light rain. It will be damp across the north and west. That's all from

:00:00.3:59:59

the BBC news at six. Welcome to Wales Today. Our top

:00:00.:00:00.

story. They're eating healthily, but

:00:07.:00:09.

tonight the shocking story of a five-year-old from Newport who

:00:10.:00:12.

weighs ten stone, removed from her parents.

:00:13.:00:20.

That reflects the paucity we have in the medical services for

:00:21.:00:25.

preschoolers who are not surveyed and this should be a wake-up call to

:00:26.:00:26.

make that change. A three-year-old boy has died in

:00:27.:00:43.

hospital in Wrexham after he was found in a garden pond. Also

:00:44.:00:47.

tonight, A blood clot and internal bleeding.

:00:48.:00:50.

Margaret Thomas waited in the back of an ambulance for three hours. Why

:00:51.:00:55.

is Wales the worst in the UK? Wales captain and Cardiff Blues star

:00:56.:00:59.

Sam Warburton sets a deadline to sort his contract here or he'll join

:01:00.:01:04.

the player exodus. We're live at the Wales Sport

:01:05.:01:07.

Awards, where later this evening the BBC Wales Sports Personality of the

:01:08.:01:13.

Year will be crowned. And is this the end of the pier

:01:14.:01:17.

show? It's decision time for Colwyn Bay - restoration or demolition.

:01:18.:01:25.

Good evening. Shocking - that's how an obesity charity has described the

:01:26.:01:31.

case of a five-year-old in Newport who weighed more than ten stone. The

:01:32.:01:36.

girl was taken into care because of her weight, which is three times

:01:37.:01:40.

heavier than the average. The National Obesity Forum has called

:01:41.:01:43.

for better monitoring of children and their weight. Here in Wales we

:01:44.:01:47.

have the highest rate of childhood obesity in the UK. Jordan Davies has

:01:48.:01:55.

more. Playtime at a primary School in

:01:56.:01:59.

Newport. Many of these children may not know it but the games they are

:02:00.:02:03.

playing will make them fitter, stronger and healthier. It is

:02:04.:02:09.

important because it keeps your body nice and healthy. It is really good

:02:10.:02:16.

for you. I stay healthy by eating five fruit and veg a day. And

:02:17.:02:23.

Apple, and orange, a banana in your packed lunch. After working up an

:02:24.:02:29.

appetite, lunchtime. Today it is vegetables and pasta. As part of the

:02:30.:02:35.

curriculum we have a healthy week that we run in school and in that

:02:36.:02:41.

week we highlight and focus upon a healthy lifestyle through exercise,

:02:42.:02:46.

eating healthy lunch boxes. We have a week that promotes what we try to

:02:47.:02:51.

do throughout the year. Although Wales has the highest childhood

:02:52.:02:55.

obesity levels in the UK, questions are being asked tonight about how a

:02:56.:02:59.

five-year-old girl was allowed to reach ten stone in weight. In August

:03:00.:03:06.

last year, then aged five years and 11 months was taken into foster care

:03:07.:03:11.

in Newport because she weighed ten stone ?6. Two months later her

:03:12.:03:18.

weight rose before dropping 27 stone this September. The average wait for

:03:19.:03:25.

a five-year-old child is to stone ?12. We have a five-year old girl

:03:26.:03:32.

who must have been out and about for five years and in full visibility of

:03:33.:03:36.

people in the medical profession who should have said, there is a girl

:03:37.:03:41.

who is far too heavy for her age, we have got to do something about it.

:03:42.:03:45.

The first thing that should be done is that they should be an

:03:46.:03:48.

implementation of regular monitoring. In July a report by the

:03:49.:03:53.

National Assembly said 20% of Welsh five-year-olds are overweight, while

:03:54.:04:00.

