Welcome to Wales Today. Tonight's main story: The family of a young

:00:07.:00:10.

couple found dead in this swollen river tell us they're devastated by

:00:10.:00:20.
:00:20.:00:23.

their loss. I feel sick and number. He was a good lad. Dozens of

:00:23.:00:29.

officers searched the river here. I'll be talking to the man who led

:00:29.:00:39.
:00:39.:00:45.

Children and pensioners were allowed in for free at our national

:00:45.:00:49.

treasures, but was that discrimination?

:00:49.:00:53.

People once flocked from all over the valleys to shop in Pontypridd.

:00:53.:01:00.

But now, disappointment after a new town centre plan collapses.

:01:00.:01:05.

walked down here now and there is not a decent shot to going to. What

:01:05.:01:09.

is going to be put there now? It wasn't always sunny on the beach

:01:09.:01:12.

this summer. The endless rain could see some of our coastline

:01:12.:01:14.

downgraded. And after an incredible summer of

:01:14.:01:24.
:01:24.:01:26.

sport, a new programme to get kids The family of a young couple, whose

:01:26.:01:29.

bodies were found in a swollen river near Wrexham, say they're

:01:29.:01:32.

devastated by what's happened. Alicia Williams and David Platt,

:01:32.:01:36.

who were both 25, were found in the River Clywedog near Felin Puleston

:01:36.:01:41.

yesterday. It's thought they may have been trying to rescue a pet

:01:41.:01:50.

dog. Sian Lloyd is by the river tonight.

:01:50.:01:55.

The spot where I'm standing on now is actually -- was actually an

:01:55.:01:59.

award yesterday. Local people have told me how high the water had

:01:59.:02:03.

risen and how fast it was flowing. It was near here that the two

:02:03.:02:09.

bodies were found by rescuers. Throughout the day, local people

:02:09.:02:15.

have been coming to the spot to pay tribute and to lay flowers. Tonight,

:02:15.:02:24.

to boxing gloves have been put on the fence.

:02:24.:02:27.

This was the River Clywedog yesterday. Days of rainfall turned

:02:27.:02:30.

a normally peaceful river into a torrent. 25-year-old Alicia

:02:31.:02:33.

Williams, who has a young daughter, and her partner, David Platt, who's

:02:34.:02:37.

also 25, were taking their five dogs for a walk along the riverbank

:02:37.:02:41.

when tragedy struck. Mr Platt's uncle was at the river today,

:02:41.:02:44.

stunned by the loss of his nephew, who he says was a decent and

:02:44.:02:54.
:02:54.:02:55.

respectable member of a loving family. If your pet was in trouble,

:02:55.:03:00.

you would go in. But they can't understand because he was such a

:03:00.:03:10.
:03:10.:03:11.

powerful amp -- powerful lad. thought one or both of the victims

:03:11.:03:14.

may have tried to rescue a dog which had got into difficulty in

:03:14.:03:17.

the water. The strong currents meant that the bodies were found

:03:17.:03:19.

several hundred metres apart. Mr Platt was recovered seven hours

:03:19.:03:22.

after Miss Williams. The search has commenced by the search and rescue

:03:22.:03:27.

team. After midnight last night, a body was found of a man in the

:03:27.:03:31.

river. A local businessman saw some of the couple's dogs running loose

:03:31.:03:33.

and became suspicious. He went to the river to witness emergency

:03:33.:03:36.

crews trying to recover Alicia Williams body. He says the force of

:03:36.:03:40.

the water was intense. Her the river had dropped about 4 ft but

:03:40.:03:45.

the river has filled up tremendous power and it was still bursting

:03:45.:03:52.

banks. It moved a tree by 8 ft behind us. If anybody had slipped

:03:52.:03:59.

in, it would take quite a while for them to go further down the river.

:03:59.:04:01.

The Environment Agency say that even apparently peaceful rivers can

:04:01.:04:04.

be dangerous, and during heavy rain can be especially treacherous.

