After a thrilling, nailbiting encounter, Wales beat Ireland

And you can smell the smoke from miles away.

saw Wales run out 22-9 winners over Ireland in Cardiff tonight to end

Irish hopes of a tilt at the 6 Nations title.

It was a gruelling, nailbiting and thrilling game

On a frenetic Friday night, Ireland arrived still with a chance

Wales's hopes had already evaporated.

defeat to Scotland. Wales were then subjected to wave after wave of

Irish attack. Ireland were relentless. After 26 phases, they

could not find a way to Wales's defence. The penalty from Jonny

Sexton cuts the lead from six points. It was a nervous night.

Ireland thought they got a right, only to be denied, ruled out by the

referee. To come Wales's fans stepped out Jamie Roberts.

Jubilation among the coaches, relief all round. Victory ensured Wales

remain in the top eight of the world rugby rankings and avoid a potential

horror draw for the next World Cup. They also go to Paris next week for

the final game with renewed confidence.

Over a week after it started, fire fighters are still tackling

a 2,000 tonne rubbish fire at a recycling plant

Crews have been at the Siteserv Recycling plant in Llandow

continually since the blaze began on Thursday last week.

Some residents have had to leave home and businesses say it's

Billowing across the Vale of Glamorgan countryside,

this fire still well alight one week on.

She says they've lost around ?12,000 after having to turn customers away.

And it's not the first time this has happened.

This is the fourth blaze at the site in the past four years.

We have 300 people coming every day, with their family that are spending

All this is lost, just because of this.

This cannot be allowed to happen for a fifth time.

Fire fighters have been continuously tackling the blaze since it

So far they've had 500 crew fighting it using 125 appliances.

What crews were faced with is an extremely difficult fire,

both in terms of its intensity and in termos of the difficulty

There was a significant amount of structural steelwork

We are doing everything we possibly can, working with partners to bring

The cause of the blaze is not yet know..

But all the previous fires were classed as accidental.

This latest fire has led to Natural Resources Wales

suspending the licence of operators, Siteserv Recycling, preventing more

Siteserv say they are devastated and are working around the clock

to help fire fighters bring it under control.

The advice to nearby residents and businesses is to stay

inside as much as possible, keeping windows and doors closed

to reduce exposure to the smoke, although the risk to health

We had to bring all the outdoor animals indoors because the cages

As I say, we lost baby bunnies, they died,

At least 2,000 tonnes of rubbish is burning here,

sending fumes as far as Bridgend, Barry and Penarth at times.

But it's local residents and business owners who have been

affected most by this and with the fire continuing to burn

they're likely to have to deal with its effects

Crimes involving dogs, including attacks on members of the public,

have risen by almost a quarter in Wales.

through foster care who haven't received their payment and hopefully

seeing what's happened with me makes them feel more encouraged to go

through and try and earn back their savings.

At the end of the day, everyone is entitled to what's theirs.

The pilot of a microlight escaped without serious

injury after crashing into the River Cleddau

The aircraft entered the water at Burton near Neyland yesterday.

The pilot managed to swim to shore and was taken to hospital.

Cells at Dolgellau police station are being closed after it emerged

that keeping people in custody there costs ?623 a night,

more than twice that of the other cells in North Wales.

North Wales police say they were under used,

averaging one detainee a day, with half of those being held

The closure will save the force ?300,000 a year.

For tonight it's a fairly quiet night, we do have a bit of cloud

around, some mist and murk forming as we go into the overnight period.

Tomorrow, we do have this cold weather front which will bring a lot

of cloud with it and a little bit of rain across parts of the North

and West but I think much of the country will be dry tomorrow.
