger squad with | :20:22. | :20:32.
:20:32. | :20:35. | ||
to cover the depleted lock position. Their reward for selection is the | :20:35. | :20:38.
Their reward for selection is the chance to pop in and out of the | :20:38. | :20:43.
freeze in chambers of the training camp in Poland. | :20:43. | :20:50.
I think it's about minus 10 degrees out there. I'm not really one for | :20:50. | :20:53.
the cold but you get your head down and get on with it. | :20:53. | :20:57.
Six players, including James Hook and Mike Phillips, who play in | :20:57. | :21:00.
France or England, will only be released for three days at the Cup | :21:01. | :21:04.
Polish camp but Wales are confident it won't affect preparations for | :21:04. | :21:08.
their first match against Ireland on February 5th. | :21:08. | :21:12.
A home match against Newcastle is the prize on offer for Wrexham if | :21:12. | :21:16.
they win the replay against Brighton tonight. The match goes | :21:16. | :21:20.
ahead after it was called off yesterday due to a frozen pitch. A | :21:20. | :21:25.
crowd of more than 9,000 is expected at the Racecourse, among | :21:25. | :21:32.
them former dragons manager, Dixie McNeil, who joins me now. I'm just | :21:32. | :21:36.
hearing that we can't hear from him at the moment so let me tell you | :21:36. | :21:40.
that you can hear commentary of that game on BBC Radio Wales | :21:40. | :21:45.
tonight and 7:15pm. Tomorrow, Chris Coleman is expected | :21:45. | :21:50.
to be unveiled as the new Wales football manager. The Fulham boss | :21:50. | :21:53.
has been holding talks with the Football Association of Wales this | :21:53. | :21:57.
week and we will bring new developments on that appointment in | :21:57. | :22:01.
tomorrow's programme. The frozen pitch frustrated Wrexham | :22:01. | :22:05.
last night. No worries this evening because I think it is a bit warmer, | :22:05. | :22:12.
The pitch has thawed out this evening but what a difference a day | :22:12. | :22:16.
makes. Yesterday in Wrexham, the temperature really struggled to | :22:16. | :22:23.
reach six Celsius. Today much milder, up to 12 Celsius. That is | :22:23. | :22:27.
about five degrees above the January average. The good news is | :22:27. | :22:31.
it should be dry for the game this evening but I wouldn't rule out a | :22:31. | :22:35.
little rain after the final whistle. Temperatures at the moment about | :22:35. | :22:39.
seven Celsius. Elsewhere this evening, cloudy and damp in the | :22:39. | :22:43.
south and west. Mist and fog patches and poor visibility. During | :22:43. | :22:48.
the night, the rain will become more widespread. Lighter rein in | :22:48. | :22:50.
the far north-east and temperatures staying well above freezing at | :22:50. | :22:56.
seven Celsius in concrete. The reason for the rain is this front, | :22:56. | :23:02.
here. That will move away with colder air following along behind. | :23:02. | :23:08.
This is the picture for 8am. Not a great start to the day. Rain for | :23:08. | :23:11.
most of the country but not too cold with temperatures in Welsh | :23:11. | :23:21.
:23:21. | :23:22. | ||
ball around six Celsius. -- in Llandudno. During the morning, the | :23:22. | :23:25.
rain will clear away and the visibility improving. A better | :23:25. | :23:30.
afternoon, dry with some sunshine but a few showers are likely in | :23:30. | :23:33.
parts of the north and west. The wind light at first but picking up | :23:33. | :23:38.
during the afternoon, becoming strong on the coast by the evening | :23:38. | :23:40.
and turning colder with temperatures between 7 and 10 | :23:40. | :23:45.
Celsius. In the Vale of Glamorgan, a wet start tomorrow morning but | :23:45. | :23:49.
that will clear, leaving a dry afternoon with sunshine in | :23:49. | :23:53.