:04:04.:04:08.

river will remain dangerous for the next few days. Water will be coming

:04:08.:04:13.

off the fields. It may look safe but walking along riverbanks, those

:04:13.:04:22.

of us are still fast-flowing. It will take days for the levels drop.

:04:23.:04:26.

-- for the levels to drop. Post mortem examinations will be carried

:04:26.:04:29.

out tomorrow. Meanwhile, friends and relatives are paying their

:04:29.:04:39.
:04:39.:04:41.

respects to the couple who fell victim to our recent wild weather.

:04:41.:04:47.

I am joined now by the man who led the investigation yesterday. Tell

:04:47.:04:51.

us what you were met with when you arrive at the scene? The river was

:04:51.:04:56.

running very high. It had broken the bank in quite a few places. The

:04:56.:05:01.

water meadow surrounding the river had flooded as well. We heard the

:05:01.:05:04.

story developing throughout the day. It is believed the couple went into

:05:04.:05:10.

the water to rescue one of their Peps. Can you tell us about what

:05:10.:05:17.

happened? I cannot comment on the pets because I don't know. We do

:05:17.:05:24.

know... When we got here we were deployed -- redeployed 20 team

:05:24.:05:31.

members. We searched the banks of the river. We searched the areas

:05:31.:05:34.

downstream as well. We've had a lot of torrential rain in this part of

:05:34.:05:43.

Wales for the past two days. But it seems this had swamped much of the

:05:43.:05:49.

area. That is right. Most of the rivers around here had burst their

:05:49.:05:57.

banks and we've had a lot of flooding in this area. It is very

:05:57.:06:00.

difficult for officers involved in an operation like this.

:06:00.:06:08.

fatality like this is always difficult to deal with. It was

:06:08.:06:13.

quite hard. You are trained to come across all sorts of situations of

:06:13.:06:20.

course. That's right. This is not the only fatality we've had this

:06:20.:06:25.

year but we maintain a professional outlook and on behalf of the team,

:06:25.:06:33.

I offer my deepest condolences to the friends and family. More people

:06:33.:06:39.

are still coming to bring floral tributes. Back to the studio.

:06:39.:06:42.

It's emerged the Welsh Government introduced a free entry scheme at

:06:42.:06:46.

heritage sites, despite a high risk of it being declared illegal. In

:06:46.:06:50.

2008, it was announced if you were Welsh and you were under 16 or over

:06:50.:06:53.

60, you could get into some of our most famous castles and ruins for

:06:54.:06:56.

nothing. But a freedom of information request released to BBC

:06:56.:06:59.

Wales has now shown that ministers were warned the policy could be

:06:59.:07:09.
:07:09.:07:15.

declared unlawful if it was We think this is a good investment

:07:15.:07:19.

and we think it will encourage people to visit CADW sites

:07:19.:07:23.

throughout Wales. The then minister said this was good news ended

:07:23.:07:27.

investment. They dream of free entry to castles had come true but

:07:27.:07:31.

only if you lived in Wales. If you were a pensioner with a child from

:07:31.:07:35.

anywhere else you have to pay. But everyone thought that was fair.

:07:35.:07:40.

Being an Englishman, and envious. think we should all be able to get

:07:40.:07:45.

in free. The it turns out the Government's own lawyer's he could

:07:45.:07:48.

be right. We have been trying to get hold of this legal advice to

:07:48.:07:52.

Government for nearly two matches. Finally, the information

:07:52.:07:55.

commissioner had ruled that it is in the public interest to disclose

:07:55.:08:00.

it. What he chose is that the Government was warned that if

:08:00.:08:05.

challenged, this policy was highly likely to be discriminatory and

:08:05.:08:09.

therefore illegal under domestic and European Union law. The scheme

:08:09.:08:15.

was abandoned in March last year. But if this was quite possibly

:08:16.:08:18.

unlawful the opposition parties are now asking could the same be true

:08:18.:08:22.

of other Wales only policies like free bus passes and free

:08:22.:08:31.

prescriptions. It raises questions about the veracity of other

:08:31.:08:34.

policies. Some of us are concerns as to whether there might be

:08:34.:08:42.

liability on the last Government. Up to date, the was Government has

:08:42.:08:49.

not been releasing the advice it has been given. When we look at

:08:49.:08:53.

something like availability of a benefit to a resident of one of the

:08:53.:08:57.

home nations, there is the complication that under European

:08:57.:09:03.