12.5% are obese. In Newport, with this girl was from, obesity figures

:04:01.:04:06.

are roughly the same. Judith John is from Public Health Wales and she

:04:07.:04:11.

says Vicky, perhaps unsurprisingly, is a healthier overall support --

:04:12.:04:18.

lifestyle. The amount of food that is out there advertised to families

:04:19.:04:23.

in relation to high-fat and high food -- sugar foods is a problem and

:04:24.:04:28.

the amount of fast-food outlets we see can be a problem. The amount of

:04:29.:04:33.

play space and ability children have to be free and active. All those

:04:34.:04:37.

things can be impact the way a child grows healthy or not. It is not

:04:38.:04:43.

known exactly how this girl reached this weight at such a young age or

:04:44.:04:47.

why it was allowed to happen but Newport council told us her weight

:04:48.:04:50.

was the only reason she was taken into care. It is well-known that we

:04:51.:04:59.

in Wales have a problem of obesity, not just for adults and middle-aged

:05:00.:05:04.

but children. I think it is well known also that the problem is

:05:05.:05:11.

escalating even further. In this school the children are encouraged

:05:12.:05:15.

to eat a healthy diet. The Welsh government says it has a number of

:05:16.:05:19.

schemes promoting healthy living. But some children are not as lucky.

:05:20.:05:24.

The consequences can be extremely serious.

:05:25.:05:26.

A three-year-old boy has died in hospital in Wrexham after he was

:05:27.:05:30.

found in a garden pond near Llangollen. North Wales Police say

:05:31.:05:34.

the boy was reported missing shortly before midday today. Let's talk to

:05:35.:05:38.

our reporter Matthew Richards. Matt, we're only just hearing of this.

:05:39.:05:45.

What can you tell us? The news is just coming in and details are still

:05:46.:05:50.

fairly scarce at the moment but North Wales Police control room

:05:51.:05:52.

received this distressing call just before midday and immediately sent

:05:53.:05:57.

officers to the scene. Shortly into this surge they discovered the boy

:05:58.:06:01.

in a pond. We don't know whether this was a pond at the family home

:06:02.:06:06.

or another one that belonged to a neighbour, possibly. He was taken by

:06:07.:06:12.

ambulance to Wrexham Maelor Hospital were sadly, despite the efforts of

:06:13.:06:18.

medical staff, he died. A helicopter was dispatched to the scene but the

:06:19.:06:21.

boy was discovered before it could offer any help in the search. Sadly,

:06:22.:06:31.

in a case like this, several procedures come into place and they

:06:32.:06:36.

are now in force. North Wales Police have sent family liaison officers to

:06:37.:06:40.

support the family of the little boy and the coroner has been informed so

:06:41.:06:45.

he can being -- begin the process of understanding exactly what happened

:06:46.:06:47.

here. The Health Minister says he's

:06:48.:06:49.

considering ordering health boards to pay the Ambulance Service money

:06:50.:06:52.

if emergency vehicles continue to face long delays outside A Mark

:06:53.:06:56.

Drakeford was responding to new figures obtained by the BBC, which

:06:57.:06:59.

show patients in Wales face the longest waits outside hospitals of

:07:00.:07:04.

anywhere in the UK. On one occasion, a patient had to wait for six hours

:07:05.:07:07.

and 22 minutes in an ambulance outside A Here's our health

:07:08.:07:17.

correspondent Owain Clarke. These were the scenes on the front

:07:18.:07:20.

line of the Welsh NHS at PM this afternoon. -- 2pm. Queues occur when

:07:21.:07:32.

images are departments are too busy to safely accept extra patients. So

:07:33.:07:37.

patients have to stay in the care of paramedics until there is room. But

:07:38.:07:41.

wait longer in Wales it seems than anywhere else in Britain. Between

:07:42.:07:46.

August and October, the maximum weights ranged three hours and 12

:07:47.:07:50.

minutes up to six hours and 22 minutes faced by one patient in the

:07:51.:07:57.

Swansea area. Today the health board apologised. A weight of almost six

:07:58.:08:01.

hours was also recorded outside Wales's biggest hospital in

:08:02.:08:05.

