Back in 2012, a draft food security strategy recommended | :00:39. | :00:43.
that the environment department develop plans for more community | :00:44. | :00:47.

and says the island has become less self-sufficient. | :00:52. | :00:55.
Since 2012 - we've pretty much lost our on island | :00:56. | :00:59.
organic growing community - they've collapsed due to various | :01:00. | :01:05.
reasons and this has meant that even since they started writing this - | :01:06. | :01:08.
we've become much more dependent on importated | :01:09. | :01:11.
The draft food security strategy was created in December 2012. | :01:12. | :01:17.
It made 13 different recommendations. | :01:18. | :01:20.
Such as establishing a Food Security Board. | :01:21. | :01:23.
Five years on and that board has never been created. | :01:24. | :01:26.
The Co-op has also closed the last remaining warehouse that stocked | :01:27. | :01:31.
But the Environment Minister insists they have been addressing the key | :01:32. | :01:37.
What we have done is that we have looked at the Condor situation, | :01:38. | :01:42.
we have looked at the freight situation, we have looked at | :01:43. | :01:44.
the situation with local produce - more recently we've invested | :01:45. | :01:48.
government money into a local packhouse that allows local produce | :01:49. | :01:53.
Deputy Luce says the 2012 report will now be updated and he's hopeful | :01:54. | :02:00.
that it will be officially adopted in the near future. | :02:01. | :02:09.
The number of race hate incidents reported to Jersey Police | :02:10. | :02:11.
There were 23 reports of hate crime last year - | :02:12. | :02:16.
The figures have been increasing year on year since 2012. | :02:17. | :02:22.
Guernsey's most senior politician has called for an overhaul | :02:23. | :02:24.
of the island's code of conduct system. | :02:25. | :02:27.
It's after a recent complaint against these three deputies | :02:28. | :02:30.
was made public before an investigation cleared | :02:31. | :02:32.
Policy and Resources President, Gavin St Pier, says details | :02:33. | :02:36.
of complaints should stay private until a decision's made, | :02:37. | :02:39.
The Deputy's also questioned the transparency of the panels | :02:40. | :02:43.
appointment by the presiding officer. | :02:44. | :02:48.
Rugby now, and in the past hour, Jersey Reds have swept to victory | :02:49. | :02:51.
in one of the biggest home games in their history. | :02:52. | :02:53.
At half-time, they were up 21-6 against Cornish Pirates, | :02:54. | :02:57.
then early in the second half, nine went over with a cheeky try. | :02:58. | :03:02.
Not long after, Sammy Thistleow all but sealed it. | :03:03. | :03:13.
Try here would winds it for them. They are surely going through to the | :03:14. | :03:20.
semifinal for the cup for the second year in a row. | :03:21. | :03:23.
The Reds went on to finish up 36 to 20. | :03:24. | :03:29.

Guernsey Dairy blames the rise on higher farm costs, reductions | :03:33. | :03:34.
As the States don't fix the retail price, it'll be up | :03:35. | :03:38.
to distributors and retailers on whether the increase will be | :03:39. | :03:41.
passed onto customers when they come into effect next month. | :03:42. | :03:44.
Condor Ferries is not for sale - that's the message | :03:45. | :03:46.
It follows comments by Guernsey's president of economic development | :03:47. | :03:50.
Peter Febrache who speculated that the current shareholders, | :03:51. | :03:53.
the Macquarie Group, were looking to sell. | :03:54. | :03:56.
But the head of Condor says that's not the case. | :03:57. | :03:59.
It is not for sale. We are not in a sale process. | :04:00. | :04:02.
There is no decision about a sale and of course any company | :04:03. | :04:05.
can be bought and sold, but it is simply not the case. | :04:06. | :04:08.
It was an inaccurate statement that was made for some reason. | :04:09. | :04:11.
Now, being shrouded in fog might not be the best way to start | :04:12. | :04:14.
a milestone birthday, but nevertheless today | :04:15. | :04:17.