Union law, some of those benefits can be tied to residency and others

:09:03.:09:08.

have to be made more generally available and the law is not clear

:09:08.:09:18.
:09:18.:09:20.

on this point. In the past, the Education Minister has described

:09:20.:09:25.

questions over the ed legality of his policy as tosh but today there

:09:25.:09:35.
:09:35.:09:39.

was Government chose their words The CADW scheme has been scrapped

:09:39.:09:43.

but the Welsh Government will now hope it does not lead to a rather

:09:43.:09:47.

more tangled legal web. Betsan is outside Caerphilly Castle

:09:47.:09:51.

for us tonight. How unusual is it that this legal advice has been

:09:51.:10:01.
:10:01.:10:01.

made public? It is extremely unusual. The Government is always

:10:01.:10:07.

reluctant to release this kind of internal legal advice. It took

:10:07.:10:12.

quite a battle to see this in the end. We appealed to the information

:10:12.:10:17.

commissioner and he said it was in the public interest. What it tells

:10:17.:10:21.

us is that the Government's own lawyer's were telling them that a

:10:21.:10:28.

policy they were pursuing was probably unlawful. So how difficult

:10:28.:10:37.

might this turn out to be for the Government? I am sure this Labour

:10:37.:10:41.

administration would remind us that it was a Plaid Cymru minister who

:10:41.:10:50.

introduced this. Nobody challenged it. They will say they -- there is

:10:50.:10:54.

no Derek Read across. But we've spoken to plenty of liars today who

:10:54.:11:00.

say they don't really know. Nobody can know until these things are

:11:00.:11:04.

tested in a court of law. That is what decides what is lawful and

:11:04.:11:10.

what is not. Others are saying that if the Government is so confident

:11:10.:11:13.

that there is no relevance and though read across to other Wales

:11:13.:11:18.

only policies like student fees for instance, then why don't they

:11:18.:11:23.

publish that lead advice for all to see? There is certainly no sign

:11:23.:11:28.

that they are about to do that. Three teenagers have been found

:11:28.:11:31.

guilty of a robbery near Rhydyclafdu near Pwllheli in which

:11:31.:11:34.

a farmer was shot in the leg. 18- year-old Liam Roberts, 19-year-old

:11:34.:11:37.

Steven Evans and 18-year-old Luke Evans were jailed for a total of 24

:11:37.:11:40.

years in youth custody at Mold crown Court after they admitted

:11:40.:11:48.

joint robbery and possessing an air rifle with intent to commit robbery.

:11:48.:11:51.

North Wales police welcomed the sentence today which reflects the

:11:51.:11:55.

brutality used against the victim and his own home. I would like to

:11:55.:12:00.

assure the community that incidents of this nature are extremely rare

:12:00.:12:03.

and the shooting of an innocent member of the public is unheard of

:12:03.:12:08.

in this area. This has been a complex investigation and I would

:12:08.:12:12.

like to thank those members of the public who came forward with

:12:12.:12:15.

information. A man convicted of murdering a

:12:15.:12:18.

pensioner in Cardiff 25 years ago has been given another 16 life

:12:18.:12:21.

sentences for a horrific sex attack on a woman at knifepoint in Bristol.

:12:22.:12:24.