Cardiff. In Scotland during the same period, nobody was forced to wait

:08:06.:08:08.

more than two hours in an ambulances. Margaret Thomas had to

:08:09.:08:16.

wait for three hours outside the AMD hospital department -- AMD

:08:17.:08:23.

department. She later found out she had a blood clot in her leg and

:08:24.:08:32.

internal be leading -- bleeding. I am a very lucky person because they

:08:33.:08:35.

told my husband the clot could have gone anywhere. I could have ended

:08:36.:08:45.

not being here today. Ambulance delays outside a handy can be

:08:46.:08:48.

damaging to patient safety because it takes longer for patients to be

:08:49.:08:57.

assessed properly but I am told the most urgent cases receive priority.

:08:58.:09:02.

But if an ambulances is stuck outside a hospital, it can't respond

:09:03.:09:05.

to other emergency calls and that has a knock-on effect on response

:09:06.:09:11.

times. I know that there are instances where patients have waited

:09:12.:09:15.

over three hours and that is not acceptable. We want to improve that

:09:16.:09:19.

situation. We want to make sure that patients do not spend time outside

:09:20.:09:26.

emergency department. What is the answer? In England Health Trust face

:09:27.:09:32.

fines if they fail to meet their targets. Today, the Health Minister

:09:33.:09:37.

said he is considering ordering Welsh health boards to compensate

:09:38.:09:40.

the ambulances this for the time lost when ambulances are stuck

:09:41.:09:47.

waiting to hand patients over. If we find that is a real issue in the

:09:48.:09:52.

future we may put in place a system where local health boards will have

:09:53.:09:54.

two hand over money to the ambulances trust to recognise this

:09:55.:09:59.

is costing them money which should be spent on better patient care. But

:10:00.:10:05.

the Welsh government also insists things are improving. It says the

:10:06.:10:09.

number of patients waiting outside emergency units for over an hour has

:10:10.:10:14.

halved since March but critics say the figures are ominous. If long

:10:15.:10:17.

waits are happening in the summer and autumn, they warn, things can

:10:18.:10:22.

only get worse now winter is here. A dairy at Whitland in

:10:23.:10:25.

Carmarthenshire is set to close at the end of next month if no buyer is

:10:26.:10:30.

found. 31 people currently work at the Proper Welsh Milk Dairy, which

:10:31.:10:33.

was taken over by Dairy Crest earlier this year. The company says

:10:34.:10:37.

it's starting a consultation period with workers and unions over the

:10:38.:10:42.

proposed closure. It blames poor sales and the amount of investment

:10:43.:10:51.

required at the site. A report into train services across

:10:52.:10:55.

the UK have revealed that some of the worst performers are in Wales.

:10:56.:11:01.

The study shows train services here are used less and have lower

:11:02.:11:06.

passenger satisfaction levels. It comes as the Welsh government has

:11:07.:11:09.

announced ?24 million for upgrades to stations across the country.

:11:10.:11:14.

The First Minister Carwyn Jones has defended the education and health

:11:15.:11:17.

policies of the Welsh Government in a news conference marking four years

:11:18.:11:22.

since he took the job. In a wide-ranging interview, he also said

:11:23.:11:24.

the Welsh Government would never sell off Cardiff Airport completely.

:11:25.:11:28.

Our political editor Nick Servini was there.

:11:29.:11:36.

He spent much of the time talking about health and education

:11:37.:11:42.

policies. At times he was quite reflective today, talking about

:11:43.:11:45.

leading the referendum to give this place more lawmaking powers. And the

:11:46.:11:54.

momentum of the organ donation Bill for Wales. But the reality was much

:11:55.:11:58.

of what he was talking about, he was dragged back to the here and now of

:11:59.:12:04.

missed targets in the NHS, problems in the NHS as you referred to in

:12:05.:12:08.

that story about the ambulances service and also problems in the

:12:09.:12:14.

education service and the education system and the publication of the

:12:15.:12:19.

