Good evening. People are being warned of flooding in parts of | :00:13. | :00:16.
Pembrokeshire tomorrow as strong winds coincide with high tides. Ten | :00:17. | :00:21.
people were rescued when the bus they were travelling in was hit by a | :00:22. | :00:25.
massive wave in Newgale. Pembrokeshire Council say they were | :00:26. | :00:28.
in the process of closing the road at the time. No-one was injured. | :00:29. | :00:35.
Caroline Evans reports. This is what the weather did last | :00:36. | :00:41.
night in Newgale. Conditions still treacherous as passengers were | :00:42. | :00:45.
rescued by the emergency services. We were down here around eight | :00:46. | :00:49.
o'clock last night and when we got down here we could see there was | :00:50. | :00:52.
something in the water but we were not sure what it was. The police | :00:53. | :00:57.
told us they had a major evacuation. As the evening went on, about an | :00:58. | :01:04.
hour or so, the ambulances were here, the fire engines, the | :01:05. | :01:09.
coastguards. As a managed to evacuate the people of the bus, they | :01:10. | :01:13.
were taking them up the hill in police cars. Paramedics were a bit | :01:14. | :01:21.
and it was an awful lot going on but it was very calm and very well | :01:22. | :01:27.
organised. It seems as if the bus was travelling towards Haverfordwest | :01:28. | :01:33.
when a massive wave came and push the right off the road. Local people | :01:34. | :01:38.
say that until the last few weeks, they have not seen conditions like | :01:39. | :01:43.
this for more than 20 years. They say it must have been terrifying. | :01:44. | :01:48.
Today, the road to the beach was packed with cars as people came to | :01:49. | :01:53.
see the damage for themselves. It must have been pretty horrendous for | :01:54. | :01:58.
them. We saw the waves coming over last night and looked frightening | :01:59. | :02:03.
from there. I can imagine it must have been pretty horrific. The waves | :02:04. | :02:09.
come over many a year but never like this. It must have been quite scary. | :02:10. | :02:18.
Denbighshire Council have confirmed they were in the process of closing | :02:19. | :02:21.
the road when the bus went through Newgale. Elsewhere, more wind and | :02:22. | :02:27.
waves battered the coast. In Porthcawl, a seven foot wall | :02:28. | :02:38.
demolished. And this was Aberystwyth. We are pleased that the | :02:39. | :02:44.
repairs we put in place have held up. There is absolutely minimal | :02:45. | :02:50.
damage from last night. All we have really got is a bit of shingle lying | :02:51. | :02:54.
around. We have reopened this stretch of road this morning. It was | :02:55. | :03:04.
closed last night. Tonight, the council is assessing the cost of | :03:05. | :03:06.
damage for the second time this year. | :03:07. | :03:09.
Elsewhere, more than 50 mountain rescuers battled atrocious weather | :03:10. | :03:12.
conditions to help find a group of students in the Cambrian Mountains. | :03:13. | :03:15.
Seven students from Manchester Metropolitan University had set out | :03:16. | :03:18.
to walk Pumlumon Mountain yesterday between Aberystwyth and Llanidloes | :03:19. | :03:20.
when weather conditions deteriorated. | :03:21. | :03:24.
There's a powerful case for extending the smoking ban to | :03:25. | :03:28.
e-cigarettes. That's according to the Health Minister. Mark Drakeford | :03:29. | :03:32.
says while he understands they could help people quit smoking, he's very | :03:33. | :03:35.
anxious about e-cigarettes. On Tuesday, Assembly Members are to | :03:36. | :03:39.
vote on whether to ban their sale to people under 18. | :03:40. | :03:48.
The movement is re-normal eyes in smoking, it is glamorising smoking. | :03:49. | :03:55.
It contains nicotine and nicotine is highly addictive. We don't want them | :03:56. | :03:59.
to become a gateway to real cigarettes. | :04:00. | :04:01.
Rugby, and Wales have no new injury concerns ahead of the game with | :04:02. | :04:05.
Ireland next weekend. Tries from Alex Cuthbert and Scott Williams | :04:06. | :04:07.
helped Wales win their opening Six Nations game against Italy. The | :04:08. | :04:11.
coaching staff will keep an eye on Luke Charteris though, who was | :04:12. | :04:15.
replaced in the second half. The weather forecast for Wales. | :04:16. | :04:17.
Here's Sara Thornton. Good evening. We have got more | :04:18. | :04:27.
weather warnings in force in the coming days, starting tomorrow | :04:28. | :04:31.
morning, as more heavy rain makes its way towards us. This warning is | :04:32. | :04:36.
for the south-west of Wales tomorrow. You can see the rain | :04:37. | :04:44.
advancing from the West. That will be combined with winds of around 60 | :04:45. | :04:49.
miles an hour. We could see some very big waves. And then we have got | :04:50. | :04:55.
more warnings for the middle part of the week. | :04:56. | :04:57.
We're back in Breakfast from 6.25am. That's Wales Today. From all of us | :04:58. | :05:08.
Good evening. Many of us had a sunny Sunday. The weather has calmed down. | :05:09. | :05:17.
However, there is more wet and windy weather to come. Tomorrow it is | :05:18. | :05:21.
concentrated in the West. Many eastern areas will be dry and | :05:22. | :05:24.
breezy. The winds picking up | :05:25. | :05:26. |