42-year-old Mark Shirley is already serving a life sentence for a

:12:24.:12:29.

similar attack on another woman in 2009. The judge told him he would

:12:29.:12:33.

probably die in jail. Parents in Carmarthen say they're

:12:33.:12:36.

worried about their children walking to and from school after

:12:36.:12:38.

discovering there has been a serious sexual assault along the

:12:38.:12:43.

route to Ysgol Gyfun Bro Myrddin. A man's been charged with an attack

:12:43.:12:48.

on a 14-year-old girl who wasn't a pupil at the school. It happened

:12:48.:12:50.

during the summer holidays in an underpass designated as a safe

:12:51.:12:58.

route. Abigail Neal reports. $WHITE Bro Myrddin school is on the

:12:58.:13:02.

outskirts of Carmarthen. To reach it on foot, there's only one way to

:13:02.:13:05.

get across the A48 safely. You have to go underground. This underpass

:13:05.:13:08.

is the designated safe route to school, but after a teenage girl

:13:08.:13:11.

was attacked walking through here in August, parents now believe it's

:13:11.:13:21.
:13:21.:13:22.

anything but. Leigh Richardson has two daughters at the school.

:13:22.:13:26.

always thought it wasn't a safe route. We are more concerned about

:13:26.:13:30.

the traffic than this happening but the in the pass is quite a scary

:13:30.:13:34.

place to be an full and 11-year-old and a 13-year-old walking through

:13:34.:13:39.

that now knowing what happened there, my kids are particularly

:13:39.:13:42.

scared about it. As a Welsh medium school, many pupils travel long

:13:42.:13:45.

distances by bus to get to Bro Myrddin. But two years ago, the

:13:45.:13:48.

council scrapped free buses for those who lived less than three

:13:48.:13:52.

miles away in line with legislation. That meant more children having to

:13:52.:13:56.

walk this route. Now, parents and teachers want the council to re-

:13:56.:14:06.

think that policy. I want the council to consider, as they have

:14:06.:14:12.

in the past, what they can do as a response. There are dark days of

:14:12.:14:18.

winter nearly upon us that it has to be said that these are dark days

:14:18.:14:22.

financially for councils in Wales and economies of scale have to be

:14:22.:14:26.

made. Carmarthenshire Council told us there are no plans to change the

:14:26.:14:28.

policy because it would require more funding, which isn't available.

:14:28.:14:31.

The incident happened outside of school term time and they say that

:14:31.:14:34.

where a child lives within statutory walking distance, it is

:14:34.:14:36.

the parents who are responsible for children getting to school,

:14:36.:14:44.

including accompanying them. Still to come in the programme:

:14:44.:14:46.

What now for the centre of Pontypridd after a multi million

:14:46.:14:55.

pound shopping development falls through?

:14:55.:14:59.

It was a dismal summer in terms of weather and one of the likely

:14:59.:15:02.

effects is that many of Wales' beaches will lose their Blue Flag

:15:02.:15:05.

status. After heavy and persistent rain, samples taken by the

:15:05.:15:08.

Environment Agency indicate that up to a quarter of Welsh beaches are

:15:08.:15:12.

"at risk" of losing the status next year. It's because of more

:15:12.:15:18.

pollution from farmland and tougher European rules on water quality.

:15:18.:15:25.

More from our environment correspondent, Iolo ap Dafydd.

:15:25.:15:29.

It has hardly been good beach weather during most of the summer.

:15:29.:15:33.

Months of misery and another blow now which could affect 12 beaches

:15:34.:15:37.

next year. Blue Flag status is given for reaching the European

:15:37.:15:41.

standard of excellence for water quality and local amenities. Five

:15:41.:15:45.

beaches have already lost their Blue Flag status for next year.

:15:45.:15:55.
:15:55.:15:55.

They include several in North Wales. But BBC Wales has found out that

:15:55.:16:05.

other beaches are at risk as well and they include this won in Paris.

:16:05.:16:10.

-- this one in Barry. Confirmation is expected by the Environment

:16:10.:16:15.