International education league tables last week which put Wales at

:12:20.:12:24.

the bottom of the UK pile. When Carwyn Jones was voted in, he made a

:12:25.:12:29.

big plate of delivery and implication of policy and some of

:12:30.:12:33.

the questions today were about how that focus on delivery tallied with

:12:34.:12:38.

so many indicators out there suggesting that the Welsh government

:12:39.:12:43.

is not delivering particularly effectively in certain areas. As you

:12:44.:12:46.

would expect, a very robust defence from the first Minister. On the

:12:47.:12:53.

economy he spoke about a reasonable record in terms of keeping

:12:54.:12:57.

unemployment under control. In terms of health, he spoke about the

:12:58.:13:00.

reconfiguration of the health service that is currently underway

:13:01.:13:06.

in Wales. And on education, he reaffirmed the commitment, despite

:13:07.:13:10.

the poor results last week, he reaffirmed his commitment to be in

:13:11.:13:13.

the top 20 when the next set of results come out in 2015. The

:13:14.:13:19.

overall figures were disappointing. We did not expect to see a rapid

:13:20.:13:25.

improvement. We do expect to see an improvement in 2015 because by that

:13:26.:13:29.

time what we have put in place will begin to bite. It is important to

:13:30.:13:34.

remember that although it gives us an important snapshot in terms of

:13:35.:13:39.

Welsh education, it is not a sign that the entire education system is

:13:40.:13:44.

in some kind of crisis. We were also given an idea for the plans for

:13:45.:13:48.

Cardiff airport. It is almost exactly a year ago that he announced

:13:49.:13:52.

the Welsh government was going to buy Cardiff airport and earlier this

:13:53.:13:57.

year it did so for ?52 million. He says since then the book value of

:13:58.:14:02.

the airport has risen by ?3 million. They are in talks with an operator

:14:03.:14:06.

to come in and run it on their behalf. And crucially he said that

:14:07.:14:10.

the Welsh government has no intention to sell it entirely. We

:14:11.:14:16.

will never sell it completely, no. But we don't want to run it because

:14:17.:14:21.

we have got the arm's-length company at the moment running the airport

:14:22.:14:24.

but in terms of the longer term solution, as we have always said, we

:14:25.:14:30.

are looking to bring in established operators in the future and the

:14:31.:14:35.

interest is there. Finally it appears that Cardiff airport will

:14:36.:14:38.

become a permanent part of the publicly owned transport

:14:39.:14:41.

infrastructure of Wales. Much more to come before seven

:14:42.:14:44.

o'clock. Wales captain and Cardiff Blues star

:14:45.:14:47.

Sam Warburton could join the nation's player exodus. He wants his

:14:48.:14:50.

playing future settled before Wednesday.

:14:51.:14:54.

And the rescue effort to save a whale stranded on the beach in

:14:55.:14:56.

Conwy. A million pounds to knock it down,

:14:57.:15:06.

?15 million to restore it. So what does the future hold for Colwyn

:15:07.:15:10.

Bay's ailing Victorian pier? The debate has rumbled on for years

:15:11.:15:13.

while at the same time the listed structure has continued its decline.

:15:14.:15:17.

This week, councillors in Conwy will be asked to decide the way ahead.

:15:18.:15:25.

Roger Pinney reports. In its heyday it was a big

:15:26.:15:29.

attraction, a must see for visitors to the seaside report -- resort. Now

:15:30.:15:40.

it is crumbling, its future in doubt, but there are still plenty

:15:41.:15:44.

who remember better times even if they do wonder whether the peer has

:15:45.:15:49.

had its day. We had some really good night stand there, there were some

:15:50.:15:53.

live bands, and it is going into decay. People feel very sentimental

:15:54.:15:58.

about the peer. Lots of memories of the things they have done there. But

:15:59.:16:07.

I think it has had its day. The debate has rumbled on for years.

:16:08.:16:11.