Julie Flanagan looks back at some of its highlights. | :04:18. | :04:24.
80 years ago today, visitors to Jersey became | :04:25. | :04:27.
airborne for the first time, and although the airport has | :04:28. | :04:30.
changed since those days, it hasn't looked back. | :04:31. | :04:35.
Despite a thick blanket of fog delaying flights, | :04:36. | :04:39.
We are making the most of the foggy weather and enjoying the cupcakes | :04:40. | :04:44.
that the airport has laid on for us today. | :04:45. | :04:47.
Even though I'm sitting on a chair, having a nice cake and drinking, | :04:48. | :04:50.
It's a lovely day, actually, to be stranded in Jersey. | :04:51. | :04:53.
Even though it's really foggy, we're here for the 80th | :04:54. | :04:56.
birthday party and we've had a wonderful time in Jersey | :04:57. | :04:58.
and could quite happily stay for a little bit longer. | :04:59. | :05:03.
But for those that have worked here, its more than just a party. | :05:04. | :05:07.
79-year-old Fred started working at the airport back in 1957. | :05:08. | :05:11.
He met his wife here but he also holds a fond memory of another lady | :05:12. | :05:16.
One that comes to mind especially is Dame Vera Lynn. | :05:17. | :05:23.
To have a conversation with her is just like you and I talking now. | :05:24. | :05:27.
She was so natural. No airs or graces. | :05:28. | :05:30.
She was a lovely lady and I was fortunate to be involved | :05:31. | :05:37.
And for the airport's longest serving staff member Stephen, | :05:38. | :05:40.
There's been an enormous change, I mean, we're done a lot of work | :05:41. | :05:44.
here over the last forty odd years, lots of rebuilding work, | :05:45. | :05:47.
lots of infrastructure work, lots of investment in our assets. | :05:48. | :05:49.
The past 80 years have flown past for Jersey Airport and thanks | :05:50. | :05:52.
to the party atmosphere, it's a celebration staff | :05:53. | :05:54.
Good evening. After that visibility problems of the last couple of days, | :05:55. | :06:17.
it is better this weekend. It does turn cooler and there is the risk of | :06:18. | :06:23.
showers on Sunday. Hype -- are beginning to move away from us, more | :06:24. | :06:27.
of a breeze developing. This were the front will change things as it | :06:28. | :06:33.
sweeps through during the course of Sunday, rain with heavy showers and | :06:34. | :06:39.
bright and dry for the early part of next week. The breeze is not strong | :06:40. | :06:45.
now but most of the fog has gone. Winds overnight tonight and | :06:46. | :06:47.
temperatures will get down into single figures of eight or nine | :06:48. | :06:53.
agrees so relatively mild tomorrow. Some sunny spells tomorrow, the | :06:54. | :06:57.
chance of low cloud and missed returning for a short while around a | :06:58. | :07:01.
little of the day before disappearing, winds mostly from the | :07:02. | :07:07.
south-east of 13 degrees will be the top temperature. More cloud on | :07:08. | :07:11.
Sunday, colder air, brisk winds developing and Monday and Tuesday of | :07:12. | :07:17.
next week looks quite promising. High-pressure close by, northerly | :07:18. | :07:21.
winds, top temperature of ten or 11 degrees but hopefully no plans with | :07:22. | :07:28.
mist and also fog. In a second, a full UK forecast but from all | :07:29. | :07:41.
Where the sunshine broke through to the North of Cornwall temperatures | :07:42. | :07:46.
rose to 17 degrees under the blue skies. For many of us the cloud | :07:47. | :07:50.
didn't break up through the day, keeping temperatures pegged at | :07:51. | :07:54.
around about 13 degrees. That was the high today in the London region. | :07:55. | :07:59.
Mild over night with the blanket of cloud around. Most places dry. Rain | :08:00. | :08:04.
will work into parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland through the | :08:05. | :08:08.
early hours of Saturday. It will be mild. Temperatures six | :08:09. | :08:09. |