Agency in November. 2000 samples over a period of May Tizzard Pemba,

:16:15.:16:25.

on much beaches where you'd expect people to want those women. --

:16:25.:16:35.
:16:35.:16:36.

you'd expect people to want to go swimming. The last samples for this

:16:36.:16:42.

year were taken this week for analysis. A billion pounds has been

:16:42.:16:46.

invested since 1995 on treating waste water near the coast to

:16:46.:16:52.

improve bathing water quality. analysis says we are likely to see

:16:52.:16:55.

a drop. Even though the water quality remains above the guideline

:16:55.:16:59.

standard, it won't be good enough to meet the new excellence standard.

:16:59.:17:03.

The dry economic concerns as well because beaches with a good

:17:03.:17:07.

reputation attract visitors. It is important to small businesses

:17:07.:17:12.

around here. They advertise it as a Blue Flag beach and when people

:17:12.:17:18.

read the websites and things like that they see the blue flag ban or

:17:18.:17:22.

and they appreciate that the beaches clean. The a third of Blue

:17:22.:17:25.

Flag beaches are in Wales and water quality keeps improving but tougher

:17:25.:17:31.

regulations next year and pour water samples this year is likely

:17:31.:17:36.

to lead to fewer Blue Flag beaches next summer.

:17:36.:17:38.

Welsh Rugby International Andrew Bishop has been ordered to pay more

:17:38.:17:41.

than 1,000 in fines and compensation after assaulting a

:17:41.:17:44.

passer-by on a night out in Cardiff. The Ospreys player from Treorchy at

:17:44.:17:47.

first denied the charges, but later admitted common assault after being

:17:47.:17:52.

shown CCTV footage of the incident. There's been disappointment in

:17:52.:17:54.

Pontypridd after plans for a new multi-million pound shopping centre

:17:54.:17:58.

collapsed. A number of national retailers had expressed an interest

:17:58.:18:05.

in the development. So what now for the town? Sachin Krishnan reports.

:18:05.:18:09.

It's easy to see why the Taff Vale shopping centre was being replaced.

:18:09.:18:12.

Built in the 1960s, it had long since been considered an eyesore in

:18:12.:18:15.

Pontypridd before it was demolished ahead of the site's planned

:18:15.:18:20.

redevelopment. With around 15 million set to be invested,

:18:20.:18:23.

Poundland and Wilkinson's were two chains who had signed up to the

:18:23.:18:28.

project. But after funding problems and delays, now the plans have

:18:28.:18:31.

collapsed with the developers, Taff Vale Limited, believed to have

:18:31.:18:37.

called in the receivers. We went into Ponty today and it was the

:18:37.:18:44.

talk of the town. There is so much work going on Europe the moment.

:18:44.:18:48.

And everybody is -- everything is being brought into the -- up to

:18:48.:18:53.

scratch and this was going to be the icing on the Cape. I am really

:18:53.:18:59.

disappointed. The shops are closing. We need a boost to the economy so

:18:59.:19:06.

it's not very good. We needed these shops. There is not a decent job to

:19:06.:19:12.

go into. What is going to be put there now? When coal was still king,

:19:12.:19:15.

Pontypridd was THE destination for shoppers from across the South

:19:15.:19:18.

Wales Valleys. But decades on, it's out-of-town supermarkets and

:19:18.:19:24.

Cardiff where the focus has shifted. The new Taff Vale was seen as the

:19:24.:19:27.

centre-piece of a redevelopment of Ponty town centre, which includes a

:19:27.:19:33.

10 million facelift, improvements to roads and around the station. So

:19:33.:19:42.

what now for the site? Us there are lots of things we could do.

:19:42.:19:46.

don't have a contemporary modern art museum in Wales to showcase of

:19:46.:19:56.
:19:56.:19:56.

the modern-art be a producing. Why not have a museum? We don't have a

:19:56.:20:01.

People's History Museum either to show the industrial history of

:20:01.:20:04.

urban South Wales. Pontypridd was at the heart of that industrial

:20:04.:20:10.

heritage. Or why not something to reflect the sporting heritage?

:20:10.:20:12.

Rhonnda Cynon Taff Council have expressed disappointment that the

:20:12.:20:15.

