Newsnight is under way on BBC Two. It is to be very windy for the next

24 hours. Gusts today, widely over northern

England, Wales, and southern Scotland in success of 60 miles per

hour and some up to 707 miles per hour.

The culprit of course, this area of low pressure. It used to be a

hurricane it is clearing but there are many ice bars on the chart. It

is windy and wet over north-west Scotland. Elsewhere, places

becoming dry with clear spells. The wind helping to keep the

temperatures up. Most places staying in double

figures. Tuesday, a windy day. It will be a wet day. This rain is

really starting to build up. Wet here throughout the day and more

rain to come tomorrow. Northern England starting the day

dry and bright with sunshine, but windy. In the south a stiff breeze

here. Cloud over East Anglia and the south-east of England. Over the

south-west, the winds here will be bringing in some fairly heavy

showers and the showers to become more extensive spreading up to

Wales in the course of the morning. Some parts of Wales starting dry

and bright, but it will be windy. 7 Northern Ireland -- Northern

Ireland starting dry and bright. Still windy, but not as windy as

today. The strong winds throughout the course of tomorrow. The winds

in the south chasing the showers over the Midlands into East Anglia

over the afternoon. Temperatures 15 degrees up to 20

degrees Celsius. The winds staying strong over

northern Scotland on Wednesday. The rain falling here. There is a rifb

of the rain mounting up. Elsewhere in the south, winds lighter.

Showers over northern England and Northern Ireland. Thursday there is

high pressure taking control. That starts to calm things down. A