Even its ownership is the subject of ongoing legal action. There has been

:16:12.:16:19.

a Heritage Lottery Fund. Now councils are wondering whether

:16:20.:16:22.

enough further grant aid will materialise. A full restoration

:16:23.:16:28.

would cost ?15 million. Demolition, ?1 million. You don't have to look

:16:29.:16:31.

too closely to get an idea of the state this structure is now in. Bits

:16:32.:16:36.

of it are hanging off and I was told last week a chunk fell off onto the

:16:37.:16:40.

beach. But even doing nothing is costing the council. At the moment

:16:41.:16:44.

they are having to pay a security company to keep people away. But

:16:45.:16:49.

groups campaigning for the peer continued to fundraiser and garner

:16:50.:16:52.

support. They question the council's figures. Demolition would

:16:53.:16:57.

cost more they claim, restoration less. 99% of people in this centre

:16:58.:17:03.

are for the restoration of our peer. If we can convince the council

:17:04.:17:10.

there is public support, we are hoping that those who are thinking,

:17:11.:17:14.

I don't know, perhaps we could persuade them to vote for it. But

:17:15.:17:22.

the issue divides opinion. The peer no longer has any relevance to

:17:23.:17:26.

Colwyn Bay, sadly. I was brought up here as a lad in the 40s and 50s and

:17:27.:17:32.

it was the centre of Colwyn Bay. It was great. But those days are gone.

:17:33.:17:38.

Colwyn Bay peer has a history of steering strong emotions. It will

:17:39.:17:41.

not be an easy decision for councillors to make.

:17:42.:17:44.

Scientists trialling a drug in Cardiff say it can prolong the lives

:17:45.:17:47.

of people with the most common adult leukaemia. The new treatment, called

:17:48.:17:51.

GA-101, is of particular benefit to older patients who can't tolerate

:17:52.:17:54.

chemotherapy by itself, which the new drug is given in partnership

:17:55.:17:57.

with. Those involved in the study say they hope it'll lead to the

:17:58.:18:01.

blood cancer eventually being kept at bay.

:18:02.:18:04.

Campaigners have won their fight to keep a public footpath near the Port

:18:05.:18:08.

Talbot steelworks open, following a public inquiry. Tata Steel and Neath

:18:09.:18:13.

Port Talbot Council wanted to close the path leading to Morfa Beach and

:18:14.:18:17.

divert another for safety reasons. A planning inspector has ruled that

:18:18.:18:20.

while one footpath can be diverted, the beach path will now not close.

:18:21.:18:33.

Many of our top sports stars are in Cardiff tonight for the first Wales

:18:34.:18:36.

Sport Awards, where the BBC Cymru Wales Sports Personality of the Year

:18:37.:18:39.

will be named. The ceremony begins in the next hour and our sports

:18:40.:18:42.

reporter Ashleigh Crowter is already mingling with the guests.

:18:43.:18:46.

We have a new format tonight. This event is being organised by BBC

:18:47.:18:55.

Wales and Sport Wales. But one thing stays the same, they all want to win

:18:56.:18:59.

this trophy. We have a short list of five people this year and the winner

:19:00.:19:04.

will be announced just before 9pm this evening. There are ten other

:19:05.:19:08.

trophies and they cover a range of things in elite sport and grassroots

:19:09.:19:13.

community sport. There is a really diverse gathering here this evening

:19:14.:19:15.

and they are mingling in the pre-ceremony reception. Let's talk

:19:16.:19:22.

to a couple of the people. Someone you may recognise, Gareth Bale's

:19:23.:19:26.

mother. What an amazing your your family has had. It has been

:19:27.:19:34.

fantastic. Everything you can dream of happening, with going to Madrid

:19:35.:19:38.

and being able to be there when he was presented was absolutely

:19:39.:19:44.

fantastic. Having the whole family, my daughter and my father. It was

:19:45.:19:52.

just special to have everyone there with this. And he seems to have

:19:53.:19:59.

handled the tag of becoming the world's most offensive player very

:20:00.:20:02.

well. How is he coping with the move? He is coping fabulously. He

:20:03.:20:13.

has got former team-mates there. That was great because that helped.

:20:14.:20:19.

And Ronaldo has been absolutely brilliant. He has helped him settle.

:20:20.:20:24.

And you feel good and you start to play well. I think that is showing

:20:25.:20:31.

now. He is living the dream. Gareth is on the short list, as is Non

:20:32.:20:34.