Cowbridge. Temperatures in buried nine Celsius. Tomorrow night is | :23:53. | :23:58.
cold and windy with showers in the north. A bit of snow on the hills | :23:58. | :24:03.
and mountains with rain later in the night. Friday is breezy with | :24:03. | :24:06.
most of the rain in the mid-Wales and the North. It should brighten | :24:06. | :24:11.
up for a time with temperatures up to 10 Celsius. Saturday will be | :24:11. | :24:16.
windy that strong to gale force winds, making it feel chilly. | :24:16. | :24:21.
Sunday should turn out better, less windy and brighter, with a few | :24:21. | :24:27.
showers and a little sunshine. Our picture is from Judy Gaskell. | :24:27. | :24:29.
Visibility was poor at today but the weather will brighten up | :24:30. | :24:37.
Sorry about the technical problems we had earlier trying to talk to | :24:37. | :24:41.
Dixie McNeil but I'm pleased to say we can now speak to the format | :24:41. | :24:46.
Wrexham manager about tonight's game, the third round FA Cup match | :24:46. | :24:49.
against Brighton. What chance do you give Wrexham tonight? | :24:49. | :24:54.
They've got to get out there and enjoy themselves. It is a great | :24:54. | :24:58.
opportunity for them to beat a championship side. Looking forward | :24:58. | :25:00.
to playing Newcastle in the next round. | :25:00. | :25:04.
Given the recent financial problems of the club, how much will it mean | :25:04. | :25:08.
for Wrexham to have a full house tonight and the prospect of a | :25:08. | :25:11.
televised match in the 4th round if they get through? I don't think | :25:11. | :25:15.
people want to talk about money in that sense that I think you are | :25:15. | :25:21.
right. The perfect thing tonight would be a draw against Newcastle | :25:21. | :25:25.
and a mammoth pay day at the replay. We want to get through tonight and | :25:25. | :25:30.
concentrate on what we are doing. It will be a full house and I think | :25:30. | :25:36.
there will be a lot of support from the crowd. Their role wheezes. We | :25:36. | :25:39.
should seek what awaits them after the game this evening. | :25:39. | :25:46.
And the spirit of 1992 will loom large over the match? People will | :25:46. | :25:48.
hope they perform another giant- killing? | :25:48. | :25:53.
There has been a lot of giant- killing accounts over the years. 20 | :25:53. | :26:00.
years ago, Mickey Thomas against Arsenal. We beat Newcastle 4-1 | :26:00. | :26:06.
before that. We look forward to doing that again. It has been a | :26:06. | :26:10.
long while since the crowd has had something to cheer about and today | :26:10. | :26:15.
is a chance to move forward. Finally, promotion is the goal. Do | :26:15. | :26:19.
you ever worry that Wrexham could be distracted from the bigger | :26:19. | :26:22.
picture? That is always an easy thing to say | :26:22. | :26:27.
but I think if you are a player, you look forward to breaking away | :26:27. | :26:30.
from the League and there is nothing like winning, they are | :26:30. | :26:36.
having a fantastic run at the moment and I don't think they will | :26:36. | :26:39.
pick up many injuries. When you of winning, you don't. It is something | :26:39. | :26:44.
to look forward to. The League is the priority, everybody knows that. | :26:44. | :26:48.
It went to the club any harm to carry on in the FA Cup. | :26:48. | :26:54.
Thank you for joining us tonight. Our main news again: The clothing | :26:54. | :26:58.
chain Peacocks has announced it has gone into administration. | :26:58. | :27:02.
The company employs 400 people at its headquarters in Cardiff. The | :27:02. | :27:12.
news was issued this afternoon. A devastating day in the history of | :27:12. | :27:15.
this company, which has really been one of the stand-up performers for | :27:16. | :27:20.
the Welsh economy over the past 15 years. It has grown hugely and | :27:20. | :27:24.
transformed himself -- itself. Staff are left in limbo and would | :27:24. | :27:28.
know whether they have jobs for the future. Administrators say they | :27:28. | :27:31.
will try and sell this as a going concern. | :27:31. | :27:36. |