Taff Vale project won't be going ahead but say they remain committed

:20:15.:20:18.

to finding a way to redevelop the site. Getting one of our most

:20:18.:20:23.

historic town centres bustling again has still got some way to go.

:20:23.:20:26.

Good evening. Well, it was a fantastic summer of sport, but now

:20:26.:20:29.

the work really begins to make sure all that inspiration from the

:20:29.:20:33.

Olympics and Paralympics doesn't go to waste. Today, a new programme

:20:33.:20:35.

was unveiled which will radically change the way that primary school

:20:35.:20:39.

children in Wales learn to play sport. It's hoped they'll get

:20:39.:20:45.

hooked for life. There's a new appetite for sport at

:20:45.:20:48.

Laugharne Primary School in Carmarthenshire. But this isn't

:20:48.:20:53.

rugby, hockey, netball or cricket. The school's been part of a pilot

:20:53.:20:56.

scheme for Dragon Multi-Skills and Sport, a new programme from Sport

:20:56.:20:58.

Wales which aims to help children develop everything they need to

enjoy sport for the rest of their lives. There are 48 different

:21:03.:21:07.

skills to learn, packaged into a series of games. This one's called

:21:07.:21:17.
:21:17.:21:18.

'Crazy Capers'. Hero loads of robes around in a circle and there is one

:21:18.:21:24.

in the middle and end up the run from that one and take them back.

:21:24.:21:33.

It is helping us to get faster. Ball skills help as well.

:21:33.:21:38.

multi-skilled programme gives them course skills they can apply to any

:21:38.:21:42.

sports they want to do was teenagers. That fundamental because

:21:42.:21:46.

children enjoy things when they are confident in their own abilities.

:21:46.:21:50.

If they go to a club and find they don't have the skills the rest of

:21:50.:21:55.

the children do, they are put off and they won't go again.

:21:55.:21:57.

sports-mad nations of Australia and New Zealand have had similar

:21:57.:22:02.

schemes in place for a while. It's got the support of the Welsh

:22:02.:22:05.

Government and 98% of primary schools are already part of the

:22:05.:22:08.

Dragon Sport scheme, although it's not part of the curriculum. It's

:22:08.:22:18.

hoped sports clubs and community groups will start using it too.

:22:18.:22:23.

want every school to have the same games because it will mean

:22:23.:22:27.

something to the children and they can make connections. Parents might

:22:27.:22:31.

be able to play some of these activities on the beach or in the

:22:31.:22:33.

park with their children as well. The Olympics has certainly created

:22:33.:22:38.

a buzz about sport. Pupils were firing questions at Olympic swimmer

:22:39.:22:41.

Georgia Davies all morning about her experience in London, which was

:22:41.:22:49.

built on the foundations of her own sporting childhood. At school, I

:22:49.:22:53.

did netball and hockey and cross country. I also played football and

:22:53.:22:58.

rugby. I did athletics in the summer. I have been brought up to

:22:58.:23:03.

be active and it's the best way to the. I have met so many friends

:23:03.:23:08.

through it and it has helped me develop into the swimmer I am now.

:23:08.:23:11.

Not every child is destined for Olympic success, but this new

:23:11.:23:13.

scheme should help more young people achieve their full sporting

:23:13.:23:15.

potential. Football, and Swansea City

:23:16.:23:18.

goalkeeper Michel Vorm has signed a new contract with the club, which

:23:19.:23:23.

should keep him at the Liberty Stadium until 2016. The Dutchman

:23:23.:23:27.

was voted player of the year in his first season with the Swans. He's

:23:27.:23:30.

also looking forward to coming up against the man who first signed

:23:30.:23:33.

him, Brendan Rodgers, after Swansea were drawn away to Liverpool in the

:23:33.:23:43.
:23:43.:23:49.

fourth round of the Capital One Cup. Of course, it is special, because

:23:49.:23:54.

he became a big name here over the last two years and did very well

:23:54.:24:03.

here. That is how we learned his spot at Liverpool. -- he earned his

:24:03.:24:06.

spot at Liverpool. Welsh cyclist Becky James says she

:24:06.:24:09.

doesn't mind people talking about her as the next Victoria Pendleton.

