Good evening. Rumours of a hot and sunny spell may not be exaggerated.

It all hinges on an area of high pressure in the south-west. It will

grow over the next few days and eventually it will cut off these

areas of low pressure. We are not there yet. A brisk wind will bring

showers to the west of Scotland. For the rest of us it is a dry

night with light winds. It could be a misty dawn, but inland the fog

will disappear. There could be some patches on the Channel coast. A few

showers across the West of Scotland, but these will fade away and the

cloud will break up. The best of the sunshine will be further south.

Lots of sunshine and a wave from the coast temperatures get up into

the mid- twenties. It will brighten up across parts of Northern Ireland

and the eastern parts of Scotland doing pretty well. It stays cloudy

on the west coast. That cloud will thicken up as the next Atlantic

system comes in of the Atlantic. It could be a disappointing start to

the weekend in the West of Scotland. But for England and Wales, clear

skies and sunshine and less cloud. Temperatures are a notch or two up.

Nudging 80 degrees Fahrenheit. As we go into Sunday this weather

front will become lodged across central parts of the UK. Clear

skies on either side and temperatures will continue to build.

29 degrees are possible across southern parts of England and Wales.
