400 calls reporting grass fires were received by South Wales Fire

service overnight - and in the past 24 hours

more than 60 separate grass fires have been tackled

Most are believed to have been started deliberately

and officers are once again warning how dangerous they can be.

Ablaze covering 50 acres of land. It is one of 36 grass fires south Wales

Fire and Rescue Service tackled between 4:30am yesterday and 4:30pm

today. Unfortunately, we foresee that until the early hours of this

evening we will see an increase in fires. Hopefully we will not but if

we do, we have the resources. Here, the scorched mountainsides scars the

landscape. Another fire last night, with flames covering ground the size

of 200 football pitches. Most of the grass fires are believed to have

been started deliberately. We carry out a lot of partnership work with

other agencies. We try to modify and change people's behaviours. If

people's lives are in danger, we will have a delay. Obviously, it

destroys the terrain and leaves a scar on the landscape. If you think

of the wildlife at this time of year, it is going to kill an awful

lot of wildlife and just hopefully it does not kill any people. The

local Fire and Rescue Service told us that they dealt with 24 cases in

the last day. Tonight, better picture in North Wales where only a

few incidents have been reported. The First Minister has told BBC

Wales that a sudden change of government here is the last thing

that should happen during Brexit. Speaking to Sunday Politics Wales

from the Welsh Labour conference, Carwyn Jones said he's given "no

export and import goods. Without our businesses having to face extra

costs on top of production costs. Which will ultimately be passed down

with Wales having voted for Brexit and political change afoot in

reinstated in Wales. The mental health charity,

Mind Cymru, says up to fifteen percent of new mothers develop

in-patient care is necessary - meaning they have to travel

to England for support. The last such unit,

in Cardiff, closed in 20-13 - and one Assembly member agrees
