Good evening. Much colder weather on the way for the UK in the next

few days. This weekend, cold enough for us to see snow in some parts of

the UK. This evening, it is milder than yesterday. Overnight the frost

is not as widespread. There is more cloud across the UK. In the east

the remnants of a warm weather front, in the west, a warm one

fizzling out. There is cold with the blue on the map behind me. A

frost developing in parts of Wales and north-western Ireland.

A hazard for the motorists is the return of dense patches of fog.

Northern Ireland in particular on Friday. Some of that through the

day lifting to cloud. That will thin and break, but a lot of grey

weather for Friday. Perhaps sunshine in the afternoon for the

north of Scotland. In the east it will be grey with outbreaks of rain.

Rain into Northern Ireland for the afternoon keeping it grey here too.

Cloud in the east of England. Also into the Midlands. In the west

sunshine, during the early part of the day for the south-west of

England and Wales, but more cloud and showers pushing away here later

on in the day. That turning to a spell of rain into the evening.

Showery outbreaks of rain to the north-east. Notice how it starts to

turn white by the time we get to Friday night. That is because the

colder air starts to cut across the UK from the Continent. The colder

air is looking like it will give wintry showers in the east of

Scotland and the north-east of England on Saturday. In the south,

the low pressure is our biggest question mark for Saturday. It

could bring heavy rain to southern counties of the UK. Parts of Wales

and the Midlands, a possibility of waking up to lying snow on Saturday,

especially across the Malverns and the Chilterns. A cold day on