Stanford, the world triathlon champion. I can't believe I am still

:20:35.:20:43.

here nominated alongside some of these amazing athletes. That is an

:20:44.:20:47.

honour in itself. It caps off a fantastic year for me. In your first

:20:48.:20:52.

year as a senior, you have already ticked off one of your major goals.

:20:53.:20:58.

What is next on the list? We have got the Commonwealth Games next year

:20:59.:21:01.

and that has always been a massive aim of mine. I am really looking

:21:02.:21:05.

forward to putting on a Welsh vest and getting out there and hopefully

:21:06.:21:09.

flying the flag for Wales. Good luck tonight. We will tell you of all the

:21:10.:21:16.

winners later. I'll have an update on who's won in

:21:17.:21:20.

our late bulletin at 10.25pm. But if you can't wait until then, you can

:21:21.:21:23.

watch the ceremony live on our website.

:21:24.:21:27.

Rugby, and Wales captain and Cardiff Blues star Sam Warburton could join

:21:28.:21:32.

the nation's player exodus. The Wales and Lions captain's contract

:21:33.:21:35.

expires this summer and amid uncertainty over the future of Welsh

domestic rugby he says he wants his playing future settled. Warburton

:21:39.:21:41.

wants a deal to stay in Wales secured by this Wednesday. Here's

:21:42.:21:48.

Matt Murray. Wales has seen some of its biggest

:21:49.:21:52.

names in rugby leave their regions and sign for some of the best-known

:21:53.:21:57.

clubs in France and England. George North, Mike Phillips and most

:21:58.:22:01.

recently Jonathan Davies. The numbers are now into double figures,

:22:02.:22:06.

almost enough to field a first team. Now Sam Warburton could be the

:22:07.:22:10.

latest of the Welsh stars in Excel. He has given the blues and the WRU

:22:11.:22:15.

until Wednesday to offer a new deal. Former Wales international Hugh

:22:16.:22:21.

Bennett left to sign for Lyon. He understands the predicament Sam

:22:22.:22:26.

Warburton is in. In fairness, he has waited. I am sure he could have

:22:27.:22:31.

signed a lot earlier. But with security, that contract is not going

:22:32.:22:36.

to be there for ever. He needs some assurances. But he does not want to

:22:37.:22:42.

sign knowing something could have happened within Welsh rugby. By

:22:43.:22:45.

giving them a gate, he has let them know. There is no doubt Sam

:22:46.:22:51.

Warburton wants to stay in Cardiff. He still lives in one of the suburbs

:22:52.:22:58.

of the capital where he grew up. Just recently he switched on the

:22:59.:23:02.

Christmas lights here. The general feeling among people who know him

:23:03.:23:06.

well know a move away would be a last resort. At this Delhi, they

:23:07.:23:11.

know he is a boy who likes to stay close to home. He is a regular

:23:12.:23:17.

here, he likes his poached egg and brown toast. He is a healthy eater

:23:18.:23:21.

but he is part of the community and he still wants to be a normal

:23:22.:23:26.

character around the village. As Wales captain and having long stated

:23:27.:23:33.

his desire to stay in Cardiff, his departure would be seen as the most

:23:34.:23:36.

damaging of the Welsh exodus so far. A major rescue operation has been

:23:37.:23:40.

underway to save a Minke whale stranded on a beach in Conwy. Teams

:23:41.:23:44.

from the RSPCA and RNLI were called after it was spotted off the North

:23:45.:23:51.

Wales coast. Here's Tomos Dafydd. It is one of the world's smaller

:23:52.:23:55.

Wales but still a breathtaking sight that close. This Minke whale found

:23:56.:24:02.

its way into a shallow channel and was quickly stranded. Wildlife

:24:03.:24:07.

experts were soon on hand to assess any injuries and offer advice to

:24:08.:24:12.

rescue teams. These are always difficult situations. You have two

:24:13.:24:16.

work out why it was stranded in the first place. It could be that it got

:24:17.:24:22.

itself into difficulties, navigation wise. The alternative could be there

:24:23.:24:28.

is something wrong with it. We could not see anything obvious, there is

:24:29.:24:31.

fading light, the tide is going against us, we made the decision to

:24:32.:24:36.

try and refloated. Lifeboat crews try to turn the Minke whale back

:24:37.:24:43.

towards deeper water. It is not uncommon for these mammals to head

:24:44.:24:45.

into sure if they become disorientated. This was a ten metre

:24:46.:24:55.

mammal and it was still alive and it was thrashing around on the

:24:56.:24:58.

shoreline. Keeping members of the public that was our first priority.