:24:09.:24:12.

The 20-year-old sprinter from Abergavenny won the 500 metres Time

:24:12.:24:14.

Trial at the National Championships in Manchester last night and has

:24:14.:24:18.

more medal chances later in the week. I'll always do my best and I

:24:18.:24:25.

want to keep developing my training. Victoria Pendleton was 31 so I 11

:24:25.:24:34.

years to step up and get myself on the map.

:24:34.:24:37.

Let's take a look at the weather and it's been a little brighter for

:24:37.:24:47.

The weather went up a few gears today. Much drier and brighter than

:24:47.:24:52.

recently. River levels are dropping but a few remain swollen. There is

:24:52.:24:55.

still one flood warning in the lower Dee Valley from Llangollen to

:24:55.:25:01.

Chester and five flood alerts. Dry for most of this evening. Just the

:25:01.:25:05.

odd shower. And then after midnight, a front will bring some showery

:25:05.:25:07.

rain. The breeze picking-up with lowest temperatures around 8C to

:25:07.:25:11.

12C. Tomorrow's chart shows low pressure between Scotland and

:25:11.:25:18.

Iceland with a cold front moving southeast across Britain. So

:25:19.:25:22.

tomorrow morning, a cloudy start for most of the country. A few

:25:22.:25:26.

spots of rain. One or two showers. Much brighter in the north-west.

:25:26.:25:31.

Sunshine in Gwynedd and the odd shower. Pembrokeshire dry with some

:25:31.:25:38.

sunshine in Haverfordwest. During the morning, the whole country will

:25:38.:25:42.

brighten-up. You may catch a shower but it's hit and miss. A lot of

:25:42.:25:46.

places having a dry afternoon with sunny spells. Top temperatures

:25:46.:25:50.

around 14C to 16C with a moderate to fresh westerly wind. In

:25:50.:25:53.

Pembrokeshire, I wouldn't rule out a shower tomorrow but most of the

:25:53.:26:00.

day dry, bright and breezy. A high of 14C in Goodwick. Tomorrow night,

:26:00.:26:05.

the odd shower here and there. Otherwise dry and clear. Breezy on

:26:05.:26:09.

the coast. Lighter winds inland with a low of 6C in Monmouth. As

:26:10.:26:13.

for the weekend, Saturday looks quite nice. Breezy but dry with

:26:13.:26:18.

sunny spells. Just the odd light shower in the north. On Sunday, the

:26:18.:26:22.

south-east may start bright but rain will spread from the northwest.

:26:22.:26:29.

So turning wet and windy. The rain heaviest in the west. The southeast

:26:29.:26:32.

dry for longest. So Saturday the best day of the weekend. Sunday

:26:32.:26:37.

goes downhill. The start of October looks changeable. Often windy with

:26:37.:26:41.

showers or longer spells of rain. Typical for the time of year. Our

:26:41.:26:44.

picture is from Roger Cooke. Cumulus clouds over Swansea. Thanks

:26:44.:26:48.

Roger. Some rain in Swansea after midnight, but clearing to sunshine

:26:48.:26:58.
:26:58.:27:02.

Him Ken Knaggs and Midland. The family is a lovely young couple

:27:02.:27:05.

were found in river in Wrexham have said they are devastated by what

:27:05.:27:11.

happened. Alicia Williams and David Platt who were both 25 were found

:27:11.:27:13.

in the River Clyde of yesterday. It is thought they may have been

:27:13.:27:18.

trying to rescue a pet dog. And Chelsea football captain John

:27:18.:27:23.

Terry has been banned for four matches and fined more than

:27:23.:27:28.

200,000 for racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand. John

:27:28.:27:31.

Terry was found guilty of the offence by the English FA despite

:27:31.:27:34.

being cleared of a similar offence in court.