:24:59.:25:04.

This species can be found anywhere from the tropics to colder areas.

:25:05.:25:09.

This whale's rescuers will keep it under close scrutiny to make sure it

:25:10.:25:12.

heads back to its usual haunts. THE weather forecast now with Derek.

:25:13.:25:17.

Nice day for a walk on the pier today. Dry and mild for the time of

:25:18.:25:24.

year. Hawarden in Flintshire, 13 Celsius. That's five degrees above

:25:25.:25:29.

average. There's more mild and dry weather to come over the next few

:25:30.:25:33.

days, but I doubt it will stay dry all week. Tonight, generally dry.

:25:34.:25:39.

Clear and chilly. Overnight cloud will spread across the country.

:25:40.:25:44.

Temperatures above freezing. Eight Celsius in Milford Haven and breezy.

:25:45.:25:48.

Lighter winds inland and colder with a risk of ground frost and a few fog

:25:49.:25:52.

patches. Tomorrow's chart shows high pressure over Europe. More isobars

:25:53.:25:56.

over the UK and that means stronger winds but south or south-westerly

:25:57.:26:00.

winds it is going to stay quite mild. The mild air extending north

:26:01.:26:04.

into the Arctic Cirlce and Scandinavia. Here's the picture for

:26:05.:26:09.

8.00am in the morning. Most places dry. Light winds inland with a few

:26:10.:26:14.

mist and fog patches. Breezier on the coast and in the west.

:26:15.:26:19.

Temperatures well above freezing. Ten Celsius in Milford Haven with a

:26:20.:26:23.

southerly wind. I wouldn't rule out a few spots of drizzle in Gwynedd

:26:24.:26:26.

and Pembrokeshire, otherwise dry again. And during the day, the cloud

:26:27.:26:31.

will lift and break. So, brightening-up with a little

:26:32.:26:36.

sunshine. In Torfaen tomorrow, low cloud, mist and fog patches will

:26:37.:26:41.

lift, leaving a dry day. Plenty of cloud. The temperature in Blaenavon

:26:42.:26:45.

rising to eight Celsius with a breeze. Tomorrow night, many places

:26:46.:26:52.

dry. On Wednesday, mist and fog patches will lift, leaving a dry day

:26:53.:26:56.

with a mixture of clouds and sunshine. On Thursday, parts of the

:26:57.:26:59.

north and west may see a little rain. Elsewhere, dry. On Friday,

:27:00.:27:02.

cloudy with outbreaks of rain but the south-east and the Marches may

:27:03.:27:06.

escape the worst of it. Looking further ahead, some of you will be

:27:07.:27:10.

disappointed but there is no sign of any snow before Christmas.

:27:11.:27:16.

And obesity charity has described the case of a five-year-old in

:27:17.:27:21.

Newport who weighed more than ten stone as shocking. The girl was

:27:22.:27:25.

taken into care because of their weight, which is three times heavier

:27:26.:27:27.

than average. X-Ray's on in half an hour. Here's

:27:28.:27:33.

Lucy and Rhodri with more. Tonight we are turning the tables on

:27:34.:27:36.

those cold calling green companies trying to get their hands on your

:27:37.:27:40.

money. What do they have to say when we phoned them? We are looking at

:27:41.:27:45.

cash machine crime and the gadgets criminals are using to get their

:27:46.:27:50.

hands on your money. And we are catching up with a few familiar

:27:51.:27:53.

faces who are finally getting their just deserts.

:27:54.:27:56.

I'll have an update for you here at 8.00pm and after the BBC News at

:27:57.:28:02.

10.00pm. That's Wales Today. Thank you for watching. Good evening.
